2df2041036 ui: remove bogus call to reset_keys() in vnc_init_state
The vnc_init_state method calls reset_keys() to reset the
modifier key state. This was originally added in

  commit 53762ddb27
  Author: malc <malc@c046a42c-6fe2-441c-8c8c-71466251a162>
  Date:   Mon Dec 1 20:57:52 2008 +0000

    Reset the key modifiers upon client connect

This was valid at this time because there was only the
single VncState object which was persistent across client
connections and so needed resetting.

The persistent data was later split off into VncDisplay
and VncState was allocated at time of client connection:

  commit 753b405331
  Author: aliguori <aliguori@c046a42c-6fe2-441c-8c8c-71466251a162>
  Date:   Mon Feb 16 14:59:30 2009 +0000

    Support multiple VNC clients (Brian Kress)

at which point the modifier state is always 0 due to
use of g_new0. As such the reset_keys() call has been
a no-op ever since.

f54195ddf7 ui: remove bogus call to graphic_hw_update() in vnc_listen_io
Just before accepting a new client connection the vnc_listen_io
method calls graphic_hw_update(). This is bogus because there
is a call to this method already in vnc_state_init() and the
client doesn't need up2date graphics console before reaching
that.

eda24e1886 ui: refactor method for setting up VncDisplay auth types
There is a lot of repeated code in the auth type setup method,
particularly around checking TLS credential types. Refactor
it to reduce duplication and instead of having one method
do both plain and websockets at once, call it separately
for each.

12b2806761 ui: remove 'enabled' and 'ws_enabled' fields from VncState
The 'ws_enabled' field is never used outside of the
vnc_display_open method, so can be a local variable.

The 'enabled' field is easily replaced by a check
for whether 'lsock' is non-NULL.

When enabling the sanitizer build it will complain about control
reaching a non-void function. Normally the compiler should detect that

4423184376 spice/gl: render DisplaySurface via opengl
This switches over spice (in opengl mode) to render DisplaySurface
updates into a opengl texture, using the helper functions in
ui/console-gl.c. With this patch applied spice (with gl=on) will
stop using qxl rendering ops, it will use dma-buf passing all the
time, i.e. for bios/bootloader (before virtio-gpu driver is loaded)
too.

This should improve performance even using spice (with gl=on) with
non-accelerated stdvga because we stop squeezing all display updates
through a unix/tcp socket and basically using a shared memory transport
instead.

virtio-gpu does a set-scanout at each frame (it might be a driver

b69a553b4a ui: fix refresh of VNC server surface
In previous commit

  commit c7628bff41
  Author: Gerd Hoffmann <kraxel@redhat.com>
  Date:   Fri Oct 30 12:10:09 2015 +0100

    vnc: only alloc server surface with clients connected

the VNC server was changed so that the 'vd->server' pixman
image was only allocated when a client is connected.

Since then if a client disconnects and then reconnects to
the VNC server all they will see is a black screen until
they do something that triggers a refresh. On a graphical
desktop this is not often noticed since there's many things
going on which cause a refresh. On a plain text console it
is really obvious since nothing refreshes frequently.

The problem is that the VNC server didn't update the guest
dirty bitmap, so still believes its server image is in sync
with the guest contents.

To fix this we must explicitly mark the entire guest desktop
as dirty after re-creating the server surface. Move this
logic into vnc_update_server_surface() so it is guaranteed
to be call in all code paths that re-create the surface
instead of only in vnc_dpy_switch()

12e29b1682 vnc: ensure connection sharing/limits is always configured
The connection sharing / limits are only set in the
vnc_display_open() method and so missed when VNC is running
with '-vnc none'. This in turn prevents clients being added
to the VNC server with the QMP "add_client" command.

3e7f136d8b vnc: fix crash when vnc_server_info_get has an error
The vnc_server_info_get will allocate the VncServerInfo
struct and then call vnc_init_basic_info_from_server_addr
to populate the basic fields. If this returns an error
though, the qapi_free_VncServerInfo call will then crash
because the VncServerInfo struct instance was not properly
NULL-initialized and thus contains random stack garbage.

