1403f36447 timer/aspeed: fix timer enablement when a reload is not set
When a timer is enabled before a reload value is set, the controller
waits for a reload value to be set before starting decrementing. This
fix tries to cover that case by changing the timer expiry only when
a reload value is valid.

369b41359a mc146818rtc: precisely count the clock for periodic timer
There are two issues in current code:
1) If the period is changed by re-configuring RegA, the coalesced
   irq will be scaled to reflect the new period, however, it
   calculates the new interrupt number like this:
    s->irq_coalesced = (s->irq_coalesced * s->period) / period;

   There are some clocks will be lost if they are not enough to
   be squeezed to a single new period that will cause the VM clock
   slower

   In order to fix the issue, we calculate the interrupt window
   based on the precise clock rather than period, then the clocks
   lost during period is scaled can be compensated properly

2) If periodic_timer_update() is called due to RegA reconfiguration,
   i.e, the period is updated, current time is not the start point
   for the next periodic timer, instead, which should start from the
   last interrupt, otherwise, the clock in VM will become slow

   This patch takes the clocks from last interrupt to current clock
   into account and compensates the clocks for the next interrupt,
   especially if a complete interrupt was lost in this window, the
   time can be caught up by LOST_TICK_POLICY_SLEW

cf83f14005 shutdown: Add source information to SHUTDOWN and RESET
Time to wire up all the call sites that request a shutdown or
reset to use the enum added in the previous patch.

It would have been less churn to keep the common case with no
arguments as meaning guest-triggered, and only modified the
host-triggered code paths, via a wrapper function, but then we'd
still have to audit that I didn't miss any host-triggered spots;
changing the signature forces us to double-check that I correctly
categorized all callers.

Since command line options can change whether a guest reset request
causes an actual reset vs. a shutdown, it's easy to also add the
information to reset requests.

e4f4fb1eca sysbus: Set user_creatable=false by default on TYPE_SYS_BUS_DEVICE
commit 33cd52b5d7 unset
cannot_instantiate_with_device_add_yet in TYPE_SYSBUS, making all
sysbus devices appear on "-device help" and lack the "no-user"
flag in "info qdm".

To fix this, we can set user_creatable=false by default on
TYPE_SYS_BUS_DEVICE, but this requires setting
user_creatable=true explicitly on the sysbus devices that
actually work with -device.

Fortunately today we have just a few has_dynamic_sysbus=1
machines: virt, pc-q35-*, ppce500, and spapr.

virt, ppce500, and spapr have extra checks to ensure just a few
device types can be instantiated:

* virt supports only TYPE_VFIO_CALXEDA_XGMAC, TYPE_VFIO_AMD_XGBE.
* ppce500 supports only TYPE_ETSEC_COMMON.
* spapr supports only TYPE_SPAPR_PCI_HOST_BRIDGE.

This patch sets user_creatable=true explicitly on those 4 device
classes.

Now, the more complex cases:

pc-q35-*: q35 has no sysbus device whitelist yet (which is a
separate bug). We are in the process of fixing it and building a
sysbus whitelist on q35, but in the meantime we can fix the
"-device help" and "info qdm" bugs mentioned above. Also, despite
not being strictly necessary for fixing the q35 bug, reducing the
list of user_creatable=true devices will help us be more
confident when building the q35 whitelist.

xen: We also have a hack at xen_set_dynamic_sysbus(), that sets
has_dynamic_sysbus=true at runtime when using the Xen
accelerator. This hack is only used to allow xen-backend devices
to be dynamically plugged/unplugged.

