cgd 21bbd49bf2 in vfs_shutdown(), print "syncing disks... " before dropping to spl0(),
so that if the drop to spl0() causes another panic (e.g. because there's
still some fatal hardware interrupt that's pending) we'll know that we
dropped IPL to sync the disks.

mhitch c108a0ce0b Fix another weird driver state. After sending the SCSI command to the target
after synch negotation during device probes, the 53C94 stops with the target
reqesting more command data. The fifo appears to still contain a couple of
bytes, so transfer them. If the target still wants command data after that,
do a transfer pad. The target seems to function normally after this. A
much better solution thant simply rebooting!
Also fix a problem when compiling with DIAGNOSTIC - a mismatch between using
DIAGNOSTIC and MACH_DIAGNOSTIC caused the compile to fail.
Try to start another target and a device disconnects.

cgd 2a9a4b6fde fix slight bogons in splhigh() usage, that were introduced when the
behaviour of splhigh() was changed. The new behaviour raised the level to
IPL_HIGH if it was lower, but left it alone if the same or higher. Apparently
the firmware transfers to NetBSD with all interrupts blocked, or something
else blocks all interrupts (including machine checks) before the code
is really started. This meant that machine checks were blocked during
device probes, leading to false device probes _and_ an unexpected (and
therefore fatal) machine check at the spl0() after autoconfiguration.

- Add NetBSD autoconfiguration support.
- Rearrange code slightly to minimize the number of #ifdefs.
- Don't use a structure to access CSRs. Use macros that DTRT for
  the NetBSD and FreeBSD cases.
- Deal with alignment contraint on Alpha - add 2-byte padding at the
beginning of the RFA, so that the data will be 4-byte aligned, after
  the 14-byte Ethernet header.
Thanks to Matthias Drochner for the testing, and David Greenman for
the feedback on the changes.

is 6d6e724440 Reorganize buserr/addrerr stuff, to allow omitting unused code in single-cpu
kernels, at the same time getting rid of up to 3 conditional branches and a
bit over one cacheline fetch (for the 68060; the saving is a bit smaller for
040 and yet smaller for the 020/30).
While we're here, also get rid of an redundant lea (using SP-relative
addressing) and of two redundant pushes.
While we're here, also fix a panic which would tear us down on 68060 machines
if a branch prediction error ever occured.

jtc 9d04fc8ed1 New zeropage() implementation based on code contributed by Hiroshi Horitomo
<horimoto@cs-aoi.cs.sist.ac.jp> in PR #3641. I changed the code slightly.
Instead of clearing 13 registers (d1-d7,a1-a6) and zeroing 512 bytes per
loop iteration, I clear 8 registers (d1-d7,a1) and zero 256 bytes. This
reduces the size and complexity of the function.

On the '020, the simpler code is less than 1% slower. Surprisingly, it
is ~3% faster on the '040.

gwr 01adc15274 Minor reorganization of nfs_mountroot code to simplify BOOTP support.
The RPC/bootparamd calls to get the root and swap paths are now done

does the RPC/mountd call. Also changed some panics into error returns.

thorpej a492e1df80 Add a kernel driver for the APCI 8250-like UARTs that live in the
Frodo ASIC, originally contributed by Mike Smith
<mike@pressed.spam.frisbee.net.au>, but reworked by me to:
- Essentially duplicate the dca driver, modifiying where necessary
  to work with the APCI.
- Deal with the different Frodo autoconfiguration model.
- Don't attach a tty to the 0th UART - it's not really useful for much
  more than the Domain keyboard.
- Added a routine to check for the existence of a DCA at select code 9.
On most models, the 1'th UART is mapped to select code 9 by the PROM,
and on these models, we do _NOT_ want to attach the device as an APCI.
However, on the 425e, this mapping does not take place, so we attach
as an APCI. The 2'th and 3'th UARTs always get tty instances.
- Add console support which will only be invoked on the 425e (i.e. check
for DCA at 9, and defer console to it if it exists).

1997-05-12 07:53:02 +00:00
thorpej eac0352a9e In kbdnmi(), after we have cleared the interrupt condition, reset
the machine, rather than simply returning to the assembly NMI handler.
Previously, the assembly handler would simply jump back to begin:, which
would frob the stack, and re-clear the BSS. However, this is not sufficient,
as there may be state in initialized data that must be restored. Thus,
the only reasonable solution is to re-load the boot block.

thorpej bbbc6052c1 Add a standalone APCI driver, adapted from the standalone DCA driver
by me. This driver should only be invoked when there are no other
suitable console devices present in the system. This situation currently
exists on the 425e, for which we do not have a frame buffer driver,
and who's PROM does not map the second APCI UART to select code 9,
like is done on the 4{00,25,33}{t,s}.

scottr ee80f1200e Implement new NuBus slot space mapping/probing code, utilizing bus.h (and
our MD bus_space_probe() extension). This has several side effects:

 - NuBus drivers must map and unmap slot space, rather than relying
on this happening before they are attached.
 - Functions exported to NuBus drivers from nubus.c now need to be
supplied with a bus space tag/handle pair.
 - Old bus map/peek functions can be garbage collected, as can pmap
   support for the same.

Because of some current limitations of the bus space specification, we
are violating the abstraction in grf_mv (NuBus grf driver). All such
violations are clearly marked /* XXX */, and must be addressed when
the specification is updated.
