0ddbd05362 spapr/target-ppc/kvm: Only add hcall-instructions if KVM supports it
ePAPR defines "hcall-instructions" device-tree property which contains
code to call hypercalls in ePAPR paravirtualized guests. In general
pseries guests won't use this property, instead using the PAPR defined
hypercall interface.

However, this property has been re-used to implement a hack to allow
PR KVM to run (slightly modified) guests in some situations where it
otherwise wouldn't be able to (because the system's L0 hypervisor
doesn't forward the PAPR hypercalls to the PR KVM kernel).

Hence, this property is always present in the device tree for pseries
guests. All KVM guests use it at least to read features via the
KVM_HC_FEATURES hypercall.

The property is populated by the code returned from the KVM's
KVM_PPC_GET_PVINFO ioctl; if not implemented in the KVM, QEMU supplies
code which will fail all hypercall attempts. If QEMU does not create
the property, and the guest kernel is compiled with
CONFIG_EPAPR_PARAVIRT (which is normally the case), there is exactly
the same stub at @epapr_hypercall_start already.

Rather than maintaining this fairly useless stub implementation, it
makes more sense not to create the property in the device tree in the
first place if the host kernel does not implement it.

This changes kvmppc_get_hypercall() to return 1 if the host kernel
does not implement KVM_CAP_PPC_GET_PVINFO. The caller can use it to decide
on whether to create the property or not.

This changes the pseries machine to not create the property if KVM does
not implement KVM_PPC_GET_PVINFO. In practice this means that from now
on the property will not be created if either HV KVM or TCG is used.

73bcb24d93 Replaced get_tick_per_sec() by NANOSECONDS_PER_SECOND
This patch replaces get_ticks_per_sec() calls with the macro
NANOSECONDS_PER_SECOND. Also, as there are no callers, get_ticks_per_sec()
is then removed. This replacement improves the readability and
understandability of code.

For example,

    timer_mod(fdctrl->result_timer,
	      qemu_clock_get_ns(QEMU_CLOCK_VIRTUAL) + (get_ticks_per_sec() / 50));

NANOSECONDS_PER_SECOND makes it obvious that qemu_clock_get_ns
matches the unit of the expression on the right side of the plus.

da34e65cb4 include/qemu/osdep.h: Don't include qapi/error.h
Commit 57cb38b included qapi/error.h into qemu/osdep.h to get the
Error typedef. Since then, we've moved to include qemu/osdep.h
everywhere. Its file comment explains: "To avoid getting into
possible circular include dependencies, this file should not include
any other QEMU headers, with the exceptions of config-host.h,
compiler.h, os-posix.h and os-win32.h, all of which are doing a
similar job to this file and are under similar constraints."
qapi/error.h doesn't do a similar job, and it doesn't adhere to
similar constraints: it includes qapi-types.h. That's in excess of
100KiB of crap most .c files don't actually need.

Add the typedef to qemu/typedefs.h, and include that instead of
qapi/error.h. Include qapi/error.h in .c files that need it and don't
get it now. Include qapi-types.h in qom/object.h for uint16List.

Update scripts/clean-includes accordingly. Update it further to match
reality: replace config.h by config-target.h, add sysemu/os-posix.h,
sysemu/os-win32.h. Update the list of includes in the qemu/osdep.h
comment quoted above similarly.

This reduces the number of objects depending on qapi/error.h from "all
of them" to less than a third. Unfortunately, the number depending on
qapi-types.h shrinks only a little. More work is needed for that one.

c18ad9a54b target-ppc: Eliminate kvmppc_kern_htab global
fa48b43 "target-ppc: Remove hack for ppc_hash64_load_hpte*() with HV KVM"
purports to remove a hack in the handling of hash page tables (HPTs)
managed by KVM instead of qemu. However, it actually went in the wrong
direction.

That patch requires anything looking for an external HPT (that is one not
managed by the guest itself) to check both env->external_htab (for a qemu
managed HPT) and kvmppc_kern_htab (for a KVM managed HPT). That's a
problem because kvmppc_kern_htab is local to mmu-hash64.c, but some places
which need to check for an external HPT are outside that, such as
kvm_arch_get_registers(). The latter was subtly broken by the earlier
patch such that gdbstub can no longer access memory.

Basically a KVM managed HPT is much more like a qemu managed HPT than it is
like a guest managed HPT, so the original "hack" was actually on the right
track.

This partially reverts fa48b43, so we again mark a KVM managed external HPT
by putting a special but non-NULL value in env->external_htab. It then
goes further, using that marker to eliminate the kvmppc_kern_htab global
entirely. The ppc_hash64_set_external_hpt() helper function is extended
to set that marker if passed a NULL value (if you're setting an external
HPT, but don't have an actual HPT to set, the assumption is that it must
be a KVM managed HPT).

