spapr/pci: populate PCI DT in reverse order Since commit 1d2d974244c6 "spapr_pci: enumerate and add PCI device tree", QEMU populates the PCI device tree in the opposite order compared to SLOF. Before 1d2d974244c6: Populating /pci@800000020000000 00 0000 (D) : 1af4 1000 virtio [ net ] 00 0800 (D) : 1af4 1001 virtio [ block ] 00 1000 (D) : 1af4 1009 virtio [ network ] Populating /pci@800000020000000/unknown-legacy-device@2 7e5294b8 : /pci@800000020000000 7e52b998 : |-- ethernet@0 7e52c0c8 : |-- scsi@1 7e52c7e8 : +-- unknown-legacy-device@2 ok Since 1d2d974244c6: Populating /pci@800000020000000 00 1000 (D) : 1af4 1009 virtio [ network ] Populating /pci@800000020000000/unknown-legacy-device@2 00 0800 (D) : 1af4 1001 virtio [ block ] 00 0000 (D) : 1af4 1000 virtio [ net ] 7e5e8118 : /pci@800000020000000 7e5ea6a0 : |-- unknown-legacy-device@2 7e5eadb8 : |-- scsi@1 7e5eb4d8 : +-- ethernet@0 ok This behaviour change is not actually a bug since no assumptions should be made on DT ordering. But it has no real justification either, other than being the consequence of the way fdt_add_subnode() inserts new elements to the front of the FDT rather than adding them to the tail. This patch reverts to the historical SLOF ordering by walking PCI devices in reverse order. This reconciles pseries with x86 machine types behavior. It is expected to make things easier when porting existing applications to power. pci: Replace pci_find_domain() with more general pci_root_bus_path() pci_find_domain() is used in a number of places where we want an id for a whole PCI domain (i.e. the subtree under a PCI root bus). The trouble is that many platforms may support multiple independent host bridges with no hardware supplied notion of domain number. This patch, therefore, replaces calls to pci_find_domain() with calls to a new pci_root_bus_path() returning a string. The new call is implemented in terms of a new callback in the host bridge class, so it can be defined in some way that's well defined for the platform. When no callback is available we fall back on the qbus name. Most current uses of pci_find_domain() are for error or informational messages, so the change in identifiers should be harmless. The exception is pci_get_dev_path(), whose results form part of migration streams. To maintain compatibility with old migration streams, the PIIX PCI host is altered to always supply "0000" for this path, which matches the old domain number (since the code didn't actually support domains other than 0). For the pseries (spapr) PCI bridge we use a different platform-unique identifier (pseries machines can routinely have dozens of PCI host bridges). Theoretically that breaks migration streams, but given that we don't yet have migration support for pseries, it doesn't matter. Any other machines that have working migration support including PCI devices will need to be updated to maintain migration stream compatibility. iommu: Add universal DMA helper functions Not that long ago, every device implementation using DMA directly accessed guest memory using cpu_physical_memory_*(). This meant that adding support for a guest visible IOMMU would require changing every one of these devices to go through IOMMU translation. Shortly before qemu 1.0, I made a start on fixing this by providing helper functions for PCI DMA. These are currently just stubs which call the direct access functions, but mean that an IOMMU can be implemented in one place, rather than for every PCI device. Clearly, this doesn't help for non PCI devices, which could also be IOMMU translated on some platforms. It is also problematic for the devices which have both PCI and non-PCI version (e.g. OHCI, AHCI) - we cannot use the the pci_dma_*() functions, because they assume the presence of a PCIDevice, but we don't want to have to check between pci_dma_*() and cpu_physical_memory_*() every time we do a DMA in the device code. This patch makes the first step on addressing both these problems, by introducing new (stub) dma helper functions which can be used for any DMA capable device. These dma functions take a DMAContext *, a new (currently empty) variable describing the DMA address space in which the operation is to take place. NULL indicates untranslated DMA directly into guest physical address space. The intention is that in future non-NULL values will given information about any necessary IOMMU translation. DMA using devices must obtain a DMAContext (or, potentially, contexts) from their bus or platform. For now this patch just converts the PCI wrappers to be implemented in terms of the universal wrappers, converting other drivers can take place over time. Cc: Michael S.
