Choose to pass size - 1 because size == 0 is never used,

We were incorrectly assuming that only the first byte of an MTE access
is checked against the tags. But per the ARM, unaligned accesses are
pre-decomposed into single-byte accesses. So by the time we reach the
actual MTE check in the ARM pseudocode, all accesses are aligned.
We cannot tell a priori whether or not a given scalar access is aligned,
therefore we must at least check. Use mte_probe_int, which is already

This does not become directly visible until a later patch that passes

This is a left over erroneous check from the days front-ends handled
io start/end themselves. Regardless just because IO could be performed
on the last instruction doesn't obligate the front end to do so.
This fixes an abort faced by the aspeed execute-in-place support which
will necessarily trigger this state (even before the one-shot
CF_LAST_IO fix). The test still seems to hang once it attempts to boot
the Linux kernel but I suspect this is an unrelated issue with icount
and the timer handling code.
The original intention of the cpu_abort (added in commit 2e70f6efa8
when the icount stuff was first added) seems to have been to act as
an assert() to catch an unhandled corner case where the generated code
would be something like:
conditional branch to condlabel if its cc failed
implementation of the insn (a conditional branch or trap)
code emitted by gen_io_end()
condlabel:
gen_goto_tb or equivalent thing to go to next insn
At runtime the cc-failed case would skip over the code emitted by
gen_io_end(), leaving the can_do_io flag incorrectly set.
In commit ba3e792669 we switched to an implementation which
always clears can_do_io at the start of the following TB instead
of trying to clear it at the end of a TB that did IO. So the corner
case that this cpu_abort() was trying to flag is no longer possible,
because the gen_io_end() call has been deleted. We can therefore
safely remove the no-longer-valid assertion.

Each vCPU core exposes its timebase frequency in the DT. When running
under KVM, this means parsing /proc/cpuinfo in order to get the timebase
frequency of the host CPU.
The parsing appears to slow down the boot quite a bit with higher number
of cores:
# of cores seconds spent in spapr_dt_cpus()
8 0.550122
16 1.342375
32 2.850316
64 5.922505
96 9.109224
128 12.245504
256 24.957236
384 37.389113
The timebase frequency of the host CPU is identical for all
cores and it is an invariant for the VM lifetime. Cache it
instead of doing the same expensive parsing again and again.
Rename kvmppc_get_tbfreq() to kvmppc_get_tbfreq_procfs() and
rename the 'retval' variable to make it clear it is used as
fallback only. Come up with a new version of kvmppc_get_tbfreq()
that calls kvmppc_get_tbfreq_procfs() only once and keep the
value in a static.
Zero is certainly not a valid value for the timebase frequency.
Treat atoi() returning zero as another parsing error and return
the fallback value instead. This allows kvmppc_get_tbfreq() to
use zero as an indicator that kvmppc_get_tbfreq_procfs() hasn't
been called yet.

Currently we give all the v7-and-up CPUs a PMU with 4 counters. This
means that we don't provide the 6 counters that are required by the
Arm BSA (Base System Architecture) specification if the CPU supports
the Virtualization extensions.
Instead of having a single PMCR_NUM_COUNTERS, make each CPU type
specify the PMCR reset value (obtained from the appropriate TRM), and
use the 'N' field of that value to define the number of counters
provided.
This means that we now supply 6 counters for Cortex-A53, A57, A72,
A15 and A9 as well as '-cpu max'; Cortex-A7 and A8 stay at 4; and
Cortex-R5 goes down to 3.
Note that because we now use the PMCR reset value of the specific
implementation, we no longer set the LC bit out of reset. This has
an UNKNOWN value out of reset for all cores with any AArch32 support,
so guest software should be setting it anyway if it wants it.

