61b83cc210 * Changed my doxygen comment markers from Qt to javadoc style, still 
leaving the tags Qt style though. That's a bit weird, but that's the
  way Axel likes it, and we want to keep him happy, don't we? ;-P
* The common_[path_]read_stat() now fills in st_dev and st_ino in the
  result stat structure after the FS had its go. The information is
  readily available in the VFS, so why bother the FSs. In fact devfs
  didn't (and still doesn't) fill in st_dev which gave dev_for_path()
  some head ache.
* Modified _user_open_parent_dir() to accept a NULL buffer for the
  entry name and added a doxygen comment for it.

df now works properly on Haiku (save that printf() doesn't support
floating point numbers at the moment).

86170a3cd5 * Got rid of devfs_cookie::stream. It was superfluous since one can 
always also access it through the devfs_vnode. This also solves an issue
  in devfs_read() where an access of a cookie->stream would crash the
  kernel, since cookie->stream was not set in devfs_open().
* devfs_open() now doesn't fail for directories and symlinks anymore.
  That prevented BNode to work for devfs dirs and symlinks.

1dae20235b If the /..' is /' then the name of the root node should consequently be 
`.'. This fixes the _kern_open_parent_dir() syscall for the root directory.

I realized, that rootfs_read_dir() doesn't return the entries `.' and `..',
unlike Be's rootfs. Shall I add those, Axel?

5958205f6c Fixed bug. There was an issue with unflattening. When moving dataPtr along the buffer to the next variable-size item, the padding was being incorrectly calculated (too large) because the four-byte size header was not being taken into account. E.g., for an 18-byte item, the padding was calculated as 6 bytes, rather than two, placing dataPtr directly past the size header for the next item. An incorrect value would be used as the size for the next item, which could result in anything from a segment violation to an allocation failure.

974d454507 Fixed bug. BMessageBody's assignment operator was making a generic copy of the map which maintains the data -- meaning only pointers to contained BMessageFields were being copied. Added Clone() operation to BMessageField and Copy() to BMessageFieldStoragePolicy, along with a specialization of BMessageFieldStoragePolicy for BDataBuffer; a straight copy of the vector is sufficient for all other data types. This fixes issues with BMessage unittests where BMessage, entry_ref, BFlattenable, and raw data are exercises.

0f3697566d The fs_readlink() function must work a bit differently in the new VFS API 
(ie. it needs to add the terminating null byte).
It now also properly fails if the link is too long for the provided buffer.
This allows us to resolve links on BFS volumes using Haiku again :)

2829b349c6 Added a "cookie" parameter to the vfs_read|write|has_page[s](). 
Added an vfs_get_cookie_from_fd() call to at least temporarily support the
cookie as in the original devfs (not sure yet how this changes).
Implemented vfs_get_file_map() which calls the corresponding FS function.
Moved vfs_get_vnode_cache() around.
vfs_get_vnode() temporarily does its job unlocked - its only to be used (safely)
from within the file cache, but this should definitely be done better.
Fixed a bug in get_vnode_name() - it did not support getting the name of
a root directory; it didn't pass the call through to the parent file system.
Fixed a bug in _user_entry_ref_to_path() which would add another "/" for
files immediately under the root (ie. "df" showed "//boot" as mount point
for the boot partition).

33efb91915 Almost rewrote the mouse input add-on to handle multiple devices, added usb devices monitoring (not tested as USB doesn't work on my machine). 
Now it generates the device name from the folder name (i.e. /dev/input/mouse/serial/0 ---> "serial mouse 1").

7f2ba8be02 Now clears out any remainders of the pages in the iovecs if the request 
couldn't be satisfied completely (ie. because the file size is not a
multiple of the page size).
It's no longer necessary to implement this functionality in the file systems.

8a715d82f6 turned off debug output in AppServer.cpp and ServerApp.cpp 
system palette is now hardcoded using Ingo's BBitmap code for a speedup and the ability to reference the server's system palette without the server actually running
Added some utility classes to make finishing DisplayDriver easier and cleaner
Removed a stray debugger call in DisplayDriver
Added a display mode conversion function to Utils.cpp
Began conversion of BitmapDriver to utilize PixelRenderer class where appropriate

f363b7231f Eliminated the internal device_info structure - the devfs will now store the 
node and its interface directly. It will also convert the old interface into
the new one to simplify the implementation.
devfs_open() now contains the former pnp_devfs_open() as well.
devfs_publish_device() no longer passes the "ident" parameter to its lower
layers - it will be removed.
The VM fs interface has changed to better match the one of the device interface.

