Introduces a VFIO based AP device. The device is defined via
the QEMU command line by specifying:
-device vfio-ap,sysfsdev=<path-to-mediated-matrix-device>
There may be only one vfio-ap device configured for a guest.
The mediated matrix device is created by the VFIO AP device
driver by writing a UUID to a sysfs attribute file (see
docs/vfio-ap.txt). The mediated matrix device will be named
after the UUID. Symbolic links to the $uuid are created in
many places, so the path to the mediated matrix device $uuid
can be specified in any of the following ways:
/sys/devices/vfio_ap/matrix/$uuid
/sys/devices/vfio_ap/matrix/mdev_supported_types/vfio_ap-passthrough/devices/$uuid
/sys/bus/mdev/devices/$uuid
/sys/bus/mdev/drivers/vfio_mdev/$uuid
When the vfio-ap device is realized, it acquires and opens the
VFIO iommu group to which the mediated matrix device is
bound. This causes a VFIO group notification event to be
signaled. The vfio_ap device driver's group notification
handler will get called at which time the device driver
will configure the the AP devices to which the guest will
be granted access.

According to PCI specification, subsystem id and subsystem vendor id

but not in type 1 headers.
Thus we should make this data optional in struct PciDeviceId and skip

Commit 2aece63c8a "hostmem: detect host backend memory is being used
properly" fixed "ivshmem-plain" to reject memory backends that are
already in use, and to block their deletion while in use. Two bugs
escaped review:
* New ivshmem_plain_exit() fails to call ivshmem_exit(). This breaks
unplug. Reproducer: migration after unplug still fails with
"Migration is disabled when using feature 'peer mode' in device
'ivshmem'".
* It failed to update legacy "ivshmem". Harmless, because it creates
the memory backend itself, and nothing else should use it.
Fix by moving the two host_memory_backend_set_mapped() calls into
ivshmem_common_realize() and ivshmem_exit(), guarded by s->hostmem.

context that takes a 64-bit hwaddr. This can't actually ever
overflow the 32-bit result, because of the constraints placed on
the s->config values in bcm2835_fb_validate_config(). But we
can placate Coverity anyway, by explicitly casting one of the
inputs to a hwaddr, so the whole expression is calculated with

In commit c79c0a314c we enabled emulation of external aborts
when the guest attempts to access a physical address with no
mapped device. In commit 4672cbd7be we suppress this for
most legacy boards to prevent breakage of previously working
guests, but we didn't suppress it in the 'virt' board, with
the rationale "we know that guests won't try to prod devices
that we don't describe in the device tree or ACPI tables". This
is mostly true, but we've had a report of a Linux guest image
that this did break. The problem seems to be that the guest
is (incorrectly) configured with a DEBUG_UART_PHYS value that
tells it there is a uart at 0x10009000 (which is true for
vexpress but not for virt), so in early bootup the kernel
probes this bogus address.
This is a misconfigured guest, so we don't need to worry
about it too much, but we can arrange that guests that ran
on QEMU v2.10 (before c79c0a314c) will still run on
the "virt-2.10" board model, by suppressing external aborts
only for that version and earlier. This seems a reasonable
compromise: "virt-2.10" is supposed to behave the same way
that "virt" did in the 2.10 release, and making it do that
provides a usable workaround for guests with bugs like this.

If QEMU is compiled with clang-7 it results in the warning:
hw/display/qxl.c:1884:19: error: misaligned or large atomic operation
may incur significant performance penalty [-Werror,-Watomic-alignment]
old_pending = atomic_fetch_or(&d->ram->int_pending, le_events);
^
This is because the Spice headers forgot to define the QXLRam struct
with the '__aligned__(4)' attribute. clang 7 and newer will thus
warn that the access here to int_pending might not be 4-aligned
(because the QXLRam object d->ram points at might start at a
misaligned address). In fact we set up d->ram in init_qxl_ram() so
it always starts at a 4K boundary, so we know the atomic access here
is OK.
Newer Spice versions (with Spice commit
beda5ec7a6848be20c0cac2a9a8ef2a41e8069c1) will fix the bug;
for older Spice versions, work around it by telling the compiler
explicitly that the alignment is OK using __builtin_assume_aligned().

