ca4d5d862d target/sparc: Handle FPRS correctly on big-endian hosts
In CPUSparcState we define the fprs field as uint64_t. However we
then refer to it in translate.c via a TCGv_i32 which we set up with
tcg_global_mem_new_ptr(). This means that on a big-endian host when
the guest does something to writo te the FPRS register this value
ends up in the wrong half of the uint64_t, and the QEMU C code that
refers to env->fprs sees the wrong value. The effect of this is that
guest code that enables the FPU crashes with spurious FPU Disabled
exceptions. In particular, this is why
 tests/avocado/machine_sparc64_sun4u.py:Sun4uMachine.test_sparc64_sun4u
times out on an s390 host.

There are multiple ways we could fix this; since there are actually
only three bits in the FPRS register and the code in translate.c
would be a bit painful to convert to dealing with a TCGv_i64, change
the type of the CPU state struct field to match what translate.c is
expecting.

(None of the other fields referenced by the r32[] array in
sparc_tcg_init() have the wrong type.)

44a7c2ecd4 target/sparc: Use tcg_gen_lookup_and_goto_ptr for v9 WRASI
We incorporate %asi into tb->flags so that we may generate
inline code for the many ASIs for which it is easy to do so.
Setting %asi is common for e.g. memcpy and memset performing
block copy and clear, so it is worth noticing this case.

We must end the TB but do not need to return to the main loop.

d53106c997 tcg: Pass TCGHelperInfo to tcg_gen_callN
In preparation for compiling tcg/ only once, eliminate
the all_helpers array. Instantiate the info structs for
the generic helpers in accel/tcg/, and the structs for
the target-specific helpers in each translate.c.

Since we don't see all of the info structs at startup,
initialize at first use, using g_once_init_* to make
sure we don't race while doing so.

With the current structure of cputlb.c, there is no difference

The only use of the functions with explicit endianness was in

Philippe Mathieu-Daudé
883f2c591f bulk: Rename TARGET_FMT_plx -> HWADDR_FMT_plx
The 'hwaddr' type is defined in "exec/hwaddr.h" as:

    hwaddr is the type of a physical address
   (its size can be different from 'target_ulong').

All definitions use the 'HWADDR_' prefix, except TARGET_FMT_plx:

 $ fgrep define include/exec/hwaddr.h
 #define HWADDR_H
 #define HWADDR_BITS 64
 #define HWADDR_MAX UINT64_MAX
 #define TARGET_FMT_plx "%016" PRIx64
         ^^^^^^
 #define HWADDR_PRId PRId64
 #define HWADDR_PRIi PRIi64
 #define HWADDR_PRIo PRIo64
 #define HWADDR_PRIu PRIu64
 #define HWADDR_PRIx PRIx64
 #define HWADDR_PRIX PRIX64

Since hwaddr's size can be *different* from target_ulong, it is
very confusing to read one of its format using the 'TARGET_FMT_'
prefix, normally used for the target_long / target_ulong types:

$ fgrep TARGET_FMT_ include/exec/cpu-defs.h
 #define TARGET_FMT_lx "%08x"
 #define TARGET_FMT_ld "%d"
 #define TARGET_FMT_lu "%u"
 #define TARGET_FMT_lx "%016" PRIx64
 #define TARGET_FMT_ld "%" PRId64
 #define TARGET_FMT_lu "%" PRIu64

Apparently this format was missed during commit a8170e5e97
("Rename target_phys_addr_t to hwaddr"), so complete it by
doing a bulk-rename with:

 $ sed -i -e s/TARGET_FMT_plx/HWADDR_FMT_plx/g $(git grep -l TARGET_FMT_plx)

e03b56863d Replace config-time define HOST_WORDS_BIGENDIAN
Replace a config-time define with a compile time condition
define (compatible with clang and gcc) that must be declared prior to
its usage. This avoids having a global configure time define, but also
prevents from bad usage, if the config header wasn't included before.

This can help to make some code independent from qemu too.

gcc supports __BYTE_ORDER__ from about 4.6 and clang from 3.2.

17e3134061 Remove unnecessary minimum_version_id_old fields
The migration code will not look at a VMStateDescription's
minimum_version_id_old field unless that VMSD has set the
load_state_old field to something non-NULL. (The purpose of
minimum_version_id_old is to specify what migration version is needed
for the code in the function pointed to by load_state_old to be able
to handle it on incoming migration.)

We have exactly one VMSD which still has a load_state_old,
in the PPC CPU; every other VMSD which sets minimum_version_id_old
is doing so unnecessarily. Delete all the unnecessary ones.

Commit created with:
  sed -i '/\.minimum_version_id_old/d' $(git grep -l '\.minimum_version_id_old')
with the one legitimate use then hand-edited back in.

