bb67ec32a0 target/hppa: Include PSW_P in tb flags and mmu index
Use a separate mmu index for PSW_P enabled vs disabled.
This means we can elide the tlb flush in cpu_hppa_put_psw
when PSW_P changes. This turns out to be the majority
of all tlb flushes.

f8c0fd9804 target/hppa: Move iaoq registers and thus reduce generated code size
On hppa the Instruction Address Offset Queue (IAOQ) registers specifies
the next to-be-executed instructions addresses. Each generated TB writes those
registers at least once, so those registers are used heavily in generated
code.

Looking at the generated assembly, for a x86-64 host this code
to write the address $0x7ffe826f into iaoq_f is generated:
0x7f73e8000184:  c7 85 d4 01 00 00 6f 82  movl     $0x7ffe826f, 0x1d4(%rbp)
0x7f73e800018c:  fe 7f
0x7f73e800018e:  c7 85 d8 01 00 00 73 82  movl     $0x7ffe8273, 0x1d8(%rbp)
0x7f73e8000196:  fe 7f

With the trivial change, by moving the variables iaoq_f and iaoq_b to
the top of struct CPUArchState, the offset to %rbp is reduced (from
0x1d4 to 0), which allows the x86-64 tcg to generate 3 bytes less of
generated code per move instruction:
0x7fc1e800018c:  c7 45 00 6f 82 fe 7f     movl     $0x7ffe826f, (%rbp)
0x7fc1e8000193:  c7 45 04 73 82 fe 7f     movl     $0x7ffe8273, 4(%rbp)

Overall this is a reduction of generated code (not a reduction of
number of instructions).
A test run with checks the generated code size by running "/bin/ls"
with qemu-user shows that the code size shrinks from 1616767 to 1569273
bytes, which is ~97% of the former size.

test succeeds and a value of 0 on failure in the target register.

But when run in linux-user mode, qemu currently simply returns the
return code of page_check_range() which returns 0 on success and -1 on
failure, which is the opposite of what proberi should return.

Fix it by checking the return code of page_check_range() and return the
expected return value.

The easiest way to reproduce the issue is by running
"/lib/ld.so.1 --version" in a chroot which fails without this patch.
At startup of ld.so the __canonicalize_funcptr_for_compare() function is
used to resolve the function address out of a function descriptor, which
fails because proberi (due to the wrong return code) seems to indicate
that the given address isn't accessible.

8929906e21 tcg: Remove dh_alias indirection for dh_typecode
The dh_alias redirect is intended to handle TCG types as distinguished
from C types. TCG does not distinguish signed int from unsigned int,
because they are the same size. However, we need to retain this
distinction for dh_typecode, lest we fail to extend abi types properly
for the host call parameters.

This bug was detected when running the 'arm' emulator on an s390
system. The s390 uses TCG_TARGET_EXTEND_ARGS which triggers code
in tcg_gen_callN to extend 32 bit values to 64 bits; the incorrect
sign data in the typemask for each argument caused the values to be
extended as unsigned values.

This simple program exhibits the problem:

	static volatile int num = -9;
	static volatile int den = -5;
	int main(void)
	{
		int quo = num / den;
		printf("num %d den %d quo %d\n", num, den, quo);
		exit(0);
	}

When run on the broken qemu, this results in:

	num -9 den -5 quo 0

The correct result is:

	num -9 den -5 quo 1

4a4554c6c5 hppa: Add support for an emulated TOC/NMI button.
Almost all PA-RISC machines have either a button that is labeled with 'TOC' or
a BMC/GSP function to trigger a TOC. TOC is a non-maskable interrupt that is
sent to the processor. This can be used for diagnostic purposes like obtaining
a stack trace/register dump or to enter KDB/KGDB in Linux.

This patch adds support for such an emulated TOC button.

It wires up the qemu monitor "nmi" command to trigger a TOC. For that it
provides the hppa_nmi function which is assigned to the nmi_monitor_handler
function pointer. When called it raises the EXCP_TOC hardware interrupt in the
hppa_cpu_do_interrupt() function. The interrupt function then calls the
architecturally defined TOC function in SeaBIOS-hppa firmware (at fixed address
0xf0000000).

