3029681235 hw/misc/max111x: Create header file for documentation, TYPE_ macros
Create a header file for the hw/misc/max111x device, in the
usual modern style for QOM devices:
 * definition of the TYPE_ constants and macros
 * definition of the device's state struct so that it can
be embedded in other structs if desired
 * documentation of the interface

This allows us to use TYPE_MAX_1111 in the spitz.c code rather
than the string "max1111".

7bd0d13fa5 MAINTAINERS: Add an entry for common Renesas peripherals
Renesas peripherals are common to SH4/RX based MCUs. Their
datasheets share common sections. It makes sense to maintain
them altogether.
Add the uncovered UART SCI peripheral.
The current names are misleading (see the 'sh_' prefix).
In another series we will remove these peripherals with
the 'renesas_' prefix. Out of the scope of this change in
MAINTAINERS.

c7ebab0f16 tests/acceptance: add base class record/replay kernel tests
This patch adds a base for testing kernel boot recording and replaying.
Each test has the phase of recording and phase of replaying.
Virtual machines just boot the kernel and do not interact with
the network.
Structure and image links for the tests are borrowed from boot_linux_console.py
Testing controls the message pattern at the end of the kernel
boot for both record and replay modes. In replay mode QEMU is also
intended to finish the execution automatically.

6634f1c43d MAINTAINERS: Add an entry to review Avocado based acceptance tests
Acceptance tests can test any piece of the QEMU codebase.
As such, the directory holding them does not belong to a specific
    subsystem with designated maintainers.

Each subsystem covered by a test is welcomed to add the test path
    to its section.
See for example commits 71b290e70, b11785ca2 or 5d480ddde.

Add an entry for to allow reviewers to be notified when acceptance /
integration tests are added or modified.
The designated reviewers are not maintainers, subsystem maintainers
are expected to merge their tests.

879f60f01c hw/intc: Initial commit of lowRISC Ibex PLIC
The Ibex core contains a PLIC that although similar to the RISC-V spec
is not RISC-V spec compliant.

This patch implements a Ibex PLIC in a somewhat generic way.

As the current RISC-V PLIC needs tidying up, my hope is that as the Ibex
PLIC move towards spec compliance this PLIC implementation can be
updated until it can replace the current PLIC.

a9fb446811 MAINTAINERS: Adjust sh4 maintainership
This patch transfers sh4 sections to Yoshinori Sato, who is
best positioned in the community to assume sh4 maintainership.
He is the maintainer of the related target rx as well, which
means that some synergy between the two targets can be expected
in future.

Further adjustments, reorganizations, and improvements of sh4
sections are left to the future maintainer to be devised and
executed, as he deems suitable.

Aurelien and Magnus are deleted as maintainers in some sections
of the MAINTAINERS file with this patch. However, they will not
be deleted from QEMU Hall of Fame, where their names will always
remained carved in stone as QEMU pioneers and granddaddies.

bb4e58c613 blockdev: Split off basic bitmap operations for qemu-img
Upcoming patches want to add some basic bitmap manipulation abilities
to qemu-img. But blockdev.o is too heavyweight to link into qemu-img
(among other things, it would drag in block jobs and transaction
support - qemu-img does offline manipulation, where atomicity is less
important because there are no concurrent modifications to compete
with), so it's time to split off the bare bones of what we will need
into a new file block/monitor/bitmap-qmp-cmds.o.

This is sufficient to expose 6 QMP commands for use by qemu-img (add,
remove, clear, enable, disable, merge), as well as move the three
helper functions touched in the previous patch. Regarding
MAINTAINERS, the new file is automatically part of block core, but
also makes sense as related to other dirty bitmap files.

edb0590403 bitmaps: Update maintainer
Dirty bitmaps are important to incremental backups, including exposure
over NBD where I'm already maintainer. Also, I'm aware that lately I
have been doing as much code/review on bitmaps as John Snow who is
trying to scale back in order to focus elsewhere; and many of the
recent patches have come from Vladimir, who is also interested in

4b4d96c776 MAINTAINERS: Mark the LatticeMico32 target as orphan
Michael Walle expressed his desire to orphan the lm32 target [*]:

I guess it is time to pull the plug. Mainly, because I have
no time for this anymore. I've always worked on this on my
spare time and life changed. And secondly, I guess RISC-V is
taking over ;) It has a far better ecosystem. Also, to my
knowledge the only (public) user of LM32 is milkymist and this
project is dead for years now..

So time to say goodbye. It was fun and I've learned a lot -
technically and also how a huge open source project works.
Thank you everyone for that :)

Basically everything still works and there are even TCG test
cases which covers all instructions the processor has.

