junyoung e3ac3a4d0c Style fixes to reduce diff size against the FreeBSD version, notably:
- Use NULL where appropriate.
 - No need to pull in stdint.h.
 - Get rid of "register" keywords in the hope that the compiler will
   do a better job for us. :-)
 - Every message ends with a period.
 - MMAP() macro is supposed to return MAP_FAILED rather than -1 if it
   fails.
 - De-__P.

wennmach cf92bf760d Reimplement s_log1p.S and s_log1pf.S to use the fyl2xp1 instruction
where necessary.

The log1p() function is provided to compute an accurate value of
log(1 + x), even for tiny values of x. The i387 FPU provides the
fyl2xp1 instruction for this purpose.

However, since the range of the fyl2xp1 function is limited to
-(1 - (sqrt(2) / 2)) <= x <= sqrt(2) - 1
          (-0.292893 <= x <= 0.414214)
we need to check if the argument is in the valid range.

In order to reduce the cost for testing the range, we only use
fyl2xp1 if the argument is in the range
               -0.25 <= x <= 0.25
which can be checked with just one conditional branch.

Fixes PR lib/22599 by Ray Brownrigg.

matt f847c1a7f3 When updating wtmpx, if the write fails make sure to close the file (to
release the lock held on it). Use O_SHLOCK when adding just one record
since O_APPEND will enforce the atomicity that is required.

Not tested (as most of the pthread stuff on vax) but at least
allow the system to compile.

nathanw e1fb9dd8e8 In pthread__deliver_signal(), correctly use pt_trapuc or pt_uc as the
context-to-restore instead of always using pt_uc.

Fixes a problem with signal handlers for synchronous signals noted by
Matthias Drochner on current-users.

dsl 79b2073eea Significantly reduce the non-monotonicity of this function.
The way time is apportioned to interrupt/system/user makes it impossible
to guarantee monotonicity except by saving the previous value!
