The previous commit improved compile time by including less of the
generated QAPI headers. This is impossible for stuff defined directly
in qapi-schema.json, because that ends up in headers that that pull in
everything.
Move everything but include directives from qapi-schema.json to new
sub-module qapi/misc.json, then include just the "misc" shard where
possible.
It's possible everywhere, except:
* monitor.c needs qmp-command.h to get qmp_init_marshal()
* monitor.c, ui/vnc.c and the generated qapi-event-FOO.c need
qapi-event.h to get enum QAPIEvent
Perhaps we'll get rid of those some other day.
Adding a type to qapi/migration.json now recompiles some 120 instead
of 2300 out of 5100 objects.

From an architecture point of view, nothing can be mapped into the address
space on s390x. All there is is memory. Therefore there is also not really
an interface to communicate such information to the guest. All we can do is
specify the maximum ram address and guests can probe in that range if
memory is available and usable (TPROT).
Also memory hotplug is strange. The guest can decide at some point in
time to add / remove memory in some range. While the hypervisor can deny
to online an increment, all increments have to be predefined and there is
no way of telling the guest about a newly "hotplugged" increment. So if we
specify right now e.g.
-m 2G,slots=2,maxmem=20G
An ordinary fedora guest will happily online (hotplug) all memory,
resulting in a guest consuming 20G. So it really behaves rather like
-m 22G
There is no way to hotplug memory from the outside like on other
architectures. This is of course bad for upper management layers.
As the guest can create/delete memory regions while it is running, of
course migration support is not available and tricky to implement.
With virtualization, it is different. We might want to map something
into guest address space (e.g. fake DAX devices) and not detect it
automatically as memory. So we really want to use the maxmem and slots
parameter just like on all other architectures. Such devices will have
to expose the applicable memory range themselves. To finally be able to
provide memory hotplug to guests, we will need a new paravirtualized
interface to do that (e.g. something into the direction of virtio-mem).
This implies, that maxmem cannot be used for s390x memory hotplug
anymore and has to go. This simplifies the code quite a bit.
As migration support is not working, this change cannot really break
migration as guests without slots and maxmem don't see the SCLP
features. Also, the ram size calculation does not change.

Presently s390x is the only architecture not exposing specific
CPU information via QMP query-cpus. Upstream discussion has shown
that it could make sense to report the architecture specific CPU
state, e.g. to detect that a CPU has been stopped.
With this change the output of query-cpus will look like this on
s390:
[
{"arch": "s390", "current": true,
"props": {"core-id": 0}, "cpu-state": "operating", "CPU": 0,
"qom_path": "/machine/unattached/device[0]",
"halted": false, "thread_id": 63115},
{"arch": "s390", "current": false,
"props": {"core-id": 1}, "cpu-state": "stopped", "CPU": 1,
"qom_path": "/machine/unattached/device[1]",
"halted": true, "thread_id": 63116}
]
This change doesn't add the s390-specific data to HMP 'info cpus'.
A follow-on patch will remove all architecture specific information
from there.

If no boot menu options are present, then flag the boot menu to
use the zipl options that were set in the zipl configuration file

offset prior to the start of the zipl boot menu banner. The zipl
timeout value is limited to a 16-bit unsigned integer and stored
as seconds, so we take care to convert it to milliseconds in order
to conform to the rest of the boot menu functionality. This is
limited to CCW devices.
For reference, the zipl configuration file uses the following
fields in the menu section:
prompt=1 enable the boot menu
timeout=X set the timeout to X seconds

The s390-ccw firmware needs some information in support of the
boot process which is not available on the native machine.
Examples are the netboot firmware load address and now the
boot menu parameters.
While storing that data in unused fields of the IPL parameter block
works, that approach could create problems if the parameter block
definition should change in the future. Because then a guest could
overwrite these fields using the set IPLB diagnose.
In fact the data in question is of more global nature and not really
tied to an IPL device, so separating it is rather logical.
This commit introduces a new structure to hold firmware relevant
IPL parameters set by QEMU. The data is stored at location 204 (dec)
and can contain up to 7 32-bit words. This area is available to
programming in the z/Architecture Principles of Operation and
can thus safely be used by the firmware until the IPL has completed.