The IplParameterBlock and QemuIplParameters structures are declared with
QEMU_PACKED, so the compiler assumes that the structures do not need to
be aligned in memory. Since the are listed after a "bool" within the
S390IPLState, the IplParameterBlock and QemuIplParameters are also indeed
mis-aligned in memory. This causes problems on Sparc during migration, since
we use VMSTATE_UINT16 in vmstate_iplb to access the devno member for example,
and the corresponding migration functions (like qemu_get_be16s) then try to
access a 16-bit value from a misaligned memory address.
The easiest solution to fix this problem is to move the packed structures
to the beginning of the S390IPLState, right after the DeviceState of course
which has to stay first for QOM reasons. But since DeviceState is a non-packed
struct, we can be sure that it will be padded to the correct alignment at the
end. If not, the QEMU_BUILD_BUG_MSG in this patch will tell us.

This is mostly for readability of the code. Let's make it clear which
callers can create an implicit monitor when the chardev is muxed.
This will also enforce a safer behaviour, as we don't really support
creating monitor anywhere/anytime at the moment. Add an assert() to
make sure the programmer explicitely wanted that behaviour.
There are documented cases, such as: -serial/-parallel/-virtioconsole
and to less extent -debugcon.
Less obvious and questionable ones are -gdb, SLIRP -guestfwd and Xen
console. Add a FIXME note for those, but keep the support for now.
Other qemu_chr_new() callers either have a fixed parameter/filename
string or do not need it, such as -qtest:
* qtest.c: qtest_init()
Afaik, only used by tests/libqtest.c, without mux. I don't think we
support it outside of qemu testing: drop support for implicit mux
monitor (qemu_chr_new() call: no implicit mux now).
* hw/
All with literal @filename argument that doesn't enable mux monitor.
* tests/
All with @filename argument that doesn't enable mux monitor.
On a related note, the list of monitor creation places:
- the chardev creators listed above: all from command line (except
perhaps Xen console?)
- -gdb & hmp gdbserver will create a "GDB monitor command" chardev
that is wired to an HMP monitor.
- -mon command line option
From this short study, I would like to think that a monitor may only
be created in the main thread today, though I remain skeptical :)

becuase we don't emulate the VPD page for scsi-block. We could intercept
and inject the user specified value like for max xfer len, but it's
probably not helpful since the intent of 070f80095a was for random
entropy aspects, not for performance. If emulated rotation rate is
desired, scsi-hd is more suitable.

this patch is causing tracebacks in all Linux kernels running the PXA

As of commit 18e8cf159177100e ("serial: sh-sci: increase RX FIFO trigger
defaults for (H)SCIF") in Linux v4.11-rc1, the serial console on the
QEMU SH4 target is broken: it delays serial input until enough data has
been received.
Since aforementioned commit, the Linux SCIF driver programs the Receive
FIFO Data Count Trigger bits in the FIFO Control Register, to postpone
generating a receive interrupt until:
1. At least the receive trigger count of bytes of data are available
in the receive FIFO, OR
2. No further data has been received for at least 15 etu after the
last received data.
While QEMU implements the former, it does not implement the latter.
Hence the receive interrupt is not generated until the former condition
is met.
Fix this by adding basic timeout handling. As the QEMU SCIF emulation
ignores any serial speed programming, the timeout value used conforms to
a default speed of 9600 bps, which is fine for any interactive console.

Commit 2858ab09e6 changed
PS/2 keyboard/mouse buffers to the standard size. However, its state
may change when migrating from the old buffer size and therefore irq needs
updating. But this change made wrong, because it throws the whole queue
if there are too much data instead of cropping it.
That commit also updates irq (because the queue state may change).
But updating the irq may change the VM state (and determinism of
the execution). E.g., when replaying the execution, one may save
the VM state and the state of the interrupt controller will be updated
at the moment of saving, instead of using the recorded update events.
This patch makes the queue update deterministic: it removes the update_irq
call and crops the queue to prevent losing the characters and changing
the required irq status.

