With the LEON3 IRQ controller IRQs can be acknowledged 2 ways:
* Explicitly by software writing to the CLEAR_OFFSET register
* Implicitly when the procesor is done running the trap handler attached
to the IRQ.
The actual IRQMP code only allows the implicit processor triggered IRQ ack.
If software write explicitly to the CLEAR_OFFSET register, this will clear
the pending bit in the register value but this will not lower the ongoing
raised IRQ with the processor. The IRQ will be kept raised to the LEON
processor until the related trap handler is run and the processor implicitly
ack the interrupt. So with the actual IRQMP code trap handler have to be run
even if the software has already done its job by clearing the pending bit.
This feature has been tested on another LEON3 simulator (tsim_leon3 from
Gaisler) and it turns out that the Qemu implementation is not equivalent to
the tsim one. In tsim, if software does clear a pending interrupt before
the related interrupt handler is triggered the said interrupt handler will
not be called.
This patch brings the Qemu IRQMP implementation in line with the tsim
implementation by allowing IRQ to be acknowledged by software only.

Let's leverage the i8259 common code for kvm-i8259 too.
I think it's still possible that stats can lost when i8259 is in kernel
and meanwhile when irqfd is used, e.g., by vfio or vhost devices.
However that should be rare IMHO since they should be using MSIs mostly
if they really want performance (that's why people use vhost and device
assignment), and no old INTx should be used. As long as the INTx users
are emulated in QEMU the stats will be correct.
For "info pic", it should be always accurate since we fetch kvm regs

In the v7M architecture, there is an invariant that if the CPU is
in Handler mode then the CONTROL.SPSEL bit cannot be nonzero.
This in turn means that the current stack pointer is always
indicated by CONTROL.SPSEL, even though Handler mode always uses
the Main stack pointer.
In v8M, this invariant is removed, and CONTROL.SPSEL may now
be nonzero in Handler mode (though Handler mode still always
uses the Main stack pointer). In preparation for this change,
change how we handle this bit: rename switch_v7m_sp() to
the now more accurate write_v7m_control_spsel(), and make it
check both the handler mode state and the SPSEL bit.
Note that this implicitly changes the point at which we switch
active SP on exception exit from before we pop the exception

Now that we have a banked FAULTMASK register and banked exceptions,
we can implement the correct check in cpu_mmu_index() for whether
the MPU_CTRL.HFNMIENA bit's effect should apply. This bit causes
handlers which have requested a negative execution priority to run
with the MPU disabled. In v8M the test has to check this for the
current security state and so takes account of banking.

Update nvic_exec_prio() to support the v8M changes:
* BASEPRI, FAULTMASK and PRIMASK are all banked
* AIRCR.PRIS can affect NS priorities
* AIRCR.BFHFNMINS affects FAULTMASK behaviour
These changes mean that it's no longer possible to
definitely say that if FAULTMASK is set it overrides
PRIMASK, and if PRIMASK is set it overrides BASEPRI
(since if PRIMASK_NS is set and AIRCR.PRIS is set then
whether that 0x80 priority should take effect or the
priority in BASEPRI_S depends on the value of BASEPRI_S,
for instance). So we switch to the same approach used
by the pseudocode of working through BASEPRI, PRIMASK
and FAULTMASK and overriding the previous values if
needed.

In v8M, this changes because Secure HardFault may need

When escalating to HardFault, we must go into Lockup if we
can't take the synchronous HardFault because the current
execution priority is already at or below the priority of
HardFault. In v7M HF is always priority -1 so a simple < 0
comparison sufficed; in v8M the priority of HardFault can
vary depending on whether it is a Secure or NonSecure

In armv7m_nvic_set_pending() we have to compare the
priority of an exception against the execution priority
to decide whether it needs to be escalated to HardFault.
In the specification this is a comparison against the
exception's group priority; for v7M we implemented it
as a comparison against the raw exception priority
because the two comparisons will always give the
same answer. For v8M the existence of AIRCR.PRIS and
the possibility of different PRIGROUP values for secure
and nonsecure exceptions means we need to explicitly
calculate the vector's group priority for this check.