According to the PA-RISC PDC specification, the SeaBIOS firmware then writes
the CPU registers into PIM (processor internal memmory) for later analysis. In
order to write all registers it needs to know the contents of the CPU "shadow
registers" and the IASQ- and IAOQ-back values. The IAOQ/IASQ values are
provided by qemu in shadow registers when entering the SeaBIOS TOC function.
This patch adds a new aritificial opcode "getshadowregs" (0xfffdead2) which
restores the original values of the shadow registers. With this opcode SeaBIOS
can store those registers as well into PIM before calling an OS-provided TOC
handler.

To trigger a TOC, switch to the qemu monitor with Ctrl-A C, and type in the
command "nmi". After the TOC started the OS-debugger, exit the qemu monitor
with Ctrl-A C.

converted docs/devel/tracing.txt to docs/devel/tracing.rst.

We still have several references to the old file, so let's fix them
with the following command:

  sed -i s/tracing.txt/tracing.rst/ $(git grep -l docs/devel/tracing.txt)

Use g2h_untagged in contexts that have no cpu, e.g. the binary
loaders that operate before the primary cpu is created. As a
colollary, target_mmap and friends must use untagged addresses,
since they are used by the loaders.

Use g2h_untagged on values returned from target_mmap, as the
kernel never applies a tag itself.

Use g2h_untagged on all pc values. The only current user of
tags, aarch64, removes tags from code addresses upon branch,
so "pc" is always untagged.

Use g2h with the cpu context on hand wherever possible.

Use g2h_untagged in lock_user, which will be updated soon.

7827168471 cpu: tcg_ops: move to tcg-cpu-ops.h, keep a pointer in CPUClass
we cannot in principle make the TCG Operations field definitions
conditional on CONFIG_TCG in code that is included by both common_ss
and specific_ss modules.

Therefore, what we can do safely to restrict the TCG fields to TCG-only
builds, is to move all tcg cpu operations into a separate header file,
which is only included by TCG, target-specific code.

This leaves just a NULL pointer in the cpu.h for the non-TCG builds.

This also tidies up the code in all targets a bit, having all TCG cpu
operations neatly contained by a dedicated data struct.

3ddba9a9e9 migration: Replace migration's JSON writer by the general one
Commit 8118f0950f "migration: Append JSON description of migration
stream" needs a JSON writer. The existing qobject_to_json() wasn't a
good fit, because it requires building a QObject to convert. Instead,
migration got its very own JSON writer, in commit 190c882ce2 "QJSON:
Add JSON writer". It tacitly limits numbers to int64_t, and strings
contents to characters that don't need escaping, unlike
qobject_to_json().

The previous commit factored the JSON writer out of qobject_to_json().
Replace migration's JSON writer by it.

d73415a315 qemu/atomic.h: rename atomic_ to qatomic_
clang's C11 atomic_fetch_*() functions only take a C11 atomic type
pointer argument. QEMU uses direct types (int, etc) and this causes a
compiler error when a QEMU code calls these functions in a source file
that also included <stdatomic.h> via a system header file:

  $ CC=clang CXX=clang++ ./configure ... && make
  ../util/async.c:79:17: error: address argument to atomic operation must be a pointer to _Atomic type ('unsigned int *' invalid)

Avoid using atomic_*() names in QEMU's atomic.h since that namespace is
used by <stdatomic.h>. Prefix QEMU's APIs with 'q' so that atomic.h
and <stdatomic.h> can co-exist. I checked /usr/include on my machine and
searched GitHub for existing "qatomic_" users but there seem to be none.

This patch was generated using:

  $ git grep -h -o '\<atomic\(64\)\?_[a-z0-9_]\+' include/qemu/atomic.h | \
    sort -u >/tmp/changed_identifiers
  $ for identifier in $(</tmp/changed_identifiers); do
        sed -i "s%\<$identifier\>%q$identifier%g" \
            $(git grep -I -l "\<$identifier\>")
    done

I manually fixed line-wrap issues and misaligned rST tables.