1797b08d24 tcg: Avoid including 'trace-tcg.h' in target translate.c
The root trace-events only declares a single TCG event:

  $ git grep -w tcg trace-events
  trace-events:115:# tcg/tcg-op.c
  trace-events:137:vcpu tcg guest_mem_before(TCGv vaddr, uint16_t info) "info=%d", "vaddr=0x%016"PRIx64" info=%d"

and only a tcg/tcg-op.c uses it:

  $ git grep -l trace_guest_mem_before_tcg
  tcg/tcg-op.c

therefore it is pointless to include "trace-tcg.h" in each target

744c72a837 cpu: Rename CPUClass vmsd -> legacy_vmsd
Quoting Peter Maydell [*]:

  There are two ways to handle migration for
  a CPU object:

  (1) like any other device, so it has a dc->vmsd that covers
  migration for the whole object. As usual for objects that are a
  subclass of a parent that has state, the first entry in the
  VMStateDescription field list is VMSTATE_CPU(), which migrates
  the cpu_common fields, followed by whatever the CPU's own migration
  fields are.

  (2) a backwards-compatible mechanism for CPUs that were
  originally migrated using manual "write fields to the migration
  stream structures". The on-the-wire migration format
  for those is based on the 'env' pointer (which isn't a QOM object),
  and the cpu_common part of the migration data is elsewhere.

  cpu_exec_realizefn() handles both possibilities:

  * for type 1, dc->vmsd is set and cc->vmsd is not,
    so cpu_exec_realizefn() does nothing, and the standard
    "register dc->vmsd for a device" code does everything needed

  * for type 2, dc->vmsd is NULL and so we register the
    vmstate_cpu_common directly to handle the cpu-common fields,
    and the cc->vmsd to handle the per-CPU stuff

  You can't change a CPU from one type to the other without breaking
  migration compatibility, which is why some guest architectures
  are stuck on the cc->vmsd form. New targets should use dc->vmsd.

To avoid new targets to start using type (2), rename cc->vmsd as
cc->legacy_vmsd. The correct field to implement is dc->vmsd (the
DeviceClass one).

See also commit b170fce3dd ("cpu: Register VMStateDescription
through CPUState") for historic background.

10fb1340b1 hw/sparc*: Move cpu_check_irqs() to target/sparc/
Since cpu_check_irqs() doesn't reference to anything outside
of CPUSPARCState, it better belongs to the architectural code
in target/, rather than the hardware specific code in hw/.

Note: while we moved the trace events, we don't rename them.

Remark: this allows us to build the leon3 machine stand alone,
fixing this link failure (because cpu_check_irqs is defined in
hw/sparc/sun4m.c which is only built when CONFIG_SUN4M is selected):

  /usr/bin/ld: target_sparc_win_helper.c.o: in function `cpu_put_psr':
  target/sparc/win_helper.c:91: undefined reference to `cpu_check_irqs'

1284119991 hw/sparc: Allow building without the leon3 machine
When building without the leon3 machine, we get this link failure:

  /usr/bin/ld: target_sparc_int32_helper.c.o: in function `leon3_irq_manager':
  target/sparc/int32_helper.c:172: undefined reference to `leon3_irq_ack'

This is because the leon3_irq_ack() is declared in hw/sparc/leon3.c,
which is only build when CONFIG_LEON3 is selected.

Fix by moving the leon3_cache_control_int() / leon3_irq_manager()
(which are specific to the leon3 machine) to hw/sparc/leon3.c.
Move the trace events along (but don't rename them).

leon3_irq_ack() is now locally used, declare it static to reduce
its scope.

7827168471 cpu: tcg_ops: move to tcg-cpu-ops.h, keep a pointer in CPUClass
we cannot in principle make the TCG Operations field definitions
conditional on CONFIG_TCG in code that is included by both common_ss
and specific_ss modules.

Therefore, what we can do safely to restrict the TCG fields to TCG-only
builds, is to move all tcg cpu operations into a separate header file,
which is only included by TCG, target-specific code.

This leaves just a NULL pointer in the cpu.h for the non-TCG builds.

This also tidies up the code in all targets a bit, having all TCG cpu
operations neatly contained by a dedicated data struct.

3ddba9a9e9 migration: Replace migration's JSON writer by the general one
Commit 8118f0950f "migration: Append JSON description of migration
stream" needs a JSON writer. The existing qobject_to_json() wasn't a
good fit, because it requires building a QObject to convert. Instead,
migration got its very own JSON writer, in commit 190c882ce2 "QJSON:
Add JSON writer". It tacitly limits numbers to int64_t, and strings
contents to characters that don't need escaping, unlike
qobject_to_json().

The previous commit factored the JSON writer out of qobject_to_json().
Replace migration's JSON writer by it.

7a5805a08f linux-user/sparc: Handle tstate in sparc64_get/set_context()
Correctly implement save/restore of the tstate field in
sparc64_get_context() and sparc64_set_context():
 * Don't use the CWP value from the guest in set_context
 * Construct and save a tstate value rather than leaving
   it as zero in get_context

To do this we factor out the "calculate TSTATE value from CPU state"
code from sparc_cpu_do_interrupt() into its own sparc64_tstate()
function; that in turn requires us to move some of the function
prototypes out from inside a CPU_NO_IO_DEFS ifdef guard.