Instead of looking up the pending priority
in nvic_pending_prio(), cache it in a new state struct
field. The calculation of the pending priority given
the interrupt number is more complicated in v8M with
the security extension, so the caching will be worthwhile.
This changes nvic_pending_prio() from returning a full
(group + subpriority) priority value to returning a group
priority. This doesn't require changes to its callsites
because we use it only in comparisons of the form
execution_prio > nvic_pending_prio()
and execution priority is always a group priority, so
a test (exec prio > full prio) is true if and only if
(execprio > group_prio).
(Architecturally the expected comparison is with the
group priority for this sort of "would we preempt" test;
we were only doing a test with a full priority as an
optimisation to avoid the mask, which is possible
precisely because the two comparisons always give the
same answer.)

As part of ARMv8M, we need to add support for the PMSAv8 MPU
architecture.
PMSAv8 differs from PMSAv7 both in register/data layout (for instance
using base and limit registers rather than base and size) and also in
behaviour (for example it does not have subregions); rather than
trying to wedge it into the existing PMSAv7 code and data structures,
we define separate ones.
This commit adds the data structures which hold the state for a
PMSAv8 MPU and the register interface to it. The implementation of
the MPU behaviour will be added in a subsequent commit.

are not accessible to unprivileged accesses, which should
BusFault with a few exceptions:
* the STIR is configurably user-accessible

Implement this by switching the register access functions
to the _with_attrs scheme that lets us distinguish user

This allows us to pull the handling of the CCR.USERSETMPEND

We currently store the M profile CPU register state PRIMASK and
FAULTMASK in the daif field of the CPU state in its I and F
bits. This is a legacy from the original implementation, which
tried to share the cpu_exec_interrupt code between A profile
and M profile. We've since separated out the two cases because
they are significantly different, so now there is no common
code between M and A profile which looks at env->daif: all the
uses are either in A-only or M-only code paths. Sharing the state
fields now is just confusing, and will make things awkward
when we implement v8M, where the PRIMASK and FAULTMASK
registers are banked between security states.
Switch M profile over to using v7m.faultmask and v7m.primask

In order to emulate the adapter interruption suppression (AIS)
facility properly, the guest needs to be able to modify the AIS mask.
Interrupt suppression will be handled via the flic (for kvm, via a
recently introduced kernel backend; for !kvm, in the flic code), so
let's introduce a method to change the mode via the flic interface.
We introduce the 'simm' and 'nimm' fields to QEMUS390FLICState
to store interruption modes for each ISC. Each bit in 'simm' and
'nimm' targets one ISC, and collaboratively indicate three modes:
ALL-Interruptions, SINGLE-Interruption and NO-Interruptions. This
interface can initiate most transitions between the states; transition
from SINGLE-Interruption to NO-Interruptions via adapter interrupt
injection will be introduced in a following patch. The meaningful
combinations are as follows:
interruption mode | simm bit | nimm bit
------------------|----------|----------
ALL | 0 | 0
SINGLE | 1 | 0
NO | 1 | 1

When running with KVM enabled, you can choose between emulating the
gic in kernel or user space. If the kernel supports in-kernel virtualization
of the interrupt controller, it will default to that. If not, if will
default to user space emulation.
Unfortunately when running in user mode gic emulation, we miss out on
interrupt events which are only available from kernel space, such as the timer.
This patch leverages the new kernel/user space pending line synchronization for

Commit f6f4ce4211 ("s390x: add property adapter_routes_max_batch",
2016-12-09) introduces a common realize (intended to be common for all
the subclasses) for flic, but fails to make sure the kvm-flic which had
its own is actually calling this common realize.
This omission fortunately does not result in a grave problem. The common
realize was only supposed to catch a possible programming mistake by
validating a value of a property set via the compat machine macros. Since
there was no programming mistake we don't need this fixed for stable.
Let's fix this problem by making sure kvm flic honors the realize of its
parent class.
Let us also improve on the error message we would hypothetically emit

The ICPState objects are currently registered to vmstate as qdev objects.
Their instance ids are hence computed automatically in the migration code,
and thus depends on the order the CPU cores were plugged.
If the destination had its CPU cores plugged in a different order than the
source, then ICPState objects will have different instance_ids and load
the wrong state.
Since CPU objects have a reliable cpu_index which is already used as
instance_id in vmstate, let's use it for ICPState as well.
Please note that this doesn't break migration. Older machine types used to
allocate and realize all ICPState objects at machine init time, for the whole
lifetime of the machine. The qdev instance ids are thus 0,1,2... nr_servers
and happen to map to the vCPU indexes.