This also has some flow-on changes to the HPT access helpers, required by
the above changes.

e5c0d3ce40 target-ppc: Add helpers for updating a CPU's SDR1 and external HPT
When a Power cpu with 64-bit hash MMU has it's hash page table (HPT)
pointer updated by a write to the SDR1 register we need to update some
derived variables. Likewise, when the cpu is configured for an external
HPT (one not in the guest memory space) some derived variables need to be
updated.

Currently the logic for this is (partially) duplicated in ppc_store_sdr1()
and in spapr_cpu_reset(). In future we're going to need it in some other
places, so make some common helpers for this update.

In addition the new ppc_hash64_set_external_hpt() helper also updates
SDR1 in KVM - it's not updated by the normal runtime KVM <-> qemu CPU
synchronization. In a sense this belongs logically in the
ppc_hash64_set_sdr1() helper, but that is called from
kvm_arch_get_registers() so can't itself call cpu_synchronize_state()
without infinite recursion. In practice this doesn't matter because
the only other caller is TCG specific.

Currently there aren't situations where updating SDR1 at runtime in KVM
matters, but there are going to be in future.

a7a00a729a target-ppc: Split out SREGS get/put functions
Currently the getting and setting of Power MMU registers (sregs) take up
large inline chunks of the kvm_arch_get_registers() and
kvm_arch_put_registers() functions. Especially since there are two
variants (for Book-E and Book-S CPUs), only one of which will be used in
practice, this is pretty hard to read.

This patch splits these out into helper functions for clarity. No

1bcea73e13 tcg: Add type for vCPU pointers
Adds the 'TCGv_env' type for pointers to 'CPUArchState' objects. The
tracing infrastructure later needs to differentiate between regular
pointers and pointers to vCPUs.

Also changes all targets to use the new 'TCGv_env' type instead of the
generic 'TCGv_ptr'. As of now, the change is merely cosmetic ('TCGv_env'
translates into 'TCGv_ptr'), but that could change in the future to
enforce the difference.

Note that a 'TCGv_env' type (for 'CPUState') is not added, since all
helpers currently receive the architecture-specific
pointer ('CPUArchState').

388e47c75b ppc/kvm: Tell the user what might be wrong when using bad CPU types with kvm-hv
Using a CPU type that does not match the host is not possible when using
the kvm-hv kernel module - the PVR is checked in the kernel function
kvm_arch_vcpu_ioctl_set_sregs_hv() and rejected with -EINVAL if it
does not match the host.
However, when the user tries to specify a non-matching CPU type, QEMU
currently only reports "kvm_init_vcpu failed: Invalid argument", and
this is of course not very helpful for the user to solve the problem.
So this patch adds a more descriptive error message that tells the
user to specify "-cpu host" instead.

072ed5f260 ppc/kvm: Use error_report() instead of cpu_abort() for user-triggerable errors
Setting the KVM_CAP_PPC_PAPR capability can fail if either the KVM
kernel module does not support it, or if the specified vCPU type
is not a 64-bit Book3-S CPU type. For example, the user can trigger
it easily with "-M pseries -cpu G2leLS" when using the kvm-pr kernel
module. So the error should not be reported with cpu_abort() since
this function is rather meant for reporting programming errors than
reporting user-triggerable errors (it prints out all CPU registers
and then calls abort() to kills the program - two things that the
normal user does not expect here) . So let's use error_report() with
exit(1) here instead.
A similar problem exists in the code that sets the KVM_CAP_PPC_EPR
capability, so while we're at it, fix that, too.

fa48b4328c target-ppc: Remove hack for ppc_hash64_load_hpte*() with HV KVM
With HV KVM, the guest's hash page table (HPT) is managed by the kernel and
not directly accessible to QEMU. This means that spapr->htab is NULL
and normally env->external_htab would also be NULL for each cpu.

However, that would cause ppc_hash64_load_hpte*() to do the wrong thing in
the few cases where QEMU does need to load entries from the in-kernel HPT.
Specifically, seeing external_htab is NULL, they would look for an HPT
within the guest's address space instead.

To stop that we have an ugly hack in the pseries machine type code to
set external htab to (void *)1 instead.

This patch removes that hack by having ppc_hash64_load_hpte*() explicitly
check kvmppc_kern_htab instead, which makes more sense.

51e72bc1dd qapi: Swap visit_* arguments for consistent 'name' placement
JSON uses "name":value, but many of our visitor interfaces were
called with visit_type_FOO(v, &value, name, errp). This can be
a bit confusing to have to mentally swap the parameter order to
match JSON order. It's particularly bad for visit_start_struct(),
where the 'name' parameter is smack in the middle of the
otherwise-related group of 'obj, kind, size' parameters! It's
time to do a global swap of the parameter ordering, so that the
'name' parameter is always immediately after the Visitor argument.

Additional reason in favor of the swap: the existing include/qjson.h
prefers listing 'name' first in json_prop_*(), and I have plans to
unify that file with the qapi visitors; listing 'name' first in
qapi will minimize churn to the (admittedly few) qjson.h clients.

Later patches will then fix docs, object.h, visitor-impl.h, and
those clients to match.