For Arm M-profile CPUs, on reset the CPU must load its initial PC and
SP from a vector table in guest memory. Because we can't guarantee
reset ordering, we have to handle the possibility that the ROM blob
loader's reset function has not yet run when the CPU resets, in which
case the data in an ELF file specified by the user won't be in guest
memory to be read yet.
We work around the reset ordering problem by checking whether the ROM
blob loader has any data for the address where the vector table is,
using rom_ptr(). Unfortunately this does not handle the possibility
of memory aliasing. For many M-profile boards, memory can be
accessed via multiple possible physical addresses; if the board has
the vector table at address X but the user's ELF file loads data via
a different address Y which is an alias to the same underlying guest
RAM then rom_ptr() will not find it.
Use the new rom_ptr_for_as() function, which deals with memory
aliasing when locating a relevant ROM blob.

we did not raise an illegal instruction exception, if decode_RV32_64C()

The current two-stage lookup detection in riscv_cpu_do_interrupt falls
short of its purpose, as all it checks is whether two-stage address
translation either via the hypervisor-load store instructions or the
MPRV feature would be allowed.
What we really need instead is whether two-stage address translation was
active when the exception was raised. However, in riscv_cpu_do_interrupt
we do not have the information to reliably detect this. Therefore, when
we raise a memory fault exception we have to record whether two-stage
address translation is active.

vs() should return -RISCV_EXCP_ILLEGAL_INST instead of -1 if rvv feature

If -1 is returned, exception will be raised and cs->exception_index will

index 4294967295 (byte offset 34359738367) using index "XRa - 1U"

This happens because the code is confused about which of XRa, XRb and
XRc is the output, and which are the inputs. XRa is the output, but
most of the conditions separating out different special cases are
written as if XRc is the output, with the result that we can end up

Fix the erroneous code, bringing it in to line with the structure

KVM doesn't fully support Hyper-V reenlightenment notifications on
migration. In particular, it doesn't support emulating TSC frequency
of the source host by trapping all TSC accesses so unless TSC scaling
is supported on the destination host and KVM_SET_TSC_KHZ succeeds, it
is unsafe to proceed with migration.
KVM_SET_TSC_KHZ is called from two sites: kvm_arch_init_vcpu() and
kvm_arch_put_registers(). The later (intentionally) doesn't propagate
errors allowing migrations to succeed even when TSC scaling is not
supported on the destination. This doesn't suit 're-enlightenment'
use-case as we have to guarantee that TSC frequency stays constant.
Require 'tsc-frequency=' command line option to be specified for successful
migration when re-enlightenment was enabled by the guest.

env->error_code is only 32-bits wide, so the high 32 bits of EXITINFO1
are being lost. However, even though saving guest state and restoring
host state must be delayed to do_vmexit, because they might take tb_lock,
it is always possible to write to the VMCB. So do this for the exit

The PoP states:
When EDAT-1 does not apply, and a program interruption due to a
page-translation exception is recognized by the MOVE PAGE
instruction, the contents of the R1 field of the instruction are
stored in bit positions 0-3 of location 162, and the contents of
the R2 field are stored in bit positions 4-7.
If [...] an ASCE-type, region-first-translation,
region-second-translation, region-third-translation, or
segment-translation exception was recognized, the contents of
location 162 are unpredictable.
So we have to write r1/r2 into the lowcore on page-translation

legacy_s390_alloc() was required for dealing with the absence of the ESOP
feature -- on old HW (< gen 10) and old z/VM versions (< 6.3).
As z/VM v6.2 (and even v6.3) is no longer supported since 2017 [1]
and we don't expect to have real users on such old hardware, let's drop
legacy_s390_alloc().
Still check+report an error just in case someone still runs on
such old z/VM environments, or someone runs under weird nested KVM
setups (where we can manually disable ESOP via the CPU model).
No need to check for KVM_CAP_GMAP - that should always be around on
kernels that also have KVM_CAP_DEVICE_CTRL (>= v3.15).

The virt machine already checks KVM_CAP_ARM_VM_IPA_SIZE to get the
upper bound of the IPA size. If that bound is lower than the highest
possible GPA for the machine, then QEMU will error out. However, the
IPA is set to 40 when the highest GPA is less than or equal to 40,
even when KVM may support an IPA limit as low as 32. This means KVM
may fail the VM creation unnecessarily. Additionally, 40 is selected
with the value 0, which means use the default, and that gets around
a check in some versions of KVM, causing a difficult to debug fail.
Always use the IPA size that corresponds to the highest possible GPA,
unless it's lower than 32, in which case use 32. Also, we must still
use 0 when KVM only supports the legacy fixed 40 bit IPA.