246ff44295 linux-user/sparc: Correct sparc64_get/set_context() FPU handling
The handling of the FPU state in sparc64_get_context() and
sparc64_set_context() is not the same as what the kernel actually
does: we unconditionally read and write the FP registers and the
FSR, GSR and FPRS, but the kernel logic is more complicated:
 * in get_context the kernel has code for saving FPU registers,
   but it is hidden inside an "if (fenab) condition and the
   fenab flag is always set to 0 (inside an "#if 1" which has
   been in the kernel for over 15 years). So the effect is that
   the FPU state part is always written as zeroes.
 * in set_context the kernel looks at the fenab field in the
   structure from the guest, and only restores the state if
   it is set; it also looks at the structure's FPRS to see
   whether either the upper or lower or both halves of the
   register file have valid data.

Bring our implementations into line with the kernel:
 * in get_context:
    - clear the entire target_ucontext at the top of the
      function (as the kernel does)
    - then don't write the FPU state, so those fields remain zero
    - this fixes Coverity issue CID 1432305 by deleting the code
      it was complaining about
 * in set_context:
    - check the fenab and the fpsr to decide which parts of
      the FPU data to restore, if any
    - instead of setting the FPU registers by doing two
      32-bit loads and filling in the .upper and .lower parts
      of the CPU_Double union separately, just do a 64-bit
      load of the whole register at once. This fixes Coverity
      issue CID 1432303 because we now access the dregs[] part
      of the mcfpu_fregs union rather than the sregs[] part
      (which is not large enough to actually cover the whole of
      the data, so we were accessing off the end of sregs[])

We change both functions in a single commit to avoid potentially
breaking bisection.

243af0225a trace: switch position of headers to what Meson requires
Meson doesn't enjoy the same flexibility we have with Make in choosing
the include path. In particular the tracing headers are using
$(build_root)/$(<D).

In order to keep the include directives unchanged,
the simplest solution is to generate headers with patterns like
"trace/trace-audio.h" and place forwarding headers in the source tree
such that for example "audio/trace.h" includes "trace/trace-audio.h".

This patch is too ugly to be applied to the Makefiles now. It's only
a way to separate the changes to the tracing header files from the
Meson rewrite of the tracing logic.

Not exactly elegant, I'm afraid.

The "when != lbl:" is necessary to avoid transforming

         if (fun(args, &err)) {
             goto out
         }
         ...
     out:
         error_propagate(errp, err);

even though other paths to label out still need the error_propagate().
For an actual example, see sclp_realize().

Without the "when strict", Coccinelle transforms vfio_msix_setup(),
incorrectly. I don't know what exactly "when strict" does, only that
it helps here.

The match of return is narrower than what I want, but I can't figure
out how to express "return where the operand doesn't use @err". For
an example where it's too narrow, see vfio_intx_enable().

Silently fails to convert hw/arm/armsse.c, because Coccinelle gets
confused by ARMSSE being used both as typedef and function-like macro
there.  Converted manually.

Line breaks tidied up manually. One nested declaration of @local_err
deleted manually. Preexisting unwanted blank line dropped in
hw/riscv/sifive_e.c.

781c67ca55 cpu: Use DeviceClass reset instead of a special CPUClass reset
The CPUClass has a 'reset' method. This is a legacy from when
TYPE_CPU used not to inherit from TYPE_DEVICE. We don't need it any
more, as we can simply use the TYPE_DEVICE reset. The 'cpu_reset()'
function is kept as the API which most places use to reset a CPU; it
is now a wrapper which calls device_cold_reset() and then the
tracepoint function.

This change should not cause CPU objects to be reset more often
than they are at the moment, because:
 * nobody is directly calling device_cold_reset() or
   qdev_reset_all() on CPU objects
 * no CPU object is on a qbus, so they will not be reset either
   by somebody calling qbus_reset_all()/bus_cold_reset(), or
   by the main "reset sysbus and everything in the qbus tree"
   reset that most devices are reset by

Note that this does not change the need for each machine or whatever
to use qemu_register_reset() to arrange to call cpu_reset() -- that
is necessary because CPU objects are not on any qbus, so they don't
get reset when the qbus tree rooted at the sysbus bus is reset, and
this isn't being changed here.

All the changes to the files under target/ were made using the
included Coccinelle script, except:

(1) the deletion of the now-inaccurate and not terribly useful
"CPUClass::reset" comments was done with a perl one-liner afterwards:
  perl -n -i -e '/ CPUClass::reset/ or print' target/*/*.c

(2) this bit of the s390 change was done by hand, because the
Coccinelle script is not sophisticated enough to handle the
parent_reset call being inside another function:

a010bdbe71 gdbstub: extend GByteArray to read register helpers
Instead of passing a pointer to memory now just extend the GByteArray