Done by first patching scripts/qapi*.py by hand to make generated
files do what I want, then by running the following Coccinelle
script to affect the rest of the code base:
 $ spatch --sp-file script `git grep -l '\bvisit_' -- '**/*.[ch]'`
I then had to apply some touchups (Coccinelle insisted on TAB
indentation in visitor.h, and botched the signature of
visit_type_enum() by rewriting 'const char *const strings[]' to
the syntactically invalid 'const char*const[] strings'). The
movement of parameters is sufficient to provoke compiler errors
if any callers were missed.

d1277156b5 target-ppc: mcrfs should always update FEX/VX and only clear exception bits
Here is the description of the mcrfs instruction from the PowerPC Architecture
Book, Version 2.02, Book I: PowerPC User Instruction Set Architecture
(http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/systems/library/es-archguide-v2.html), found
on page 120:

    The contents of FPSCR field BFA are copied to Condition Register field BF.
    All exception bits copied are set to 0 in the FPSCR. If the FX bit is
    copied, it is set to 0 in the FPSCR.

    Special Registers Altered:
        CR field BF
        FX OX                        (if BFA=0)
        UX ZX XX VXSNAN (if BFA=1)
        VXISI VXIDI VXZDZ VXIMZ (if BFA=2)
        VXVC                         (if BFA=3)
        VXSOFT VXSQRT VXCVI          (if BFA=5)

However, currently every bit in FPSCR field BFA is set to 0, including ones not
on that list.

This can be seen in the following simple C program:

    #include <fenv.h>
    #include <stdio.h>

    int main(int argc, char **argv) {
        int ret;
        ret = fegetround();
        printf("Current rounding: %d\n", ret);
        ret = fesetround(FE_UPWARD);
        printf("Setting to FE_UPWARD (%d): %d\n", FE_UPWARD, ret);
        ret = fegetround();
        printf("Current rounding: %d\n", ret);
        ret = fegetround();
        printf("Current rounding: %d\n", ret);
        return 0;
    }

which gave the output (before this commit):

    Current rounding: 0
    Setting to FE_UPWARD (2): 0
    Current rounding: 2
    Current rounding: 0

instead of (after this commit):

    Current rounding: 0
    Setting to FE_UPWARD (2): 0
    Current rounding: 2
    Current rounding: 2

The relevant disassembly is in fegetround(), which, on my system, is:

    __GI___fegetround:
    <+0>:   mcrfs  cr7, cr7
    <+4>:   mfcr   r3
    <+8>:   clrldi r3, r3, 62
    <+12>:  blr

What happens is that, the first time fegetround() is called, FPSCR field 7 is
retrieved. However, because of the bug in mcrfs, the entirety of field 7 is set
to 0, which includes the rounding mode.

There are other issues this will fix, such as condition flags not persisting
when they should if read, and if you were to read a specific field with some
exception bits set, but no others were set in the entire register, then the
bits would be cleared correctly, but FEX/VX would not be updated to 0 as they
should be.

1114e712c9 target-ppc: Helper to determine page size information from hpte alone
h_enter() in the spapr code needs to know the page size of the HPTE it's
about to insert. Unlike other paths that do this, it doesn't have access
to the SLB, so at the moment it determines this with some open-coded
tests which assume POWER7 or POWER8 page size encodings.

To make this more flexible add ppc_hash64_hpte_page_shift_noslb() to
determine both the "base" page size per segment, and the individual
effective page size from an HPTE alone.

This means that the spapr code should now be able to handle any page size

When HPTEs are removed or modified by hypercalls on spapr, we need to

Currently we do that by doing some complicated calculations to work out the

041d95f42e target-ppc: Remove unused mmu models from ppc_tlb_invalidate_one
ppc_tlb_invalidate_one() has a big switch handling many different MMU
types. However, most of those branches can never be reached:

It is called from 3 places: from remove_hpte() and h_protect() in
spapr_hcall.c (which always has a 64-bit hash MMU type), and from
helper_tlbie() in mmu_helper.c.

Calls to helper_tlbie() are generated from gen_tlbiel, gen_tlbiel and
gen_tlbiva. The first two are only used with the PPC_MEM_TLBIE flag,
set only with 32-bit or 64-bit hash MMU models, and gen_tlbiva() is
used only on 440 and 460 models with the BookE mmu model.

These means the exhaustive list of MMU types which may call
ppc_tlb_invalidate_one() is: POWERPC_MMU_SOFT_6xx, POWERPC_MMU_601,
POWERPC_MMU_32B, POWERPC_MMU_SOFT_74xx, POWERPC_MMU_64B, POWERPC_MMU_2_03,
POWERPC_MMU_2_06, POWERPC_MMU_2_07 and POWERPC_MMU_BOOKE.

Clean up by removing logic for all other MMU types from
ppc_tlb_invalidate_one().

