d708f99d85 ui/vnc: refactor arrays of addresses to SocketAddressList
Let's use SocketAddressList instead of dynamic arrays.
Benefits:
 - Automatic cleanup: don't need specific freeing function and drop
   some gotos.
 - Less indirection: no triple asterix anymore!
 - Prepare for the following commit, which will reuse new interface of
   vnc_display_listen().

9a0a119a38 Added parameter to take screenshot with screendump as PNG
Currently screendump only supports PPM format, which is un-compressed. Added
a "format" parameter to QMP and HMP screendump command to support PNG image
capture using libpng.

QMP example usage:
{ "execute": "screendump", "arguments": { "filename": "/tmp/image",
"format":"png" } }

HMP example usage:
screendump /tmp/image -f png

95f8510ef4 Replacing CONFIG_VNC_PNG with CONFIG_PNG
Libpng is only detected if VNC is enabled currently. This patch adds a
generalised png option in the meson build which is aimed to replace use of
CONFIG_VNC_PNG with CONFIG_PNG.

80dd5aff1b block: add 'force' parameter to 'blockdev-change-medium' command
'blockdev-change-medium' is a convinient wrapper for the following
sequence of commands:
 * blockdev-open-tray
 * blockdev-remove-medium
 * blockdev-insert-medium
 * blockdev-close-tray
and should be used f.e. to change ISO image inside the CD-ROM tray.
Though the guest could lock the tray and some linux guests like
CentOS 8.5 actually does that. In this case the execution if this
command results in the error like the following:
  Device 'scsi0-0-1-0' is locked and force was not specified,
  wait for tray to open and try again.

This situation is could be resolved 'blockdev-open-tray' by passing
flag 'force' inside. Thus is seems reasonable to add the same
capability for 'blockdev-change-medium' too.

e03b56863d Replace config-time define HOST_WORDS_BIGENDIAN
Replace a config-time define with a compile time condition
define (compatible with clang and gcc) that must be declared prior to
its usage. This avoids having a global configure time define, but also
prevents from bad usage, if the config header wasn't included before.

This can help to make some code independent from qemu too.

gcc supports __BYTE_ORDER__ from about 4.6 and clang from 3.2.

b21e238037 Use g_new() & friends where that makes obvious sense
g_new(T, n) is neater than g_malloc(sizeof(T) * n).  It's also safer,
for two reasons. One, it catches multiplication overflowing size_t.
Two, it returns T * rather than void *, which lets the compiler catch
more type errors.

This commit only touches allocations with size arguments of the form
sizeof(T).

Patch created mechanically with:

    $ spatch --in-place --sp-file scripts/coccinelle/use-g_new-etc.cocci \
	     --macro-file scripts/cocci-macro-file.h FILES...

f844cdb997 ui/cocoa: capture all keys and combos when mouse is grabbed
Applications such as Gnome may use Alt-Tab and Super-Tab for different
purposes, some use Ctrl-arrows so we want to allow qemu to handle
everything when it captures the mouse/keyboard.

However, Mac OS handles some combos like Command-Tab and Ctrl-arrows
at an earlier part of the event handling chain, not letting qemu see it.

We add a global Event Tap that allows qemu to see all events when the
mouse is grabbed. Note that this requires additional permissions.

69221df8cd ui/cocoa: release mouse when user switches away from QEMU window
This resolves an issue where using command-tab to switch between QEMU
and other windows on the host can leave the mouse pointer visible.

By releasing the mouse when the user switches away, the user must left
click on the QEMU window when switching back in order to hide the
pointer and return control to the guest.

This appraoch ensures that the calls to NSCursor hide and unhide are
always balanced and thus work correctly when invoked.

cb8962c146 ui: do not create a surface when resizing a GL scanout
qemu_console_resize() will create a blank surface and replace the
current scanout with it if called while the current scanout is
GL (texture or dmabuf).

This is not only very costly, but also can produce glitches on the
display/listener side.

Instead, compare the current console size with the fitting console
functions, which also works when the scanout is GL.

Note: there might be still an unnecessary surface creation on calling
qemu_console_resize() when the size is actually changing, but display
backends currently rely on DisplaySurface details during
dpy_gfx_switch() to handle various resize aspects. We would need more
refactoring to handle resize without DisplaySurface, this is left for a
future improvement.

268c11984e ui/cocoa.m: Remove unnecessary NSAutoreleasePools
In commit 6e657e64cd in 2013 we added some autorelease pools to
deal with complaints from macOS when we made calls into Cocoa from
threads that didn't have automatically created autorelease pools.
Later on, macOS got stricter about forbidding cross-thread Cocoa
calls, and in commit 5588840ff7 we restructured the code to
avoid them. This left the autorelease pool creation in several
functions without any purpose; delete it.

We still need the pool in cocoa_refresh() for the clipboard related
code which is called directly there.