Both virtio-blk and virtio-scsi use virtio_queue_empty() as the
loop condition in VQ handlers (virtio_blk_handle_vq,
virtio_scsi_handle_cmd_vq). When a device is marked broken in
virtqueue_pop, for example if a vIOMMU address translation failed, we

USB frame rate is slightly lower than 1kHz: ie. ~950Hz.
Thus usb-audio device is not able to perform a simple audio playback
without underruns on audio backend.
eg. "-device pci-ohci,id=ohci -device usb-audio,bus=ohci.0" vs PulseAudio
backend. more than 50 underruns are observed per second.
Update ohci_sof_time computation, using QEMU_CLOCK_VIRTUAL in
ohci_usb_start(), and increment by usb_frame_time in ohci_sof()
makes USB frame rate close to 1kHz.
This way, no audio underrun are observed during audio playback.

Monochrome cursors are still used by Windows guests with the
QXL-WDDM-DOD driver. Such cursor types have one odd feature, inversion
of colors. GDK does not seem to support it, so implement an alternative
solution: fill the inverted pixels and add an outline to make the cursor
more visible. Tested with the text cursor in Notepad and Windows 10.
cursor_set_mono is also used by the vmware GPU, so add a special check
to avoid breaking its 32bpp format (tested with Kubuntu 14.04.4). I was
unable to find a guest which supports the 1bpp format with a vmware GPU.
The old implementation was buggy and removed in v2.10.0-108-g79c5a10cdd
("qxl: drop mono cursor support"), this version improves upon that by
adding bounds validation, clarifying the semantics of the two masks and
adds a workaround for inverted colors support.

When processing monitor config from guest store head0 width and height
for single-head configurations. Use these when creating the
DisplaySurface in the local renderer.
This fixes a rendering issue with wayland. Wayland rounds up the
framebuffer width and height to a multiple of 64, so with odd
resolutions (800x600 for example) the framebuffer is larger than the
actual screen. The monitor config has the actual screen size though.
This fixes guest display for anything using the local renderer
(non-spice UI, screendump monitor command).

EDID is a metadata format to describe monitors. On physical hardware
the monitor has an eeprom with that data block which can be read over
i2c bus.
On a linux system you can usually find the EDID data block in
/sys/class/drm/$card/$connector/edid. xorg ships a edid-decode utility
which you can use to turn the blob into readable form.
I think it would be a good idea to use EDID for virtual displays too.
Needs changes in both qemu and guest kms drivers. This patch is the
first step, it adds an generator for EDID blobs to qemu. Comes with a
qemu-edid test tool included.
With EDID we can pass more information to the guest. Names and serial
numbers, so the guests display configuration has no boring "Unknown
Monitor". List of video modes. Display resolution, pretty important
in case we want add HiDPI support some day.

The only difference between our implementation of the pcnet ioport
accessors and the mmio accessors is that the former check BCR_DWIO to
see what access widths are permitted for addresses in the aprom range
(0x0..0xf). In fact our failure to do this in the mmio accessors
is a bug (one which was fixed for the ioport accessors in
commit 7ba7974197 in 2011).
The data sheet for the Am79C970A does not describe the DWIO
bit as only applying for I/O space mapped I/O resources and
not memory mapped I/O resources, and our MMIO accessors already
honour DWIO for accesses in the 0x10..0x1f range (since the
pcnet_ioport_{read,write}{w,l} functions check it).
The data sheet for the later but compatible Am79C976 is clearer:
it states specifically "DWIO mode applies to both I/O- and
memory-mapped acceses." This seems to be reasonable evidence
in favour of interpretating the Am79C970A spec as being the same.
(NB: Linux's pcnet driver only supports I/O accesses, so the
MMIO access part of this device is probably untested anyway.)

Convert the pcnet-pci device away from using the old_mmio

This commit is a no-behaviour-change API conversion.
(Since PCNET_PNPMMIO_SIZE is 0x20, the old "addr & 0x10"
check and the new "addr < 0x10" check are exact opposites;
the new code is phrased to be parallel with the
pcnet_io_read/write functions.)
I have left a TODO comment marker because the similarity
between the MMIO and IO accessor behaviour is suspicious
and they could be combined, but this will be left to a

Whilst the PReP specification describes how all PCI IRQs are routed via IRQ
15 on the interrupt controller, the real 40p machine has a routing quirk in
that the LSI SCSI device is routed directly to IRQ 13.

qdev to the relevant interrupt controller gpio.

