8b3f15b0a3 target/arm: Split out saturating/rounding shifts from neon
Split these operations out into a header that can be shared
between neon and sve. The "sat" pointer acts both as a boolean
for control of saturating behavior and controls the difference
in behavior between neon and sve -- QC bit or no QC bit.

Widen the shift operand in the new helpers, as the SVE2 insns treat
the whole input element as significant. For the neon uses, truncate
the shift to int8_t while passing the parameter.

Implement right-shift rounding as

    tmp = src >> (shift - 1);
    dst = (tmp >> 1) + (tmp & 1);

This is the same number of instructions as the current

    tmp = 1 << (shift - 1);
    dst = (src + tmp) >> shift;

without any possibility of intermediate overflow.

659f042ba8 target/arm: Use correct SP in M-profile exception return
When an M-profile CPU is restoring registers from the stack on
exception return, the stack pointer to use is determined based on
bits in the magic exception return type value. We were not getting
this logic entirely correct.

Whether we use one of the Secure stack pointers or one of the
Non-Secure stack pointers depends on the EXCRET.S bit. However,
whether we use the MSP or the PSP then depends on the SPSEL bit in
either the CONTROL_S or CONTROL_NS register. We were incorrectly
selecting MSP vs PSP based on the EXCRET.SPSEL bit.

(In the pseudocode this is in the PopStack() function, which calls
LookUpSp_with_security_mode() which in turn looks at the relevant
CONTROL.SPSEL bit.)

The buggy behaviour wasn't noticeable in most cases, because we write
EXCRET.SPSEL to the CONTROL.SPSEL bit for the S/NS register selected
by EXCRET.ES, so we only do the wrong thing when EXCRET.S and
EXCRET.ES are different. This will happen when secure code takes a
secure exception, which then tail-chains to a non-secure exception
which finally returns to the original secure code.

5b2c8af89b target/arm: Make WFI a NOP for userspace emulators
The WFI insn is not system-mode only, though it doesn't usually make
a huge amount of sense for userspace code to execute it. Currently
if you try it in qemu-arm then the helper function will raise an
EXCP_HLT exception, which is not covered by the switch in cpu_loop()
and results in an abort:

qemu: unhandled CPU exception 0x10001 - aborting

PSR=60000010 -ZC- A usr32
qemu:handle_cpu_signal received signal outside vCPU context @ pc=0x7fcbfa4f0a12

Make the WFI helper function return immediately in the usermode
emulator. This turns WFI into a NOP, which is OK because:
 * architecturally "WFI is a NOP" is a permitted implementation
 * aarch64 Linux kernels use the SCTLR_EL1.nTWI bit to trap
userspace WFI and NOP it (though aarch32 kernels currently
just let WFI do whatever it would do)

We could in theory make the translate.c code special case user-mode
emulation and NOP the insn entirely rather than making the helper
do nothing, but because no real world code will be trying to
execute WFI we don't care about efficiency and the helper provides
a single place where we can make the change rather than having
to touch multiple places in translate.c and translate-a64.c.

5ce389f2e7 target/arm: Make functions used by m-nocp global
We want to split out the .c.inc files which are currently included
into translate.c so they are separate compilation units. To do this
we need to make some functions which are currently file-local to
translate.c have global scope; create a translate-a32.h paralleling
the existing translate-a64.h as a place for these declarations to
live, so that code moved into the new compilation units can call
them.

The functions made global here are those required by the
m-nocp.decode functions, except that I have converted the whole
family of {read,write}_neon_element* and also both the load_cpu and
store_cpu functions for consistency, even though m-nocp only wants a
few functions from each.

d9318a5f9c target/arm: Share unallocated_encoding() and gen_exception_insn()
The unallocated_encoding() function is the same in both
translate-a64.c and translate.c; make the translate.c function global
and drop the translate-a64.c version. To do this we need to also
share gen_exception_insn(), which currently exists in two slightly
different versions for A32 and A64: merge those into a single
function that can work for both.