8d65dee2c4 ui/cocoa.m: Fix updateUIInfo threading issues
The updateUIInfo method makes Cocoa API calls. It also calls back
into QEMU functions like dpy_set_ui_info(). To do this safely, we
need to follow two rules:
 * Cocoa API calls are made on the Cocoa UI thread
 * When calling back into QEMU we must hold the iothread lock

Fix the places where we got this wrong, by taking the iothread lock
while executing updateUIInfo, and moving the call in cocoa_switch()
inside the dispatch_async block.

Some of the Cocoa UI methods which call updateUIInfo are invoked as
part of the initial application startup, while we're still doing the
little cross-thread dance described in the comment just above
call_qemu_main(). This meant they were calling back into the QEMU UI
layer before we'd actually finished initializing our display and
registered the DisplayChangeListener, which isn't really valid. Once
updateUIInfo takes the iothread lock, we no longer get away with
this, because during this startup phase the iothread lock is held by
the QEMU main-loop thread which is waiting for us to finish our
display initialization. So we must suppress updateUIInfo until
applicationDidFinishLaunching allows the QEMU main-loop thread to
continue.

0cd723f2d0 ui/cocoa: Remove allowedFileTypes restriction in SavePanel
setAllowedFileTypes is deprecated in macOS 12.

Per Akihiko Odaki [*]:

  An image file, which is being chosen by the panel, can be a
  raw file and have a variety of file extensions and many are not
  covered by the provided list (e.g. "udf"). Other platforms like
  GTK can provide an option to open a file with an extension not
  listed, but Cocoa can't. It forces the user to rename the file
  to give an extension in the list. Moreover, Cocoa does not tell
  which extensions are in the list so the user needs to read the
  source code, which is pretty bad.

Since this code is harming the usability rather than improving it,

From the call trace, we can see it is a deadlock bug.
vnc_disconnect_finish will acquire the output_mutex.
But, the output_mutex will be acquired again in vnc_clipboard_send.
Repeated locking will cause deadlock. So, I move
qemu_clipboard_peer_unregister() behind vnc_unlock_output();

142ca628a7 ui: add a D-Bus display backend
The "dbus" display backend exports the QEMU consoles and other
UI-related interfaces over D-Bus.

By default, the connection is established on the session bus, but you
can specify a different bus with the "addr" option.

The backend takes the "org.qemu" service name, while still allowing
further instances to queue on the same name (so you can lookup all the
available instances too). It accepts any number of clients at this
point, although this is expected to evolve with options to restrict
clients, or only accept p2p via fd passing.

The interface is intentionally very close to the internal QEMU API,
and can be introspected or interacted with busctl/dfeet etc:

$ ./qemu-system-x86_64 -name MyVM -display dbus
$ busctl --user introspect org.qemu /org/qemu/Display1/Console_0

f6413cbfd0 ui: simplify gl unblock & flush
GraphicHw.gl_flushed was introduced to notify the
device (vhost-user-gpu) that the GL resources (the display scanout) are
no longer needed.

It was decoupled from QEMU own gl-blocking mechanism, but that
difference isn't helping. Instead, we can reuse QEMU gl-blocking and
notify virtio_gpu_gl_flushed() when unblocking (to unlock
vhost-user-gpu).

An extra block/unblock is added arount dpy_gl_update() so existing
backends that don't block will have the flush event handled. It will
also help when there are no backends associated.

2e572baf65 ui/vnc-clipboard: fix adding notifier twice
vnc_server_cut_text_caps() is not guaranteed to be called only once.

If it called twice, we finally call notifier_list_add() twice with same
element. Which leads to loopback QLIST. So, on next
notifier_list_notify() we'll loop forever and QEMU stuck.

So, let's only register new notifier if it's not yet registered.

Note, that similar check is used in vdagent_chr_recv_caps() (before
call qemu_clipboard_peer_register()), and also before
qemu_clipboard_peer_unregister() call in vdagent_disconnect() and in
vnc_disconnect_finish().

c3abdb2faf ui/gtk: graphic_hw_gl_flushed after closing dmabuf->fence_fd
The dmabuf often becomes invalid right after unblocking pipeline

because the dmabuf associated with the current guest scanout is

So both graphic_hw_gl_block and graphic_hw_gl_flushed should be

014b00cc0a ui/console: remove chardev frontend connected test
The test if the chardev frontend is connected in
kbd_put_keysym_console() is redundant, because the call
to qemu_chr_be_can_write() in kbd_send_chars() tests
the connected condition again.

Remove the redundant test whether the chardev frontend
is connected.

760deab30e ui/gtk: Update the refresh rate for gl-area too
This is a bugfix that stretches all the way back to January 2020,
where I initially introduced this problem and potential solutions.

A quick recap of the issue: QEMU did not sync up with the monitors
refresh rate causing the VM to render frames that were NOT displayed
to the user. That "fix" allowed QEMU to obtain the screen refreshrate
information from the system using GDK API's and was for GTK only.