This means that ppc4xx_tlb_invalidate_virt() now has no callers, or rather,
makes it obvious that it has no callers. So, we remove that function as
well.

be18b2b53e target-ppc: Use actual page size encodings from HPTE
At present the 64-bit hash MMU code uses information from the SLB to
determine the page size of a translation. We do need that information to
correctly look up the hash table. However the MMU also allows a
possibly larger page size to be encoded into the HPTE itself, which is used
to populate the TLB. At present qemu doesn't check that, and so doesn't
support the MPSS "Multiple Page Size per Segment" feature.

This makes a start on allowing this, by adding an hpte_page_shift()
function which looks up the page size of an HPTE. We use this to validate
page sizes encodings on faults, and populate the qemu TLB with larger
page sizes when appropriate.

cd6a9bb6e9 target-ppc: Rework SLB page size lookup
Currently, the ppc_hash64_page_shift() function looks up a page size based
on information in an SLB entry. It open codes the bit translation for
existing CPUs, however different CPU models can have different SLB
encodings. We already store those in the 'sps' table in CPUPPCState, but
we don't currently enforce that that actually matches the logic in
ppc_hash64_page_shift.

This patch reworks lookup of page size from SLB in several ways:
  * ppc_store_slb() will now fail (triggering an illegal instruction
    exception) if given a bad SLB page size encoding
  * On success ppc_store_slb() stores a pointer to the relevant entry in
    the page size table in the SLB entry. This is looked up directly from
    the published table of page size encodings, so can't get out ot sync.
  * ppc_hash64_htab_lookup() and others now use this precached page size
    information rather than decoding the SLB values
  * Now that callers have easy access to the page_shift,
    ppc_hash64_pte_raddr() amounts to just a deposit64(), so remove it and
    have the callers use deposit64() directly.

VSID portion of the SLBE.

We're shortly going to want to do some SLB updates from other code where
it is more convenient to supply the slot number and ESID separately, so
rework this function and its callers to work this way.

As a bonus, this slightly simplifies the emulation of segment registers for

3a4b791b4c target-ppc: kvm: fix floating point registers sync on little-endian hosts
On VSX capable CPUs, the 32 FP registers are mapped to the high-bits
of the 32 first VSX registers. So if you have:

VSR31 = (uint128) 0x0102030405060708090a0b0c0d0e0f00

then

FPR31 = (uint64) 0x0102030405060708

The kernel stores the VSX registers in the fp_state struct following the
host endian element ordering.

On big-endian:

fp_state.fpr[31][0] = 0x0102030405060708
fp_state.fpr[31][1] = 0x090a0b0c0d0e0f00

On little-endian:

fp_state.fpr[31][0] = 0x090a0b0c0d0e0f00
fp_state.fpr[31][1] = 0x0102030405060708

The KVM_GET_ONE_REG and KVM_SET_ONE_REG ioctls preserve this ordering, but
QEMU considers it as big-endian and always copies element [0] to the
fpr[] array and element [1] to the vsr[] array. This does not work with
little-endian hosts, and you will get:

(qemu) p $f31
0x90a0b0c0d0e0f00

instead of:

(qemu) p $f31
0x102030405060708

This patch fixes the element ordering for little-endian hosts.

0a9516c2d6 monitor/target-ppc: Define target_get_monitor_def
At the moment get_monitor_def() returns only registers from statically
defined monitor_defs array. However there is a lot of BOOK3S SPRs
which are not in the list and cannot be printed from the monitor.

This adds a new target platform hook - target_get_monitor_def().
The hook is called if a register was not found in the static
array returned by the target_monitor_defs() hook.

The hook is only defined for POWERPC, it returns registered
SPRs and fails on unregistered ones providing the user with information
on what is actually supported on the running CPU. The register value is
saved as uint64_t as it is the biggest supported register size;
target_ulong cannot be used because of the stub - it is in a "common"
code and cannot include "cpu.h", etc; this is also why the hook prototype
is redefined in the stub instead of being included from some header.

This replaces static descriptors for GPRs, FPRs, SRs with a helper which
looks for a value in a corresponding array in the CPUPPCState.
The immediate effect is that all 32 SRs can be printed now (instead of 16);
later this can be reused for VSX or TM registers.

This replaces callbacks for MSR and XER with static descriptors in
monitor_defs as they are stored in CPUPPCState.

While we are here, this adds "cr" as a synonym of "ccr".

6a81dd172c spapr_iommu: Rename vfio_accel parameter
The vfio_accel parameter used when creating a new TCE table (guest IOMMU
context) has a confusing name. What it really means is whether we need the
TCE table created to be able to support VFIO devices.

VFIO is relevant, because when available we use in-kernel acceleration of
the TCE table, but that may not work with VFIO devices because updates to
the table are handled in kernel, bypass qemu and so don't hit qemu's
infrastructure for keeping the VFIO host IOMMU state in sync with the guest
IOMMU state.

Rename the parameter to "need_vfio" throughout. This is a cosmetic change,

4c315c2766 qdev: Protect device-list-properties against broken devices
Several devices don't survive object_unref(object_new(T)): they crash
or hang during cleanup, or they leave dangling pointers behind.