50bd00fe1f added fixed CRTC FIFO watermark setup (in a temporary fashion). This should solve the 'bandwidth trouble' (memory fetch errors, noise on screen) on coldstarted cards. Tested and found OK on TNT2-M64. Coldstart is now just perfect there!

4872592920 Changed the way the vnode cache is set - it's now cleaner and can no longer 
allocate a cache twice.
The VFS is now responsible for allocating the cache object - it will call
the VM to do that if necessary.
Added another accessor call to a pointer to the VFS private vnode object.

b0c6c1df05 Let some bin commands now link against our libroot.so, so that we 
have more functions available (like strlcpy()).
Note, this might affect the functionality on R5. For example, the
"df" command will only work on Dano/Zeta, and of course, Haiku.

6179417d78 added last two coldstart script cmds for pre-NV10 cards. This should complete coldstart support for pre-NV10 cards with BIOS info struct V2 and later (i.e. TNT2). Please test and provide feedback! 
Note that FIFO watermark stuff still has to be setup (i.e. fix for CRTC fetching errors on coldstarted cards). So higher-res modes do not yet work reliably.

4826cc5f6a Added a (mostly not tested) _PointerList_ class. Please (Michael Pfeiffer or Ingo, whoever comes here first ) have a look at it :) 
Note that I needed to write my own BSearch() because the compare functions used by _PointerList_ wants items as arguments, while the C bsearch() wants pointers to items as arguments.
The same applies to qsort(), though it's not been written yet.

1980b54a21 Fixed a stupid bug in list_move_to_list(): it did not work for empty lists. 
The kernel no longer trashes memory when you delete a port without any
messages in its queue (i.e. you can now safely link against libbe.so :)).

b9a3a4663f Almost rewrote the "df" utility: 
- no longer uses BString for scary reasons
- bugs fixed, among others, argument parsing was broken
- removed verbose mode
- added possibility to get detailed info about a single volume
- former "human readable" is now default, added new option "-b|--blocks" to change back
- will always print complete mount point, but will also keep layout intact
- now hides special file systems by default - use new option "-a|--all" to make them visible again
- improved help text
- code cleanup

Cards works beautifully as full secondary card in system in 640x480 8-32bit color, 800x600 8-16 bit color, and 1024x768 in 8 bit color (60Hz tested). 
Go above that and you'll probably witness CRTC memory fetch errors (distortions, maybe like snow ;-)

efd87ab8df Had to change the mechanism for automatically generating most of the 
boring syscall stuff. It has two phases now: The first one
(gensyscallinfos) parses syscalls.h and generates a source file containing
all the required information. This file is compiled and linked to
gensyscalls, which generates the actual output files.
Added to the build.

d3efd9a6ef Implemented the basic I/O scheduler architecture - doesn't schedule anything 
yet, though (instead, it directly performs all requests, so there is no
functional difference to the previous mechanism).
devfs and the file cache will directly access the I/O scheduler. There is
one scheduler per raw disk device; devfs detects that automatically, and
all I/O will go through the scheduler, then.

7fdfbc9850 No longer disables the floppy motor if it was booted from a floppy - that 
somehow doesn't seem to work right with Bochs; after a reboot, the floppy
is not accessible (we might just need to turn the motor on again).

b430068a23 Implemented the enabling/disabling of menu items. 
"Continue boot" will now be disabled if there are no boot volumes.
Also, there will be an additional menu item "Reboot" in that case.
The boot device menu will now show a disabled "No boot devices found" label
then, and will be selected upon entry. Added a help text to "Rescan volumes"
which will also be selected upon entry if there is no boot device.

dd48c6dc23 Source parsing is now complete. 
Added options -c for "compiling" the source keymap to a binary keymap
and -o to name the output file. -o has to be before -c because i'm looping through cmd args.
Time to add keymap source files.

e6c0b53ddc Added filtering. Commented now former unused addon code. 
We now load and manage device and filter addons successfully.
Tested with nervous and InputRecorder devices and InputRecorder filter.