The getter and setter of TYPE_APIC_COMMON property "id" are
apic_common_get_id() and apic_common_set_id().
apic_common_get_id() reads either APICCommonState member uint32_t
initial_apic_id or uint8_t id into an int64_t local variable. It then
passes this variable to visit_type_int().
apic_common_set_id() uses visit_type_int() to read the value into a
local variable, which it then assigns both to initial_apic_id and id.
While the state backing the property is two unsigned members, 8 and 32
bits wide, the actual visitor is 64 bits signed.
Change getter and setter to use visit_type_uint32(). Then everything's
uint32_t, except for @id.

We need to handle both registers and ITS tables. While
register handling is standard, ITS table handling is more
challenging since the kernel API is devised so that the
tables are flushed into guest RAM and not in vmstate buffers.
Flushing the ITS tables on device pre_save() is too late
since the guest RAM is already saved at this point.
Table flushing needs to happen when we are sure the vcpus
are stopped and before the last dirty page saving. The
right point is RUN_STATE_FINISH_MIGRATE but sometimes the
VM gets stopped before migration launch so let's simply
flush the tables each time the VM gets stopped.
For regular ITS registers we just can use vmstate pre_save()

openpic_tmr_write() *is* correctly computing the offset by adding

This implementation has the same restriction as the R profile MPU

Since commit a45863bda9 ("xics_kvm: Don't enable KVM_CAP_IRQ_XICS if
already enabled"), we were able to re-hotplug a vCPU that had been hot-
unplugged ealier, thanks to a boolean flag in ICPState that we set when
enabling KVM_CAP_IRQ_XICS.
This could work because the lifecycle of all ICPState objects was the
same as the machine. Commit 5bc8d26de2 ("spapr: allocate the ICPState
object from under sPAPRCPUCore") broke this assumption and now we always
pass a freshly allocated ICPState object (ie, with the flag unset) to
icp_kvm_cpu_setup().
This cause re-hotplug to fail with:
Unable to connect CPU8 to kernel XICS: Device or resource busy
Let's fix this by caching all the vCPU ids for which KVM_CAP_IRQ_XICS was
enabled. This also drops the now useless boolean flag from ICPState.

commit 33cd52b5d7 unset
cannot_instantiate_with_device_add_yet in TYPE_SYSBUS, making all
sysbus devices appear on "-device help" and lack the "no-user"
flag in "info qdm".
To fix this, we can set user_creatable=false by default on
TYPE_SYS_BUS_DEVICE, but this requires setting
user_creatable=true explicitly on the sysbus devices that
actually work with -device.
Fortunately today we have just a few has_dynamic_sysbus=1
machines: virt, pc-q35-*, ppce500, and spapr.
virt, ppce500, and spapr have extra checks to ensure just a few
device types can be instantiated:
* virt supports only TYPE_VFIO_CALXEDA_XGMAC, TYPE_VFIO_AMD_XGBE.
* ppce500 supports only TYPE_ETSEC_COMMON.
* spapr supports only TYPE_SPAPR_PCI_HOST_BRIDGE.
This patch sets user_creatable=true explicitly on those 4 device
classes.
Now, the more complex cases:
pc-q35-*: q35 has no sysbus device whitelist yet (which is a
separate bug). We are in the process of fixing it and building a
sysbus whitelist on q35, but in the meantime we can fix the
"-device help" and "info qdm" bugs mentioned above. Also, despite
not being strictly necessary for fixing the q35 bug, reducing the
list of user_creatable=true devices will help us be more
confident when building the q35 whitelist.
xen: We also have a hack at xen_set_dynamic_sysbus(), that sets
has_dynamic_sysbus=true at runtime when using the Xen
accelerator. This hack is only used to allow xen-backend devices
to be dynamically plugged/unplugged.
This means today we can use -device with the following 22 device
types, that are the ones compiled into the qemu-system-x86_64 and
qemu-system-i386 binaries:
* allwinner-ahci
* amd-iommu
* cfi.pflash01
* esp
* fw_cfg_io
* fw_cfg_mem
* generic-sdhci
* hpet
* intel-iommu
* ioapic
* isabus-bridge
* kvmclock
* kvm-ioapic
* kvmvapic
* SUNW,fdtwo
* sysbus-ahci
* sysbus-fdc
* sysbus-ohci
* unimplemented-device
* virtio-mmio
* xen-backend
* xen-sysdev
This patch adds user_creatable=true explicitly to those devices,
temporarily, just to keep 100% compatibility with existing
behavior of q35. Subsequent patches will remove
user_creatable=true from the devices that are really not meant to
user-creatable on any machine, and remove the FIXME comment from
the ones that are really supposed to be user-creatable. This is
being done in separate patches because we still don't have an
obvious list of devices that will be whitelisted by q35, and I
would like to get each device reviewed individually.