This breaks at least device-list-properties, because
qmp_device_list_properties() needs to create a device to find its
properties. Broken in commit f4eb32b "qmp: show QOM properties in
device-list-properties", v2.1.  Example reproducer:

    $ qemu-system-aarch64 -nodefaults -display none -machine none -S -qmp stdio
    {"QMP": {"version": {"qemu": {"micro": 50, "minor": 4, "major": 2}, "package": ""}, "capabilities": []}}
    { "execute": "qmp_capabilities" }
    {"return": {}}
    { "execute": "device-list-properties", "arguments": { "typename": "pxa2xx-pcmcia" } }
    qemu-system-aarch64: /home/armbru/work/qemu/memory.c:1307: memory_region_finalize: Assertion `((&mr->subregions)->tqh_first == ((void *)0))' failed.
    Aborted (core dumped)
    [Exit 134 (SIGABRT)]

Unfortunately, I can't fix the problems in these devices right now.
Instead, add DeviceClass member cannot_destroy_with_object_finalize_yet
to mark them:

* Hang during cleanup (didn't debug, so I can't say why):
  "realview_pci", "versatile_pci".

* Dangling pointer in cpus: most CPUs, plus "allwinner-a10", "digic",
  "fsl,imx25", "fsl,imx31", "xlnx,zynqmp", because they create such
  CPUs

* Assert kvm_enabled(): "host-x86_64-cpu", host-i386-cpu",
  "host-powerpc64-cpu", "host-embedded-powerpc-cpu",
  "host-powerpc-cpu" (the powerpc ones can't currently reach the
  assertion, because the CPUs are only registered when KVM is enabled,
  but the assertion is arguably in the wrong place all the same)

Make qmp_device_list_properties() fail cleanly when the device is so
marked. This improves device-list-properties from "crashes, hangs or
leaves dangling pointers behind" to "fails". Not a complete fix, just
a better-than-nothing work-around.  In the above reproducer,
device-list-properties now fails with "Can't list properties of device
'pxa2xx-pcmcia'".

This also protects -device FOO,help, which uses the same machinery
since commit ef52358 "qdev-monitor: include QOM properties in -device
FOO, help output", v2.2. Example reproducer:

    $ qemu-system-aarch64 -machine none -device pxa2xx-pcmcia,help

Before:

    qemu-system-aarch64: .../memory.c:1307: memory_region_finalize: Assertion `((&mr->subregions)->tqh_first == ((void *)0))' failed.

After:

    Can't list properties of device 'pxa2xx-pcmcia'

4d9392be6c ppc/spapr: Implement H_RANDOM hypercall in QEMU
The PAPR interface defines a hypercall to pass high-quality
hardware generated random numbers to guests. Recent kernels can
already provide this hypercall to the guest if the right hardware
random number generator is available. But in case the user wants
to use another source like EGD, or QEMU is running with an older
kernel, we should also have this call in QEMU, so that guests that
do not support virtio-rng yet can get good random numbers, too.

This patch now adds a new pseudo-device to QEMU that either
directly provides this hypercall to the guest or is able to
enable the in-kernel hypercall if available. The in-kernel
hypercall can be enabled with the use-kvm property, e.g.:

 qemu-system-ppc64 -device spapr-rng,use-kvm=true

For handling the hypercall in QEMU instead, a "RngBackend" is
required since the hypercall should provide "good" random data
instead of pseudo-random (like from a "simple" library function
like rand() or g_random_int()). Since there are multiple RngBackends
available, the user must select an appropriate back-end via the
"rng" property of the device, e.g.:

 qemu-system-ppc64 -object rng-random,filename=/dev/hwrng,id=gid0 \
                   -device spapr-rng,rng=gid0 ...

See http://wiki.qemu-project.org/Features-Done/VirtIORNG for
other example of specifying RngBackends.

2d103aae87 target-ppc: fix hugepage support when using memory-backend-file
Current PPC code relies on -mem-path being used in order for
hugepage support to be detected. With the introduction of
MemoryBackendFile we can now handle this via:
  -object memory-file-backend,mem-path=...,id=hugemem0 \
  -numa node,id=mem0,memdev=hugemem0

Management tools like libvirt treat the 2 approaches as
interchangeable in some cases, which can lead to user-visible
regressions even for previously supported guest configurations.

Fix these by also iterating through any configured memory
backends that may be backed by hugepages.

Since the old code assumed hugepages always backed the entirety
of guest memory, play it safe an pick the minimum across the
max pages sizes for all backends, even ones that aren't backed
by hugepages.

4b8523ee89 kvm: First step to push iothread lock out of inner run loop
This opens the path to get rid of the iothread lock on vmexits in KVM
mode. On x86, the in-kernel irqchips has to be used because we otherwise
need to synchronize APIC and other per-cpu state accesses that could be
changed concurrently.

Regarding pre/post-run callbacks, s390x and ARM should be fine without
specific locking as the callbacks are empty. MIPS and POWER require
locking for the pre-run callback.

For the handle_exit callback, it is non-empty in x86, POWER and s390.
Some POWER cases could do without the locking, but it is left in
place for now.

