dyoung 4758291178 Fix the checkflist for builds without Kerberos 4 (MKKERBEROS4=no)
and without Kerberos 4 & 5 (MKKERBEROS=no). Previously checkflist
complained of missing files.

* move kerberos- and kerberos 4-only files into new flists,
  distrib/sets/lists/*/krb.*

* make the flist generators grok MKKERBEROS{,4} variables

* fix Makefiles which treat MKKERBEROS=no as MKKERBEROS5=no.
  9 out of 10 experts agree that it is ludicrous to build w/
  KERBEROS4 and w/o KERBEROS5.

* fix header files, also, which treat MKKERBEROS=no as MKKERBEROS5=no.

* omit some Kerberos-only subdirectories from the build as
  MKKERBEROS{,4} indicate

(I acknowledge the sentiment that flists are the wrong way to go,
and that the makefiles should produce the metalog directly. That
sounds to me like the right way to go, but I am not prepared to do
revamp all the makefiles. While my approach is expedient, it fits
painlessly within the current build architecture until we are
delivered from flist purgatory, and it does not postpone our
delivery. Fair enough?)

agc 7db1d33cba Modify the licences of code written by Theo De Raadt from a 4-clause
to a 2-clause licence (retaining UCB clauses (1) and (2)), per PR
22409 from Joel Baker, approved by Theo de Raadt, and ratified by
myself - the only discrepancy being the handling of the original
clause 3 in src/usr.sbin/yppoll/yppoll.c.

lukem a9beb0e443 Tokenization function enhancements:
* Make tok_init(), tok_end(), tok_reset(), tok_line() and tok_str()
  publically available in <histedit.h>
* Documented the public functions in editline(3)
* Renamed tok_line() -> tok_str()
* Added new tok_line() which takes a "const LineInfo *" instead of
  "const char *" (the former has "cursor" information), and optionally
  return the argv index ("int *cursorc") and offset within that index
  ("int *cursorv"). This means that completion routines can use the
  tokenization code to crack the line and easily find which word the
  cursor is at. (mmm, context sensitive completion :)
* Fixed TEST/test.c when using "continuation" lines (unmatched quote
  or \ at EOL), and added some more DEBUG messages including highlighting
  where the cursor is (with a `_').

cl 196dbdcd2b - delay processing unblocked threads until after locks are resolved:
without the blocked/unblocked upcall ordering, an interrupted blocked

1) File name completion should list the files in the current directory
if no text is entered. The previous version wouldn't list anything if
the text to complete was empty.

2) When listing directories, the entries "." and ".." shouldn't be
shown.

3) The filename completion should be used if the user's
rl_attempted_completion_function doesn't return any matches. The
previous version didn't do that.

scw 789335a49c Xscale-optimised mem* routines. Contributed by Wasabi Systems.
(Note: memcmp/memset improvements also benefit non-Xscale).

memcmp()  - Compare 32-bits at a time if possible. Special-case 6-byte
            comparisons, for the benefit of the network stack.

memset() - More loop unrolling, plus use of 'strd' instruction,
bzero() results in > 100% speedup on Xscale.

memcpy() - Big-endian support, unrolled loops, 'strd/pld', plus special-
            cases for very common length/alignment combinations.
            Benchmarks show ~50% improvment on Xscale.

memmove() - Big-endian support. Use fast memcpy(), above, if the regions
bcopy()     don't overlap. Otherwise unchanged

XXX: The Xscale optimisations are not enabled by default, unless /etc/mk.conf
XXX: has the right compiler options. The intention is to pull them in via
XXX: something like libxscale.so, selected at runtime by ld.so.conf.
XXX: (Big-endian support is not affected by this).

wennmach cf92bf760d Reimplement s_log1p.S and s_log1pf.S to use the fyl2xp1 instruction
where necessary.

The log1p() function is provided to compute an accurate value of
log(1 + x), even for tiny values of x. The i387 FPU provides the
fyl2xp1 instruction for this purpose.

However, since the range of the fyl2xp1 function is limited to
-(1 - (sqrt(2) / 2)) <= x <= sqrt(2) - 1
          (-0.292893 <= x <= 0.414214)
we need to check if the argument is in the valid range.

In order to reduce the cost for testing the range, we only use
fyl2xp1 if the argument is in the range
               -0.25 <= x <= 0.25
which can be checked with just one conditional branch.

Fixes PR lib/22599 by Ray Brownrigg.

lukem 61be5790f1 Un-obsolete kerberosIV/des.h, and make it a symlink to ../des.h.
It can't be obsoleted because that causes builds with an old
${DESTDIR}/usr/include/kerberosIV/des.h to fail in directories which
have CPPFLAGS+=-I${DESTDIR}/usr/include/kerberosIV so that their #include
of <krb.h> works (and any subsequent #include <foo.h> by <krb.h>).
(Note: gcc3 won't work with a hack such as prepending -I${DESTDIR}/usr/include
before -I${DESTDIR}/usr/include/kerberosIV.)