According to the M68040UM Appendix D the requirement for data accesses to be
word aligned is only for the 68000, 68008 and 68010 CPUs. Later CPUs from the
68020 onwards will allow unaligned data accesses but at the cost of being less
efficient.
Add a new M68K_FEATURE_UNALIGNED_DATA feature to specify that data accesses are
not required to be word aligned, and don't perform the alignment on the stack
pointer when taking an exception if this feature is not selected.
This is required because the MacOS DAFB driver attempts to call an A-trap
with a byte-aligned stack pointer during initialisation and without this the
stack pointer is off by one when the A-trap returns.

If a NuBus slot doesn't contain a card, the Quadra hardware generates a physical
bus error if the CPU attempts to access the slot address space. Both Linux and
MacOS use a separate bus error handler during NuBus accesses in order to detect
and recover when addressing empty slots.
According to the MC68040 users manual the ATC bit of the SSW is used to
distinguish between ATC faults and physical bus errors. MacOS specifically checks
the stack frame generated by a NuBus error and panics if the SSW ATC bit is set.
Update m68k_cpu_transaction_failed() so that the SSW ATC bit is not set if the
memory API returns MEMTX_DECODE_ERROR which will be used to indicate that an
access to an empty NuBus slot occurred.

The commit d03b174a83 (target/ppc: simplify bcdadd/sub functions)
meant to simplify some of the code but it inadvertently altered the
way the CR6 field is set after the operation has overflowed.
The CR6 bits are set based on the *unbounded* result of the operation,
so we need to look at the result before returning from bcd_add_mag,
otherwise we will look at 0 when it overflows.
Consider the following subtraction:
v0 = 0x9999999999999999999999999999999c (maximum positive BCD value)
v1 = 0x0000000000000000000000000000001d (negative one BCD value)
bcdsub. v0,v0,v1,0
The Power ISA 2.07B says:
If the unbounded result is greater than zero, do the following.
If PS=0, the sign code of the result is set to 0b1100.
If PS=1, the sign code of the result is set to 0b1111.
If the operation overflows, CR field 6 is set to 0b0101. Otherwise,
CR field 6 is set to 0b0100.
POWER9 hardware:
vr0 = 0x0000000000000000000000000000000c (positive zero BCD value)
cr6 = 0b0101 (0x5) (positive, overflow)
QEMU:
vr0 = 0x0000000000000000000000000000000c (positive zero BCD value)
cr6 = 0b0011 (0x3) (zero, overflow) <--- wrong
This patch reverts the part of d03b174a83 that introduced the
problem and adds a test-case to avoid further regressions:
before:
$ make run-tcg-tests-ppc64le-linux-user
(...)
TEST bcdsub on ppc64le
bcdsub: qemu/tests/tcg/ppc64le/bcdsub.c:58: test_bcdsub_gt:

The Clock framework allows users to specify a callback which is
called after the clock's period has been updated. Some users need to
also have a callback which is called before the clock period is
updated.
As the first step in adding support for notifying Clock users on
pre-update events, add an argument to the ClockCallback to specify
what event is being notified, and add an argument to the various
functions for registering a callback to specify which events are
of interest to that callback.
Note that the documentation update renders correct the previously
incorrect claim in 'Adding a new clock' that callbacks "will be
explained in a following section".

If kvm_arch_remove_sw_breakpoint finds that a software breakpoint does not
have an INT3 instruction, it fails. This can happen if one sets a
software breakpoint in a kernel module and then reloads it. gdb then
thinks the breakpoint cannot be deleted and there is no way to add it

Section D6.7 of the ARM ARM states:
For the purpose of determining Tag Check Fault handling, unprivileged
load and store instructions are treated as if executed at EL0 when
executed at either:
- EL1, when the Effective value of PSTATE.UAO is 0.
- EL2, when both the Effective value of HCR_EL2.{E2H, TGE} is {1, 1}
and the Effective value of PSTATE.UAO is 0.
ARM has confirmed a defect in the pseudocode function
AArch64.TagCheckFault that makes it inconsistent with the above
wording. The remedy is to adjust references to PSTATE.EL in that
function to instead refer to AArch64.AccessUsesEL(acctype), so
that unprivileged instructions use SCTLR_EL1.TCF0 and TFSRE0_EL1.
The exception type for synchronous tag check faults remains unchanged.
This patch implements the described change by partially reverting
commits 50244cc76a and cc97b0019b.