5cd8cadae8 migration: Use normal VMStateDescriptions for Subsections
We create optional sections with this patch. But we already have
optional subsections. Instead of having two mechanism that do the
same, we can just generalize it.

For subsections we just change:

- Add a needed function to VMStateDescription
- Remove VMStateSubsection (after removal of the needed function
  it is just a VMStateDescription)
- Adjust the whole tree, moving the needed function to the corresponding
  VMStateDescription

026bfd89cb pseries: Enable in-kernel H_LOGICAL_CI_{LOAD, STORE} implementations
qemu currently implements the hypercalls H_LOGICAL_CI_LOAD and
H_LOGICAL_CI_STORE as PAPR extensions. These are used by the SLOF firmware
for IO, because performing cache inhibited MMIO accesses with the MMU off
(real mode) is very awkward on POWER.

This approach breaks when SLOF needs to access IO devices implemented
within KVM instead of in qemu. The simplest example would be virtio-blk
using an iothread, because the iothread / dataplane mechanism relies on
an in-kernel implementation of the virtio queue notification MMIO.

To fix this, an in-kernel implementation of these hypercalls has been made,
(kernel commit 99342cf "kvmppc: Implement H_LOGICAL_CI_{LOAD,STORE} in KVM"
however, the hypercalls still need to be enabled from qemu. This performs
the necessary calls to do so.

It would be nice to provide some warning if we encounter a problematic
device with a kernel which doesn't support the new calls. Unfortunately,
I can't see a way to detect this case which won't either warn in far too
many cases that will probably work, or which is horribly invasive.

993ebe4a0b target-ppc: don't invalidate msr MSR_HVB bit in cpu_post_load
The invalidation code introduced in commit 2360b works by inverting most bits
of env->msr to ensure that hreg_store_msr() will forcibly update the CPU env
state to reflect the new msr value post-migration. Unfortunately
hreg_store_msr() is called with alter_hv set to 0 which preserves the MSR_HVB
state from the CPU env which is now the opposite value to what it should be.

Ensure that we don't invalidate the msr MSR_HVB bit during cpu_post_load so
that the correct value is restored. This fixes suspend/resume for PPC64.

42a268c241 tcg: Change translator-side labels to a pointer
This is improved type checking for the translators -- it's no longer
possible to accidentally swap arguments to the branch functions.

Note that the code generating backends still manipulate labels as int.

With notable exceptions, the scope of the change is just a few lines
for each target, so it's not worth building extra machinery to do this
change in per-target increments.

d7586dc426 target-ppc: Add versions to server CPU descriptions
5b79b1c "target-ppc: Create versionless CPU class per family if KVM" added
a dynamic CPU class registration with the name of the CPU family which
QEMU is running on. For example, this allowed specifying "-cpu POWER7"
on every version of POWER7 machine, not just the one which POWER7 was
an alias of. I.e. before 5b79b1c, "-cpu POWER7" would not work on real
POWER7 2.1 and would work on POWER7 2.3 only. The same story for POWER8.

However that patch broke POWER5+ support as POWER5+ CPU uses the same
name as the CPU class so dynamic registering of the POWER5+ class failed.

This redefines POWER5+ server CPUs by adding a version to them and adding
an alias for TCG case. KVM will use dynamically registered CPUs.

While we are here, do the same for 970 CPU.

3ba55e399f PPC: Introduce the Virtual Time Base (VTB) SPR register
This patch adds basic support for the VTB.

PowerISA:
The Virtual Time Base (VTB) is a 64-bit incrementing counter.
Virtual Time Base increments at the same rate as the Time Base until its value
becomes 0xFFFF_FFFF_FFFF_FFFF (2 64 - 1); at the next increment its value
becomes 0x0000_0000_0000_0000. There is no interrupt or other indication when
this occurs.

The operation of the Virtual Time Base has the following additional
properties.
1. Loading a GPR from the Virtual Time Base has no effect on the accuracy of
the Virtual Time Base.
2. Copying the contents of a GPR to the Virtual Time Base replaces the
contents of the Virtual Time Base with the contents of the GPR.

ad3e67d05a target-ppc: Use right page size with hash table lookup
We look at two sizes specified in ISA (4K, 64K). If not found matching,

339aaf5b7f qemu-log: add log category for MMU info
Running barebox on qemu-system-mips* with '-d unimp' overloads
stderr by very very many mips_cpu_handle_mmu_fault() messages:

  mips_cpu_handle_mmu_fault address=b80003fd ret 0 physical 00000000180003fd prot 3
  mips_cpu_handle_mmu_fault address=a0800884 ret 0 physical 0000000000800884 prot 3
  mips_cpu_handle_mmu_fault pc a080cd80 ad b80003fd rw 0 mmu_idx 0

So it's very difficult to find LOG_UNIMP message.

The mips_cpu_handle_mmu_fault() messages appear on enabling ANY
logging! It's not very handy.

Adding separate log category for *_cpu_handle_mmu_fault()
logging fixes the problem.