Well, I'm back with the same issue again. But this time on Wayland.

And I did NOT realize there was YET another screen refresh rate
function, this time for Wayland specifically. Thankfully the fix was
simple and without much hassle.

Thanks,
Nikola

PS: It seems that my patch has gone missing from the mailing list,
hence I'm sending it again. Sorry for any inconveniences.

7bce330ae4 ui/gtk: retry sending VTE console input
Commit 584af1f1d9 ("ui/gtk: add a keyboard fifo to the VTE
consoles") changed the VTE chardev backend code to rely on the
chr_accept_input() callback function. The code expects a
chr_accept_input() call whenever qemu_chr_be_can_write() bytes
were written. It turns out this is wrong. Some chardev
frontends only call this callback after can_write was 0.

Change the code to send data until the keyboard fifo is empty
or qemu_chr_be_can_write() returns 0.

584af1f1d9 ui/gtk: add a keyboard fifo to the VTE consoles
Since commit 8eb13bbbac ("ui/gtk: vte: fix sending multiple
characeters") it's very easy to lock up QEMU with the GTK ui.
If you configure a guest with a serial device and the guest
doesn't listen on this device, QEMU will lock up after
entering two characters in the serial console. That's because
current code uses a busy loop for the chardev write retries
and the busy loop doesn't terminate in this case.

To fix this problem add a fifo to the VTE consoles and use the
chr_accept_input() callback function to write the remaining
characters in the queue to the chardev.

The fifo has a size of 4096 bytes, so one can copy and paste
a fairly large URL or file path.

cd6c768f6a ui/gtk: Fix relative mouse with multiple monitors
To handle relative mouse input the event handler needs to move the mouse
away from the screen edges. Failing to do so results in the mouse
getting stuck at invisible walls. However the current implementation for
this is broken on hosts with multiple monitors.

With multiple monitors the mouse can be located outside of the current
monitor which is not handled by the current code. Also the monitor
itself might be located at coordinates different from (0, 0).

83bee4b51f crypto: replace 'des-rfb' cipher with 'des'
Currently the crypto layer exposes support for a 'des-rfb'
algorithm which is just normal single-DES, with the bits
in each key byte reversed. This special key munging is
required by the RFB protocol password authentication
mechanism.

Since the crypto layer is generic shared code, it makes
more sense to do the key byte munging in the VNC server
code, and expose normal single-DES support.

Replacing cipher 'des-rfb' by 'des' looks like an incompatible
interface change, but it doesn't matter. While the QMP schema
allows any QCryptoCipherAlgorithm for the 'cipher-alg' field
in QCryptoBlockCreateOptionsLUKS, the code restricts what can
be used at runtime. Thus the only effect is a change in error
message.

Original behaviour:

 $ qemu-img create -f luks --object secret,id=sec0,data=123 -o cipher-alg=des-rfb,key-secret=sec0 demo.luks 1G
 Formatting 'demo.luks', fmt=luks size=1073741824 key-secret=sec0 cipher-alg=des-rfb
 qemu-img: demo.luks: Algorithm 'des-rfb' not supported

New behaviour:

 $ qemu-img create -f luks --object secret,id=sec0,data=123 -o cipher-alg=des-rfb,key-secret=sec0 demo.luks 1G
 Formatting 'demo.luks', fmt=luks size=1073741824 key-secret=sec0 cipher-alg=des-fish

66c2207fd2 ui: Make the DisplayType enum entries conditional
Libvirt's "domcapabilities" command has a way to state whether certain
graphic frontends are available in QEMU or not. Originally, libvirt
looked at the "--help" output of the QEMU binary to determine whether
SDL was available or not (by looking for the "-sdl" parameter in the
help text), but since libvirt stopped doing this analysis of the help
text, the detection of SDL is currently broken, see:

 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1790902

QEMU should provide a way via the QMP interface instead. A simple way,
without introducing additional commands, is to make the DisplayType
enum entries conditional, so that the enum only contains the entries if
the corresponding CONFIG_xxx switches have been set. This of course
only gives an indication which possibilities have been enabled during
compile-time of QEMU (and does not take into account whether modules
are later available or not for example - for this we'd need a separate
command), but anyway, this should already be good enough for the above
bug ticket, and it's a good idea anyway to make the QMP interface
conditional here, so let's simply do it.

de74a22cc8 ui/vdagent: core infrastructure
The vdagent protocol allows the guest agent (spice-vdagent) and the
spice client exchange messages to implement features which require
guest cooperation, for example clipboard support.

This is a qemu implementation of the spice client side. This allows
the spice guest agent talk to qemu directly when not using the spice
protocol.

usage: qemu \
  -chardev qemu-vdagent,id=vdagent \
  -device virtserialport,chardev=vdagent,name=com.redhat.spice.0

This patch adds just the protocol basics: initial handshake and
capability negotiation. The following patches will add actual
functionality and also add fields to the initially empty
ChardevVDAgent qapi struct.