66668d197f vnc-tight: fix regression with libxenstore
commit 095497ff added thread local storage for the color counting
palette. Unfortunately, a VncPalette is about 7kB on a x86_64 system.
This memory is reserved from the stack of every thread and it
exhausted the stack space of a libxenstore thread.

Fix this by allocating memory only for the VNC encoding thread.

In tight_encode_indexed_rect32, buf(or src)’s size is count. In for loop,

This is broken when src is incremented but i is not before while loop,
resulting in off-by-one bug in while loop.

ea69744988 ui: avoid crash if vnc client disconnects with writes pending
The vnc_client_read() function is called from the vnc_client_io()
event handler callback when there is incoming data to process.
If it detects that the client has disconnected, then it will
trigger cleanup and free'ing of the VncState client struct at
a safe time.

Unfortunately, the vnc_client_io() event handler will also call
vnc_client_write() to handle any outgoing data writes. So if
vnc_client_io() was invoked with both G_IO_IN and G_IO_OUT
events set, and the client disconnects, we may try to write to
a client which has just been freed.

Alexander Graf
0c426e4534 vnc: Add support for color map
Our current VNC code does not handle color maps (aka non-true-color) at all
and aborts if a client requests them. There are 2 major issues with this:

 1) A VNC viewer on an 8-bit X11 system may request color maps
 2) RealVNC _always_ starts requesting color maps, then moves on to full color

In order to support these 2 use cases, let's just create a fake color map
that covers exactly our normal true color 8 bit color space. That way we don't
lose anything over a client that wants true color.

Actually this is a very old patch originally submitted in 2013 by

56f289f383 ui: sdl2: Release grab before opening console window
sdl 2.0.4 currently has a bug which causes our UI shortcuts to fire
rapidly in succession:

  https://bugzilla.libsdl.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3287

It's a toss up whether ctrl+alt+f or ctrl+alt+2 will fire an
odd or even number of times, thus determining whether the action
succeeds or fails.

Opening monitor/serial windows is doubly broken, since it will often
lock the UI trying to grab the pointer:

ca58b45fbe ui/virtio-gpu: add and use qemu_create_displaysurface_pixman
Add a the new qemu_create_displaysurface_pixman function, to create
a DisplaySurface backed by an existing pixman image. In that case
there is no need to create a new pixman image pointing to the same
backing storage. We can just use the existing image directly.

This does not only simplify things a bit, but most importantly it
gets the reference counting right, so the backing storage for the
pixman image wouldn't be released underneath us.

Use new function in virtio-gpu, where using it actually fixes
use-after-free crashes.

569a93cbbe spice: Disallow use of gl + TCP port
Currently, virgl support has to go through a local unix socket, trying
to connect to a VM using -spice gl through spice://localhost:5900 will
only result in a black screen.
This commit errors out when the user tries to start a VM with both GL
support and a port/tls-port set.
This would fit better in spice-server, but currently QEMU does not call
into spice-server when parsing 'gl' on its command line, so we have to
do this check in QEMU instead.

0e066b2cc5 input-linux: switch over to -object
This patches makes input-linux use -object instead of a new command line
switch. So, instead of the switch ...

    -input-linux /dev/input/event$nr

... you must create an object this way:

    -object input-linux,id=$name,evdev=/dev/input/event$nr

Bonus is that you can hot-add and hot-remove them via monitor now.

da34e65cb4 include/qemu/osdep.h: Don't include qapi/error.h
Commit 57cb38b included qapi/error.h into qemu/osdep.h to get the
Error typedef. Since then, we've moved to include qemu/osdep.h
everywhere. Its file comment explains: "To avoid getting into
possible circular include dependencies, this file should not include
any other QEMU headers, with the exceptions of config-host.h,
compiler.h, os-posix.h and os-win32.h, all of which are doing a
similar job to this file and are under similar constraints."
qapi/error.h doesn't do a similar job, and it doesn't adhere to
similar constraints: it includes qapi-types.h. That's in excess of
100KiB of crap most .c files don't actually need.

Add the typedef to qemu/typedefs.h, and include that instead of
qapi/error.h. Include qapi/error.h in .c files that need it and don't
get it now. Include qapi-types.h in qom/object.h for uint16List.