88365d17d5 ppc: Add hw breakpoint watchpoint support
This patch adds hardware breakpoint and hardware watchpoint support
for ppc.

On BOOKE architecture we cannot share debug resources between QEMU
and guest because:
    When QEMU is using debug resources then debug exception must
    be always enabled. To achieve this we set MSR_DE and also set
    MSRP_DEP so guest cannot change MSR_DE.

    When emulating debug resource for guest we want guest
    to control MSR_DE (enable/disable debug interrupt on need).

    So above mentioned two configuration cannot be supported
    at the same time. So the result is that we cannot share
    debug resources between QEMU and Guest on BOOKE architecture.

In the current design QEMU gets priority over guest,
this means that if QEMU is using debug resources then guest
cannot use them and if guest is using debug resource then
qemu can overwrite them.

When QEMU is not able to handle debug exception then we inject program
exception to guest. Yes program exception NOT debug exception and the
reason is:
 1) QEMU and guest not sharing debug resources
 2) For software breakpoint QEMU uses a ehpriv-1 instruction;

 So there cannot be any reason that we are in qemu with exit reason
 KVM_EXIT_DEBUG for guest set debug exception, only possibility is
 guest executed ehpriv-1 privilege instruction and that's why we are
 injecting program exception.

658fa66b81 spapr: Move RMA memory region registration code
PPC970 does not support VRMA (virtual RMA) so real memory required
for SLOF to execute must be allocated by the KVM_ALLOCATE_RMA ioctl.
Later this memory is used as a part of the guest RAM area.
The RMA allocating code also registers a memory region for this piece
of RAM.

We are going to simplify memory regions layout: RMA memory region
will be a subregion in the RAM memory region, both starting from zero.
This way we will not have to take care of start address alignment for
the piece of RAM next to the RMA.

This moves memory region business closer to the RAM memory region
creation/allocation code.

As this is a mechanical patch, no change in behaviour is expected.

063cac5326 target-ppc: Fix number of threads per core limit
The number of threads per core is different for POWER6/7/8 CPUs.
Guest systems do not expect to see more threads per core than
a specific CPU supports so we need to limit this number.
This limit is implemented by ppc_get_compat_smt_threads().

However it has a problem as it checks for PCR (Processor Compatibility
Register) mask, 2.05 means 2 threads per core, 2.06 - 4 threads.
For POWER8 one would expect PCR_COMPAT_2_07 bit set and
ppc_get_compat_smt_threads() checking for it to return 8 threads
per core. But the latest PowerISA spec now is 2.07 and there is
no 2.07 compatibility mode defined, QEMU does not define it either
(will be in PowerISA 2.08).

Instead of relying on a PCR mask, this uses kvmppc_smt_threads()
which returns the maximum supported threads number for KVM or
1 for TCG.

b60c60070c target-ppc: Remove POWER7+ and POWER8E families
POWER8E is architecturally equal to POWER8 and POWER7+ is equal to
POWER7. Also no user space tool makes any difference for CPU node name
in the device tree (such as PowerPC,POWER7@0 vs. PowerPC,POWER7+@0).
So there is no point in emulating POWER7+ and POWER8E apart from POWER7
and POWER8. Also, the previos patch implemented multiple PVR mask support
per CPU class so POWER7 class now covers both POWER7 and POWER7+ CPUs,
same is valid for POWER8/8E.

This removes POWER7+ and POWER8E classes. This replaces references

03ae4133ab target-ppc: Add pvr_match() callback
So far it was enough to have a base PVR value and mask per CPU
family such as POWER7 or POWER8. However there CPUs which are
completely architecturally compatible but have different PVRs such
as POWER7/POWER7+ and POWER8/POWER8E. For these CPUs, top 16 bits
are CPU family and low 16 bits are the version. The families have
PVR base values different enough so defining a mask which
would cover both (or potentially more) CPUs within the family is
not possible.

This adds a pvr_match() callback to PowerPCCPUClass. The default
handler simply compares PVR defined in the class.

This implements ppc_pvr_match_power7/ppc_pvr_match_power8 callbacks
for POWER7/8 families. These check for POWER7/POWER7+ and POWER8/POWER8E.

This changes ppc_cpu_compare_class_pvr_mask() not to check masks but
use the pvr_match() callback.

Since all server CPUs use the same mask, this defines one mask
value - CPU_POWERPC_POWER_SERVER_MASK - which is used everywhere now.
This removes other mask definitions.

This removes pvr_mask from PowerPCCPUClass as it is not used anymore.
This removes pvr initialization for POWER7/8 families as it is not used
to find the class, the pvr_match() callback is used instead.

f6c3ebcc3b target-ppc: Add support for POWER8 pvr 0x4D0000
At the moment QEMU knows about one version of POWER8 CPU with
PVR 0x4B.0000. This CPU class is defined as "POWER8". The linux
kernel names it as "POWER8E" which is different from the name QEMU uses.