3b65b74254 target/hppa: Fix boot with old Linux installation CDs
The current qemu hppa emulation emulates a PA1.1 CPU, which can only execute
the 32-bit instruction set. For unknown 64-bit instructions, a instruction trap
is sent to the virtual CPU.
This behaviour is correct in the sense that we emulate what the PA1.1
specification says.

But when trying to boot older Linux installation images, e.g.
ftp://parisc.parisc-linux.org/debian-cd/debian-5.0/lenny-5.0.10-hppa-iso-cd/cdimage.debian.org/debian-5010-hppa-netinst.iso
one finds that qemu fails to boot those images.
The problem is, that in the Linux kernel (e.g. 2.6.26) of those old images
64-bit instructions were used by mistake in the fault handlers. The relevant
instructions (the ",*" indicates that it's a 64-bit instruction) I see are:
   0:   09 3e 04 29     sub,* sp,r9,r9
   0:   08 3d 06 3d     add,* ret1,r1,ret1
   0:   0a 09 02 61     or,* r9,r16,r1
   0:   0a ba 00 3a     andcm,* r26,r21,r26
   0:   08 33 02 33     and,* r19,r1,r19

The interesting part is, that real physical 32-bit machines (like the 700/64
and B160L - which is the one we emulate) do boot those images and thus seem to
simply ignore the 64-bit flag on those instructions.

The patch below modifies the qemu instruction decoder to ignore the 64-bit flag
too - which is what real 32-bit hardware seems to do. With this modification
qemu now successfully boots those older images too.

I suggest to apply the patch below - even if it does not reflect what the SPEC
says. Instead it increases the compatibility to really existing hardware and
seem to not create problems if we add real PA2.0 support anytime later.

df5c6a5094 hw/hppa: Make number of TLB and BTLB entries configurable
Until now the TLB size was fixed at 256 entries. To allow operating

Firmware then reports this to the operating system via the

This patch simply does the preparation to allow more TLB entries.

139c1837db meson: rename included C source files to .c.inc
With Makefiles that have automatically generated dependencies, you
generated includes are set as dependencies of the Makefile, so that they
are built before everything else and they are available when first
building the .c files.

Alternatively you can use a fine-grained dependency, e.g.

        target/arm/translate.o: target/arm/decode-neon-shared.inc.c

With Meson you have only one choice and it is a third option, namely
"build at the beginning of the corresponding target"; the way you
express it is to list the includes in the sources of that target.

The problem is that Meson decides if something is a source vs. a
generated include by looking at the extension: '.c', '.cc', '.m', '.C'
are sources, while everything else is considered an include---including
'.inc.c'.

Use '.c.inc' to avoid this, as it is consistent with our other convention
of using '.rst.inc' for included reStructuredText files. The editorconfig
file is adjusted.

243af0225a trace: switch position of headers to what Meson requires
Meson doesn't enjoy the same flexibility we have with Make in choosing
the include path. In particular the tracing headers are using
$(build_root)/$(<D).

In order to keep the include directives unchanged,
the simplest solution is to generate headers with patterns like
"trace/trace-audio.h" and place forwarding headers in the source tree
such that for example "audio/trace.h" includes "trace/trace-audio.h".

This patch is too ugly to be applied to the Makefiles now. It's only
a way to separate the changes to the tracing header files from the
Meson rewrite of the tracing logic.

781c67ca55 cpu: Use DeviceClass reset instead of a special CPUClass reset
The CPUClass has a 'reset' method. This is a legacy from when
TYPE_CPU used not to inherit from TYPE_DEVICE. We don't need it any
more, as we can simply use the TYPE_DEVICE reset. The 'cpu_reset()'
function is kept as the API which most places use to reset a CPU; it
is now a wrapper which calls device_cold_reset() and then the
tracepoint function.