This will be useful for splitting up translate.c, which will require
unallocated_encoding() to no longer be file-local. It's also
hopefully less confusing to have only one version of the function
rather than two.

abe66294e1 target/arm: Adjust gen_aa32_{ld, st}_i64 for align+endianness
Adjust the interface to match what has been done to the
TCGv_i32 load/store functions.

This is less obvious, because at present the only user of
these functions, trans_VLDST_multiple, also wants to manipulate
the endianness to speed up loading multiple bytes. Thus we
retain an "internal" interface which is identical to the
current gen_aa32_{ld,st}_i64 interface.

The "new" interface will gain users as we remove the legacy
interfaces, gen_aa32_ld64 and gen_aa32_st64.

4a09a21345 target/arm: Fix unaligned checks for mte_check1, mte_probe1
We were incorrectly assuming that only the first byte of an MTE access
is checked against the tags. But per the ARM, unaligned accesses are
pre-decomposed into single-byte accesses. So by the time we reach the
actual MTE check in the ARM pseudocode, all accesses are aligned.

We cannot tell a priori whether or not a given scalar access is aligned,
therefore we must at least check. Use mte_probe_int, which is already
set up for checking multiple granules.

is checked against the tags. But per the ARM, unaligned accesses are
pre-decomposed into single-byte accesses. So by the time we reach the
actual MTE check in the ARM pseudocode, all accesses are aligned.

Therefore, the first failure is always either the first byte of the

In addition, some of the arithmetic is off for last-first -> count.
This does not become directly visible until a later patch that passes
single bytes into this function, so ptr == ptr_last.

c57b27ea89 target/arm: drop CF_LAST_IO/dc->condjump check
This is a left over erroneous check from the days front-ends handled
io start/end themselves. Regardless just because IO could be performed
on the last instruction doesn't obligate the front end to do so.

This fixes an abort faced by the aspeed execute-in-place support which
will necessarily trigger this state (even before the one-shot
CF_LAST_IO fix). The test still seems to hang once it attempts to boot
the Linux kernel but I suspect this is an unrelated issue with icount
and the timer handling code.

The original intention of the cpu_abort (added in commit 2e70f6efa8
when the icount stuff was first added) seems to have been to act as
an assert() to catch an unhandled corner case where the generated code
would be something like:
conditional branch to condlabel if its cc failed
implementation of the insn (a conditional branch or trap)
    code emitted by gen_io_end()
 condlabel:
gen_goto_tb or equivalent thing to go to next insn

At runtime the cc-failed case would skip over the code emitted by
gen_io_end(), leaving the can_do_io flag incorrectly set.

In commit ba3e792669 we switched to an implementation which
always clears can_do_io at the start of the following TB instead
of trying to clear it at the end of a TB that did IO. So the corner
case that this cpu_abort() was trying to flag is no longer possible,
because the gen_io_end() call has been deleted. We can therefore
safely remove the no-longer-valid assertion.

f7fb73b8cd target/arm: Make number of counters in PMCR follow the CPU
Currently we give all the v7-and-up CPUs a PMU with 4 counters. This
means that we don't provide the 6 counters that are required by the
Arm BSA (Base System Architecture) specification if the CPU supports
the Virtualization extensions.

Instead of having a single PMCR_NUM_COUNTERS, make each CPU type
specify the PMCR reset value (obtained from the appropriate TRM), and
use the 'N' field of that value to define the number of counters
provided.

This means that we now supply 6 counters for Cortex-A53, A57, A72,
A15 and A9 as well as '-cpu max'; Cortex-A7 and A8 stay at 4; and
Cortex-R5 goes down to 3.

Note that because we now use the PMCR reset value of the specific
implementation, we no longer set the LC bit out of reset. This has
an UNKNOWN value out of reset for all cores with any AArch32 support,
so guest software should be setting it anyway if it wants it.