Fix storage attribute migration so that it does not fail for guests
with more than a few GB of RAM.
With such guests, the index in the buffer would go out of bounds,
usually by large amounts, thus receiving -EFAULT from the kernel.
Migration itself would be successful, but storage attributes would then
not be migrated completely.
This patch fixes the out of bounds access, and thus migration of all

The default css 0xfe is currently restricted to virtual subchannel
devices. The hope when the decision was made was, that non-virtual
subchannel devices will come around when guest can exploit multiple
channel subsystems. Since the guests generally don't do, the pain
of the partitioned (cssid) namespace outweighs the gain.
Let us remove the corresponding restrictions (virtual devices
can be put only in 0xfe and non-virtual devices in any css except
the 0xfe -- while s390-squash-mcss then remaps everything to cssid 0).
At the same time, change our schema for generating css bus ids to put
both virtual and non-virtual devices into the default css (spilling over
into other css images, if needed). The intention is to deprecate
s390-squash-mcss. With this change devices without a specified devno
won't end up hidden to guests not supporting multiple channel subsystems,
unless this can not be avoided (default css full).
Let us also advertise the changes to the management software (so it can
tell are cssids unrestricted or restricted).
The adverse effect of getting rid of the restriction on migration should
not be too severe. Vfio-ccw devices are not live-migratable yet, and for
virtual devices using the extra freedom would only make sense with the
aforementioned guest support in place.
The auto-generated bus ids are affected by both changes. We hope to not
encounter any auto-generated bus ids in production as Libvirt is always
explicit about the bus id. Since 8ed179c937 ("s390x/css: catch section
mismatch on load", 2017-05-18) the worst that can happen because the same
device ended up having a different bus id is a cleanly failed migration.
I find it hard to reason about the impact of changed auto-generated bus
ids on migration for command line users as I don't know which rules is
such an user supposed to follow.
Another pain-point is down- or upgrade of QEMU for command line users.
The old way and the new way of doing vfio-ccw are mutually incompatible.
Libvirt is only going to support the new way, so for libvirt users, the
possible problems at QEMU downgrade are the following. If a domain
contains virtual devices placed into a css different than 0xfe the domain
will refuse to start with a QEMU not having this patch. Putting devices
into a css different that 0xfe however won't make much sense in the near
future (guest support). Libvirt will refuse to do vfio-ccw with a QEMU
not having this patch. This is business as usual.

When dispatching memory access to PCI BAR region, we must
look for possible subregions, used by the PCI device to map
different memory areas inside the same PCI BAR.
Since the data offset we received is calculated starting at the
region start address we need to adjust the offset for the subregion.
The data offset inside the subregion is calculated by substracting
the subregion's starting address from the data offset in the region.
The access to the MSIX region is now handled in a generic way,

There are two places where the same endianness conversion
is done.
Let's factor this out into a static function.
Note that the conversion must always be done for data in a register:
The S390 BE guest converted date to le before issuing the instruction.
After interception in a BE host:
ZPCI VFIO using pwrite must make the conversion back for the BE kernel.
Kernel will do BE to le translation when loading the register for the
real instruction.
After interception in a le host:
TCG stores a BE register in le, swapping bytes.
But since the data in the register was already le it is now BE
ZPCI VFIO must convert it to le before writing to the PCI memory.
In both cases ZPCI VFIO must swap the bytes from the register.

s390_cpu_virt_mem_rw() must always return, so callers can react on
an exception (e.g. see ioinst_handle_stcrw()).
However, for TCG we always have to exit the cpu loop (and restore the
cpu state before that) if we injected a program interrupt. So let's
introduce and use s390_cpu_virt_mem_handle_exc() in code that is not
purely KVM.