This change should not cause CPU objects to be reset more often
than they are at the moment, because:
 * nobody is directly calling device_cold_reset() or
   qdev_reset_all() on CPU objects
 * no CPU object is on a qbus, so they will not be reset either
   by somebody calling qbus_reset_all()/bus_cold_reset(), or
   by the main "reset sysbus and everything in the qbus tree"
   reset that most devices are reset by

Note that this does not change the need for each machine or whatever
to use qemu_register_reset() to arrange to call cpu_reset() -- that
is necessary because CPU objects are not on any qbus, so they don't
get reset when the qbus tree rooted at the sysbus bus is reset, and
this isn't being changed here.

All the changes to the files under target/ were made using the
included Coccinelle script, except:

(1) the deletion of the now-inaccurate and not terribly useful
"CPUClass::reset" comments was done with a perl one-liner afterwards:
  perl -n -i -e '/ CPUClass::reset/ or print' target/*/*.c

(2) this bit of the s390 change was done by hand, because the
Coccinelle script is not sophisticated enough to handle the
parent_reset call being inside another function:

54d31236b9 sysemu: Split sysemu/runstate.h off sysemu/sysemu.h
sysemu/sysemu.h is a rather unfocused dumping ground for stuff related
to the system-emulator.  Evidence:

* It's included widely: in my "build everything" tree, changing
  sysemu/sysemu.h still triggers a recompile of some 1100 out of 6600
  objects (not counting tests and objects that don't depend on
  qemu/osdep.h, down from 5400 due to the previous two commits).

* It pulls in more than a dozen additional headers.

Split stuff related to run state management into its own header
sysemu/runstate.h.

Touching sysemu/sysemu.h now recompiles some 850 objects. qemu/uuid.h
also drops from 1100 to 850, and qapi/qapi-types-run-state.h from 4400
to 4200. Touching new sysemu/runstate.h recompiles some 500 objects.

Since I'm touching MAINTAINERS to add sysemu/runstate.h anyway, also
add qemu/main-loop.h.

ec150c7e09 include: Make headers more self-contained
Back in 2016, we discussed[1] rules for headers, and these were
generally liked:

1. Have a carefully curated header that's included everywhere first. We
   got that already thanks to Peter: osdep.h.

2. Headers should normally include everything they need beyond osdep.h.
   If exceptions are needed for some reason, they must be documented in
   the header. If all that's needed from a header is typedefs, put
   those into qemu/typedefs.h instead of including the header.

3. Cyclic inclusion is forbidden.

This patch gets include/ closer to obeying 2.

It's actually extracted from my "[RFC] Baby steps towards saner
headers" series[2], which demonstrates a possible path towards
checking 2 automatically. It passes the RFC test there.

90c84c5600 qom/cpu: Simplify how CPUClass:cpu_dump_state() prints
CPUClass method dump_statistics() takes an fprintf()-like callback and
a FILE * to pass to it. Most callers pass fprintf() and stderr.
log_cpu_state() passes fprintf() and qemu_log_file.
hmp_info_registers() passes monitor_fprintf() and the current monitor
cast to FILE *. monitor_fprintf() casts it right back, and is
otherwise identical to monitor_printf().

The callback gets passed around a lot, which is tiresome. The
type-punning around monitor_fprintf() is ugly.

Drop the callback, and call qemu_fprintf() instead. Also gets rid of
the type-punning, since qemu_fprintf() takes NULL instead of the
current monitor cast to FILE *.

0442428a89 target: Simplify how the TARGET_cpu_list() print
The various TARGET_cpu_list() take an fprintf()-like callback and a
FILE * to pass to it. Their callers (vl.c's main() via list_cpus(),
bsd-user/main.c's main(), linux-user/main.c's main()) all pass
fprintf() and stdout. Thus, the flexibility provided by the (rather
tiresome) indirection isn't actually used.

Drop the callback, and call qemu_printf() instead.

Calling printf() would also work, but would make the code unsuitable
for monitor context without making it simpler.

