38dec0ef76 docs: add a table showing x86-64 ABI compatibility levels
It is useful to know which CPUs satisfy each x86-64 ABI
compatibility level, when dealing with guest OS that require
something newer than the baseline ABI.

These ABI levels are defined in:

  https://gitlab.com/x86-psABIs/x86-64-ABI/

and supported by GCC, Clang, glibc and more.

a2cd86a94a hw/audio/sb16: Avoid assertion by restricting I/O sampling rate range
While the SB16 seems to work up to 48000 Hz, the "Sound Blaster Series
Hardware Programming Guide" limit the sampling range from 4000 Hz to
44100 Hz (Section 3-9, 3-10: Digitized Sound I/O Programming, tables
3-2 and 3-3).

Later, section 6-15 (DSP Commands) is more specific regarding the 41h /
42h registers (Set digitized sound output sampling rate):

  Valid sampling rates range from 5000 to 45000 Hz inclusive.

There is no comment regarding error handling if the register is filled
with an out-of-range value. (See also section 3-28 "8-bit or 16-bit
Auto-initialize Transfer"). Assume limits are enforced in hardware.

This fixes triggering an assertion in audio_calloc():

caff255a54 tpm: Return QMP error when TPM is disabled in build
When the management layer queries a binary built using --disable-tpm
for TPM devices, it gets confused by getting empty responses:

  { "execute": "query-tpm" }
  {
      "return": [
      ]
  }
  { "execute": "query-tpm-types" }
  {
      "return": [
      ]
  }
  { "execute": "query-tpm-models" }
  {
      "return": [
      ]
  }

To make it clearer by returning an error:
- Make the TPM QAPI schema conditional
  All of tpm.json is now 'if': 'defined(CONFIG_TPM)'.
- Adapt the HMP command
- Remove stubs which became unnecessary

The management layer now gets a 'CommandNotFound' error:

  { "execute": "query-tpm" }
  {
      "error": {
          "class": "CommandNotFound",
          "desc": "The command query-tpm has not been found"
      }
  }

d57bc3c109 hvf: Move assert_hvf_ok() into common directory
Until now, Hypervisor.framework has only been available on x86_64 systems.
With Apple Silicon shipping now, it extends its reach to aarch64. To
prepare for support for multiple architectures, let's start moving common
code out into its own accel directory.

This patch moves assert_hvf_ok() and introduces generic build infrastructure.

tests have block_resize. Since the vhost-user-blk export only serves one

afbdf0a44e docker: Add Hexagon image
This image is a little special because it takes a long time to build.
As such most users don't want to be doing that and just pull random
binaries from the ether as intended by the container gods. This
involves someone with credentials and a beefy machine running:

  make docker-image-debian-hexagon-cross V=1 NOCACHE=1 J=30
  docker tag qemu/debian-hexagon-cross registry.gitlab.com/qemu-project/qemu/qemu/debian-hexagon-cross
  docker push registry.gitlab.com/qemu-project/qemu/qemu/debian-hexagon-cross

With a suitable binary in the "cloud" a normal user will run:

  make docker-image-debian-hexagon-cross

or have it run for them through the dependency mechanism of our
over-engineered makefiles and get the binary they wanted. There are a
few wrinkles of course including needing to tweak the final image to
have the credentials of the user so we can actually do our cross
compiles.

875bb7e35b Remove the deprecated moxie target
There are no known users of this CPU anymore, and there are no
binaries available online which could be used for regression tests,
so the code has likely completely bit-rotten already. It's been
marked as deprecated since two releases now and nobody spoke up
that there is still a need to keep it, thus let's remove it now.

This adds a test for the Aspeed Hash and Crypto (HACE) engine. It tests
the currently implemented behavior of the hash functionality.

The tests are similar, but are cut/pasted instead of broken out into a
common function so the assert machinery produces useful output when a
test fails.

8cad15b156 util: add transactions.c
Add simple transaction API to use in further update of block graph
operations.

Supposed usage is:

- "prepare" is main function of the action and it should make the main
  effect of the action to be visible for the following actions, keeping
  possibility of roll-back, saving necessary things in action state,
  which is prepended to the action list (to do that, prepare func
  should call tran_add()). So, driver struct doesn't include "prepare"
  field, as it is supposed to be called directly.

- commit/rollback is supposed to be called for the list of action
  states, to commit/rollback all the actions in reverse order

- When possible "commit" should not make visible effect for other
  actions, which make possible transparent logical interaction between
  actions.

44b99a6d5f exec: Build page-vary-common.c with -fno-lto
In bbc17caf81, we used an alias attribute to allow target_page
to be declared const, and yet be initialized late.

This fails when using LTO with several versions of gcc.
The compiler looks through the alias and decides that the const
variable is statically initialized to zero, then propagates that
zero to many uses of the variable.

This can be avoided by compiling one object file with -fno-lto.
In this way, any initializer cannot be seen, and the constant
propagation does not occur.