efec3dd631 to replace no_user. It was
supposed to be a temporary measure.
When it was introduced, we had 54
cannot_instantiate_with_device_add_yet=true lines in the code.
Today (3 years later) this number has not shrunk: we now have
57 cannot_instantiate_with_device_add_yet=true lines. I think it
is safe to say it is not a temporary measure, and we won't see
the flag go away soon.
Instead of a long field name that misleads people to believe it

Kernel commit 17d48610ae0f ("KVM: PPC: Book 3S: XICS: Implement ICS

QEMU does not preserve these bits, so migrating (or otherwise saving
and restoring) the guest state causes the P and Q bits to be cleared.
Clearing the P bit has no effect, because the kernel will set it based
on other data, but the loss of a set Q bit will cause a lost
interrupt.

Today, all the ICPs are created before the CPUs, stored in an array
under the sPAPR machine and linked to the CPU when the core threads
are realized. This modeling brings some complexity when a lookup in
the array is required and it can be simplified by allocating the ICPs
when the CPUs are.
This is the purpose of this proposal which introduces a new 'icp_type'
field under the machine and creates the ICP objects of the right type
(KVM or not) before the PowerPCCPU object are.
This change allows more cleanups : the removal of the icps array under
the sPAPR machine and the removal of the xics_get_cpu_index_by_dt_id()

Today, the ICPState array of the sPAPR machine is indexed with
'cpu_index' of the CPUState. This numbering of CPUs is internal to
QEMU and the guest only knows about what is exposed in the device
tree, that is the 'cpu_dt_id'. This is why sPAPR uses the helper
xics_get_cpu_index_by_dt_id() to do the mapping in a couple of places.
To provide a more generic XICS layer, we need to abstract the IRQ
'server' number and remove any assumption made on its nature. It
should not be used as a 'cpu_index' for lookups like xics_cpu_setup()
and xics_cpu_destroy() do.
To reach that goal, we choose to introduce a generic 'intc' backlink
under PowerPCCPU, and let the machine core init routine do the
ICPState lookup. The resulting object is passed on to xics_cpu_setup()
which does the store under PowerPCCPU. The IRQ 'server' number in XICS
is now generic. sPAPR uses 'cpu_dt_id' and PowerNV will use 'PIR'
number.
This also has the benefit of simplifying the sPAPR hcall routines
which do not need to do any ICPState lookups anymore.

Currently xics - the component of the IBM POWER interrupt controller
representing the overall interrupt fabric / architecture is
represented as a descendent of SysBusDevice. However, this is not
really correct - the xics presents nothing in MMIO space so it should
be an "unattached" device in the current QOM model.
Since this device will always be created by the machine type, not created
specifically from the command line, and because it has no migrated state
it should be safe to move it around the device composition tree.
Therefore this patch changes it to a descendent of TYPE_DEVICE, and
makes it an unattached device. So that its reset handler still gets
called correctly, we add a qdev_set_parent_bus() to attach it to
sysbus. It's not really clear that's correct (instead of using
register_reset()) but it appears to a common technique.