Update scripts/clean-includes accordingly. Update it further to match
reality: replace config.h by config-target.h, add sysemu/os-posix.h,
sysemu/os-win32.h. Update the list of includes in the qemu/osdep.h
comment quoted above similarly.

This reduces the number of objects depending on qapi/error.h from "all
of them" to less than a third. Unfortunately, the number depending on
qapi-types.h shrinks only a little. More work is needed for that one.

32bafa8fdd qapi: Don't special-case simple union wrappers
Simple unions were carrying a special case that hid their 'data'
QMP member from the resulting C struct, via the hack method
QAPISchemaObjectTypeVariant.simple_union_type().  But by using
the work we started by unboxing flat union and alternate
branches, coupled with the ability to visit the members of an
implicit type, we can now expose the simple union's implicit
type in qapi-types.h:

| struct q_obj_ImageInfoSpecificQCow2_wrapper {
|     ImageInfoSpecificQCow2 *data;
| };
|
| struct q_obj_ImageInfoSpecificVmdk_wrapper {
|     ImageInfoSpecificVmdk *data;
| };
...
| struct ImageInfoSpecific {
|     ImageInfoSpecificKind type;
|     union { /* union tag is @type */
|         void *data;
|-        ImageInfoSpecificQCow2 *qcow2;
|-        ImageInfoSpecificVmdk *vmdk;
|+        q_obj_ImageInfoSpecificQCow2_wrapper qcow2;
|+        q_obj_ImageInfoSpecificVmdk_wrapper vmdk;
|     } u;
| };

Doing this removes asymmetry between QAPI's QMP side and its
C side (both sides now expose 'data'), and means that the
treatment of a simple union as sugar for a flat union is now
equivalent in both languages (previously the two approaches used
a different layer of dereferencing, where the simple union could
be converted to a flat union with equivalent C layout but
different {} on the wire, or to an equivalent QMP wire form
but with different C representation). Using the implicit type
also lets us get rid of the simple_union_type() hack.

Of course, now all clients of simple unions have to adjust from
using su->u.member to using su->u.member.data; while this touches
a number of files in the tree, some earlier cleanup patches
helped minimize the change to the initialization of a temporary
variable rather than every single member access. The generated
qapi-visit.c code is also affected by the layout change:

e0d2bd5195 input: linux evdev support
This patch adds support for reading input events directly from linux
evdev devices and forward them to the guest. Unlike virtio-input-host
which simply passes on all events to the guest without looking at them
this will interpret the events and feed them into the qemu input
subsystem.

Therefore this is limited to what the qemu input subsystem and the
emulated input devices are able to handle. Also there is no support for
absolute coordinates (tablet/touchscreen). So we are talking here about
basic mouse and keyboard support.

The advantage is that it'll work without virtio-input drivers in the
guest, the events are delivered to the usual ps/2 or usb input devices
(depending on what the machine happens to have). And for keyboards
qemu is able to switch the keyboard between guest and host on hotkey.
The hotkey is hard-coded for now (both control keys), initialy the
guest owns the keyboard.

Probably most useful when assigning vga devices with vfio and using a
physical monitor instead of vnc/spice/gtk as guest display.

Usage: Add '-input-linux /dev/input/event<nr>' to the qemu command
line.  Note that udev has rules which populate /dev/input/by-{id,path}
with static names, which might be more convinient to use.

b5a1b44318 ui: Shorten references into InputEvent
An upcoming patch will alter how simple unions, like InputEvent, are
laid out, which will impact all lines of the form 'evt->u.XXX'
(expanding it to the longer 'evt->u.XXX.data'). For better
legibility in that patch, and less need for line wrapping, it's better
to use a temporary variable to reduce the effect of a layout change to
just the variable initializations, rather than every reference within
an InputEvent.

There was one instance in hid.c:hid_pointer_event() where the code
was referring to evt->u.rel inside the case label where evt->u.abs
is the correct name; thankfully, both members of the union have the
same type, so it happened to work, but it is now cleaner.

b82fc321bf Postcopy+spice: Pass spice migration data earlier
Spice hooks the migration status changes to figure out when to
transmit information to the new spice server; but the migration
status in postcopy doesn't quite fit - the destination starts
running before the end of the source migration.

It's not a case of hanging off the migration status change to
postcopy-active either, since that happens before we stop the
guest CPU.