The new layout using static IRQ number does not leave much space to
the dynamic MSI range, only 0x100 IRQ numbers. Increase the total
number of IRQS for newer machines and introduce a legacy XICS backend
for pre-3.1 machines to maintain compatibility.
For the old backend, provide a 'nr_msis' value covering the full IRQ
number space as it does not use the bitmap allocator to allocate MSI
interrupt numbers.

The number of MSI interrupts a sPAPR machine can allocate is in direct
relation with the number of interrupts of the sPAPRIrq backend. Define
statically this value at the sPAPRIrq class level and use it for the
"ibm,pe-total-#msi" property of the sPAPR PHB.
According to the PAPR specs, "ibm,pe-total-#msi" defines the maximum
number of MSIs that are available to the PE. We choose to advertise
the maximum number of MSIs that are available to the machine for
simplicity of the model and to avoid segmenting the MSI interrupt pool
which can be easily shared. If the pool limit is reached, it can be
extended dynamically.
Finally, remove XICS_IRQS_SPAPR which is now unused.

According to the PReP specification section 6.1.6 "System Interrupt
Assignments", all PCI interrupts are routed via IRQ 15.
Instead of mapping each PCI IRQ separately, we introduce an OR gate within the
raven PCI host bridge and then wire the single output of the OR gate to the
interrupt controller.
Note that whilst the (now deprecated) PReP machine still exists we still need
to preserve the old IRQ routing. This is done by adding a new "is-legacy-prep"
property to the raven PCI host bridge which is set to true for the PReP
machine.

10efd7e108 "pc: acpi: fix memory hotplug regression by reducing stub SRAT entry size"
attemped to fix hotplug regression introduced by
848a1cc1e "hw/acpi-build: build SRAT memory affinity structures for DIMM devices"
fixed issue for Windows/3.0+ linux kernels, however it regressed 2.6 based
kernels (RHEL6) to the point where guest might crash at boot.
Reason is that 2.6 kernel discards SRAT table due too small last entry
which down the road leads to crashes. Hack I've tried in 10efd7e108 is also
not ACPI spec compliant according to which whole possible RAM should be
described in SRAT. Revert 10efd7e108 to fix regression for 2.6 based kernels.
With 10efd7e108 reverted, I've also tried splitting SRAT table statically
in different ways %/node and %/slot but Windows still fails to online
2nd pc-dimm hot-plugged into node 0 (as described in 10efd7e108) and
sometimes even coldplugged pc-dimms where affected with static SRAT
partitioning.
The only known so far way where Windows stays happy is when we have 1
SRAT entry in the last node covering all hotplug area.
Revert 848a1cc1e until we come up with a way to avoid regression
on Windows with hotplug area split in several entries.
Tested this with 2.6/3.0 based kernels (RHEL6/7) and WS20[08/12/12R2/16]).

We need to set cs->halted to 1 before calling ppc_set_compat. The reason
is that ppc_set_compat kicks up the new thread created to manage the
hotplugged KVM virtual CPU and the code drives directly to KVM_RUN
ioctl. When cs->halted is 1, the code:
int kvm_cpu_exec(CPUState *cpu)
...
if (kvm_arch_process_async_events(cpu)) {
atomic_set(&cpu->exit_request, 0);
return EXCP_HLT;
}
...
returns before it reaches KVM_RUN, giving time to the main thread to
finish its job. Otherwise we can fall in a deadlock because the KVM
thread will issue the KVM_RUN ioctl while the main thread is setting up
KVM registers. Depending on how these jobs are scheduled we'll end up
freezing QEMU.
The following output shows kvm_vcpu_ioctl sleeping because it cannot get
the mutex and never will.
PS: kvm_vcpu_ioctl was triggered kvm_set_one_reg - compat_pvr.

spapr_init_cpus() currently creates spapr-cpu-core objects via
object_new() and setting their realized property to true. This leaves
their reference count at two, because object_new() adds an initial
reference and the realization attaches them to a default parent object
which also increments the reference count.
This causes a problem if one of these cores is hot unplugged: no
delete event is generated for it because it's reference count doesn't
reach zero when it is detached from it's parent.
Correct this by adding a call to object_unref() in spapr_init_cpus().