Many NVIC operations access the CPU state, so store a pointer in
struct nvic_state rather than fetching it via qemu_get_cpu() every
time we need it.
As with the arm_gicv3_common code, we currently just call
qemu_get_cpu() in the NVIC's realize method, but in future we might
want to use a QOM property to pass the CPU to the NVIC.
This imposes an ordering requirement that the CPU is
realized before the NVIC, but that is always true since

Implement the architecturally required traps from NS EL1
to EL2 for the CPU interface registers. These fall into
several different groups:
* group-0-only registers all trap if ICH_HRC_EL2.TALL0 is set
(exactly the registers covered by gicv3_fiq_access())
* group-1-only registers all trap if ICH_HRC_EL2.TALL1 is set
(exactly the registers covered by gicv3_irq_access())
* DIR traps if ICH_HCR_EL2.TC or ICH_HCR_EL2.TDIR are set
* PMR, RPR, CTLR trap if ICH_HCR_EL2.TC is set
* SGI0R, SGI1R, ASGI1R trap if ICH_HCR_EL2.TC is set or
if HCR_EL2.IMO or HCR_EL2.FMO are set
We split DIR and the SGI registers out into their own access
functions, leaving the existing gicv3_irqfiq_access() just
handling PMR, RPR and CTLR.
This commit doesn't implement support for trapping on
HSTR_EL2.T12 for the 32-bit registers, as we don't implement
any of those per-coprocessor trap bits currently and
probably will want to do those in some more centralized way.

accessible only to the hypervisor which form the control

The function gicv3_cpuif_virt_update() which determines

As the first step in adding support for the virtualization
extensions to the GICv3 emulation:
* add the necessary data fields to the state structures
* add the fields to the migration state, as a subsection
which is only present if virtualization is enabled
The use of a subsection means we retain migration
compatibility as EL2 is not enabled on any CPUs currently.

Split irqchip works based on the fact that we kept the first 24 gsi
routing entries inside KVM for userspace ioapic's use. When system
boot, we'll reserve these MSI routing entries before hand. However,
after migration, we forgot to re-configure it up in the destination
side. The result is, we'll get invalid gsi routing entries after
migration (all empty), and we get interrupts with vector=0, then
strange things happen, like keyboard hang.
The solution is simple - we update them after migration, which is a
one line fix.

The GICv3 requires that we only signal Pending interrupts to
the CPU. This category does not include Pending+Active interrupts,
which means we need to check whether the interrupt is Active in
the gicr_int_pending() and gicd_int_pending() functions.
Interrupts are rarely in the Active+Pending state, but KVM
uses this as part of its handling of the virtual timer, so
this bug was causing KVM to go into an infinite loop of
taking the vtimer interrupt when the guest first triggered it.

This is completely broken, because .fieldoffset is for offsets

were only using this for reads to BPR0, AP0R<n>, IGRPEN0

To disburden the main folder a little bit, let's move the target-xxx

The ITS control frame is in-kernel emulated while accesses to the
GITS_TRANSLATER are mediated through the KVM_SIGNAL_MSI ioctl (MSI
direct MSI injection advertised by the CAP_SIGNAL_MSI capability)
the kvm_gsi_direct_mapping is explicitly set to false to emphasize the
difference with GICv2M. Direct mapping cannot work with ITS since
the content of the MSI data is not the target interrupt ID but an
eventd id.
GSI routing is advertised (kvm_gsi_routing_allowed) as well as
msi/irqfd signaling (kvm_msi_via_irqfd_allowed).
The MSI frame (GITS_TRANSLATER) absolute GPA is computed on first

Advertise gsi routing and set up irqchip routing entries for
GIC SPIs.
This is not mandated as long as MSI routing is not used
(because the kernel sets a default irqchip routing table).
However once MSI routing gets used (for VIRTIO-PCI vhost for

kernel default irqchip table.

Some old Linux kernels (upstream before v4.0), or any released RHEL
kernels has problem in sending APIC EOI when IR is enabled. Meanwhile,
many of them only support explicit EOI for IOAPIC, which is only
introduced in IOAPIC version 0x20. This patch provide a way to boost
QEMU IOAPIC to version 0x20, in order for QEMU to correctly receive EOI
messages.
Without boosting IOAPIC version to 0x20, kernels before commit d32932d
("x86/irq: Convert IOAPIC to use hierarchical irqdomain interfaces")
will have trouble enabling both IR and level-triggered interrupt devices
(like e1000).
To upgrade IOAPIC to version 0x20, we need to specify:
-global ioapic.version=0x20
To be compatible with old systems, 0x11 will still be the default IOAPIC
version. Here 0x11 and 0x20 are the only versions to be supported.
One thing to mention: this patch only applies to emulated IOAPIC. It
does not affect kernel IOAPIC behavior.

