bjh21 fe26e66da4 Instead of using mktemp -d (which isn't available on many systems), use mkdir 
in a loop to create a temporary directory.  Add a few chacks for the sanity
of /tmp first, so as to avoid making the loop infinite.

lukem e0f433e649 ensure all sysinst-using makefs generated images have at least 15 inodes free, 
and be consistent how MAKEFS_FLAGS is defined.

bjh21 df35897577 When matching "?" and "*" in a regexp, put backslashes before them 
even at the start of the regexp.  This seems to be necessary to
placate mawk.

Mostly from distrib/i386/floppies/common/Makefile.bootfloppy.

XXX Makefile for multi-volume fdset is not yet. (see Makefile.fdset for i386)

he 4108470a24 Expand tabulators in .Bd -literal section, containing required irq/drq/io 
settings for devices.  This is so that the resulting .html file renders
as expected, instead of having the tabulated text coloumns flush against
the right margin, at least when viewed with Netscape 4.77.
