fdb87f0dc2 tests/acceptance: Don't test reboot on cubieboard
cubieboard does not have a functioning reboot, it halts and QEMU does
not exit.

vm.shutdown() is modified in a forthcoming patch that makes it less tolerant
of race conditions on shutdown; tests should consciously decide to WAIT
or to SHUTDOWN qemu.

So long as this test is attempting to reboot, the correct choice would
be to WAIT for the VM to exit. However, since that's broken, we should
SHUTDOWN instead.

SHUTDOWN is indeed what already happens when the test performs teardown,
however, if anyone fixes cubieboard reboot in the future, this test will
develop a new race condition that might be hard to debug.

Therefore: remove the reboot test and make it obvious that the VM is
still running when the test concludes, where the test teardown will do
the right thing.

a0690c3900 tests/acceptance: wait() instead of shutdown() where appropriate
When issuing 'reboot' to a VM with the no-reboot option, that VM will
exit. When then issuing a shutdown command, the cleanup may race.

Add calls to vm.wait() which will gracefully mark the VM as having
exited. Subsequent vm.shutdown() calls in generic tearDown code will not
race when called after completion of the call.

  - split into build/check/acceptance
  - remove -j from check stages
  - use artifacts to save build stage

- Add RX GDB simulator from Yoshinori Sato

The Renesas RX target emulation was added in commit c8c35e5f51,
these patches complete the target by adding the hardware emulation.

Tests included:

c7ebab0f16 tests/acceptance: add base class record/replay kernel tests
This patch adds a base for testing kernel boot recording and replaying.
Each test has the phase of recording and phase of replaying.
Virtual machines just boot the kernel and do not interact with
the network.
Structure and image links for the tests are borrowed from boot_linux_console.py
Testing controls the message pattern at the end of the kernel
boot for both record and replay modes. In replay mode QEMU is also
intended to finish the execution automatically.

2c9120a223 tests/acceptance/migration.py: Wait for both sides
When the source finishes migration the destination will still be
receiving the data sent by the source, so it might not have quite
finished yet, so won't quite have reached 'completed'.
This lead to occasional asserts in the next few checks.

After the source has finished, check the destination as well.
(We can't just switch to checking the destination, because it doesn't
give a status until it has started receiving the migration).

5baecf58ad tests/acceptance/machine_sparc_leon3: Disable HelenOS test
This test was written/tested around beginning of 2019, but was
extracted from a bigger series and posted end of June 2019 [*].
Unfortunately I did not notice commit 162abf1a8 was merged by
then, which implements the AHB and APB plug and play devices.

HelenOS 0.6 is expecting the PnP registers to be not implemented
by QEMU, then forces the discovered AMBA devices (see [2]).

Before 162abf1a8, the console was displaying:

6fd52d671d Acceptance test: add "boot_linux" tests
This acceptance test, validates that a full blown Linux guest can
successfully boot in QEMU. In this specific case, the guest chosen is
Fedora version 31.

 * x86_64, pc-i440fx and pc-q35 machine types, with TCG and KVM as
   accelerators

 * aarch64 and virt machine type, with TCG and KVM as accelerators

 * ppc64 and pseries machine type with TCG as accelerator

 * s390x and s390-ccw-virtio machine type with TCG as accelerator

The Avocado vmimage utils library is used to download and cache the
Linux guest images, and from those images a snapshot image is created
and given to QEMU. If a qemu-img binary is available in the build
directory, it's used to create the snapshot image, so that matching
qemu-system-* and qemu-img are used in the same test run. If qemu-img
is not available in the build tree, one is attempted to be found
installed system-wide (in the $PATH). If qemu-img is not found in the
build dir or in the $PATH, the test is canceled.

The method for checking the successful boot is based on "cloudinit"
and its "phone home" feature. The guest is given an ISO image with
the location of the phone home server, and the information to post
(the instance ID). Upon receiving the correct information, from the
guest, the test is considered to have PASSed.

This test is currently limited to user mode networking only, and
instructs the guest to connect to the "router" address that is hard
coded in QEMU.

To create the cloudinit ISO image that will be used to configure the
guest, the pycdlib library is also required and has been added as
requirement to the virtual environment created by "check-venv".

The console output is read by a separate thread, by means of the
Avocado datadrainer utility module.

b44513b13d Acceptance tests: introduce BUILD_DIR and SOURCE_DIR
Some tests may benefit from using resources from a build directory.
This introduces three variables that can help tests find resources in
those directories.