Let IOAPIC the first consumer of x86 IOMMU IEC invalidation
notifiers. This is only used for split irqchip case, when vIOMMU
receives IR invalidation requests, IOAPIC will be notified to update
kernel irq routes. For simplicity, we just update all IOAPIC routes,
even if the invalidated entries are not IOAPIC ones.
Since now we are creating IOMMUs using "-device" parameter, IOMMU
device will be created after IOAPIC. We need to do the registration
after machine done by leveraging machine_done notifier.

This patch translates all IOAPIC interrupts into MSI ones. One pseudo
ioapic address space is added to transfer the MSI message. By default,
it will be system memory address space. When IR is enabled, it will be
IOMMU address space.
Currently, only emulated IOAPIC is supported.

instance_id is generated by last_used_id + 1 for a given device type
so for QEMU with 3 CPUs instance_id for APICs is a seti of [0, 1, 2]
When CPU in the middle is hot-removed and migration started
APICs with instance_ids 0 and 2 are transferred in migration stream.
However target starts with 2 CPUs and APICs' instance_ids are
generated from scratch [0, 1] hence migration fails with error
Unknown savevm section or instance 'apic' 2
Fix issue by manually registering APIC's vmsd with apic_id as
instance_id, in this case instance_id on target will always
match instance_id on source as apic_id is the same for a given
cpu instance.

The Global Interrupt Controller (GIC) is responsible for mapping each
internal and external interrupt to the correct location for servicing.
The internal representation of registers is different from the specification
in order to consolidate information for each GIC Interrupt Sources and Virtual
Processors with same functionalities. For example SH_MAP00_VP00 registers are
defined like each bit represents a VP but in this implementation the equivalent
map_vp contains VP number in integer form for ease accesses. When it is being
accessed via read write functions an internal data is converted back into the
original format as the specification.

Move the GICv3 parent_irq and parent_fiq pointers into the
GICv3CPUState structure rather than giving them their own array.
This will make it easy to assert the IRQ and FIQ lines for a

gic_enable_irq
gic_disable_irq
gic_set_irq (inbound irq from device models)
gic_update_set_irq (outbound irq to CPU)
gic_acknowledge_irq
The only one that I think might raise eyebrows is gic_update_bestirq, but I've
(sadly) debugged problems that ended up being caused by unexpected priorities.
Knowing that the GIC has an irq ready, but doesn't deliver to the CPU due to
priority, has also proven important.

This patch replaces get_ticks_per_sec() calls with the macro
NANOSECONDS_PER_SECOND. Also, as there are no callers, get_ticks_per_sec()
is then removed. This replacement improves the readability and
understandability of code.
For example,
timer_mod(fdctrl->result_timer,
qemu_clock_get_ns(QEMU_CLOCK_VIRTUAL) + (get_ticks_per_sec() / 50));
NANOSECONDS_PER_SECOND makes it obvious that qemu_clock_get_ns

Commit 57cb38b included qapi/error.h into qemu/osdep.h to get the
Error typedef. Since then, we've moved to include qemu/osdep.h
everywhere. Its file comment explains: "To avoid getting into
possible circular include dependencies, this file should not include
any other QEMU headers, with the exceptions of config-host.h,
compiler.h, os-posix.h and os-win32.h, all of which are doing a
similar job to this file and are under similar constraints."
qapi/error.h doesn't do a similar job, and it doesn't adhere to
similar constraints: it includes qapi-types.h. That's in excess of
100KiB of crap most .c files don't actually need.
Add the typedef to qemu/typedefs.h, and include that instead of
qapi/error.h. Include qapi/error.h in .c files that need it and don't
get it now. Include qapi-types.h in qom/object.h for uint16List.
Update scripts/clean-includes accordingly. Update it further to match
reality: replace config.h by config-target.h, add sysemu/os-posix.h,
sysemu/os-win32.h. Update the list of includes in the qemu/osdep.h
comment quoted above similarly.
This reduces the number of objects depending on qapi/error.h from "all
of them" to less than a third. Unfortunately, the number depending on
qapi-types.h shrinks only a little. More work is needed for that one.

