Since the asset is expected locally and the test is guarded
with RESCUE_YL_PATH, keep it under the 'quick' category.

8f16cd80fc tests/functional: Convert Aarch64 SBSA-Ref avocado tests
Straight forward conversion. Since SBSA_FLASH files are not

88c907199a tests/functional: Convert the ppc_hv avocado test into a standalone test
A straight forward conversion, we just also have to remove the decorator
@skipUnless(os.getenv('SPEED')) since all non-trivial functional tests
are running in SPEED=thorough mode now. Also make sure that the extracted
assets are writable, so that the test does not fail if it gets re-run
and there are stale read-only files already around.

e2e9fd256e tests/functional: Convert the s390x avocado tests into standalone tests

bc419a1cc5 backends: Initial support for SPDM socket support
SPDM enables authentication, attestation and key exchange to assist in
providing infrastructure security enablement. It's a standard published
by the DMTF [1].

SPDM supports multiple transports, including PCIe DOE and MCTP.
This patch adds support to QEMU to connect to an external SPDM
instance.

SPDM support can be added to any QEMU device by exposing a
TCP socket to a SPDM server. The server can then implement the SPDM
decoding/encoding support, generally using libspdm [2].

This is similar to how the current TPM implementation works and means
that the heavy lifting of setting up certificate chains, capabilities,
measurements and complex crypto can be done outside QEMU by a well
supported and tested library.

84369d7621 tools: build qemu-vmsr-helper
Introduce a privileged helper to access RAPL MSR.

The privileged helper tool, qemu-vmsr-helper, is designed to provide
virtual machines with the ability to read specific RAPL (Running Average
Power Limit) MSRs without requiring CAP_SYS_RAWIO privileges or relying
on external, out-of-tree patches.

The helper tool leverages Unix permissions and SO_PEERCRED socket
options to enforce access control, ensuring that only processes
explicitly requesting read access via readmsr() from a valid Thread ID
can access these MSRs.

The list of RAPL MSRs that are allowed to be read by the helper tool is
defined in rapl-msr-index.h. This list corresponds to the RAPL MSRs that
will be supported in the next commit titled "Add support for RAPL MSRs
in KVM/QEMU."

The tool is intentionally designed to run on the Linux x86 platform.
This initial implementation is tailored for Intel CPUs but can be
extended to support AMD CPUs in the future.

1f94b21801 backends: Introduce HostIOMMUDevice abstract
A HostIOMMUDevice is an abstraction for an assigned device that is protected
by a physical IOMMU (aka host IOMMU). The userspace interaction with this
physical IOMMU can be done either through the VFIO IOMMU type 1 legacy
backend or the new iommufd backend. The assigned device can be a VFIO device
or a VDPA device. The HostIOMMUDevice is needed to interact with the host
IOMMU that protects the assigned device. It is especially useful when the
device is also protected by a virtual IOMMU as this latter use the translation
services of the physical IOMMU and is constrained by it. In that context the
HostIOMMUDevice can be passed to the virtual IOMMU to collect physical IOMMU
capabilities such as the supported address width. In the future, the virtual
IOMMU will use the HostIOMMUDevice to program the guest page tables in the
first translation stage of the physical IOMMU.

Introduce .realize() to initialize HostIOMMUDevice further after instance init.

Beside migration-test.c, there is nowadays migration-helpers.[ch],
too, so update the entry in the migration section to also cover these
files now.
While we're at it, exclude these files in the common qtest section,
since the migration test is well covered by the migration maintainers
already. Since the test is under very active development, it was causing
a lot of distraction to the generic qtest maintainers with regards to
the patches that need to be reviewed by the migration maintainers anyway.

fd53ee268d riscv: thead: Add th.sxstatus CSR emulation
The th.sxstatus CSR can be used to identify available custom extension
on T-Head CPUs. The CSR is documented here:
  https://github.com/T-head-Semi/thead-extension-spec/blob/master/xtheadsxstatus.adoc

An important property of this patch is, that the th.sxstatus MAEE field
is not set (indicating that XTheadMae is not available).
XTheadMae is a memory attribute extension (similar to Svpbmt) which is
implemented in many T-Head CPUs (C906, C910, etc.) and utilizes bits
in PTEs that are marked as reserved. QEMU maintainers prefer to not
implement XTheadMae, so we need give kernels a mechanism to identify
if XTheadMae is available in a system or not. And this patch introduces
this mechanism in QEMU in a way that's compatible with real HW
(i.e., probing the th.sxstatus.MAEE bit).

Further context can be found on the list:

a0359b56ec qapi/vfio: Add VFIO migration QAPI event
Add a new QAPI event for VFIO migration. This event will be emitted when
a VFIO device changes its migration state, for example, during migration
or when stopping/starting the guest.

This event can be used by management applications to get updates on the
current state of the VFIO device for their own purposes.

Note that this new event is introduced since VFIO devices have a unique
set of migration states which cannot be described as accurately by other
existing events such as run state or migration status.