<cpu mode='host-model'/>
on an IBM z14 results in
"qemu-system-s390x: Some features requested in the CPU model are not
available in the configuration: gs"
This is because guarded storage is fenced for compat machines that did
not have guarded storage support. While this prevents future migration
abort (by not starting the guest at all), not being able to start a
"host-model" guest is very much unexpected. As it turns out, even if we
would modify libvirt to not expand the cpu model to contain "gs" for
compat machines, it cannot guarantee that a migration will succeed. For
example if the kernel changes its features (or the user has nested=1 on
one host but not on the other) the migration will fail nevertheless. So
instead of fencing "gs" for machines <= 2.9 lets allow it for all
machine types that support the CPU model. This will make "host-model"
runnable all the time, while relying on the CPU model to reject invalid
migration attempts. We also need to change the migration for guarded
storage.
Additional discussions about host-model are still pending but are out
of scope of this patch.

Some time ago we discussed that using "id" as property name is not the
right thing to do, as it is a reserved property for other devices and
will not work with device_add.
Switch to the term "core-id" instead, and use it as an equivalent to
"CPU address" mentioned in the PoP. There is no such thing as cpu number,
so rename env.cpu_num to env.core_id. We use "core-id" as this is the
common term to use for device_add later on (x86 and ppc).
We can get rid of cpu->id now. Keep cpu_index and env->core_id in sync.
cpu_index was already implicitly used by e.g. cpu_exists(), so keeping
both in sync seems to be the right thing to do.
cpu_index will now no longer automatically get set via
cpu_exec_realizefn(). For now, we were lucky that both implicitly stayed
in sync.
Our new cpu property "core-id" can be a static property. Range checks can
be avoided by using the correct type and the "setting after realized"
check is done implicitly.
device_add will later need the reserved "id" property. Hotplugging a CPU
on s390x will then be: "device_add host-s390-cpu,id=cpu2,core-id=2".

The architecture says that channel-data check is indicating that
an uncorrected storage (memory) error has been detected in regard
to the data residing in main storage (memory) that is currently
used for an I/O operation. The described detection is done using
the CBC technology.
The ccw interpretation code is however generating a channel-data check
effectively when the (device specific) ccw_cb returns -EFAULT. In case
of virtio-ccw devices this happens when mapping memory fails, or when a
NULL pointer is encountered. So this behavior is not architecture
conform.
Furthermore the best fit for these situations (null pointer, mapping a
piece of guest memory fails) from architectural perspective the condition
described as the channel subsystem refers to a location that is not
available, which when encountered shall result in a channel-program
check.
To fix this, all we have to do is to get rid of the switch case matching
-EFAULT: the default is generating a channel-program check.

If we do not provide zpci, pci reconfiguration via sclp is not available

Rename the values that refer to I/O adapter configuration (instead of only
pci) to make things clearer.
Move length checking of the sccb for I/O adapter configuration into the
common sclp code (out of the pci code). This also fixes an issue that
the pci code would refer to a field in the sccb before checking whether
it was actually long enough.
Check for the adapter type in the sccb and return unrecognized adapter

According to the PoP channel command words (CCW) must be doubleword
aligned and 31 bit addressable for format 1 and 24 bit addressable for
format 0 CCWs.
If the channel subsystem encounters a ccw address which does not satisfy
this alignment requirement a program-check condition is recognised.
The situation with 31 bit addressable is a bit more complicated: both the
ORB and a format 1 CCW TIC hold the address of (the rest of) the channel
program, that is the address of the next CCW in a word, and the PoP
mandates that bit 0 of that word shall be zero -- or a program-check
condition is to be recognized -- and does not belong to the field holding
the ccw address.
Since in code the corresponding fields span across the whole word (unlike
in PoP where these are defined as 31 bit wide) we can check this by
applying a mask. The 24 addressable case isn't affecting TIC because the
address is composed of a halfword and a byte portion (no additional zero
bit requirements) and just slightly complicates the ORB case where also
bits 1-7 need to be zero.
The same requirements (especially n-bit addressability) apply to the
ccw addresses generated while chaining.
Let's make our CSS implementation follow the AR more closely.