Use byte loads/stores directly into the vector register file
instead of extractions and deposits to a 64-bit local variable.
In order to easily receive pointers into the vector register file,
convert the helper to the gvec out-of-line signature. Move the
helper into vec_helper.c, where it can make use of H1 and clear_tail.

There is a compiler warning with GCC 9.3 when compiling with
the -fsanitize=thread compiler flag:
In function 'strncpy',
inlined from 's390x_write_elf64_notes' at ../target/s390x/arch_dump.c:219:9:

Since the name should always be NUL-terminated, let's use g_strlcpy() to
silence this warning. And while we're at it, also add an assert() to make
sure that the provided names always fit the size field (which is fine for
the current callers, the function is called once with "CORE" and once with
"LINUX" as a name).

Secure execution (aka protected virtualization) guests cannot be
migrated at the moment. If the unpack facility is provided in the cpu
model, a guest may choose to transition to secure mode, making the
guest unmigratable at that point in time. If the machine was explicitly
started with --only-migratable, we would get a failure only when the
guest actually tries to transition; instead, explicitly disallow the
unpack facility if --only-migratable was specified to avoid late
surprises.

The cpu::mmr[] array contains the upper halves of 128-bit GPR
registers. While they are only used by the R5900 CPU, the
concept is generic and could be used by another MIPS implementation.
Rename 'cpu::mmr' as 'cpu::gpr_hi' and make them global.
When the code is similar to the GPR lower halves, move it
close by.

Commit 83be6b5412 ("Fix MSA instructions LD.<B|H|W|D> on big endian
host") introduced use of typedef/prototypes declared in "tcg/tcg.h"
without including it. This was not a problem because "tcg/tcg.h" is
pulled in by "exec/cpu_ldst.h". To be able to remove this header
there, we first need to include it here in op_helper.c, else we get:

The CPUID function 1 has a bit called OSXSAVE which tells user space the
status of the CR4.OSXSAVE bit. Our generic CPUID function injects that bit
based on the status of CR4.
With Hypervisor.framework, we do not synchronize full CPU state often enough
for this function to see the CR4 update before guest user space asks for it.
To be on the save side, let's just always synchronize it when we receive a
CPUID(1) request. That way we can set the bit with real confidence.

An SEV-ES guest does not allow register state to be altered once it has
been measured. When an SEV-ES guest issues a reboot command, Qemu will
reset the vCPU state and resume the guest. This will cause failures under
SEV-ES. Prevent that from occuring by introducing an arch-specific
callback that returns a boolean indicating whether vCPUs are resettable.

When SEV-ES is enabled, it is not possible modify the guests register
state after it has been initially created, encrypted and measured.
Normally, an INIT-SIPI-SIPI request is used to boot the AP. However, the
hypervisor cannot emulate this because it cannot update the AP register
state. For the very first boot by an AP, the reset vector CS segment
value and the EIP value must be programmed before the register has been
encrypted and measured. Search the guest firmware for the guest for a
specific GUID that tells Qemu the value of the reset vector to use.

If the gpa isn't specified, it's value is extracted from the OVMF
properties table located below the reset vector (and if this doesn't
exist, an error is returned). OVMF has defined the GUID for the SEV
secret area as 4c2eb361-7d9b-4cc3-8081-127c90d3d294 and the format of
the <data> is: <base>|<size> where both are uint32_t. We extract
<base> and use it as the gpa for the injection.
Note: it is expected that the injected secret will also be GUID
described but since qemu can't interpret it, the format is left
undefined here.