Fix it by sending a notify just after sending the device state,
and adding a flag that can be tested by the notify receiver.

Symptom:
   spice handover doesn't work with the error:

474114b730 spice: add opengl/virgl/dmabuf support
This adds support for dma-buf passing to spice. This makes virtio-gpu
with 3d acceleration work with spice.

Workflow:
 * virglrenderer renders the guest command stream into a texture.
 * qemu exports the texture as dma-buf and passes on that dma-buf
   to spice-server.
 * spice-server passes the dma-buf to spice-client, using unix
   socket file descriptor passing.
 * spice-client asks the window systems composer to render the
   dma-buf to the screen.

Requires cutting edge spice (server) and spice-gtk (client) builds,
from git master branch.

Also requires libvirt managing your qemu instance, and using
"virt-viewer --attach $guest". libvirt will connect spice-server and
spice-client using unix sockets instead of tcp sockets then, which
is required for file descriptor passing.

Works for the local case (spice server and client on the same machine)
only. Supporting remote too is planned (by feeding the dma-bufs into
gpu-assisted video encoder), but not there yet.

gl mode is turned off by default, use "-spice gl=on,$otherargs" to
enable it.

3f0230e926 vnc: distiguish between ipv4/ipv6 omitted vs set to off
The VNC code for interpreting QemuOpts does not currently
distinguish between ipv4/ipv6 being omitted, and being
set to 'off', because historically the 'ipv4' and 'ipv6'
options were just flags which did not accept a value.

The upshot is that if someone runs

  $QEMU -vnc localhost:1,ipv6=off

QEMU still uses PF_UNSPEC and thus may still bind to IPv6,
when it should use PF_INET.

06bb88145c Fix corner-case when using VNC+SASL+SPICE
Similarly to the commit 764eb39d1b fixing VNC+SASL+QXL, when starting
QEMU with SPICE but no SASL, and at the same time VNC with SASL, then
spice_server_init() will get called without a previous call to
spice_server_set_sasl_appname(), which will cause cyrus-sasl to
try to use /etc/sasl2/spice.conf (spice-server uses "spice" as its
default appname) rather than the expected /etc/sasl2/qemu.conf.

This commit unconditionally calls spice_server_set_sasl_appname()
before calling spice_server_init() in order to use the correct appname
even if SPICE without SASL was requested on qemu command line.

d0d7708ba2 qemu-char: add logfile facility to all chardev backends
Typically a UNIX guest OS will log boot messages to a serial
port in addition to any graphical console. An admin user
may also wish to use the serial port for an interactive
console. A virtualization management system may wish to
collect system boot messages by logging the serial port,
but also wish to allow admins interactive access.

Currently providing such a feature forces the mgmt app
to either provide 2 separate serial ports, one for
logging boot messages and one for interactive console
login, or to proxy all output via a separate service
that can multiplex the two needs onto one serial port.
While both are valid approaches, they each have their
own downsides. The former causes confusion and extra
setup work for VM admins creating disk images. The latter
places an extra burden to re-implement much of the QEMU
chardev backends logic in libvirt or even higher level
mgmt apps and adds extra hops in the data transfer path.

A simpler approach that is satisfactory for many use
cases is to allow the QEMU chardev backends to have a
"logfile" property associated with them.

 $QEMU -chardev socket,host=localhost,port=9000,\
                server=on,nowait,id-charserial0,\
		logfile=/var/log/libvirt/qemu/test-serial0.log
       -device isa-serial,chardev=charserial0,id=serial0

This patch introduces a 'ChardevCommon' struct which
is setup as a base for all the ChardevBackend types.
Ideally this would be registered directly as a base
against ChardevBackend, rather than each type, but
the QAPI generator doesn't allow that since the
ChardevBackend is a non-discriminated union. The
ChardevCommon struct provides the optional 'logfile'
parameter, as well as 'logappend' which controls
whether QEMU truncates or appends (default truncate).

4083733db5 ui/curses: Fix color attribute of monitor for curses
Current text_console_update() writes totally broken color attributes
to console_write_ch(). The format now is writing,

[WRONG]
	bold << 21 | fg << 12 | bg << 8 | char
	fg == 3bits curses color number
	bg == 3bits curses color number

I can't see this format is where come from. Anyway, this doesn't work
at all.