First, a BUILD_DIR is assumed to exist, given that the primary form of
running the acceptance tests is from a build directory (which may or
may not be the same as the source tree, that is, the SOURCE_DIR).

If the directory containing the acceptance tests happens to be a link
to a directory, it's assumed to it points to the source tree
(SOURCE_DIR), which is the behavior defined on the QEMU Makefiles. If
the directory containing the acceptance tests is not a link, then a
in-tree build is assumed, and the BUILD_DIR and SOURCE_DIR have the
same value.

ba21bde930 Acceptance tests: use avocado tags for machine type
The same way the arch tag is being used as a fallback for the arch
parameter, let's do the same for QEMU's machine and avoid some boiler
plate code.

This is now possible because, since Avocado 72.0, it's possible to use
tags with names that match the machine types on QEMU.

f108934fca Acceptance tests: introduce utility method for tags unique vals
Currently a test can describe the target architecture binary that it
should primarily be run with, be setting a single tag value.

The same approach is expected to be done with other QEMU aspects to be
tested, for instance, the machine type and accelerator, so let's
generalize the logic into a utility method.

c80c6beb17 tests/acceptance: Makes linux_initrd and empty_cpu_model use QEMUMachine
On linux_initrd and empty_cpu_model tests the same effect of
calling QEMU through run() to inspect the terminated process is
achieved with a sequence of set_qmp_monitor() / launch() / wait()
commands on an QEMUMachine object. This patch changes those
tests to use QEMUMachine instead, so they follow the same pattern
to launch QEMU found on other acceptance tests.

The Linux kernel that is extracted from a Debian package for the q800

efdb45bfd7 tests/boot_linux_console: Run BusyBox on 5KEc 64-bit cpu
This tests boots a Linux kernel on a Malta machine up to a
busybox shell on the serial console. Few commands are executed
before halting the machine (via reboot).

We use the Fedora 24 kernel extracted from the image at:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Architectures/MIPS
and the initrd cpio image from the kerneltests project:
https://kerneltests.org/

If MIPS is a target being built, "make check-acceptance" will
automatically include this test by the use of the "arch:mips" tags.

Alternatively, this test can be run using:

5449d937cd Acceptance tests: work around socket dir
Change 32558ce7a4 introduced specific directories for the socket dir
when using python/qemu/machine.py:QEMUMachine. iotests probably
didn't catch the condition that two simultaneous QEMUMachine
instances, without manually set temporary or socket dirs would clash.

Having two QEMUMachine instances is a condition expected for many
acceptance tests, and it's already used by the migration tests.

7219c2e842 Acceptance test x86_cpu_model_versions: split into smaller tests
The justifications being automatic destruction of the vm instances
when no longer needed and more compact test naming under a common
class.

Besides those, a smaller test makes the one and only assertion rather
obvious, which suggests that we could even get rid of the more verbose
(and manual) error messages (to be decided).

Naming of the tests tries to follow the following pattern:

 test_($cpu_version)_($no_arch_capabitilies_set_or_unset)_($machine_version)

The presence of each naming component is optional, depending on
whether the test manually sets it or not.

93bbbdf672 Fedora images: use URLs from stable "archives.fedoraproject.org"
The LinuxInitrd.test_with_2gib_file_should_work_with_linux_v4_16 test,
from tests/acceptance/linux_initrd.py, is currently failing to fetch
the "vmlinuz" file. The reason for the failure is that the Fedora
project retires older versions from the "dl.fedoraproject.org" URL,
and keeps them in "archives.fedoraproject.org". As an added note,
that test uses a Fedora 28 image, because of the specific Linux kernel
version requirements of the test.

For the sake of stability, let's use URLs from the archived and
supposedely ever stable URLs. The good news is that the currently
supported versions are also hosted on the later. This change limits
itself to change the URLs, while keeping the fetched files the same
(as can be evidenced by the unchanged hashes).

Documentation and the "vm tests" fedora definition were also updated.

fea374e7c8 pc: Don't make die-id mandatory unless necessary
We have this issue reported when using libvirt to hotplug CPUs:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1741451

Basically, libvirt is not copying die-id from
query-hotpluggable-cpus, but die-id is now mandatory.

We could blame libvirt and say it is not following the documented
interface, because we have this buried in the QAPI schema
documentation:

> Note: currently there are 5 properties that could be present
> but management should be prepared to pass through other
> properties with device_add command to allow for future
> interface extension. This also requires the filed names to be kept in
> sync with the properties passed to -device/device_add.