OVMF is developing a mechanism for depositing a GUIDed table just
below the known location of the reset vector. The table goes
backwards in memory so all entries are of the form
<data>|len|<GUID>
Where <data> is arbtrary size and type, <len> is a uint16_t and
describes the entire length of the entry from the beginning of the
data to the end of the guid.
The foot of the table is of this form and <len> for this case
describes the entire size of the table. The table foot GUID is
defined by OVMF as 96b582de-1fb2-45f7-baea-a366c55a082d and if the
table is present this GUID is just below the reset vector, 48 bytes
before the end of the firmware file.
Add a parser for the ovmf reset block which takes a copy of the block,
if the table foot guid is found, minus the footer and a function for
later traversal to return the data area of any specified GUIDs.

The real kernel collects _TIF_MTE_ASYNC_FAULT into the current thread's
state on any kernel entry (interrupt, exception etc), and then delivers
the signal in advance of resuming the thread.
This means that while the signal won't be delivered immediately, it will
not be delayed forever -- at minimum it will be delivered after the next
clock interrupt.
We don't have a clock interrupt in linux-user, so we issue a cpu_kick
to signal a return to the main loop at the end of the current TB.

Use g2h_untagged in contexts that have no cpu, e.g. the binary
loaders that operate before the primary cpu is created. As a
colollary, target_mmap and friends must use untagged addresses,
since they are used by the loaders.
Use g2h_untagged on values returned from target_mmap, as the
kernel never applies a tag itself.
Use g2h_untagged on all pc values. The only current user of
tags, aarch64, removes tags from code addresses upon branch,
so "pc" is always untagged.
Use g2h with the cpu context on hand wherever possible.

The m680XX_cpu_initfn functions have been rearranged to cascade starting from
the base 68000, so that the 68010 then inherits from this, and so on until the
68060.
This makes it simpler to track features since in most cases the m68k were
product enhancements on each other, with only a few instructions being retired.
Because each cpu class inherits the previous CPU class, then for example
the 68020 also has the feature 68010, and 68000 and so on upto the 68060.
- Added 68010 cpu class, and moved correct features into 68000/68010.
- Added m68k_unset_feature to allow removing a feature in the inheritence

Improvement in comments for the instantiation functions.
This is to highlight what each cpu class, in the 68000 series, contains
in terms of instructions/features.

When working with performance monitoring counters, we look at
MDCR_EL2.HPMN as part of the check whether a counter is enabled. This
check fails, because MDCR_EL2.HPMN is reset to 0, meaning that no
counters are "enabled" for < EL2.
That's in violation of the Arm specification, which states that
> On a Warm reset, this field [MDCR_EL2.HPMN] resets to the value in
> PMCR_EL0.N
That's also what a comment in the code acknowledges, but the necessary
adjustment seems to have been forgotten when support for more counters
was added.
This change fixes the issue by setting the reset value to PMCR.N, which
is four.

cpsr has been treated as being the same as spsr, but it isn't.
Since PSTATE_SS isn't in cpsr, remove it and move it into env->pstate.
This allows us to add support for CPSR_DIT, adding helper functions
to merge SPSR_ELx to and from CPSR.

Add support for FEAT_DIT. DIT (Data Independent Timing) is a required
feature for ARMv8.4. Since virtual machine execution is largely
nondeterministic and TCG is outside of the security domain, it's
implemented as a NOP.

The FW and AW bits of SCR_EL3 are RES1 only in some contexts. Force them
to 1 only when there is no support for AArch32 at EL1 or above.
The reset value will be 0x30 only if the CPU is AArch64-only; if there
is support for AArch32 at EL1 or above, it will be reset to 0.
Also adds helper function isar_feature_aa64_aa32_el1 to check if AArch32
is supported at EL1 or above.

As feature flags are added or removed, the meanings of bits in the
`features` field can change between QEMU versions, causing migration
failures. Additionally, migrating the field is not useful because it is
a constant function of the CPU being used.

Per EREF 2.0 [1] chapter 3.11.2:
The following bits in L2CSR0 (exists in the e500mc/e5500/e6500 core):
- L2FI (L2 cache flash invalidate)
- L2FL (L2 cache flush)
- L2LFC (L2 cache lock flash clear)
when set, a cache operation is initiated by hardware, and these bits
will be cleared when the operation is complete.
Since we don't model cache in QEMU, let's add a write helper to emulate
the cache operations completing instantly.