This means today we can use -device with the following 22 device
types, that are the ones compiled into the qemu-system-x86_64 and
qemu-system-i386 binaries:

* allwinner-ahci
* amd-iommu
* cfi.pflash01
* esp
* fw_cfg_io
* fw_cfg_mem
* generic-sdhci
* hpet
* intel-iommu
* ioapic
* isabus-bridge
* kvmclock
* kvm-ioapic
* kvmvapic
* SUNW,fdtwo
* sysbus-ahci
* sysbus-fdc
* sysbus-ohci
* unimplemented-device
* virtio-mmio
* xen-backend
* xen-sysdev

This patch adds user_creatable=true explicitly to those devices,
temporarily, just to keep 100% compatibility with existing
behavior of q35. Subsequent patches will remove
user_creatable=true from the devices that are really not meant to
user-creatable on any machine, and remove the FIXME comment from
the ones that are really supposed to be user-creatable. This is
being done in separate patches because we still don't have an
obvious list of devices that will be whitelisted by q35, and I
would like to get each device reviewed individually.

e90f2a8c3e qdev: Replace cannot_instantiate_with_device_add_yet with !user_creatable
cannot_instantiate_with_device_add_yet was introduced by commit
efec3dd631 to replace no_user. It was
supposed to be a temporary measure.

When it was introduced, we had 54
cannot_instantiate_with_device_add_yet=true lines in the code.
Today (3 years later) this number has not shrunk: we now have
57 cannot_instantiate_with_device_add_yet=true lines. I think it
is safe to say it is not a temporary measure, and we won't see
the flag go away soon.

Instead of a long field name that misleads people to believe it
is temporary, replace it a shorter and less misleading field:
user_creatable.

Except for code comments, changes were generated using the
following Coccinelle patch:

c98c9eba88 ARM i.MX timers: fix reset handling
The i.MX timer device can be reset by writing to the SWR bit
of the CR register. This has to behave differently from hard
(power-on) reset because it does not reset all of the bits
in the CR register.

We were incorrectly implementing soft reset and hard reset
the same way, and in addition had a logic error which meant
that we were clearing the bits that soft-reset is supposed
to preserve and not touching the bits that soft-reset clears.
This was not correct behaviour for either kind of reset.

Separate out the soft reset and hard reset code paths, and
correct the handling of reset of the CR register so that it
is correct in both cases.

226fb5aaff arm_mptimer: Convert to use ptimer
Current ARM MPTimer implementation uses QEMUTimer for the actual timer,
this implementation isn't complete and mostly tries to duplicate of what
generic ptimer is already doing fine.

Conversion to ptimer brings the following benefits and fixes:
	- Simple timer pausing implementation
	- Fixes counter value preservation after stopping the timer
	- Properly handles prescaler != 0 / counter = 0 / load = 0 cases
	- Code simplification and reduction

Bump VMSD to version 3, since VMState is changed and is not compatible
with the previous implementation.

3cf294eebc MC146818 RTC: coordinate guest clock base to destination host after migration
qemu tracks guest time based on vector [base_rtc, last_update], in which
last_update stands for a monotonic tick which is actually uptime of the
host.
according to rtc implementation codes of recent releases and upstream,
after
migration, the time base vector [base_rtc, last_update] isn't updated to
coordinate with the destionation host, ie. qemu doesnt update last_update
to
uptime of the destination host.
what problem have we got because of this bug? after migration, guest time
may
jump back to several days ago, that will make some critical business
applications,
such as lotus notes, malfunction.
this patch is trying to fix the problem. first, when vmsave in progress,
we
rtc_update_time to refresh time stamp in cmos array, then during
vmrestore,
we rtc_set_time to update qemu base_rtc and last_update variable according
to time
stamp in cmos array.

405140519f hw/mips: implement GIC Interval Timer
The interval timer is similar to the CP0 Count/Compare timer within
each processor. The difference is the GIC_SH_COUNTER register is global
to the system so that all processors have the same time reference.

To ease implementation, all VPs are having its own QEMU timer but sharing
global settings and registers such as GIC_SH_CONFIG.COUTNSTOP and
GIC_SH_COUNTER.

MIPS GIC Interval Timer does support upto 64 bits of Count register but
in this implementation it is limited to 32 bits only.

