053b708627 hw/ppc: Use MachineClass->default_nic in the ppc machines
Mark the default NIC via the new MachineClass->default_nic setting
so that the machine-defaults code in vl.c can decide whether the
default NIC is usable or not (for example when compiling with the
"--without-default-devices" configure switch).

e7e0d52dc6 hw/ppc/e500plat: Only try to add valid dynamic sysbus devices to platform bus
The e500plat machine device plug callback currently calls
platform_bus_link_device() for any sysbus device.  This is overly
broad, because platform_bus_link_device() will unconditionally grab
the IRQs and MMIOs of the device it is passed, whether it was
intended for the platform bus or not.  Restrict hotpluggability of
sysbus devices to only those devices on the dynamic sysbus allowlist.

We were mostly getting away with this because the board creates the
platform bus as the last device it creates, and so the hotplug
callback did not do anything for all the sysbus devices created by
the board itself.  However if the user plugged in a device which
itself uses a sysbus device internally we would have mishandled this
and probably asserted. An example of this is:
 qemu-system-ppc64 -M ppce500 -device macio-oldworld

This isn't a sensible command because the macio-oldworld device
is really specific to the 'g3beige' machine, but we now fail
with a reasonable error message rather than asserting:
qemu-system-ppc64: Device heathrow is not supported by this machine yet.

9731664559 ppc/e500: use memdev for RAM
memory_region_allocate_system_memory() API is going away, so
replace it with memdev allocated MemoryRegion. The later is
initialized by generic code, so board only needs to opt in
to memdev scheme by providing
  MachineClass::default_ram_id
and using MachineState::ram instead of manually initializing
RAM memory region.

12e9493df9 Include hw/boards.h a bit less
hw/boards.h pulls in almost 60 headers.  The less we include it into
headers, the better.  As a first step, drop superfluous inclusions,
and downgrade some more to what's actually needed.  Gets rid of just
one inclusion into a header.

a3fc839635 platform-bus-device: use device plug callback instead of machine_done notifier
platform-bus were using machine_done notifier to get and map
(assign irq/mmio resources) dynamically added sysbus devices
after all '-device' options had been processed.
That however creates non obvious dependencies on ordering of
machine_done notifiers and requires carefull line juggling
to keep it working. For example see comment above
create_platform_bus() and 'straitforward' arm_load_kernel()
had to converted to machine_done notifier and that lead to
yet another machine_done notifier to keep it working
arm_register_platform_bus_fdt_creator().

Instead of hiding resource assignment in platform-bus-device
to magically initialize sysbus devices, use device plug
callback and assign resources explicitly at board level
at the moment each -device option is being processed.

That adds a bunch of machine declaration boiler plate to
e500plat board, similar to ARM/x86 but gets rid of hidden
machine_done notifier and would allow to remove the dependent
notifiers in ARM code simplifying it and making code flow
easier to follow.

03f048090e ppc: e500: switch E500 based machines to full machine definition
Convert PPCE500Params to PCCE500MachineClass which it essentially is,
and introduce PCCE500MachineState to keep track of E500 specific
state instead of adding global variables or extra parameters to
functions when we need to keep data beyond machine init
(i.e. make it look like typical fully defined machine).

It's pretty shallow conversion instead of currently used trivial
DEFINE_MACHINE() macro. It adds extra 60LOC of boilerplate code
of full machine definition.

The patch on top[1] will use PCCE500MachineState to keep track of
platform_bus device and add E500Plate specific machine class
to use HOTPLUG_HANDLER for explicitly initializing dynamic
sysbus devices at the time they are added instead of delaying
it to machine done time by platform_bus_init_notify() which is
being removed.

devices except TYPE_ETSEC_COMMON, so register it as the only

0bd1909da6 machine: Replace has_dynamic_sysbus with list of allowed devices
The existing has_dynamic_sysbus flag makes the machine accept
every user-creatable sysbus device type on the command-line.
Replace it with a list of allowed device types, so machines can
easily accept some sysbus devices while rejecting others.

To keep exactly the same behavior as before, the existing
has_dynamic_sysbus=true assignments are replaced with a
TYPE_SYS_BUS_DEVICE entry on the allowed list.  Other patches
will replace the TYPE_SYS_BUS_DEVICE entries with more specific
lists of devices.

Memory barriers are needed also by Xen and, when the ioeventfd
bugs are fixed, by TCG as well.

sysemu/kvm.h is not anymore needed in sysemu/dma.h, move it to

cb3778a045 PPC: e500 pci host: Add support for ATMUs
The e500 PCI controller has configurable windows that allow a guest OS
to selectively map parts of the PCI bus space to CPU address space and
to selectively map parts of the CPU address space for DMA requests into
PCI visible address ranges.

So far, we've simply assumed that this mapping is 1:1 and ignored it.