Using the return value to report errors is error prone:
- xics_alloc() returns -1 on error but spapr_vio_busdev_realize() errors
on 0
- xics_alloc_block() returns the unclear value of ics->offset - 1 on error
but both rtas_ibm_change_msi() and spapr_phb_realize() error on 0
This patch adds an errp argument to xics_alloc() and xics_alloc_block() to
report errors. The return value of these functions is a valid IRQ number
if errp is NULL. It is undefined otherwise.
The corresponding error traces get promotted to error messages. Note that
the "can't allocate IRQ" error message in spapr_vio_busdev_realize() also
moves to xics_alloc(). Similar error message consolidation isn't really
applicable to xics_alloc_block() because callers have extra context (device
config address, MSI or MSIX).
This fixes the issues mentioned above.

JSON uses "name":value, but many of our visitor interfaces were
called with visit_type_FOO(v, &value, name, errp). This can be
a bit confusing to have to mentally swap the parameter order to
match JSON order. It's particularly bad for visit_start_struct(),
where the 'name' parameter is smack in the middle of the
otherwise-related group of 'obj, kind, size' parameters! It's
time to do a global swap of the parameter ordering, so that the
'name' parameter is always immediately after the Visitor argument.
Additional reason in favor of the swap: the existing include/qjson.h
prefers listing 'name' first in json_prop_*(), and I have plans to
unify that file with the qapi visitors; listing 'name' first in
qapi will minimize churn to the (admittedly few) qjson.h clients.
Later patches will then fix docs, object.h, visitor-impl.h, and
those clients to match.
Done by first patching scripts/qapi*.py by hand to make generated
files do what I want, then by running the following Coccinelle
script to affect the rest of the code base:
$ spatch --sp-file script `git grep -l '\bvisit_' -- '**/*.[ch]'`
I then had to apply some touchups (Coccinelle insisted on TAB
indentation in visitor.h, and botched the signature of
visit_type_enum() by rewriting 'const char *const strings[]' to
the syntactically invalid 'const char*const[] strings'). The
movement of parameters is sufficient to provoke compiler errors
if any callers were missed.

report the error and fail cleanly. Do that.
The errors are all device misconfiguration. All callers use
qdev_init_nofail(), so this patch merely converts hw_error() crashes
into &error_abort crashes. Improvement, because now it crashes closer
to where the misconfiguration bug would be, and a few more bad
examples of hw_error() use are gone.

Some functions previously used only by vGICv2 are useful also for vGICv3
implementation. Untie them from GICState and make accessible from within
other modules:
- kvm_arm_gic_set_irq()
- kvm_gic_supports_attr() - moved to common code and renamed to
kvm_device_check_attr()
- kvm_gic_access() - turned into GIC-independent kvm_device_access().
Data pointer changed to void * because some GICv3 registers are
64-bit wide
Some of these changes are not used right now, but they will be helpful for
implementing live migration.
Actually kvm_dist_get() and kvm_dist_put() could also be made reusable, but
they would require two extra parameters (s->dev_fd and s->num_cpu) as well as
lots of typecasts of 's' to DeviceState * and back to GICState *. This makes
the code very ugly so i decided to stop at this point. I tried also an
approach with making a base class for all possible GICs, but it would contain
only three variables (dev_fd, cpu_num and irq_num), and accessing them through
the rest of the code would be again tedious (either ugly casts or qemu-style
separate object pointer). So i disliked it too.

If we directly boot a kernel in NonSecure on a system where the GIC

configure its interrupts into group 1 (NonSecure) rather than the
usual group 0, and with their initial priority set to the highest

Otherwise the guest kernel will be unable to use any interrupts.

The running_irq and last_active arrays represent state which
doesn't exist in a real hardware GIC. The only thing we use
them for is updating the running priority when an interrupt
is completed, but in fact we can use the active-priority
registers to do this. The running priority is always the
priority corresponding to the lowest set bit in the active
priority registers, because only one interrupt at any
particular priority can be active at once.