On NetBSD, where tolower() and toupper() are implemented using an
array lookup, the compiler warns if you pass a plain 'char'
to these functions:
gdbstub.c:914:13: warning: array subscript has type 'char'
This reflects the fact that toupper() and tolower() give
undefined behaviour if they are passed a value that isn't
a valid 'unsigned char' or EOF.
We have qemu_tolower() and qemu_toupper() to avoid this problem;
use them.
(The use in scsi-generic.c does not trigger the warning because
it passes a uint8_t; we switch it anyway, for consistency.)

Currently the migration of the channel subsystem (css) is only partial
and is done by the virtio ccw proxies -- the only migratable css devices
existing at the moment.
With the current work on emulated and passthrough devices we need to
decouple the migration of the channel subsystem state from virtio ccw,

breaks the migration compatibility.
So let us introduce a switch at the machine class, and put it in 'off'

This patch is based on a similar patch from Stefan Hajnoczi -
commit c324fd0a39 ("virtio-pci: use ioeventfd even when KVM is disabled")
Do not check kvm_eventfds_enabled() when KVM is disabled since it
always returns 0. Since commit 8c56c1a592
("memory: emulate ioeventfd") it has been possible to use ioeventfds in
qtest or TCG mode.
This patch makes -device virtio-scsi-ccw,iothread=iothread0 work even
when KVM is disabled.
Currently we don't have an equivalent to "memory: emulate ioeventfd"
for ccw yet, but that this doesn't hurt and qemu-iotests 068 can pass with
skipping iothread arguments.
I have tested that virtio-scsi-ccw works under tcg both with and without
iothread.

Commit bab482d740 ("s390x/css: ccw translation infrastructure")
introduced instruction interception handler for different types of
subchannels. For emulated 3270 devices, we should assign the virtual
subchannel handler to them during device realization process, or 3270
will not work.

Let's vmstatify virtio_ccw_save_config and virtio_ccw_load_config for
flexibility (extending using subsections) and for fun.
To achieve this we need to hack the config_vector, which is VirtIODevice
(that is common virtio) state, in the middle of the VirtioCcwDevice state
representation. This is somewhat ugly, but we have no choice because the
stream format needs to be preserved.
Almost no changes in behavior. Exception is everything that comes with
vmstate like extra bookkeeping about what's in the stream, and maybe some
extra checks and better error reporting.

Prior to the virtio-ccw-2.7 machine (and commit 2a79eb1a), our virtio
devices residing under the virtual-css bus do not have qdev_path based
migration stream identifiers (because their qdev_path is NULL). The ids
are instead generated when the device is registered as a composition of
the so called idstr, which takes the vmsd name as its value, and an
instance_id, which is which is calculated as a maximal instance_id
registered with the same idstr plus one, or zero (if none was registered
previously).
That means, under certain circumstances, one device might try, and even
succeed, to load the state of a different device. This can lead to
trouble.
Let us fail the migration if the above problem is detected during load.
How to reproduce the problem:
1) start qemu-system-s390x making sure you have the following devices
defined on your command line:
-device virtio-rng-ccw,id=rng1,devno=fe.0.0001
-device virtio-rng-ccw,id=rng2,devno=fe.0.0002
2) detach the devices and reattach in reverse order using the monitor:
(qemu) device_del rng1
(qemu) device_del rng2
(qemu) device_add virtio-rng-ccw,id=rng2,devno=fe.0.0002
(qemu) device_add virtio-rng-ccw,id=rng1,devno=fe.0.0001
3) save the state of the vm into a temporary file and quit QEMU:
(qemu) migrate "exec:gzip -c > /tmp/tmp_vmstate.gz"
(qemu) q
4) use your command line from step 1 with
-incoming "exec:gzip -c -d /tmp/tmp_vmstate.gz"
appended to reproduce the problem (while trying to to load the saved vm)

This patch converts the old "is_write" bool into IOMMUAccessFlags. The
difference is that "is_write" can only express either read/write, but
sometimes what we really want is "none" here (neither read nor write).
Replay is an good example - during replay, we should not check any RW
permission bits since thats not an actual IO at all.

