Some peripherals require 64-bit PCI address, so let's map the high
mmio space for PCIe.
For RV32, the address is hardcoded to below 4 GiB from the highest
accessible physical address. For RV64, the base address depends on
top of RAM and is aligned to its size which is using 16 GiB for now.

RV32 supports 34-bit physical address hence the maximum RAM size
should be limited. Limit the RAM size to 10 GiB, which leaves
some room for PCIe high mmio space.
For 32-bit host, this is not needed as machine->ram_size cannot
represent a RAM size that big. Use a #if size test to only do
the size limitation for the 64-bit host.

This adds the QSPI0 controller to the SoC, and connects an ISSI
25WP256 flash to it. The generation of corresponding device tree
source fragment is also added.
Since the direct memory-mapped mode is not supported by the SiFive
SPI model, the <reg> property does not populate the second group
which represents the memory mapped address of the SPI flash.
With this commit, upstream U-Boot for the SiFive HiFive Unleashed
board can boot on QEMU 'sifive_u' out of the box. This allows users
to develop and test the recommended RISC-V boot flow with a real
world use case: ZSBL (in QEMU) loads U-Boot SPL from SPI flash to
L2LIM, then U-Boot SPL loads the payload from SPI flash that is
combined with OpenSBI fw_dynamic firmware and U-Boot proper.
Specify machine property `msel` to 6 to allow booting from the SPI
flash. U-Boot spl is directly loaded via `-bios`, and subsequent
payload is stored in the SPI flash image. Example command line:
$ qemu-system-riscv64 -nographic -M sifive_u,msel=6 -smp 5 -m 8G \
-bios u-boot-spl.bin -drive file=spi-nor.img,if=mtd

Currently, we place the DTB at 2MB from 4GB or end of DRAM which ever is
lesser. However, Linux kernel can address only 1GB of memory for RV32.
Thus, it can not map anything beyond 3GB (assuming 2GB is the starting address).
As a result, it can not process DT and panic if opensbi dynamic firmware
is used. While at it, place the DTB further away to avoid in memory placement
issues in future.
Fix this by placing the DTB at 16MB from 3GB or end of DRAM whichever is lower.

It is enough to create an unimplemented device for I2C1 to allow

When system memory is larger than 1 GiB (high memory), PolarFire SoC
maps it at address 0x10_0000_0000. Address 0xC000_0000 and above is
aliased to the same 1 GiB low memory with different cache attributes.
At present QEMU maps the system memory contiguously from 0x8000_0000.
This corrects the wrong QEMU logic. Note address 0x14_0000_0000 is
the alias to the high memory, and even physical memory is only 1 GiB,
the HSS codes still tries to probe the high memory alias address.
It seems there is no issue on the real hardware, so we will have to
take that into the consideration in our emulation. Due to this, we
we increase the default system memory size to 1537 MiB (the minimum
required high memory size by HSS) so that user gets notified an error
when less than 1537 MiB is specified.

Meson doesn't enjoy the same flexibility we have with Make in choosing
the include path. In particular the tracing headers are using
$(build_root)/$(<D).
In order to keep the include directives unchanged,
the simplest solution is to generate headers with patterns like
"trace/trace-audio.h" and place forwarding headers in the source tree
such that for example "audio/trace.h" includes "trace/trace-audio.h".
This patch is too ugly to be applied to the Makefiles now. It's only
a way to separate the changes to the tracing header files from the
Meson rewrite of the tracing logic.

OpenSBI is the default firmware in Qemu and has various firmware loading
options. Currently, qemu loader uses fw_jump which has a compile time
pre-defined address where fdt & kernel image must reside. This puts a
constraint on image size of the Linux kernel depending on the fdt location
and available memory. However, fw_dynamic allows the loader to specify
the next stage location (i.e. Linux kernel/U-Boot) in memory and other
configurable boot options available in OpenSBI.
Add support for OpenSBI dynamic firmware loading support. This doesn't
break existing setup and fw_jump will continue to work as it is. Any
other firmware will continue to work without any issues as long as it
doesn't expect anything specific from loader in "a2" register.

Not exactly elegant, I'm afraid.
The "when != lbl:" is necessary to avoid transforming

out:
error_propagate(errp, err);
even though other paths to label out still need the error_propagate().

it helps here.

an example where it's too narrow, see vfio_intx_enable().