The generated qapi_event_send_FOO() take an Error ** argument. They
can't actually fail, because all they do with the argument is passing it
to functions that can't fail: the QObject output visitor, and the
@qmp_emit callback, which is either monitor_qapi_event_queue() or
event_test_emit().
Drop the argument, and pass &error_abort to the QObject output visitor

Commit 2c88b098e7 added a call to SPAPR_MACHINE_GET_CLASS(spapr) in
spapr_phb_realize() before we check spapr isn't NULL. This causes QEMU
to crash when starting a non-pseries machine with a sPAPR PHB.
This could be fixed by setting the smc variable after the null check,
but it seems more explicit to use a ternary operator to skip the call
to SPAPR_MACHINE_GET_CLASS() if spapr is NULL, since spapr_phb_realize()
will return immediately in this case.

Fix MPS2 SCC config register values for the mps2-an511
and mps2-an385 boards:
* the SCC_AID bits [23:20] specify the FPGA build target board revision,
and the SCC_CFG4 register specifies the actual board revision, so
these should have matching values. Claim to be board revision C,
consistently -- we had the revision in the wrong part of SCC_AID.

Validate the config settings that the guest tries to set.
The wiki page documentation is not really accurate here:
generally rather than failing requests to set bad parameters,
the hardware will just clip them to something sensible.
Validate the most important parameters: sizes and
the viewport offsets. This prevents the framebuffer
code from trying to read out-of-range memory.
In the property handling code, we validate the new parameters every
time we encounter a tag that sets them. This means we validate the
config multiple times if the request includes multiple config-setting
tags, but the code would require significant restructuring to do a
validation only once but still return the clipped settings for
get-parameter tags and the buffer allocation tag.
Validation of settings made via the older bcm2835_fb_mbox_push()
function will be done in the next commit.

The raspi framebuffir in bcm2835_fb supports the definition
of a virtual "viewport", which is smaller than the full
physical framebuffer size and at an adjustable offset within
it. Only the viewport area is sent to the screen. This allows
the guest to do things like double buffering, or scrolling
by adjusting the viewport origin. Currently QEMU doesn't
implement this at all.
Add support for this feature:
* the property mailbox code needs to distinguish the
virtual width/height from the physical width/height
* the framebuffer code needs to do something with the
virtual width/height/origin information
Note that the wiki documentation on the semantics of the
virtual and physical height and width has it the wrong way
around -- the virtual size is the size of the allocated
buffer, and the physical size is the size of the display,
so the virtual size is always the same as or larger than
the physical.
If the viewport size is set smaller than the physical
screen size, we ignore the viewport settings completely
and just display the physical screen area.

The handling of framebuffer properties in the bcm2835_property code
is a bit clumsy, because for each of the many fb related properties
we try to track the value we're about to set and whether we're going
to be setting a value, and then we hand all the new values off
to the framebuffer via a function which takes them all as separate
arguments. It would be simpler if the property code could easily
copy all the framebuffer's current settings, update them with
the new specified values and then ask the framebuffer to switch
to the new set.
As the first part of this refactoring, pull all the fb config
settings fields in BCM2835FBState out into their own struct.

The PIIX4 hardware has block transfer buffer always enabled in
the hardware, but the i801 does not. Add a parameter to pm_smbus_init
to force on the block transfer so the PIIX4 handler can enable this

Change 880b1ffe6e "smbus: do not immediately complete commands"
changed pm_smbus to delay setting the host busy bit until the status
register was read, to work around a bug in AMIBIOS. Unfortunately,
when interrupts are enabled, the status register will never get read
and the processing will never happen.
Modify the code to only delay setting the host busy bit if interrupts
are not enabled.

The I2C block transfer commands was not implemented correctly, it
read a length byte and such like it was an smbus transfer.
So fix the smbus_read_block() and smbus_write_block() functions
so they can properly handle I2C transfers, and normal SMBus
transfers (for upcoming changes). Pass in a transfer size and
a bool to know whether to use the size byte (like SMBus) or use
the length given (like I2C).

We can assign and verify the address before realizing and trying to plug.
reading/writing the address property should never fail for DIMMs, so let's
reduce error handling a bit by using &error_abort. Getting access to the
memory region now might however fail. So forward errors from
get_memory_region() properly.
As all memory devices should use the alignment of the underlying memory
region for guest physical address asignment, do detection of the
alignment in pc_dimm_pre_plug(), but allow pc.c to overwrite the
alignment for compatibility handling.