However, the PCICSRBAR (CCSR mapped in PCI bus space) always has to live
inside the first 32bits of address space. This means if we always treat
all mappings as 1:1, this map will collide with our RAM map from the CPU's
point of view.

So this patch adds proper ATMU support which allows us to keep the PCICSRBAR
below 32bits local to the PCI bus and have another, different window to PCI
BARs at the upper end of address space. We leverage this on e500plat though,
mpc8544ds stays virtually 1:1 like it was before, but now also goes via ATMU.

With this patch, I can run guests with lots of RAM and not coincidently access
MSI-X mappings while I really want to access RAM.

e6b4e5f479 PPC: e500: Move CCSR and MMIO space to upper end of address space
On e500 we're basically guaranteed to have 36bits of physical address space
available for our enjoyment. Older chips (like the mpc8544) only had 32bits,
but everything from e500v2 onwards bumped it up.

It's reasonably safe to assume that if you're using the PV machine, your guest
kernel is configured to support 36bit physical address space. So in order to
support more guest RAM, we can move CCSR and other MMIO windows right below the
end of our 36bit address space, just like later SoC versions of e500 do.

With this patch, I'm able to successfully spawn an e500 VM with -m 48G.

f70873438d PPC: e500: Support dynamically spawned sysbus devices
For e500 our approach to supporting dynamically spawned sysbus devices is to
create a simple bus from the guest's point of view within which we map those
devices dynamically.

We allocate memory regions always within the "platform" hole in address
space and map IRQs to predetermined IRQ lines that are reserved for platform
device usage.

This maps really nicely into device tree logic, so we can just tell the
guest about our virtual simple bus in device tree as well.

c165473269 hw: Clean up bogus default boot order
We set default boot order "cad" in every single machine definition
except "pseries" and "moxiesim", even though very few boards actually
care for boot order, and "cad" makes sense for even fewer.

Machines that care:

* pc and its variants

  Accept up to three letters 'a', 'b' (undocumented alias for 'a'),
  'c', 'd' and 'n'.  Reject all others (fatal with -boot).

* nseries (n800, n810)

  Check whether order starts with 'n'.  Silently ignored otherwise.

* prep, g3beige, mac99

  Extract the first character the machine understands (subset of
  'a'..'f').  Silently ignored otherwise.

* spapr

  Accept an arbitrary string (vl.c restricts it to contain only
  'a'..'p', no duplicates).

* sun4[mdc]

  Use the first character.  Silently ignored otherwise.

Strip characters these machines ignore from their default boot order.

For all other machines, remove the unused default boot order
alltogether.

Note that my rename of QEMUMachine member boot_order to
default_boot_order and QEMUMachineInitArgs member boot_device to
boot_order has a welcome side effect: it makes every use of boot
orders visible in this patch, for easy review.

Older KVM versions don't support EPR which breaks guests when we announce
MPIC variants that support EPR.

Catch that case and expose only MPIC version 2.0 which tells the guest that

0d09e41a51 hw: move headers to include/
Many of these should be cleaned up with proper qdev-/QOM-ification.
Right now there are many catch-all headers in include/hw/ARCH depending
on cpu.h, and this makes it necessary to compile these files per-target.
However, fixing this does not belong in these patches.

f5fba9d27f PPC: e500: Select MPIC v4.2 on ppce500 platform
The compatible string is changed to fsl,mpic on all e500 platforms, to
advertise the existence of BRR1.  This matches what the device tree will
have on real hardware.

With MPIC v4.2 max_cpu can be increased from 15 to 32.

e4ada29e90 Make default boot order machine specific
This patch makes default boot order machine specific instead of
set globally. The default boot order can be set per machine in
QEMUMachine boot_order. This also allows a machine to receive a
NULL boot order when -boot isn't used and take an appropriate action
accordingly. This helps machine boots from the devices as set in
guest's non-volatile memory location in case no boot order is
provided by the user.

as it's defined as being fully device tree based.

Thus we can change the initial PCI slot ID to 0x1 which gives us a
whopping 31 PCI devices we can support with this machine now!

5f072e1f30 create struct for machine initialization arguments
This should help us to:
- More easily add or remove machine initialization arguments without
  having to change every single machine init function;
- More easily make mechanical changes involving the machine init
  functions in the future;
- Let machine initialization forward the init arguments to other
  functions more easily.

This change was half-mechanical process: first the struct was added with
the local ram_size, boot_device, kernel_*, initrd_*, and cpu_model local
variable initialization to all functions. Then the compiler helped me
locate the local variables that are unused, so they could be removed.

4d5c29ca45 PPC: e500: add generic e500 platform
This gives the kernel a paravirtualized machine to target, without
requiring both sides to pretend to be targeting a specific board
that likely has little to do with the host in KVM scenarios.  This
avoids the need to add new boards to QEMU, just to be able to
run KVM on new CPUs.