Claiming an interrupt and changing the source priority both potentially
affect whether an interrupt is pending, thus we must re-compute xEIP.
Note that we don't put the sifive_plic_update inside sifive_plic_claim
so that the logging of a claim (and the resulting IRQ) happens before
the state update, making the causal effect clear, and that we drop the
explicit call to sifive_plic_print_state when claiming since
sifive_plic_update already does that automatically at the end for us.
This can result in both spurious interrupt storms if you fail to
complete an IRQ before enabling interrupts (and no other actions occur
that result in a call to sifive_plic_update), but also more importantly
lost interrupts if a disabled interrupt is pending and then becomes
enabled.

It is enough to simply map the SiFive FU540 DDR memory controller
into the MMIO space using create_unimplemented_device(), to make
the upstream U-Boot v2020.07 DDR memory initialization codes happy.
Note we do not generate device tree fragment for the DDR memory
controller. Since the controller data in device tree consumes a
very large space (see fu540-hifive-unleashed-a00-ddr.dtsi in the
U-Boot source), and it is only needed by U-Boot SPL but not any
operating system, we choose not to generate the fragment here.
This also means when testing with U-Boot SPL, the device tree has
to come from U-Boot SPL itself, but not the one generated by QEMU
on the fly. The memory has to be set to 8GiB to match the real
HiFive Unleashed board when invoking QEMU (-m 8G).

SiFive FU540 SoC supports booting from several sources, which are
controlled using the Mode Select (MSEL[3:0]) pins on the chip.
Typically, the boot process runs through several stages before it
begins execution of user-provided programs.
The SoC supports booting from memory-mapped QSPI flash, which is
how start_in_flash property is used for at present. This matches
MSEL = 1 configuration (QSPI0).
Typical booting flows involve the Zeroth Stage Boot Loader (ZSBL).
It's not necessary for QEMU to implement the full ZSBL ROM codes,
because we know ZSBL downloads the next stage program into the L2
LIM at address 0x8000000 and executes from there. We can bypass
the whole ZSBL execution and use "-bios" to load the next stage
program directly if MSEL indicates a ZSBL booting flow.

sysbus_init_child_obj() and realize are too separated for the commit's

This script is *unsound*: we need to manually verify init and realize
conversions are properly paired.
This commit has only the pairs where object_initialize_child()'s
@child and sysbus_realize()'s @dev argument text match exactly within
the same source file.
Note that Coccinelle chokes on ARMSSE typedef vs. macro in
hw/arm/armsse.c. Worked around by temporarily renaming the macro for
the spatch run.

Per QEMU deprecated doc, QEMU 4.1 introduced support for the -bios
option in QEMU for RISC-V for the virt machine and sifive_u machine.
The default behavior has been that QEMU does not automatically load
any firmware if no -bios option is included.
Now 2 releases passed, it's time to change the default behavior to
load the default OpenSBI firmware automatically. The firmware is
included with the QEMU release and no user interaction is required.
All a user needs to do is specify the kernel they want to boot with
the -kernel option.

The only way object_property_add() can fail is when a property with
the same name already exists. Since our property names are all
hardcoded, failure is a programming error, and the appropriate way to
handle it is passing &error_abort.
Same for its variants, except for object_property_add_child(), which
additionally fails when the child already has a parent. Parentage is
also under program control, so this is a programming error, too.
We have a bit over 500 callers. Almost half of them pass
&error_abort, slightly fewer ignore errors, one test case handles
errors, and the remaining few callers pass them to their own callers.
The previous few commits demonstrated once again that ignoring
programming errors is a bad idea.
Of the few ones that pass on errors, several violate the Error API.
The Error ** argument must be NULL, &error_abort, &error_fatal, or a
pointer to a variable containing NULL. Passing an argument of the
latter kind twice without clearing it in between is wrong: if the
first call sets an error, it no longer points to NULL for the second
call. ich9_pm_add_properties(), sparc32_ledma_realize(),
sparc32_dma_realize(), xilinx_axidma_realize(), xilinx_enet_realize()
are wrong that way.
When the one appropriate choice of argument is &error_abort, letting
users pick the argument is a bad idea.
Drop parameter @errp and assert the preconditions instead.
There's one exception to "duplicate property name is a programming
error": the way object_property_add() implements the magic (and
undocumented) "automatic arrayification". Don't drop @errp there.
Instead, rename object_property_add() to object_property_try_add(),
and add the obvious wrapper object_property_add().

object_property_set_description() and
object_class_property_set_description() fail only when property @name
is not found.
There are 85 calls of object_property_set_description() and
object_class_property_set_description(). None of them can fail:
* 84 immediately follow the creation of the property.
* The one in spapr_rng_instance_init() refers to a property created in
spapr_rng_class_init(), from spapr_rng_properties[].
Every one of them still gets to decide what to pass for @errp.
51 calls pass &error_abort, 32 calls pass NULL, one receives the error
and propagates it to &error_abort, and one propagates it to
&error_fatal. I'm actually surprised none of them violates the Error
API.
What are we gaining by letting callers handle the "property not found"
error? Use when the property is not known to exist is simpler: you
don't have to guard the call with a check. We haven't found such a
use in 5+ years. Until we do, let's make life a bit simpler and drop
the @errp parameter.

