a13ccc991a ui/spice-display: use uintptr_t when casting qxl physical addresses
The current intptr_t casts are a problem when the address's highest
bit is 1, and it is cast to a intptr_t and then to uint64_t, such
as at:
     surface.mem        = (intptr_t)ssd->buf;

This causes the sign bit to be extended which causes a wrong address to
be passed on to spice, which then complains when it gets the wrong
slot_id number, since the slot_id is taken from the higher bits.

The assertion happens early - during the first primary surface creation.

This fixes running "-vga qxl -spice" with 32 bit compiled
qemu-system-i386.

ad1be89948 spice: fix broken initialization
Commit 1b71f7c14f moved MODULE_INIT_QOM to
way before MODULE_INIT_MACHINE, thereby breaking assumptions made in
spice-core.c which registered both a type initializer and a machine

This fix removes the type registration, and replaces it with calling
qemu_spice_init in vl.c after command line parsing (second pass) is
done, and after timers are armed, required by spice server.

ee032ca146 vnc: Fix packed boolean struct members
This patch fixes warnings reported by splint:

For variables which are packed in a single bit, a signed data type
like 'int' does not make much sense.

There is no obvious reason why the two values should be packed,
so I removed the packing and changed the data type to bool
because both are used as boolean values.

v2:

Some versions of gcc complain after this modification,

Obviously, the compiler does not like code which does

175b2a6e4b vnc: don't mess up with iohandlers in the vnc thread
The threaded VNC servers messed up with QEMU fd handlers without
any kind of locking, and that can cause some nasty race conditions.

Using qemu_mutex_lock_iothread() won't work because vnc_dpy_cpy(),
which will wait for the current job queue to finish, can be called with
the iothread lock held.

Instead, we now store the data in a temporary buffer, and use a bottom
half to notify the main thread that new data is available.

vnc_[un]lock_ouput() is still needed to access VncState members like
abort, csock or jobs_buffer.

81fb6f1504 qxl: make qxl_render_update async
RHBZ# 747011

Removes the last user of QXL_SYNC when using update drivers that use the
_ASYNC io ports.

The last user is qxl_render_update, it is called both by qxl_hw_update
which is the vga_hw_update_ptr passed to graphic_console_init, and by
qxl_hw_screen_dump.

At the same time the QXLRect area being passed to the red_worker thread
is passed as a copy, as part of the QXLCookie.

The implementation uses interface_update_area_complete with a bh to make
sure dpy_update and qxl_flip are called from the io thread, otherwise
the vga->ds->surface.data can change under our feet.

With this patch sdl+spice works fine. But spice by itself doesn't
produce the expected screendumps unless repeated a few times, due to
ppm_save being called before update_area (rendering done in spice server
thread) having a chance to complete. Fixed by next patch, but see commit
message for problem introduced by it.

1f51470d04 Revert "qemu-char: Print strerror message on failure" and deps
The commit's purpose is laudable:

The only way for chardev drivers to communicate an error was to
return a NULL pointer, which resulted in an error message that
said _that_ something went wrong, but not _why_.

It attempts to achieve it by changing the interface to return 0/-errno
and update qemu_chr_open_opts() to use strerror() to display a more
helpful error message. Unfortunately, it has serious flaws:

1. Backends "socket" and "udp" return bogus error codes, because
qemu_chr_open_socket() and qemu_chr_open_udp() assume that
unix_listen_opts(), unix_connect_opts(), inet_listen_opts(),
inet_connect_opts() and inet_dgram_opts() fail with errno set
appropriately. That assumption is wrong, and the commit turns
unspecific error messages into misleading error messages. For
instance:

    $ qemu-system-x86_64 -nodefaults -vnc :0 -chardev socket,id=bar,host=xxx
inet_connect: host and/or port not specified
chardev: opening backend "socket" failed: No such file or directory

ENOENT is what happens to be in my errno when the backend returns
-errno. Let's put ERANGE there just for giggles:

    $ qemu-system-x86_64 -nodefaults -vnc :0 -chardev socket,id=bar,host=xxx -drive if=none,iops=99999999999999999999
inet_connect: host and/or port not specified
chardev: opening backend "socket" failed: Numerical result out of range

Worse: when errno happens to be zero, return -errno erroneously
signals success, and qemu_chr_new_from_opts() dies dereferencing
uninitialized chr. I observe this with "-serial unix:".