Now we get another version of POWER8 which is architecturally equivalent
to POWER8E but has different PVR 0x4D.0000 so QEMU fails to find
a PPC CPU class on these machines. The linux kernel names these CPUs as
"POWER8".

This renames the existing "POWER8" to "POWER8E" to be more precise and
stay in sync with the linux kernel.

This adds a new "POWER8" family which calls POWER8E class init function
and defines own PVR mask (used to match a CPU class) and desc (used to
create dynamic version-less CPU class).

This does not change CPU class fw_name attribute as the host POWER8
firmware keeps using "PowerPC,POWER8" on both POWER8 and POWER8E.

9bb62a0702 spapr_iommu: Make in-kernel TCE table optional
POWER KVM supports an KVM_CAP_SPAPR_TCE capability which allows allocating
TCE tables in the host kernel memory and handle H_PUT_TCE requests
targeted to specific LIOBN (logical bus number) right in the host without
switching to QEMU. At the moment this is used for emulated devices only
and the handler only puts TCE to the table. If the in-kernel H_PUT_TCE
handler finds a LIOBN and corresponding table, it will put a TCE to
the table and complete hypercall execution. The user space will not be
notified.

Upcoming VFIO support is going to use the same sPAPRTCETable device class
so KVM_CAP_SPAPR_TCE is going to be used as well. That means that TCE
tables for VFIO are going to be allocated in the host as well.
However VFIO operates with real IOMMU tables and simple copying of
a TCE to the real hardware TCE table will not work as guest physical
to host physical address translation is requited.

So until the host kernel gets VFIO support for H_PUT_TCE, we better not
to register VFIO's TCE in the host.

This adds a place holder for KVM_CAP_SPAPR_TCE_VFIO capability. It is not
in upstream yet and being discussed so now it is always false which means
that in-kernel VFIO acceleration is not supported.

This adds a bool @vfio_accel flag to the sPAPRTCETable device telling
that sPAPRTCETable should not try allocating TCE table in the host kernel
for VFIO. The flag is false now as at the moment there is no VFIO.

This adds an vfio_accel parameter to spapr_tce_new_table(), the semantic
is the same. Since there is only emulated PCI and VIO now, the flag is set
to false. Upcoming VFIO support will set it to true.

This is a preparation patch so no change in behaviour is expected

d13fc32ecf PPC: KVM: Make pv hcall endian agnostic
There were a few revisions of the Linux kernel that incorrectly swapped
the hcall instructions when they saw ePAPR compliant hypercalls.

We already have fixups for those in place when running with PR KVM, but
HV KVM and systems that don't implement hypercalls at all are still broken
because they fall back to the QEMU implementation of fallback hypercalls.

So let's make the fallback hypercall instruction path endian agnostic. This
only really works well for 64bit guests, but I don't think there are any 32bit
systems left that don't implement real pv hcall support, so we'll never get

7488d481ce target-ppc: Introduce and reuse generalized init_proc_book3s_64()
At the moment every POWER CPU family has its own init_proc_POWERX function.
E500 already has common init function so we try to do the same thing.

This introduces BOOK3S_CPU_TYPE enum with 2 values - 970 and POWER5+.

This introduces generalized init_proc_book3s_64() which accepts a CPU type
as a parameter.

This uses new init function for 970 and POWER5+ CPU classes.

970 and POWER5+ use the same CPU class initialization except 3 things:
1. logical partitioning is controlled by LPCR (POWER5+) and HID4 (970)
SPRs;
2. 970 does not have EAR (External Access Register) SPR and PowerISA 2.03
defines one so keep it only for POWER5+;
3. POWER5+ does not have ALTIVEC so insns_flags does not have PPC_ALTIVEC
flag set and gen_spr_book3s_altivec() won't init ALTIVEC for POWER5+.

This stops using 7xx common SPRs init function and adds separate set

This defines 970/book3s PMU SPRs constants as they differs from the ones

one for user privileged SPRs as "sup" versions can be shared across

0x01C00000 which means "deep nap", "doze" and "nap" bits set;
3. LPCR - 970 does not have it but 970MP had one (by mistake).

This fixes wrong differences and makes one 970 class.

This defines HID0 bits and uses them in check_pow_970().

This does not copy MSR_SHV (Hypervisor State, HV) bit from 970FX to

13b6a45565 PPC: e500: Merge 32 and 64 bit SPE emulation
Today we have a lot of conditional code in the SPE emulation depending on
whether we have 64bit GPRs or not.

Unfortunately the assumption that we can just recycle the 64bit GPR
implementation is wrong. Normal SPE implementations maintain the upper 32 bits
on all non-SPE instructions which then only modify the low 32 bits. However
all instructions we model that adhere to the normal SF based switching don't
care whether they operate on 32 or 64 bit registers and just always use the full
64 bits.

So let's remove that dubious SPE optimization and revert everything to the same
code path the 32bit target code was taking. That way we get rid of differences
between the two implementations, but will get a slight performance hit when
emulating SPE instructions.

This fixes SPE emulation with qemu-system-ppc64 for me.