A GICv2 has both GICC_APR<n> and GICC_NSAPR<n> registers, with
the latter holding the active priority bits for Group 1 interrupts
(usually Nonsecure interrupts), and the Nonsecure view of the
GICC_APR<n> is the second half of the GICC_NSAPR<n> registers.
Turn our half-hearted implementation of APR<n> into a proper
implementation of both APR<n> and NSAPR<n>:
* Add the underlying state for NSAPR<n>
* Make sure APR<n> aren't visible for pre-GICv2

Priority values for the GIC are divided into a "group priority"
and a "subpriority" (with the division being determined by the
binary point register). The running priority is only determined
by the group priority of the active interrupts, not the
subpriority. In particular, this means that there can't be more
than one active interrupt at any particular group priority.

When we add new adapter routes we call kvm_irqchip_add_route() for every
virtqueue and in the same step also do the KVM_SET_GSI_ROUTING ioctl.
This is unnecessary costly as the interface allows us to set multiple
routes in one go. Let's first add all routes to the table stored in the
global kvm_state and then do the ioctl to commit the routes to the
in-kernel irqchip.
This saves us several ioctls to the kernel where for each call a list
is reallocated and populated.

When supporting CPU hot removal by parking the vCPU fd and reusing
it during hotplug again, there can be cases where we try to reenable
KVM_CAP_IRQ_XICS CAP for the vCPU for which it was already enabled.
Introduce a boolean member in ICPState to track this and don't
reenable the CAP if it was already enabled earlier.
Re-enabling this CAP should ideally work, but currently it results in
kernel trying to create and associate ICP with this vCPU and that
fails since there is already an ICP associated with it. Hence this
patch is needed to work around this problem in the kernel.

The ARM GICv2m widget is a little device that handles MSI interrupt
writes to a trigger register and ties them to a range of interrupt lines
wires to the GIC. It has a few status/id registers and the interrupt wires,
and that's about it.
A board instantiates the device by setting the base SPI number and
number SPIs for the frame. The base-spi parameter is indexed in the SPI
number space only, so base-spi == 0, means IRQ number 32. When a device
(the PCI host controller) writes to the trigger register, the payload is
the GIC IRQ number, so we have to subtract 32 from that and then index
into our frame of SPIs.
When instantiating a GICv2m device, tell PCI that we have instantiated
something that can deal with MSIs. We rely on the board actually wiring
up the GICv2m to the PCI host controller.

ICCICR/GICC_CTLR is banked in GICv1 implementations with Security
Extensions or in GICv2 in independent from Security Extensions.
This makes it possible to enable forwarding of interrupts from
the CPU interfaces to the connected processors for Group0 and Group1.
We also allow to set additional bits like AckCtl and FIQEn by changing
the type from bool to uint32. Since the field does not only store the
enable bit anymore and since we are touching the vmstate, we use the
opportunity to rename the field to cpu_ctlr.

non-secure copy of BPR in the abpr, which is an alias to the non-secure

ICDDCR/GICD_CTLR is banked if the GIC has the security extensions,
and the S (or only) copy has separate enable bits for Group0 and
Group1 enable if the GIC implements interrupt groups.
EnableGroup0 (Bit [1]) in GICv1 is architecturally IMPDEF. Since this
bit (Enable Non-secure) is present in the integrated GIC of the Cortex-A9
MPCore, we support this bit in our GICv1 implementation too.

Now that the GIC base class has state fields for the GICD_IGROUPRn
registers, make kvm_arm_gic_get() and kvm_arm_gic_put() write and
read them. This allows us to remove the check that made us
fail migration if the guest had set any of the group register bits.

The Interrupt Group Registers allow the guest to configure interrupts
into one of two groups, where Group0 are higher priority and may
be routed to IRQ or FIQ, and Group1 are lower priority and always
routed to IRQ. (In a GIC with the security extensions Group0 is
Secure interrupts and Group 1 is NonSecure.)
The GICv2 always supports interrupt grouping; the GICv1 does only
if it implements the security extensions.
This patch implements the ability to read and write the registers;
the actual functionality the bits control will be added in a
subsequent patch.