RISC-V Patches for the 5.0 Soft Freeze, Part 3
This pull request is almost entirely an implementation of the draft hypervisor
extension. This extension is still in draft and is expected to have
incompatible changes before being frozen, but we've had good luck managing
other RISC-V draft extensions in QEMU so far.
Additionally, there's a fix to PCI addressing and some improvements to the
M-mode timer.
This boots linux and passes make check for me.

While loading the executable, some platforms (like AVR) need to
detect CPU type that executable is built for - and, with this patch,
this is enabled by reading the field 'e_flags' of the ELF header of
the executable in question. The change expands functionality of
the following functions:
- load_elf()
- load_elf_as()
- load_elf_ram()
- load_elf_ram_sym()
The argument added to these functions is called 'pflags' and is of
type 'uint32_t*' (that matches 'pointer to 'elf_word'', 'elf_word'
being the type of the field 'e_flags', in both 32-bit and 64-bit
variants of ELF header). Callers are allowed to pass NULL as that
argument, and in such case no lookup to the field 'e_flags' will
happen, and no information will be returned, of course.

as memory that can be used by early boot firmware. This L2 region is
generally disabled using the WayEnable register at a later stage in the
boot process. To allow firmware to target QEMU and the HiFive Unleashed
let's add the L2 LIM (LooselyIntegrated Memory).
Ideally we would want to adjust the size of this chunk of memory as the
L2 Cache Controller WayEnable register is incremented. Unfortunately I
don't see a nice way to handle reducing or blocking out the L2 LIM while
still allowing it be re returned to all enabled from a reset.

We can't allow the supervisor to control SEIP as this would allow the
supervisor to clear a pending external interrupt which will result in
lost a interrupt in the case a PLIC is attached. The SEIP bit must be
hardware controlled when a PLIC is attached.
This logic was previously hard-coded so SEIP was always masked even
if no PLIC was attached. This patch adds riscv_cpu_claim_interrupts
so that the PLIC can register control of SEIP. In the case of models
without a PLIC (spike), the SEIP bit remains software controlled.
This interface allows for hardware control of supervisor timer and
software interrupts by other interrupt controller models.

Not all interrupt controllers have a working implementation of
message-signalled interrupts; in some cases, the guest may expect
MSI to work but it won't due to the buggy or lacking emulation.
In QEMU this is represented by the "msi_nonbroken" variable. This
patch adds a new configuration symbol enabled whenever the binary
contains an interrupt controller that will set "msi_nonbroken". We
can then use it to remove devices that cannot be possibly added
to the machine, because they require MSI.

$ qemu-system-riscv32 -M virt -kernel u-boot -nographic -initrd <a file>
You can find the initrd address with
U-Boot# fdt addr $fdtcontroladdr
U-Boot# fdt ls /chosen
Then take a peek at that address:
U-Boot# md.b <addr>
and you will see that there is nothing there without this patch. The
reason is that the binary was loaded to a negative address.

This patch adds an optional function pointer, 'elf_note_fn', to
load_elf() which causes load_elf() to additionally parse any
ELF program headers of type PT_NOTE and check to see if the ELF
Note is of the type specified by the 'translate_opaque' arg.
If a matching ELF Note is found then the specfied function pointer
is called to process the ELF note.
Passing a NULL function pointer results in ELF Notes being skipped.
The first consumer of this functionality is the PVHboot support
which needs to read the XEN_ELFNOTE_PHYS32_ENTRY ELF Note while
loading the uncompressed kernel binary in order to discover the
boot entry address for the x86/HVM direct boot ABI.

of timecmp erroneously copy the old low order bits
into the high order bits of the 64-bit timecmp

local variables to timecmp_hi and timecmp_lo.
This bug didn't show up as the low order bits are
usually written first followed by the high order

The sifive_u machine already marks its ROM readonly however
it has the wrong base address for its mask ROM. This patch
fixes the sifive_u mask ROM base address.
This commit makes all other boards consistently use mask_rom
as the variable name for their ROMs. Boards that use device
tree now check that that the device tree fits in the assigned
ROM space using the new qemu_fdt_totalsize(void *fdt)
interface, adding a bounds check and error message. This
can detect truncation.