But I don't think this would be reasonable from us. We can just
make QEMU more flexible and let die-id to be omitted when there's
no ambiguity. This will allow us to keep compatibility with
existing libvirt versions.

Test case included to ensure we don't break this again.

Fixes: commit 176d2cda0d ("i386/cpu: Consolidate die-id validity in smp context")

fd63c6d1a5 i386: Add Cascadelake-Server-v2 CPU model
Add new version of Cascadelake-Server CPU model, setting
stepping=5 and enabling the IA32_ARCH_CAPABILITIES MSR
with some flags.

The new feature will introduce a new host software requirement,
breaking our CPU model runnability promises. This means we can't
enable the new CPU model version by default in QEMU 4.1, because
management software isn't ready yet to resolve CPU model aliases.
This is why "pc-*-4.1" will keep returning Cascadelake-Server-v1
if "-cpu Cascadelake-Server" is specified.

Includes a test case to ensure the right combinations of
machine-type + CPU model + command-line feature flags will work
as expected.

b910545fbf tests/acceptance: look for target architecture in test tags first
A test can, optionally, be tagged for one or many architectures. If a
test has been tagged for a single architecture, there's a high chance
that the test won't run on other architectures. This changes the
default order of choosing a default target architecture to use based
on the 'arch' tag value first.

The precedence order is for choosing a QEMU binary to use for a test
is now:

 * qemu_bin parameter
 * arch parameter
 * arch tag value (for example, x86_64 if "🥑 tags=arch:x86_64
   is used)

This means that if one runs:

 $ avocado run -p qemu_bin=/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64 test.py

No arch parameter or tag will influence the selection of the QEMU
target binary. If one runs:

 $ avocado run -p arch=ppc64 test.py

The target binary selection mechanism will attempt to find a binary
such as "ppc64-softmmu/qemu-system-ppc64". And finally, if one runs
a test that is tagged (in its docstring) with "arch:aarch64":

 $ avocado run aarch64.py

The target binary selection mechanism will attempt to find a binary
such as "aarch64-softmmu/qemu-system-aarch64".

At this time, no provision is made to cancel the execution of tests if
the arch parameter given (manually) does not match the test "arch"
tag, but it may be a useful default behavior to be added in the
future.

b194713f94 tests/acceptance: use "arch:" tag to filter target specific tests
Currently, some tests contains target architecture information, in the
form of a "x86_64" tag. But that tag is not respected in the default
execution, that is, "make check-acceptance" doesn't do anything with
it.

That said, even the target architecture handling currently present in
the "avocado_qemu.Test" class is pretty limited. For instance, by
default, it chooses a target based on the host architecture.

Because the original implementation of the tags feature in Avocado did
not include any time of namespace or "key:val" mechanism, no tag has
relation to another tag. The new implementation of the tags feature
from version 67.0 onwards, allows "key:val" tags, and because of that,
a test can be classified with a tag in a given key. For instance, the
new proposed version of the "boot_linux_console.py" test, which
downloads and attempts to run a x86_64 kernel, is now tagged as:

  🥑 tags=arch:x86_64

This means that it can be filtered (out) when no x86_64 target is
available. At the same time, tests that don't have a "arch:" tag,
will not be filtered out.

2c44d68f2b tests/acceptance: introduce arch parameter and attribute
It's useful to define the architecture that should be used in
situations such as:
 * the intended target of the QEMU binary to be used on tests
 * the architecture of code to be run within the QEMU binary, such
as a kernel image or a full blown guest OS image

This commit introduces both a test parameter and a test instance
attribute, that will contain such a value.

Now, when the "arch" test parameter is given, it will influence the
selection of the default QEMU binary, if one is not given explicitly
by means of the "qemu_img" parameter.

bb4928c7ca i386: Disable OSPKE on CPU model definitions
Currently, the Cascadelake-Server, Icelake-Client, and
Icelake-Server are always generating the following warning:

  qemu-system-x86_64: warning: \
host doesn't support requested feature: CPUID.07H:ECX [bit 4]

This happens because OSPKE was never returned by
GET_SUPPORTED_CPUID or x86_cpu_get_supported_feature_word().
OSPKE is a runtime flag automatically set by the KVM module or by
TCG code, was always cleared by x86_cpu_filter_features(), and
was not supposed to appear on the CPU model table.

Remove the OSPKE flag from the CPU model table entries, to avoid
the bogus warning and avoid returning invalid feature data on
query-cpu-* QMP commands. As OSPKE was always cleared by
x86_cpu_filter_features(), this won't have any guest-visible
impact.