75ce72b785 target/arm: Make M-profile VTOR loads on reset handle memory aliasing
For Arm M-profile CPUs, on reset the CPU must load its initial PC and
SP from a vector table in guest memory. Because we can't guarantee
reset ordering, we have to handle the possibility that the ROM blob
loader's reset function has not yet run when the CPU resets, in which
case the data in an ELF file specified by the user won't be in guest
memory to be read yet.

We work around the reset ordering problem by checking whether the ROM
blob loader has any data for the address where the vector table is,
using rom_ptr(). Unfortunately this does not handle the possibility
of memory aliasing. For many M-profile boards, memory can be
accessed via multiple possible physical addresses; if the board has
the vector table at address X but the user's ELF file loads data via
a different address Y which is an alias to the same underlying guest
RAM then rom_ptr() will not find it.

Use the new rom_ptr_for_as() function, which deals with memory
aliasing when locating a relevant ROM blob.

bcb902a1ed hw/arm/virt: KVM: The IPA lower bound is 32
The virt machine already checks KVM_CAP_ARM_VM_IPA_SIZE to get the
upper bound of the IPA size. If that bound is lower than the highest
possible GPA for the machine, then QEMU will error out. However, the
IPA is set to 40 when the highest GPA is less than or equal to 40,
even when KVM may support an IPA limit as low as 32. This means KVM
may fail the VM creation unnecessarily. Additionally, 40 is selected
with the value 0, which means use the default, and that gets around
a check in some versions of KVM, causing a difficult to debug fail.
Always use the IPA size that corresponds to the highest possible GPA,
unless it's lower than 32, in which case use 32. Also, we must still
use 0 when KVM only supports the legacy fixed 40 bit IPA.

2d928adf8a target/arm: Use TCF0 and TFSRE0 for unprivileged tag checks
Section D6.7 of the ARM ARM states:

For the purpose of determining Tag Check Fault handling, unprivileged
load and store instructions are treated as if executed at EL0 when
executed at either:
- EL1, when the Effective value of PSTATE.UAO is 0.
- EL2, when both the Effective value of HCR_EL2.{E2H, TGE} is {1, 1}
and the Effective value of PSTATE.UAO is 0.

ARM has confirmed a defect in the pseudocode function
AArch64.TagCheckFault that makes it inconsistent with the above
wording. The remedy is to adjust references to PSTATE.EL in that
function to instead refer to AArch64.AccessUsesEL(acctype), so
that unprivileged instructions use SCTLR_EL1.TCF0 and TFSRE0_EL1.
The exception type for synchronous tag check faults remains unchanged.

This patch implements the described change by partially reverting
commits 50244cc76a and cc97b0019b.

92a5199b29 sev/i386: Don't allow a system reset under an SEV-ES guest
An SEV-ES guest does not allow register state to be altered once it has
been measured. When an SEV-ES guest issues a reboot command, Qemu will
reset the vCPU state and resume the guest. This will cause failures under
SEV-ES. Prevent that from occuring by introducing an arch-specific
callback that returns a boolean indicating whether vCPUs are resettable.

5d70c3510b linux-user/aarch64: Signal SEGV_MTEAERR for async tag check error
The real kernel collects _TIF_MTE_ASYNC_FAULT into the current thread's
state on any kernel entry (interrupt, exception etc), and then delivers
the signal in advance of resuming the thread.

This means that while the signal won't be delivered immediately, it will
not be delayed forever -- at minimum it will be delivered after the next
clock interrupt.