66542f6399 i.MX: split the GPT timer implementation into per SOC definitions
In various Freescale SOCs, the GPT timers can be configured to select
its input clock.

Depending on the SOC the set of available input clocks may vary.

The actual single GPT definition was no good enough and because of it
booting the sabrelite board with a i.MX6DL device tree would fail
because of an incorrect input clock definition for the i.MX6DL SOC.

This patch fixes the i.MX6DL boot failure by adding the ability to
define a different set of input clocks depending on the considered SOC.

A different class has been defined for i.MX25, i.MX31 and i.MX6 each with
its specific set of input clocks.

The patch has been tested by booting KZM, i.MX25 PDK, i.MX6Q sabrelite
and i.MX6DL sabrelite.

9be385980d coccinelle: Remove unnecessary variables for function return value
Use Coccinelle script to replace 'ret = E; return ret' with
'return E'. The script will do the substitution only when the
function return type and variable type are the same.

Manual fixups:

* block/qcow2-cluster.c: wrap line to make it shorter
* block/qcow2-refcount.c: change indentation of wrapped line
* target-tricore/op_helper.c: fix coding style of

* target-mips/dsp_helper.c: reverted changes because I don't

73bcb24d93 Replaced get_tick_per_sec() by NANOSECONDS_PER_SECOND
This patch replaces get_ticks_per_sec() calls with the macro
NANOSECONDS_PER_SECOND. Also, as there are no callers, get_ticks_per_sec()
is then removed. This replacement improves the readability and
understandability of code.

For example,

    timer_mod(fdctrl->result_timer,
	      qemu_clock_get_ns(QEMU_CLOCK_VIRTUAL) + (get_ticks_per_sec() / 50));

NANOSECONDS_PER_SECOND makes it obvious that qemu_clock_get_ns
matches the unit of the expression on the right side of the plus.

da34e65cb4 include/qemu/osdep.h: Don't include qapi/error.h
Commit 57cb38b included qapi/error.h into qemu/osdep.h to get the
Error typedef. Since then, we've moved to include qemu/osdep.h
everywhere. Its file comment explains: "To avoid getting into
possible circular include dependencies, this file should not include
any other QEMU headers, with the exceptions of config-host.h,
compiler.h, os-posix.h and os-win32.h, all of which are doing a
similar job to this file and are under similar constraints."
qapi/error.h doesn't do a similar job, and it doesn't adhere to
similar constraints: it includes qapi-types.h. That's in excess of
100KiB of crap most .c files don't actually need.

Add the typedef to qemu/typedefs.h, and include that instead of
qapi/error.h. Include qapi/error.h in .c files that need it and don't
get it now. Include qapi-types.h in qom/object.h for uint16List.

Update scripts/clean-includes accordingly. Update it further to match
reality: replace config.h by config-target.h, add sysemu/os-posix.h,
sysemu/os-win32.h. Update the list of includes in the qemu/osdep.h
comment quoted above similarly.

This reduces the number of objects depending on qapi/error.h from "all
of them" to less than a third. Unfortunately, the number depending on
qapi-types.h shrinks only a little. More work is needed for that one.

d17008bc29 hw/timer/hpet.c: Avoid signed integer overflow which results in bugs on OSX
Signed integer overflow in C is undefined behaviour, and the compiler
is at liberty to assume it can never happen and optimize accordingly.
In particular, the subtractions in hpet_time_after() and hpet_time_after64()
were causing OSX clang to optimize the code such that it was prone to
hangs and complaints about the main loop stalling (presumably because
we were spending all our time trying to service very high frequency
HPET timer callbacks). The clang sanitizer confirms the UB:

hw/timer/hpet.c:119:26: runtime error: signed integer overflow: -2146967296 - 2147003978 cannot be represented in type 'int'

Fix this by doing the subtraction as an unsigned operation and then
converting to signed for the comparison.

g_new(T, n) is neater than g_malloc(sizeof(T) * n).  It's also safer,

Two, it returns T * rather than void *, which lets the compiler catch

13566fe3e5 timer: rename NSEC_PER_SEC due to Mac OS X header clash
Commit e0cf11f31c ("timer: Use a single
definition of NSEC_PER_SEC for the whole codebase") renamed
NANOSECONDS_PER_SECOND to NSEC_PER_SEC.