Affected directories include lib/libkafs, and any thirdparty source
which used a similar -I/usr/include/kerberosIV hack to use <krb.h>.

lukem a93ea220fc Rework how dependency generation is performed:
* DPSRCS contains extra dependencies, but is _NOT_ added to CLEANFILES.
  This is a change of behaviour. If a Makefile wants the clean semantics
  it must specifically append to CLEANFILES.
  Resolves PR toolchain/5204.

* To recap: .d (depend) files are generated for all files in SRCS and DPSRCS
  that have a suffix of: .c .m .s .S .C .cc .cpp .cxx

* If YHEADER is set, automatically add the .y->.h to DPSRCS & CLEANFILES

* Ensure that ${OBJS} ${POBJS} ${LOBJS} ${SOBJS} *.d  depend upon ${DPSRCS}

* Deprecate the (short lived) DEPENDSRCS

Update the various Makefiles to these new semantics; generally either
adding to CLEANFILES (because DPSRCS doesn't do that anymore), or replacing
specific .o dependencies with DPSRCS entries.

Tested with "make -j 8 distribution" and "make distribution".

nathanw 6d30f1a3db Disable cancellation on the first lock, too, not just on internal
recursive locks (Duh).

Disable cancellation around the cond_wait() call, since that's also a
cancellation point. Arguably, that would be better handled with
pthread_cleanup_*(), but stubbing those for libc is difficult, and the
current non-exception-based implementation of cleanup handlers is
probably no faster than disabling and reenabling cancellation.
Finally, it only happens in the slow path where the thread is going to
sleep anyway...

When disabling cancellation, clear the pt_cancel flag if it was set
and note the cancellation request with PT_FLAG_CS_PENDING. This avoids

pthread_setcanclstate(PTHREAD_CANCEL_DISABLE) is called would still be
aceted upon before cancellation was re-enabled.

pthread_attr_{get,set}inheritsched()
pthread_attr_{get,set}scope()
pthread_attr_{get,set}stack()
pthread_attr_setstack{size,addr}()

Remove some useless assertions and error checks in the existing pthread_attr()
routines.

Implement pthread_attr_get_np(), to examine the attributes of an existing
thread. Idea and interface from FreeBSD.

nathanw ad09d62fcc Move guts of flockfile()/funlockfile() to __flockfile_internal(), which
takes an additional argument indicating whether this is an internal caller
taking the lock or an external (application) caller. When making an internal
lock, save the current thread cancellation state and disable cancellation
until the matching unlock. This should prevent canccelled threads from exiting
inside of stdio while holding a file lock and potentially leaving other
parts of the FILE structure in an inconsistent state.

lukem 7b6e5e6602 NOxxx= variables must appear before <bsd.own.mk> 2003-07-10 11:27:45 +00:00
lukem 001c68bd94 Rename a large chunk of the make(1) variables which refer to a
program/tool from "FOO" to "TOOL_FOO". The new variables are:
	TOOL_ASN1_COMPILE  TOOL_CAP_MKDB  TOOL_CAT  TOOL_CKSUM  TOOL_COMPILE_ET
	TOOL_CONFIG  TOOL_CRUNCHGEN  TOOL_CTAGS  TOOL_DB  TOOL_EQN  TOOL_FGEN
	TOOL_GENCAT  TOOL_GROFF  TOOL_HEXDUMP  TOOL_INDXBIB  TOOL_INSTALLBOOT
	TOOL_INSTALL_INFO  TOOL_M4  TOOL_MAKEFS  TOOL_MAKEINFO  TOOL_MAKEWHATIS
	TOOL_MDSETIMAGE  TOOL_MENUC  TOOL_MKCSMAPPER  TOOL_MKESDB
	TOOL_MKLOCALE  TOOL_MKMAGIC  TOOL_MKTEMP  TOOL_MSGC  TOOL_MTREE
	TOOL_PAX  TOOL_PIC  TOOL_PREPMKBOOTIMAGE  TOOL_PWD_MKDB  TOOL_REFER
	TOOL_ROFF_ASCII  TOOL_ROFF_DVI  TOOL_ROFF_HTML  TOOL_ROFF_PS
	TOOL_ROFF_RAW  TOOL_RPCGEN  TOOL_SOELIM  TOOL_SUNLABEL  TOOL_TBL
	TOOL_UUDECODE  TOOL_VGRIND  TOOL_ZIC

For each, provide default in <bsd.sys.mk> of the form:
	TOOL_FOO?=	foo
and for the ${USETOOLS}=="yes" case in <bsd.own.mk>, provide override:
	TOOL_FOO=	${TOOLDIR}/bin/${_TOOL_PREFIX}foo

Document all of these in bsd.README.

This cleans up a chunk of potential (and actual) namespace collision
within our build infrastructure, as well as improves consistency in
the share/mk documentation and provision of appropriate defaults for
each of these variables.