We don't have a clock interrupt in linux-user, so we issue a cpu_kick
to signal a return to the main loop at the end of the current TB.

d3c1183ffe target/arm: Correctly initialize MDCR_EL2.HPMN
When working with performance monitoring counters, we look at
MDCR_EL2.HPMN as part of the check whether a counter is enabled. This
check fails, because MDCR_EL2.HPMN is reset to 0, meaning that no
counters are "enabled" for < EL2.
That's in violation of the Arm specification, which states that

> On a Warm reset, this field [MDCR_EL2.HPMN] resets to the value in
> PMCR_EL0.N

That's also what a comment in the code acknowledges, but the necessary
adjustment seems to have been forgotten when support for more counters
was added.
This change fixes the issue by setting the reset value to PMCR.N, which
is four.

7827168471 cpu: tcg_ops: move to tcg-cpu-ops.h, keep a pointer in CPUClass
we cannot in principle make the TCG Operations field definitions
conditional on CONFIG_TCG in code that is included by both common_ss
and specific_ss modules.

Therefore, what we can do safely to restrict the TCG fields to TCG-only
builds, is to move all tcg cpu operations into a separate header file,
which is only included by TCG, target-specific code.

This leaves just a NULL pointer in the cpu.h for the non-TCG builds.

This also tidies up the code in all targets a bit, having all TCG cpu
operations neatly contained by a dedicated data struct.

853bfef4e6 target/arm: do not use cc->do_interrupt for KVM directly
cc->do_interrupt is in theory a TCG callback used in accel/tcg only,
to prepare the emulated architecture to take an interrupt as defined
in the hardware specifications,

but in reality the _do_interrupt style of functions in targets are
also occasionally reused by KVM to prepare the architecture state in a
similar way where userspace code has identified that it needs to
deliver an exception to the guest.

In the case of ARM, that includes:

1) the vcpu thread got a SIGBUS indicating a memory error,
and we need to deliver a Synchronous External Abort to the guest to
let it know about the error.
2) the kernel told us about a debug exception (breakpoint, watchpoint)
but it is not for one of QEMU's own gdbstub breakpoints/watchpoints
so it must be a breakpoint the guest itself has set up, therefore
we need to deliver it to the guest.

So in order to reuse code, the same arm_do_interrupt function is used.
This is all fine, but we need to avoid calling it using the callback
registered in CPUClass, since that one is now TCG-only.

Fortunately this is easily solved by replacing calls to
CPUClass::do_interrupt() with explicit calls to arm_do_interrupt().

This patch adds the target EL for exceptions from 64-bit S-EL2.

It also fixes the target EL to EL2 when HCR.{A,F,I}MO are set in secure

HCR was always 0 in secure mode.

e4d51ac692 target/arm: Don't decode insns in the XScale/iWMMXt space as cp insns
In commit cd8be50e58 we converted the A32 coprocessor
insns to decodetree. This accidentally broke XScale/iWMMXt insns,
because it moved the handling of "cp insns which are handled
by looking up the cp register in the hashtable" from after the
call to the legacy disas_xscale_insn() decode to before it,
with the result that all XScale/iWMMXt insns now UNDEF.

Update valid_cp() so that it knows that on XScale cp 0 and 1
are not standard coprocessor instructions; this will cause
the decodetree trans_ functions to ignore them, so that
execution will correctly get through to the legacy decode again.

7fbf95a037 target/arm: Correct store of FPSCR value via FPCXT_S
In commit 64f863baee we implemented the v8.1M FPCXT_S register,
but we got the write behaviour wrong. On read, this register reads
bits [27:0] of FPSCR plus the CONTROL.SFPA bit. On write, it doesn't
just write back those bits -- it writes a value to the whole FPSCR,
whose upper 4 bits are zeroes.

We also incorrectly implemented the write-to-FPSCR as a simple store
to vfp.xregs; this skips the "update the softfloat flags" part of
the vfp_set_fpscr helper so the value would read back correctly but
not actually take effect.

Fix both of these things by doing a complete write to the FPSCR
using the helper function.