2. All qemu_chr_open_opts() knows about the error is an errno error
code. That's simply not enough for a decent message. For instance,
when inet_dgram() can't resolve the parameter host, which errno code
should it use? What if it can't resolve parameter localaddr?

Clue: many backends already report errors in their open methods.
Let's revert the flawed commit along with its dependencies, and fix up
the silent error paths instead.

This reverts commit 6e1db57b2a.

f1f5f4070c Add SPICE support to add_client monitor command
With the acceptance of some new APIs to libspice-server.so it
is possible to add support for SPICE to the 'add_client'

use TLS or plain connections, the command also gains a new

For any modifier key (shift, ctrl, alt) still pressed on disconnect
inject a key-up event into the guest. The vnc client is gone, it will

Without this keys will get stuck, making the guest act in weird ways
after reconnecting. Reproducer: exit vnc client via Alt-F4, guest

8cf364898c vnc: implement shared flag handling.
VNC clients send a shared flag in the client init message. Up to now
qemu completely ignores this. This patch implements shared flag
handling. It comes with three policies: By default qemu behaves as one
would expect: Asking for a exclusive access grants exclusive access to
the client connecting. There is also a desktop sharing mode which
disallows exclusive connects (so one forgetting -shared wouldn't drop
everybody else) and a compatibility mode which mimics the traditional
(but non-conforming) qemu behavior.

2b54aa879e qapi: Convert query-vnc
There are three important remarks in relation to the non-qapi command:

 1. This commit also fixes the behavior of the 'query-vnc' and 'info vnc'
commands to return an error when qemu is built without VNC support
(ie. --disable-vnc). The non-qapi command would return the OK
response in QMP and no response in HMP

 2. The qapi version explicitly marks the fields 'host', 'family',
'service' and 'auth' as optional. Their are not documented as optional
in the non-qapi command doc, but they would not be returned if
vnc support is disabled. The qapi version maintains the same
semantics, but documents those fields correctly

 3. The 'clients' field, which is a list, is marked as optional but is
always returned. If there are no clients connected an empty list
is returned. This is not the Right Way to this in the qapi but it's
how the non-qapi command used to work

1dfb4dd993 Replace the VMSTOP macros with a proper state type
Today, when notifying a VM state change with vm_state_notify(),
we pass a VMSTOP macro as the 'reason' argument. This is not ideal
because the VMSTOP macros tell why qemu stopped and not exactly
what the current VM state is.

One example to demonstrate this problem is that vm_start() calls
vm_state_notify() with reason=0, which turns out to be VMSTOP_USER.

This commit fixes that by replacing the VMSTOP macros with a proper
state type called RunState.

1366108981 Introduce a 'client_add' monitor command accepting an open FD
Allow client connections for VNC and socket based character
devices to be passed in over the monitor using SCM_RIGHTS.

One intended usage scenario is to start QEMU with VNC on a
UNIX domain socket. An unprivileged user which cannot access
the UNIX domain socket, can then connect to QEMU's VNC server
by passing an open FD to libvirt, which passes it onto QEMU.

 { "execute": "get_fd", "arguments": { "fdname": "myclient" } }
 { "return": {} }
 { "execute": "add_client", "arguments": { "protocol": "vnc",
                                           "fdname": "myclient",
                                           "skipauth": true } }
 { "return": {} }

In this case 'protocol' can be 'vnc' or 'spice', or the name
of a character device (eg from -chardev id=XXXX)

The 'skipauth' parameter can be used to skip any configured
VNC authentication scheme, which is useful if the mgmt layer
talking to the monitor has already authenticated the client
in another way.