On Mac OS X there is a <dispatch/time.h> system header which also
defines NSEC_PER_SEC. This causes compiler warnings.

Let's use the old name instead. It's longer but it doesn't clash.

ae46e23964 mc146818rtc: Reset the periodic timer on load
When loading a VM from a snapshot or migration, clock changes can cause
the periodic timer to stall or loop rapidly.

qemu-timer has a reset notifier mechanism that is used to avoid timer
stalls or loops if the host clock changes while the VM is running when
using QEMU_CLOCK_HOST. However, when loading a snapshot or migration,
qemu-timer is initialized and fires the reset notifier before
mc146818rtc is initialized and has registered its reset handler. In
addition, this mechanism isn't used when using QEMU_CLOCK_REALTIME,
which might also change when loading a snapshot or migration.

To correct that problem, this commit resets the periodic timer after
loading from a snapshot or migration if the clock has either jumped
backward or has jumped forward by more than the clock jump limit that
is used by the reset notifier code in qemu-timer.

8e099d14f5 Generalize QOM publishing of date and time from mc146818rtc.c
The mc146818rtc driver exposes the current RTC date and time via the "date"
property in QOM (which is also aliased to the machine's "rtc-time"
property). Currently it uses a custom visitor function rtc_get_date to
do this.

This patch introduces new helpers to the QOM core to expose struct tm
valued properties via a getter function, so that this functionality can be
more easily duplicated in other RTC implementations.

297a3646c2 qapi: Replace uncommon use of the error API by the common one
We commonly use the error API like this:

    err = NULL;
    foo(..., &err);
    if (err) {
        goto out;
    }
    bar(..., &err);

Every error source is checked separately. The second function is only
called when the first one succeeds. Both functions are free to pass
their argument to error_set(). Because error_set() asserts no error
has been set, this effectively means they must not be called with an
error set.

The qapi-generated code uses the error API differently:

    // *errp was initialized to NULL somewhere up the call chain
    frob(..., errp);
    gnat(..., errp);

Errors accumulate in *errp: first error wins, subsequent errors get
dropped. To make this work, the second function does nothing when
called with an error set. Requires non-null errp, or else the second
function can't see the first one fail.

This usage has also bled into visitor tests, and two device model
object property getters rtc_get_date() and balloon_stats_get_all().

With the "accumulate" technique, you need fewer error checks in
callers, and buy that with an error check in every callee. Can be
nice.

However, mixing the two techniques is confusing. You can't use the
"accumulate" technique with functions designed for the "check
separately" technique. You can use the "check separately" technique
with functions designed for the "accumulate" technique, but then
error_set() can't catch you setting an error more than once.

Standardize on the "check separately" technique for now, because it's
overwhelmingly prevalent.

35d08458a9 savevm: Remove all the unneeded version_minimum_id_old (rest)
After previous Peter patch, they are redundant. This way we don't
assign them except when needed. Once there, there were lots of case
where the ".fields" indentation was wrong:

     .fields = (VMStateField []) {
and
     .fields =      (VMStateField []) {

Change all the combinations to:

     .fields = (VMStateField[]){

The biggest problem (appart from aesthetics) was that checkpatch complained
when we copy&pasted the code from one place to another.

7dfba6dfbf xilinx_timer: Fix writes into TCSR register
The TCSR register has only 11 valid bits. This is now used by the
linux kernel to auto-detect endianness, and causes Linux 3.15-rc1
and later to hang when run under qemu-microblaze. Mask valid bits
before writing the register to solve the problem.