What curses expects is actually (and vga.c is using),

[RIGHT]
	bold << 21 | bg << 11 | fg << 8 | char
	fg == 3bits vga color number
	bg == 3bits vga color number

And curses set COLOR_PAIR() up to match this format, and curses's
chtype. I.e,

	bold | color_pair | char
	color_pair == (bg << 3 | fg)

To fix, this simply uses VGA color number everywhere except curses.c
internal. Then, convert it to above [RIGHT] format to write by
console_write_ch(). And as bonus, this reduces to expose curses define
to other parts (removes COLOR_* from console.c).

[Tested the first line is displayed as white on blue back for monitor
in curses console]

d20a580bc0 qapi: Change munging of CamelCase enum values
When munging enum values, the fact that we were passing the entire
prefix + value through camel_to_upper() meant that enum values
spelled with CamelCase could be turned into CAMEL_CASE. However,
this provides a potential collision (both OneTwo and One-Two would
munge into ONE_TWO) for enum types, when the same two names are
valid side-by-side as QAPI member names. By changing the generation
of enum constants to always be prefix + '_' + c_name(value,
False).upper(), and ensuring that there are no case collisions (in
the next patches), we no longer have to worry about names that
would be distinct as QAPI members but collide as variant tag names,
without having to think about what munging the heuristics in
camel_to_upper() will actually perform on an enum value.

Making the change will affect enums that did not follow coding
conventions, using 'CamelCase' rather than desired 'lower-case'.

Thankfully, there are only two culprits: InputButton and ErrorClass.
We already tweaked ErrorClass to make it an alias of QapiErrorClass,
where only the alias needs changing rather than the whole tree. So
the bulk of this change is modifying INPUT_BUTTON_WHEEL_UP to the
new INPUT_BUTTON_WHEELUP (and likewise for WHEELDOWN). That part
of this commit may later need reverting if we rename the enum
constants from 'WheelUp' to 'wheel-up' as part of moving
x-input-send-event to a stable interface; but at least we have
documentation bread crumbs in place to remind us (commit 513e7cd),
and it matches the fact that SDL constants are also spelled
SDL_BUTTON_WHEELUP.

7fb1cf1606 qapi: Don't let implicit enum MAX member collide
Now that we guarantee the user doesn't have any enum values
beginning with a single underscore, we can use that for our
own purposes. Renaming ENUM_MAX to ENUM__MAX makes it obvious
that the sentinel is generated.

This patch was mostly generated by applying a temporary patch:

|diff --git a/scripts/qapi.py b/scripts/qapi.py
|index e6d014b..b862ec9 100644
|--- a/scripts/qapi.py
|+++ b/scripts/qapi.py

|     max_index = c_enum_const(name, 'MAX', prefix)
|     ret += mcgen('''
|     [%(max_index)s] = NULL,
|+// %(max_index)s
| };
| ''',
|                max_index=max_index)

then running:

$ cat qapi-{types,event}.c tests/test-qapi-types.c |
    sed -n 's,^// \(.*\)MAX,s|\1MAX|\1_MAX|g,p' > list
$ git grep -l _MAX | xargs sed -i -f list

The only things not generated are the changes in scripts/qapi.py.

Rejecting enum members named 'MAX' is now useless, and will be dropped
in the next patch.

39ff43d9e1 blockdev: read-only-mode for blockdev-change-medium
Add an option to qmp_blockdev_change_medium() which allows changing the
read-only status of the block device whose medium is changed.

Some drives do not have a inherently fixed read-only status; for
instance, floppy disks can be set read-only or writable independently of
the drive. Some users may find it useful to be able to therefore change
the read-only status of a block device when changing the medium.

fedf0d35aa ui: Use g_new() & friends where that makes obvious sense
g_new(T, n) is neater than g_malloc(sizeof(T) * n).  It's also safer,
for two reasons. One, it catches multiplication overflowing size_t.
Two, it returns T * rather than void *, which lets the compiler catch
more type errors.

This commit only touches allocations with size arguments of the form
sizeof(T). Same Coccinelle semantic patch as in commit b45c03f.