It would have been less churn to keep the common case with no
arguments as meaning guest-triggered, and only modified the
host-triggered code paths, via a wrapper function, but then we'd
still have to audit that I didn't miss any host-triggered spots;
changing the signature forces us to double-check that I correctly
categorized all callers.
Since command line options can change whether a guest reset request
causes an actual reset vs. a shutdown, it's easy to also add the

cannot_instantiate_with_device_add_yet was introduced by commit
efec3dd631 to replace no_user. It was
supposed to be a temporary measure.
When it was introduced, we had 54
cannot_instantiate_with_device_add_yet=true lines in the code.
Today (3 years later) this number has not shrunk: we now have
57 cannot_instantiate_with_device_add_yet=true lines. I think it
is safe to say it is not a temporary measure, and we won't see
the flag go away soon.
Instead of a long field name that misleads people to believe it
is temporary, replace it a shorter and less misleading field:
user_creatable.

The I/O adapters should exist as soon as the bus/infrastructure
exists, and not only when the guest is actually trying to do something
with them. While the lazy allocation was not wrong, allocating at init
time is cleaner, both for the architecture and the code. Let's adjust
this by having each device type (currently for PCI and virtio-ccw)
register the adapters for each ISC (as now we don't know which ISC the

Expose the busids of the virtual I/O subchannel and the virtual CCW
device to ease debugging. This is needed because:
1. subchannel id are assigned dynamically, and cannot be set from
outside.
2. device busid could possibly be auto generated.
An example of using HMP to retrieve the property values of a
virtio-balloon-ccw device looks like:
[root@localhost ~]# lscss -d 0.0.0004
Device Subchan. DevType CU Type Use PIM PAM POM CHPIDs
----------------------------------------------------------------------
0.0.0004 0.0.0003 0000/00 3832/05 yes 80 80 ff 00000000 00000000

... ...
dev: virtio-balloon-ccw, id "balloon0"
devno = "<unset>"
ioeventfd = true
max_revision = 2 (0x2)
dev_id = "fe.0.0004"
subch_id = "fe.0.0003"
... ...
After migration, if we have the same device that shows up on a
different subchannel, we must re-fill the subch_id of the ccw
device with the new schid, or the subch_id will have an old wrong
schid value. So this also re-fills the subch_id after migration.

The subchannel is a means to access a device. While the device number is
assigned by the administrator, the subchannel number is assigned by
the channel subsystem in an ascending order on cold and hot plug.
When doing unplug and replug operations, the same device may end up on
a different subchannel; for example
- We start with a device fe.1.2222, which ends up at subchannel
fe.1.0000.
- Now we detach the device, attach a device fe.1.3333 (which would get
the now-free subchannel fe.1.0000), re-attach fe.1.2222 (which ends
up at subchannel fe.1.0001) and detach fe.1.3333.
- We now have the same device (fe.1.2222) available to the guest; it
just shows up on a different subchannel.
In such a case, the subchannel numbers are different from what a
QEMU would create during cold plug when parsing the command line.
As this would cause a guest visible change on migration, we do restore
the source system's value of the subchannel number on load.
So we are now fine from the guest perspective. From the host
perspective this will cause an inconsistent state in our internal data
structures, though.
For example, the subchannel 0 might not be at array position 0. This will
lead to problems when we continue doing hot (un/re) plug operations.
Let's fix this by cleaning up our internal data structures.