Include a test case that should detect the problem if we introduce
a similar bug again.

it's allowed to be loaded below 4 GB address.

timeout is updated to 5 minutes as well since we need more time to load a

b7287d4283 tests.acceptance: adds multi vm capability for acceptance tests
This change adds the possibility to write acceptance tests with multi
virtual machine support. It's done keeping the virtual machines objects
stored in a test attribute (dictionary). This dictionary shouldn't be
accessed directly but through the new method added `get_vm`. This new
method accept a list of args (that will be added as virtual machine
arguments) and an optional name argument. The name is the key that
identify a single virtual machine along the test machines available. If
a name without a machine is informed a new machine will be instantiated.

The current usage of vm in tests will not be broken by this change since
it keeps a property called vm in the base test class. This property only
calls the new method `get_vm` with default parameters (no args and
'default' as machine name).

8f8fd9edba Introduce a Python module structure
This is a simple move of Python code that wraps common QEMU
functionality, and are used by a number of different tests
and scripts.

By treating that code as a real Python module, we can more easily:
 * reuse code
 * have a proper place for the module's own unittests
 * apply a more consistent style
 * generate documentation

9531d26c10 Acceptance tests: drop usage of "🥑 enable"
The Avocado test runner attemps to find its INSTRUMENTED (that is,
Python based tests) in a manner that is as safe as possible to the
user. Different from plain Python unittest, it won't load or
execute test code on an operation such as:

 $ avocado list tests/acceptance/

Before version 68.0, the logic implemented to identify INSTRUMENTED
tests would require either the "🥑 enable" or "🥑
recursive" statement as a flag for tests that would not inherit
directly from "avocado.Test". This is not necessary anymore,
and because of that the boiler plate statements can now be removed.

82d4c923a5 Acceptance tests: add Linux initrd checking test
QEMU used to exits with a not accurate error message when
an initrd > 2GiB was passed. That was fixed on patch:

	commit f3839fda57
	Author: Li Zhijian <lizhijian@cn.fujitsu.com>
	Date: Thu Sep 13 18:07:13 2018 +0800

change get_image_size return type to int64_t

This change adds a regression test for that fix. It starts
QEMU with a 2GiB dummy initrd, and checks that it evaluates the
file size correctly and prints an accurate message.

f6e501a28e virtio: Provide version-specific variants of virtio PCI devices
Many of the current virtio-*-pci device types actually represent
3 different types of devices:
* virtio 1.0 non-transitional devices
* virtio 1.0 transitional devices
* virtio 0.9 ("legacy device" in virtio 1.0 terminology)

That would be just an annoyance if it didn't break our device/bus
compatibility QMP interfaces. With these multi-purpose device
types, there's no way to tell management software that
transitional devices and legacy devices require a Conventional
PCI bus.

The multi-purpose device types would also prevent us from telling
management software what's the PCI vendor/device ID for them,
because their PCI IDs change at runtime depending on the bus
where they were plugged.

This patch adds separate device types for each of those virtio
device flavors:

- virtio-*-pci: the existing multi-purpose device types
  - Configurable using `disable-legacy` and `disable-modern`
    properties
  - Legacy driver support is automatically enabled/disabled
depending on the bus where it is plugged
  - Supports Conventional PCI and PCI Express buses
(but Conventional PCI is incompatible with
    disable-legacy=off)
  - Changes PCI vendor/device IDs at runtime
- virtio-*-pci-transitional: virtio-1.0 device supporting legacy drivers
  - Supports Conventional PCI buses only, because
    it has a PIO BAR
- virtio-*-pci-non-transitional: modern-only
  - Supports both Conventional PCI and PCI Express buses

The existing TYPE_* macros for these types will point to an
abstract base type, so existing casts in the code will keep
working for all variants.

A simple test script (tests/acceptance/virtio_version.py) is
included, to check if the new device types are equivalent to
using the `disable-legacy` and `disable-modern` options.

c1cc73f407 Acceptance tests: add Linux kernel boot and console checking test
This test boots a Linux kernel, and checks that the given command
line was effective in two ways:

 * It makes the kernel use the set "console device" as a console
 * The kernel records the command line as expected in the console

Given that way too many error conditions may occur, and detecting the
kernel boot progress status may not be trivial, this test relies on a
timeout to handle unexpected situations. Also, it's *not* tagged as a
quick test for obvious reasons.

It may be useful, while interactively running/debugging this test, or
tests similar to this one, to show some of the logging channels.
Example:

 $ avocado --show=QMP,console run boot_linux_console.py