Many thanks to Michael for his substantial contributions to QEMU,
and for maintaining the LM32 target for various years!

c3347ed0d2 s390x: protvirt: Support unpack facility
The unpack facility provides the means to setup a protected guest. A
protected guest cannot be introspected by the hypervisor or any
user/administrator of the machine it is running on.

Protected guests are encrypted at rest and need a special boot
mechanism via diag308 subcode 8 and 10.

Code 8 sets the PV specific IPLB which is retained separately from
those set via code 5.

Code 10 is used to unpack the VM into protected memory, verify its
integrity and start it.

9c263d07fd scripts/run-coverity-scan: Script to run Coverity Scan build
Add a new script to automate the process of running the Coverity
Scan build tools and uploading the resulting tarball to the
website.

This is intended eventually to be driven from Travis,
but it can be run locally, if you are a maintainer of the
QEMU project on the Coverity Scan website and have the secret
upload token.

The script must be run on a Fedora 30 system. Support for using a

c11a8e890c docs/system: Split target-arm.rst into sub-documents
Currently the documentation for Arm system emulator targets is in a
single target-arm.rst. This describes only some of the boards and
often in a fairly abbreviated fashion. Restructure it so that each
board has its own documentation file in the docs/system/arm/
subdirectory.

This will hopefully encourage us to write board documentation that
describes the board in detail, rather than a few brief paragraphs
in a single long page. The table of contents should also help users
to find the board they care about faster.

Once the structure is in place we'll be able to move microvm.rst
from the top-level docs/ directory.

All the text from the old page is retained, except for the final
paragraph ("A Linux 2.6 test image is available on the QEMU web site.
More information is available in the QEMU mailing-list archive."),
which is deleted. The git history shows this was originally added
in reference to the integratorcp board (at that time the only
Arm board that was supported), and has subsequently gradually been
further and further separated from the integratorcp documentation
by the insertion of other board documentation sections. It's
extremely out of date and no longer accurate, since AFAICT there
isn't an integratorcp kernel on the website any more; so better
deleted than retained.

a2dde2f221 monitor/hmp: rename device-hotplug.c to block/monitor/block-hmp-cmds.c
These days device-hotplug.c only contains the hmp_drive_add
In the next patch, rest of hmp_drive* functions will be moved
there.

Also add block-hmp-cmds.h to contain prototypes of these
functions

License for block-hmp-cmds.h since it contains the code
moved from sysemu.h which lacks license and thus according
to LICENSE is under GPLv2+

1f050a4690 aio-posix: extract ppoll(2) and epoll(7) fd monitoring
The ppoll(2) and epoll(7) file descriptor monitoring implementations are
mixed with the core util/aio-posix.c code. Before adding another
implementation for Linux io_uring, extract out the existing
ones so there is a clear interface and the core code is simpler.

The new interface is AioContext->fdmon_ops, a pointer to a FDMonOps
struct. See the patch for details.

Semantic changes:
1. ppoll(2) now reflects events from pollfds[] back into AioHandlers
while we're still on the clock for adaptive polling. This was
already happening for epoll(7), so if it's really an issue then we'll
need to fix both in the future.
2. epoll(7)'s fallback to ppoll(2) while external events are disabled
was broken when the number of fds exceeded the epoll(7) upgrade
threshold. I guess this code path simply wasn't tested and no one
noticed the bug. I didn't go out of my way to fix it but the correct
code is simpler than preserving the bug.

I also took some liberties in removing the unnecessary
AioContext->epoll_available (just check AioContext->epollfd != -1
instead) and AioContext->epoll_enabled (it's implicit if our
AioContext->fdmon_ops callbacks are being invoked) fields.

3a8273b1ab docs: Remove old texinfo sources
We can now delete the old .texi files, which we have been keeping in
the tree as a parallel set of documentation to the new rST sources.
The only remaining use of Texinfo is the autogenerated manuals
and HTML documents created from the QAPI JSON doc comments.

1bf84a1e2e docs/system: Convert qemu-cpu-models.texi to rST
This doc was originally written by Daniel P. Berrangé
<berrange@redhat.com>, introduced via commit[1]: 2544e9e4aa (docs: add
guidance on configuring CPU models for x86, 2018-06-27).

In this patch:

  - 1-1 conversion of Texinfo to rST, besides a couple of minor
tweaks that are too trivial to mention. (Thanks to Stephen
Finucane on IRC for the suggestion to use rST "definition lists"
instead of bullets in some places.)

Further modifications will be done via a separate patch.

  - rST and related infra changes: manual page generation, Makefile
fixes, clean up references to qemu-cpu-models.texi, update year in
    the copyright notice, etc.

[1] https://git.qemu.org/?p=qemu.git;a=commit;h=2544e9e4aa

As part of the conversion, we use a more generic 'author' attribution
for the manpage than we previously had, as agreed with the original
author Dan Berrange.