Since we are certain to have this separate compilation unit, we
can drop the alias attribute as well. We simply have differing
declarations for target_page in different compilation units.
Drop the use of init_target_page, and drop the configure detection
for CONFIG_ATTRIBUTE_ALIAS.

In order to change the compilation flags for a file with meson,
we must use a static_library. This runs into specific_ss, where
we would need to create many static_library instances.

Fix this by splitting page-vary.c: the page-vary-common.c part is
compiled once as a static_library, while the page-vary.c part is
left in specific_ss in order to handle the target-specific value
of TARGET_PAGE_BITS_MIN.

7d6a4f123e net/eth: Read ip6_ext_hdr_routing buffer before accessing it
We can't know the caller read enough data in the memory pointed
by ext_hdr to cast it as a ip6_ext_hdr_routing.
Declare rt_hdr on the stack and fill it again from the iovec.

Since we already checked there is enough data in the iovec buffer,
simply add an assert() call to consume the bytes_read variable.

This fix a 2 bytes buffer overrun in eth_parse_ipv6_hdr() reported

230376d285 memory: add a sparse memory device for fuzzing
For testing, it can be useful to simulate an enormous amount of memory
(e.g. 2^64 RAM). This adds an MMIO device that acts as sparse memory.
When something writes a nonzero value to a sparse-mem address, we
allocate a block of memory. For now, since the only user of this device
is the fuzzer, we do not track and free zeroed blocks. The device has a
very low priority (so it can be mapped beneath actual RAM, and virtual
device MMIO regions).

9872ba0a8a MAINTAINERS: Merge the Gitlab-CI section into the generic CI section
The status of the gitlab-CI files is currently somewhat confusing, and
it is often not quite clear whether a patch should go via my tree or
via the testing tree of Alex. That situation has grown historically...
Initially, I was the only one using the gitlab-CI, just for my private
repository there. But in the course of time, the gitlab-CI switched to
use the containers from tests/docker/ (which is not part of the gitlab-CI
section in the MAINTAINERS file), and QEMU now even switched to gitlab.com
completely for the repository and will soon use it as its gating CI, too,
so it makes way more sense if the gitlab-ci.yml files belong to the people
who are owning the qemu-project on gitlab.com and take care of the gitlab
CI there. Thus let's merge the gitlab-ci section into the common "test and
build automation" section.

And while we're at it, I'm also removing the line with Fam there for now,
since he was hardly active during the last years in this area anymore.
If he ever gets more time for this part again in the future, we surely
can add the line back again. I'm also removing the Patchew URL from this
section now since Patchew's files are not tracked in the main QEMU repo
and it is also not maintained by Alex, Philippe and myself.
The maintainers of Patchew are still listed more accurately in the wiki on
https://wiki.qemu.org/AdminContacts & https://wiki.qemu.org/Testing/CI/Patchew
instead.

Now to avoid that Alex is listed here in this section alone, Philippe and
I agreed to help as backup maintainers here, too. And Willian volunteered
to be an additional reviewer.

a33ff6d2c6 hw/core: implement a guest-loader to support static hypervisor guests
Hypervisors, especially type-1 ones, need the firmware/bootcode to put
their initial guest somewhere in memory and pass the information to it
via platform data. The guest-loader is modelled after the generic
loader for exactly this sort of purpose:

  $QEMU $ARGS  -kernel ~/xen.git/xen/xen \
    -append "dom0_mem=1G,max:1G loglvl=all guest_loglvl=all" \
    -device guest-loader,addr=0x42000000,kernel=Image,bootargs="root=/dev/sda2 ro console=hvc0 earlyprintk=xen" \

65a9d3807e bsd-user: Add new maintainers
The FreeBSD project has a number of enhancements to bsd-user. These changes have
evolved over the past 10 year, and aren't currently updated to the latest
version of qemu due to fluxuations in staffing causing us to fall behind in the
past. We're working on porting all the changes forward and contributing all the
changes back to qemu. Add myself as maintainer and Kyle Evans as a reviewer for
changes. In addition, add a pointer to our github repo in the interim while this
work is ongoing.

1eca58aa1d tests/qtest/sse-timer-test: Add simple test of the SSE counter
Add a simple qtest to exercise the new system counter device in the
SSE-300.

We'll add tests of the system timer device here too, so this includes
scaffolding (register definitions, etc) for those.

4239b31146 hw/misc/sse-cpu-pwrctrl: Implement SSE-300 CPU<N>_PWRCTRL register block
The SSE-300 has a new register block CPU<N>_PWRCTRL. There is one
instance of this per CPU in the system (so just one for the SSE-300),
and as well as the usual CIDR/PIDR ID registers it has just one
register, CPUPWRCFG. This register allows the guest to configure
behaviour of the system in power-down and deep-sleep states. Since
QEMU does not model those, we make the register a dummy
reads-as-written implementation.