Currently, devices are plugged before features are negotiated.
If the backend doesn't support VIRTIO_F_VERSION_1, the transport
needs to rewind some settings.
This is the case for CCW, for which a post_plugged callback had
been introduced, where max_rev field is just updated if
VIRTIO_F_VERSION_1 is not supported by the backend.
For PCI, implementing post_plugged would be much more
complicated, so it needs to know whether the backend supports
VIRTIO_F_VERSION_1 at plug time.
Currently, nothing is done for PCI. Modern capabilities get
exposed to the guest even if VIRTIO_F_VERSION_1 is not supported
by the backend, which confuses the guest.
This patch replaces existing post_plugged solution with an
approach that fits with both transports.
Features negotiation is performed before ->device_plugged() call.
A pre_plugged callback is introduced so that the transports can
set their supported features.

driver so that virtio-vsock can hook into the AF_VSOCK address family.
The QEMU vhost-vsock device handles configuration and live migration
while the rx/tx happens in the vhost_vsock.ko Linux kernel driver.
The vsock device must be given a CID (host-wide unique address):
# qemu -device vhost-vsock-pci,id=vhost-vsock-pci0,guest-cid=3 ...

"qemu" is used as default when running under TCG. "host" is used
as default when running under KVM. "host" cannot be used without KVM.
"host" is not migration-safe. They both inherit from the base s390x CPU,
which is turned into an abstract class.
This patch also changes CPU creation to take care of the passed CPU string
and reuses common code parse_features() function for that purpose. Unknown

This was noticed when adding two scsi_hd controllers: The SCSIBus

We simply use the device's bus id, as this is unique and we won't

To support definitions of s390 pci attributes in Qemu cmdline, we have
to make current S390PCIBusDevice struct inherit DeviceState and add
three properties for it. Currently we only support definitions of uid
and fid.
'uid' is optionally defined by users, identifies a zpci device and
must be defined with a 16-bit and non-zero unique value.
'fid' ranges from 0x0 to 0xFFFFFFFF. For fid property, we introduce a
new PropertyInfo by the name of s390_pci_fid_propinfo with our special
setter and getter. As 'fid' is optional, introduce 'fid_defined' to
track whether the user specified a fid.
'target' field is to direct qemu to find the corresponding generic PCI
device. It is equal to the 'id' value of one of generic pci devices.
If the user doesn't specify 'id' parameter for a generic pci device,
its 'id' value will be generated automatically and use this value as
'target' to create an associated zpci device.
If the user did not specify 'uid' or 'fid', values are generated
automatically. 'target' is required.
In addition, if a pci device has no associated zpci device, the code
will generate a zpci device automatically for it.

Currently each zpci device holds its own DMA address space and memory
region. At the same time, all instances of zpci device are stored in
S390pciState. So duirng the initialization of S390pciState, all zpci
devices are created and then all DMA address spaces are created. Thus,
when initializing pci devices, their corresponding DMA address spaces
could be found.
But zpci qdev will be introduced later. Zpci device may be initialized
and plugged afterwards generic pci device. So we should initialize all
DMA address spaces and memory regions before initializing zpci devices.
We introduce a new struct named S390PCIIOMMU. And a new field of
S390pciState, which is an array to store all instances of S390PCIIOMMU,
is added so that qemu pci code could find the corresponding DMA

To make the virtual css bus and bridge useful for non-virtio devices,
this introduces a common unplug function pointer "unplug" to call

This unplug pointer is a member of CCWDeviceClass, which is introduced

The sclp scp read info call fills in a buffer with information about the
system. With more than 248 CPUs we overflow the 4k buffer of the SCCB,
leading to random data corruption. Basically ALL guest operating systems
call scp read info, so let's limit the machines to 248 CPUs to make it
obvious that >=249 does not work.
As KVM also limits itself to 248 and TCG on s390 does not support
SMP, this should cause no regression for any user as no VMs with more
than 248 VCPUs were ever possible.