All applicable memory regions always have an alignment > 0. All memory
backends result in file_ram_alloc() or qemu_anon_ram_alloc() getting
called, setting the alignment to > 0.
So a PCDIMM memory region always has an alignment > 0. NVDIMM copy the
alignment of the original memory memory region into the handcrafted memory
region that will be used at this place.
So the check for 0 can be dropped and we can reduce the special
handling.
Dropping this check makes factoring out of alignment handling easier as
compat handling only has to look at pcmc->enforce_aligned_dimm and not
care about the alignment of the memory region.

The vmstate for isa_ipmi_bt was referencing into the bt structure,
instead create a bt structure separate and use that.
The version 1 of the BT transfer was fairly broken, if a migration
occured during an IPMI operation, it is likely the migration would
be corrupted because I misunderstood the VMSTATE_VBUFFER_UINT32()
handling, I thought it handled transferring the length field,
too. So I just remove support for that. I doubt anyone is using
it at this point.
This also removes the transfer of use_irq, since that should come

There is currently a funny problem with the "mc146818rtc" device:
1) Start QEMU like this:
qemu-system-ppc64 -M pseries -S
2) At the HMP monitor, enter "info qom-tree". Note that there is an
entry for "/rtc (spapr-rtc)".
3) Introspect the mc146818rtc device like this:
device_add mc146818rtc,help
4) Run "info qom-tree" again. The "/rtc" entry is gone now!
The rtc_finalize() function of the mc146818rtc device has two bugs: First,
it tries to remove a "rtc" property, while the rtc_realizefn() added a
"rtc-time" property instead. And second, it should have been done in an
unrealize function, not in a finalize function, to avoid that this causes
problems during introspection.
But since adding aliases to the global machine state should not be done
from a device's realize function anyway, let's rather fix this issue
by moving the creation of the alias to the code that creates the device
(and thus is run from the machine init functions instead), i.e. the
mc146818_rtc_init() function for most machines. The prep machines are
special, since the mc146818rtc device is created here in the realize
function of the i82378 device. Since we certainly don't want to add the
alias there, we add it to some code that is called from the ibm_40p_init()
machine init function instead.
Since the alias is now only created during the machine init, we can remove
the object_property_del() completely.

This is mandated by the ohci specification. It tells at 6.4.4 on page 104
that for transfer descriptors that are retired with an error the done
queue interrupt counter is cleared as if the interrupt delay field of the
descriptions were zero.
Before this change, error conditions were handled similarly to the
successful condition which is especially troublesome for control transfers.
Some drivers (e.g., the AmigaOS-one) as well as the example code in the
spec, set the setup stage with an interrupt delay of seven (which means no
interrupt). This is fine under normal conditions, because one usually
doesn't want to be notified about the completion of this stage. However, if
an error occurs in this stage, these drivers will not get notified with the
current implementation. The fix addresses this by following the spec more
closely. Also, otherwise, the ability to set interrupt delay to seven would
be useless.
Note that Linux drivers that I looked at don't seem to be affected as they
set six as the interrupt delay presumably for the reason that they won't
get notified otherwise.

- prep machine is a fictional machine, so has no specifications. Which
devices can be changed/added/removed without impact? Are interrupts
correctly mapped?
- prep firmware (OHW) has support only for IDE drives (no SCSI).
Booting from IDE has been broken approximatively 3 years ago, and nobody complained.
- OHW is limited on IDE boot to a specific set of OS loaders.
These operating systems are of the 2004 time frame.
- OHW can use -kernel. Linux kernel freezes a long time after PS/2 mouse
detection, and then screen becomes garbage. This was already broken in
QEMU v2.7, 2 years ago, and nobody complained.
On the other side:
- 40p is a real machine, so emulation can be checked against
hardware specifications
- OpenBIOS has support for SCSI block devices, including 40p LSI adapter
- OpenBIOS can start mostly all Linux kernels (including recent ones)
and recent operating system (like NetBSD 7.1.2)

This proposal moves all the related IRQ routines of the sPAPR machine
behind a sPAPR IRQ backend interface 'spapr_irq' to prepare for future
changes. First of which will be to increase the size of the IRQ number
space, then, will follow a new backend for the POWER9 XIVE IRQ controller.