4fb37aea7e hw/char: Implement STM32L4x5 USART skeleton
Add the basic infrastructure (register read/write, type...)
to implement the STM32L4x5 USART.

Also create different types for the USART, UART and LPUART
of the STM32L4x5 to deduplicate code and enable the
implementation of different behaviors depending on the type.

b928505d39 scripts: add script to compare compatibility properties
This script runs QEMU to obtain compat_props of machines and default
values of different types of drivers to produce comparison table. This
table can be used to compare machine types to choose the most suitable
machine or compare binaries to be sure that migration to the newer version
will save all device properties. Also the json or csv format of this
table can be used to check does a new machine affect the previous ones by
comparing tables with and without the new machine.

Default values (that will be used without machine compat_props) of
properties are needed to fill "holes" in the table (one machine has
the property but another machine not. For instance, 2.12 machine has
`{ "EPYC-" TYPE_X86_CPU, "xlevel", "0x8000000a" }`, but compat_pros of
3.1 machine doesn't have it. Thus, to compare these machines we need to
get unknown value of "EPYC-x86_64-cpu-xlevel" for 3.1 machine. These
unknown values in the table are called "holes". To get values for these
"holes" the script uses list of appropriate methods.)

Notes:
* Some init values from the devices can't be available like properties
from virtio-9p when configure has --disable-virtfs. This situations will
be seen in the table as "unavailable driver".
* Default values can be obtained in an unobvious way, like x86 features.
If the script doesn't know how to get property default value to compare
one machine with another it fills "holes" with "unavailable method". This
is done because script uses whitelist model to get default values of
different types. It means that the method that can't be applied to a new
type that can crash this script. It is better to get an "unavailable
driver" when creating a new machine with new compatible properties than
to break this script. So it turns out a more stable and generic script.
* If the default value can't be obtained because this property doesn't
exist or because this property can't have default value, appropriate
"hole" will be filled by "unknown property" or "no default value"
* If the property is applied to the abstract class, the script collects
default values from all child classes and prints all these classes
* Raw table (--raw flag) should be used with json/csv parameters for
scripts and etc. Human-readable (default) format contains transformed
and simplified values and it doesn't contain lines with the same values
  in columns

Example:
./scripts/compare-machine-types.py --mt pc-q35-6.2 pc-q35-7.1

4034159c1a Revert "hw/virtio: Add support for VDPA network simulation devices"
This reverts commit cd341fd1ff.

The patch adds non-upstream code in
include/standard-headers/linux/virtio_pci.h

4cbb1513a2 hw/gpio: introduce pcf8574 driver
NXP PCF8574 and compatible ICs are simple I2C GPIO expanders.
PCF8574 incorporates quasi-bidirectional IO, and simple
communication protocol, when IO read is I2C byte read, and
IO write is I2C byte write. User can think of it as
open-drain port, when line high state is input and line low
state is output.

1cdcfb6e93 hw/gpio: Implement STM32L4x5 GPIO
Features supported :
- the 8 STM32L4x5 GPIOs are initialized with their reset values
    (except IDR, see below)
- input mode : setting a pin in input mode "externally" (using input
irqs) results in an out irq (transmitted to SYSCFG)
- output mode : setting a bit in ODR sets the corresponding out irq
(if this line is configured in output mode)
- pull-up, pull-down
- push-pull, open-drain

Difference with the real GPIOs :
- Alternate Function and Analog mode aren't implemented :
pins in AF/Analog behave like pins in input mode
- floating pins stay at their last value
- register IDR reset values differ from the real one :
values are coherent with the other registers reset values
and the fact that AF/Analog modes aren't implemented
- setting I/O output speed isn't supported
- locking port bits isn't supported
- ADC function isn't supported
- GPIOH has 16 pins instead of 2 pins
- writing to registers LCKR, AFRL, AFRH and ASCR is ineffective

4c046ce37a hw/core: Add ResetContainer which holds objects implementing Resettable
Implement a ResetContainer. This is a subclass of Object, and it
implements the Resettable interface. The container holds a list of
arbitrary other objects which implement Resettable, and when the
container is reset, all the objects it contains are also reset.

This will allow us to have a 3-phase-reset equivalent of the old
qemu_register_reset() API: we will have a single "simulation reset"
top level ResetContainer, and objects in it are the equivalent of the
old QEMUResetHandler functions.

The qemu_register_reset() API manages its list of callbacks using a
QTAILQ, but here we use a GPtrArray for our list of Resettable
children: we expect the "remove" operation (which will need to do an
iteration through the list) to be fairly uncommon, and we get simpler
code with fewer memory allocations.

Since there is currently no listed owner in MAINTAINERS for the
existing reset-related source files, create a new section for
them, and add these new files there also.

c9cb496710 tests/avocado: ppc add hypervisor tests
The powernv and pseries machines both provide hypervisor facilities
that are supported by KVM. This is a large and complicated set of
features that don't get much system-level testing in ppc tests.