68aa851aa2 target/hppa: fix PSW Q bit behaviour to match hardware
PA-RISC specification says: "Setting the PSW Q-bit, PSW{28}, to 1
with this instruction, if it was not already 1, is an undefined
operation." However, at least HP-UX 10.20 sets the Q bit from 0 to 1
with the SSM instruction. Tested this both on HP9000/712 and
HP9000/785/C3750, both machines set the Q bit from 0 to 1 without
exception. This makes HP-UX 10.20 progress a little bit further.

5f538f7532 target/hppa: Raise exception 26 on emulated hardware
On PCXS chips (PA7000, pa 1.1a), trap #18 is raised on memory faults,
while all later chips (>= PA7100) generate either trap #26, #27 or #28
(depending on the fault type).

Since the current qemu emulation emulates a B160L machine (with a
PA7300LC PCX-L2 chip, we should raise trap #26 (EXCP_DMAR) instead
of #18 (EXCP_DMP) on access faults by the Linux kernel to page zero.

With the patch we now get the correct output (I tested against real
hardware):
 Kernel Fault: Code=26 (Data memory access rights trap)
instead of:
 Kernel Fault: Code=18 (Data memory protection/unaligned access trap)

24f91e81b6 target/*/cpu.h: remove softfloat.h
As cpu.h is another typically widely included file which doesn't need
full access to the softfloat API we can remove the includes from here
as well. Where they do need types it's typically for float_status and
the rounding modes so we move that to softfloat-types.h as well.

As a result of not having softfloat in every cpu.h call we now need to
add it to various helpers that do need the full softfloat.h
definitions.

For system mode, we will need 64-bit virtual addresses even when
we have 32-bit register sizes. Since the rest of QEMU equates
TARGET_LONG_BITS with the address size, redefine everything
related to register size in terms of a new TARGET_REGISTER_BITS.

98670d47cd accel/tcg: add size paremeter in tlb_fill()
The MC68040 MMU provides the size of the access that
triggers the page fault.

This size is set in the Special Status Word which
is written in the stack frame of the access fault
exception.

So we need the size in m68k_cpu_unassigned_access() and
m68k_cpu_handle_mmu_fault().

To be able to do that, this patch modifies the prototype of
handle_mmu_fault handler, tlb_fill() and probe_write().
do_unassigned_access() already includes a size parameter.

This patch also updates handle_mmu_fault handlers and
tlb_fill() of all targets (only parameter, no code change).

1c2adb958f tcg: Initialize cpu_env generically
This is identical for each target. So, move the initialization to
common code. Move the variable itself out of tcg_ctx and name it
cpu_env to minimize changes within targets.

This also means we can remove tcg_global_reg_new_{ptr,i32,i64},
since there are no longer global-register temps created by targets.

b1311c4acf tcg: define tcg_init_ctx and make tcg_ctx a pointer
Groundwork for supporting multiple TCG contexts.

The core of this patch is this change to tcg/tcg.h:

> -extern TCGContext tcg_ctx;
> +extern TCGContext tcg_init_ctx;
> +extern TCGContext *tcg_ctx;

Note that for now we set *tcg_ctx to whatever TCGContext is passed
to tcg_context_init -- in this case &tcg_init_ctx.

c5a49c63fa tcg: convert tb->cflags reads to tb_cflags(tb)
Convert all existing readers of tb->cflags to tb_cflags, so that we
use atomic_read and therefore avoid undefined behaviour in C11.

Note that the remaining setters/getters of the field are protected
by tb_lock, and therefore do not need conversion.

Luckily all readers access the field via 'tb->cflags' (so no foo.cflags,
bar->cflags in the code base), which makes the conversion easily
scriptable:

FILES=$(git grep 'tb->cflags' target include/exec/gen-icount.h \
	 accel/tcg/translator.c | cut -f1 -d':' | sort | uniq)

perl -pi -e 's/([^.>])tb->cflags/$1tb_cflags(tb)/g' $FILES
perl -pi -e 's/([a-z->.]*)(->|\.)tb->cflags/tb_cflags($1$2tb)/g' $FILES

Then manually fixed the few errors that checkpatch reported.

Compile-tested for all targets.