48b3ed0a68 spice: add SASL support
Turn on SASL support by appending "sasl" to the spice arguments, which
requires that the client use SASL to authenticate with the spice. The
exact choice of authentication method used is controlled from the
system / user's SASL configuration file for the 'qemu' service. This
is typically found in /etc/sasl2/qemu.conf. If running QEMU as an
unprivileged user, an environment variable SASL_CONF_PATH can be used
to make it search alternate locations for the service config. While
some SASL auth methods can also provide data encryption (eg GSSAPI),
it is recommended that SASL always be combined with the 'tls' and
'x509' settings to enable use of SSL and server certificates. This
ensures a data encryption preventing compromise of authentication
credentials.

It requires support from spice 0.8.1.

2caa9e9d2e vnc: tight: Fix crash after 2GB of output
fix 2Gb integer overflow in in VNC tight and zlib encodings

As found by Roland Dreier <roland@purestorage.com> (excellent
catch!), when amount of VNC compressed data produced by zlib
and sent to client exceeds 2Gb, integer overflow occurs because
currently, we calculate amount of data produced at each step by
comparing saved total_out with new total_out, and total_out is
something which grows without bounds. Compare it with previous
avail_out instead of total_out, and leave total_out alone.

The same code is used in vnc-enc-tight.c and vnc-enc-zlib.c,
so fix both cases.

There, there's no actual need to save previous_out value, since
capacity-offset (which is how that value is calculated) stays
the same so it can be recalculated again after call to deflate(),
but whole thing becomes less readable this way.

d6e58090fe severe memory leak caused by broken palette_destroy() function

http://git.kernel.org/?p=virt/kvm/qemu-kvm.git;a=commit;h=e31e3694afef58ba191cbcc6875ec243e5971268

23bfe28fff vnc: Fix stack corruption and other bitmap related bugs
Commit bc2429b917 introduced
a severe bug (stack corruption).

bitmap_clear was called with a wrong argument
which caused out-of-bound writes to the local variable width_mask.

This bug was detected with QEMU running on windows.
It also occurs with wine:

*** stack smashing detected ***: terminated
wine: Unhandled illegal instruction at address 0x6115c7 (thread 0009), starting debugger...

The bug is not windows specific!

Instead of fixing the wrong parameter value, bitmap_clear(), bitmap_set
and width_mask were removed, and bitmap_intersect() was replaced by
!bitmap_empty(). The new operation is much shorter and equivalent to
the old operations.

The declarations of the dirty bitmaps in vnc.h were also wrong for 64 bit
hosts because of a rounding effect: for these hosts, VNC_MAX_WIDTH is no
longer a multiple of (16 * BITS_PER_LONG), so the rounded value of
VNC_DIRTY_WORDS was too small.

Fix both declarations by using the macro which is designed for this
purpose.

A similar patch without handling of old SDL versions was already

1cd20f8bf0 vnc: Fix password expiration through 'change vnc ""' (v2)
commit 52c18be9e9 introduced a regression in the
change vnc password command that changed the behavior of setting the VNC
password to an empty string from disabling login to disabling authentication.

This commit refactors the code to eliminate this overloaded semantics in
vnc_display_password and instead introduces the vnc_display_disable_login. The
monitor implementation then determines the behavior of an empty or missing
string.

Recently, a set_password command was added that allows both the Spice and VNC
password to be set. This command has not shown up in a release yet so the
behavior is not yet defined.

This patch proposes that an empty password be treated as an empty password with
no special handling. For specifically disabling login, I believe a new command
should be introduced instead of overloading semantics.

I'm not sure how Spice handles this but I would recommend that we have Spice
and VNC have consistent semantics here for the 0.14.0 release.

9892088b52 vnc: fix numlock+capslock tracking
This patch makes the numlock+capslock tracking logic only look at
keydown events. Without this patch the vnc server will insert
bogous capslock keypress in case it sees the following key sequence:

  shift down --- 'A' down --- shift up --- 'A' up
                                         ^ here

bd023f953e vnc: threaded VNC server
Implement a threaded VNC server using the producer-consumer model.
The main thread will push encoding jobs (a list a rectangles to update)
in a queue, and the VNC worker thread will consume that queue and send
framebuffer updates to the output buffer.

The threaded VNC server can be enabled with ./configure --enable-vnc-thread.

If you don't want it, just use ./configure --disable-vnc-thread and a syncrhonous
queue of job will be used (which as exactly the same behavior as the old queue).