* opba's 32-bit and 16-bit accessors were just calling the
8-bit accessors and assembling a big-endian order number,
which we can do by setting the .impl.max_access_size to 1
and the endianness to DEVICE_BIG_ENDIAN, and letting the
core memory code do the assembly
* ppc405_gpio's accessors were all just stubs
* ppc4xx_gpt's 8-bit and 16-bit accessors were treating the

.valid.min_access_size and .valid.max_access_size fields

This proposal introduces a new IRQ number space layout using static
numbers for all devices, depending on a device index, and a bitmap
allocator for the MSI IRQ numbers which are negotiated by the guest at
runtime.
As the VIO device model does not have a device index but a "reg"
property, we introduce a formula to compute an IRQ number from a "reg"
value. It should minimize most of the collisions.
The previous layout is kept in pre-3.1 machines raising the
'legacy_irq_allocation' machine class flag.

At the moment the PPC64/pseries guest only supports 4K/64K/16M IOMMU
pages and POWER8 CPU supports the exact same set of page size so
so far things worked fine.
However POWER9 supports different set of sizes - 4K/64K/2M/1G and
the last two - 2M and 1G - are not even allowed in the paravirt interface
(RTAS DDW) so we always end up using 64K IOMMU pages, although we could
back guest's 16MB IOMMU pages with 2MB pages on the host.
This stores the supported host IOMMU page sizes in VFIOContainer and uses
this later when creating a new DMA window. This uses the system page size
(64k normally, 2M/16M/1G if hugepages used) as the upper limit of
the IOMMU pagesize.
This changes the type of @pagesize to uint64_t as this is what
memory_region_iommu_get_min_page_size() returns and clz64() takes.
There should be no behavioral changes on platforms other than pseries.
The guest will keep using the IOMMU page size selected by the PHB pagesize
property as this only changes the underlying hardware TCE table
granularity.

VMStateDescription vmstate_spapr_cpu_state was added by commit
b94020268e (spapr_cpu_core: migrate per-CPU data) to migrate per-CPU
data with the required vmstate registration and unregistration calls.
However the unregistration is being done only from vcpu creation error path
and not from CPU delete path.
This causes migration to fail with the following error if migration is
attempted after a CPU unplug like this:
Unknown savevm section or instance 'spapr_cpu' 16
Additionally this leaves the source VM unresponsive after migration failure.
Fix this by ensuring the vmstate_unregister happens during CPU removal.
Fixing this becomes easier when vmstate (un)registration calls are moved to
vcpu (un)realize functions which is what this patch does.

Valgrind reports that when loading a non-ELF kernel, kernel_top may be used
uninitialised when checking for an initrd.
Since there are no known non-ELF kernels for SPARC64 then we can simply
initialise kernel_top to 0 and then skip the initrd load process if it hasn't
been set by load_elf().

The PL08x model currently will unconditionally call hw_error()
if the DMA engine is enabled by the guest. This has been
present since the PL080 model was edded in 2006, and is
presumably either unintentional debug code left enabled,
or a guard against untested DMA engine code being used.
Remove the hw_error(), since we now have a guest which
will actually try to use the DMA engine (the self-test

Currently our PL080/PL081 model uses a combination of the CPU's
address space (via cpu_physical_memory_{read,write}()) and the
system address space for performing DMA accesses.
For the PL081s in the MPS FPGA images, their DMA accesses
must go via Master Security Controllers. Switch the
PL080/PL081 model to take a MemoryRegion property which
defines its downstream for making DMA accesses.
Since the PL08x are only used in two board models, we
make provision of the 'downstream' link mandatory and convert
both users at once, rather than having it be optional with
a default to the system address space.

The PL080 and PL081 have three outgoing interrupt lines:
* DMACINTERR signals DMA errors
* DMACINTTC is the DMA count interrupt
* DMACINTR is a combined interrupt, the logical OR of the other two
We currently only implement DMACINTR, because that's all the
realview and versatile boards needed, but the instances of the
PL081 in the MPS2 firmware images use all three interrupt lines.
Implement the missing DMACINTERR and DMACINTTC.