Add a new test case for these which runs QEMU KVM inside the target.
This downloads an Alpine VM image, boots it and downloads and installs
the qemu package, then boots a virtual machine under it, re-using the
original Alpine VM image.

273a70ae82 hw/arm/mps3r: Initial skeleton for mps3-an536 board
The AN536 is another FPGA image for the MPS3 development board. Unlike
the existing FPGA images we already model, this board uses a Cortex-R
family CPU, and it does not use any equivalent to the M-profile
"Subsystem for Embedded" SoC-equivalent that we model in hw/arm/armsse.c.
It's therefore more convenient for us to model it as a completely
separate C file.

This commit adds the basic skeleton of the board model, and the
code to create all the RAM and ROM. We assume that we're probably
going to want to add more images in future, so use the same
base class/subclass setup that mps2-tz.c uses, even though at
the moment there's only a single subclass.

Following commits will add the CPUs and the peripherals.

e8058c6d65 MAINTAINERS: Drop myself as VT-d maintainers
Due to my own limitation on bandwidth, I noticed that unfortunately I won't
have time to review VT-d patches at least in the near future. Meanwhile I
expect a lot of possibilities could actually happen in this area in the
near future.

To reflect that reality, I decided to drop myself from the VT-d role. It
shouldn't affect much since we still have Jason around like usual, and
Michael on top. But I assume it'll always be good if anyone would like to
fill this role up.

I'll still work on QEMU. So I suppose anyone can still copy me if one
thinks essential.

87c7fb7819 hw/virtio: Move vhost-user-input into virtio folder
vhost-user-input is in the input folder. On the other hand, the folder
'hw/virtio' maintains other virtio stubs (e.g. I2C, RNG, GPIO, etc).

This patch moves vhost-user-input into the virtio folder for better code
organization. No functionality change.

d95f260aee docs/devel/docs: Document .hx file syntax
We don't currently document the syntax of .hx files anywhere
except in a few comments at the top of individual .hx files.
We don't even have somewhere in the developer docs where we
could do this.

Add a new files docs/devel/docs.rst which can be a place to
document how our docs build process works. For the moment,
put in only a brief introductory paragraph and the documentation
of the .hx files. We could later add to this file by for
example describing how the QAPI-schema-to-docs process works,
or anything else that developers might need to know about
how to add documentation.

Make the .hx files refer to this doc file, and clean
up their header comments to be more accurate for the
usage in each file and less cut-n-pasted.

6e6d8ac62b backends/iommufd: Introduce the iommufd object
Introduce an iommufd object which allows the interaction
with the host /dev/iommu device.

The /dev/iommu can have been already pre-opened outside of qemu,
in which case the fd can be passed directly along with the
iommufd object:

This allows the iommufd object to be shared accross several
subsystems (VFIO, VDPA, ...). For example, libvirt would open
the /dev/iommu once.

If no fd is passed along with the iommufd object, the /dev/iommu
is opened by the qemu code.

d229996b40 MAINTAINERS: Add a general architecture section for x86
It's a little bit weird that the files in target/i386/ which
are not in a subfolder there do not have any associated
maintainer (and thus nobody might be CC:-ed on changes to
these files). We should have a general x86 section for these
files, similar to what we already have for s390x and mips.
Since Paolo is already listed as maintainer for both, the
x86 KVM and TCG CPUs, I'd like to suggest him as maintainer
for the general files, too.

21750c3c89 tests/tcg: add an explicit gdbstub register tester
We already do a couple of "info registers" for specific tests but this
is a more comprehensive multiarch test. It also has some output
helpful for debugging the gdbstub by showing which XML features are
advertised and what the underlying register numbers are.

My initial motivation was to see if there are any duplicate register
names exposed via the gdbstub while I was reviewing the proposed
register interface for TCG plugins.

Mismatches between the xml and remote-desc are reported for debugging
but do not fail the test.

We also skip the tests for the following arches for now until we can
investigate and fix any issues:

  - s390x (fails to read v0l->v15l, not seen in remote-registers)
  - ppc64 (fails to read vs0h->vs31h, not seen in remote-registers)

d9656f860a hw/ppc: Add emulation of AmigaOne XE board
The AmigaOne is a rebranded MAI Teron board that uses U-Boot firmware
with patches to support AmigaOS and is very similar to pegasos2 so can
be easily emulated sharing most code with pegasos2. The reason to
emulate it is that AmigaOS comes in different versions for AmigaOne
and PegasosII which only have drivers for one machine and firmware so
these only run on the specific machine. Adding this board allows
another AmigaOS version to be used reusing already existing peagasos2
emulation. (The AmigaOne was the first of these boards so likely most
widespread which then inspired Pegasos that was later replaced with
PegasosII due to problems with Articia S, so these have a lot of
similarity. Pegasos mainly ran MorphOS while the PegasosII version of
AmigaOS was added later and therefore less common than the AmigaOne
version.)