3ddba9a9e9 migration: Replace migration's JSON writer by the general one
Commit 8118f0950f "migration: Append JSON description of migration

good fit, because it requires building a QObject to convert. Instead,
migration got its very own JSON writer, in commit 190c882ce2 "QJSON:

54aa3de72e qapi: Use QAPI_LIST_PREPEND() where possible
Anywhere we create a list of just one item or by prepending items
(typically because order doesn't matter), we can use
QAPI_LIST_PREPEND(). But places where we must keep the list in order
by appending remain open-coded until later patches.

Note that as a side effect, this also performs a cleanup of two minor
issues in qga/commands-posix.c: the old code was performing
 new = g_malloc0(sizeof(*ret));
which 1) is confusing because you have to verify whether 'new' and
'ret' are variables with the same type, and 2) would conflict with C++
compilation (not an actual problem for this file, but makes
copy-and-paste harder).

 * an RFSR register which will RAZ/WI
 * a RAZ/WI AIRCR.IESB bit
-- the code which handles writes to AIRCR does not allow setting

      noting that this is deliberate
 * minimal implementation of the RAS register block at 0xe0005000

32a290b8c3 target/arm: Refactor M-profile VMSR/VMRS handling
Currently M-profile borrows the A-profile code for VMSR and VMRS
(access to the FP system registers), because all it needs to support
is the FPSCR. In v8.1M things become significantly more complicated
in two ways:

 * there are several new FP system registers; some have side effects
on read, and one (FPCXT_NS) needs to avoid the usual
vfp_access_check() and the "only if FPU implemented" check

 * all sysregs are now accessible both by VMRS/VMSR (which
reads/writes a general purpose register) and also by VLDR/VSTR
(which reads/writes them directly to memory)

Refactor the structure of how we handle VMSR/VMRS to cope with this:

 * keep the M-profile code entirely separate from the A-profile code

 * abstract out the "read or write the general purpose register" part
of the code into a loadfn or storefn function pointer, so we can
   reuse it for VLDR/VSTR.

6951595183 target/arm: Make SYS_HEAPINFO work with RAM that doesn't start at 0
The semihosting SYS_HEAPINFO call is supposed to return an array
of four guest addresses:
 * base of heap memory
 * limit of heap memory
 * base of stack memory
 * limit of stack memory

Some semihosting programs (including those compiled to use the
'newlib' embedded C library) use this call to work out where they
should initialize themselves to.

QEMU's implementation when in system emulation mode is very
simplistic: we say that the heap starts halfway into RAM and
continues to the end of RAM, and the stack starts at the top of RAM
and works down to the bottom. Unfortunately the code assumes that
the base address of RAM is at address 0, so on boards like 'virt'
where this is not true the addresses returned will all be wrong and
the guest application will usually crash.

Conveniently since all Arm boards call arm_load_kernel() we have the
base address of the main RAM block in the arm_boot_info struct which
is accessible via the CPU object. Use this to return sensible values
from SYS_HEAPINFO.

The effect was that if (for instance) Secure state was in privileged

The only places where we are using this function in a way that could
trigger this bug are for the stack loads during a v8M function-return

d1a9254be5 target/arm: Fix VUDOT/VSDOT (scalar) on big-endian hosts
The helper functions for performing the udot/sdot operations against
a scalar were not using an address-swizzling macro when converting
the index of the scalar element into a pointer into the vm array.
This had no effect on little-endian hosts but meant we generated
incorrect results on big-endian hosts.

For these insns, the index is indexing over group of 4 8-bit values,
so 32 bits per indexed entity, and H4() is therefore what we want.
(For Neon the only possible input indexes are 0 and 1.)

552714c081 target/arm: Fix float16 pairwise Neon ops on big-endian hosts
In the neon_padd/pmax/pmin helpers for float16, a cut-and-paste error
meant we were using the H4() address swizzler macro rather than the
H2() which is required for 2-byte data. This had no effect on
little-endian hosts but meant we put the result data into the
destination Dreg in the wrong order on big-endian hosts.