Let's introduce a CssDevId to handle device ids of the xx.x.xxxx
type used for channel devices. This has some benefits:
- We can use them in virtio-ccw and split the validity checks for
a channel device id in general from the constraint checking
within the virtio-ccw scope.
- We can reuse the device id type for future non-virtio channel
devices.
While we're at it, improve the validity checks and disallow e.g.
trailing characters.

According to the Principles of Operation (more precisely the subsection
'Channel-Report Word'), a subchannel put into the installed parameters
initialized state is in the same state as after an I/O system reset (just
parameters possibly changed). This implies that any I/O interrupts for that
subchannel are no longer pending (as I/O system resets clear I/O
interrupts). Therefore, we need an interface to clear pending I/O
interrupts. Make css_generate_sch_crws clear the pending IO interrupts for

Commit 57cb38b included qapi/error.h into qemu/osdep.h to get the
Error typedef. Since then, we've moved to include qemu/osdep.h
everywhere. Its file comment explains: "To avoid getting into
possible circular include dependencies, this file should not include
any other QEMU headers, with the exceptions of config-host.h,
compiler.h, os-posix.h and os-win32.h, all of which are doing a
similar job to this file and are under similar constraints."
qapi/error.h doesn't do a similar job, and it doesn't adhere to
similar constraints: it includes qapi-types.h. That's in excess of
100KiB of crap most .c files don't actually need.
Add the typedef to qemu/typedefs.h, and include that instead of
qapi/error.h. Include qapi/error.h in .c files that need it and don't
get it now. Include qapi-types.h in qom/object.h for uint16List.
Update scripts/clean-includes accordingly. Update it further to match
reality: replace config.h by config-target.h, add sysemu/os-posix.h,
sysemu/os-win32.h. Update the list of includes in the qemu/osdep.h
comment quoted above similarly.
This reduces the number of objects depending on qapi/error.h from "all
of them" to less than a third. Unfortunately, the number depending on
qapi-types.h shrinks only a little. More work is needed for that one.

Some CPUs are of an opposite data-endianness to other components in the
system. Sometimes elfs have the data sections layed out with this CPU
data-endianness accounting for when loaded via the CPU, so byte swaps
(relative to other system components) will occur.
The leading example, is ARM's BE32 mode, which is is basically LE with
address manipulation on half-word and byte accesses to access the
hw/byte reversed address. This means that word data is invariant
across LE and BE32. This also means that instructions are still LE.
The expectation is that the elf will be loaded via the CPU in this
endianness scheme, which means the data in the elf is reversed at
compile time.
As QEMU loads via the system memory directly, rather than the CPU, we
need a mechanism to reverse elf data endianness to implement this
possibility.

Commit 6daf194d, be62a2eb and 312fd5f got rid of a bunch, but they
keep coming back. Tracked down with the Coccinelle semantic patch
from commit 312fd5f.

Both error_report_err() and monitor_printf() print to the same
destination when monitor_printf() is used correctly, i.e. within an
HMP monitor. Elsewhere, monitor_printf() does nothing, while
error_report_err() reports to stderr.
Most changed functions are HMP command handlers. These should only
run within an HMP monitor. The one exception is bdrv_password_cb(),
which should also only run within an HMP monitor.
Four command handlers prefix the error message with the command name:
balloon, migrate_set_capability, migrate_set_parameter, migrate.
Pointless, drop.
Unlike monitor_printf(), error_report_err() uses the error whole
instead of just its message obtained with error_get_pretty(). This
avoids suppressing its hint (see commit 50b7b00). Example:
(qemu) device_add ivshmem,id=666
Parameter 'id' expects an identifier
Identifiers consist of letters, digits, '-', '.', '_', starting with a letter.
Try "help device_add" for more information
The "Identifiers consist of..." line is new with this patch.
