f84548dda4 pc: acpi: memhp: drop not needed stringify(MEMORY_foo) usage
most of MEMORY_foo defines are not shared
with ASL anymore and are used only inside of
memory_hotplug_acpi_table.c, so move them
there and make them strings. As result we
can replace stringify(MEMORY_foo) with just
MEMORY_foo, which makes code a bit cleaner.

No AML change introduced by this patch.

f070efa8d9 hw/i386: fill in the CENTURY field of the FADT (FACP) ACPI table
The ACPI specification (minimally versions 1.0b through 6.0) define the
FADT.CENTURY field as:

  The RTC CMOS RAM index to the century of data value (hundred and
  thousand year decimals). If this field contains a zero, then the RTC
  centenary feature is not supported. If this field has a non-zero value,
  then this field contains an index into RTC RAM space that OSPM can use
  to program the centenary field.

The x86 targets generate ACPI payload, emulate an RTC
(CONFIG_MC146818RTC), and that RTC supports the "centenary feature" (see
occurrences of RTC_CENTURY in cmos_ioport_write() and cmos_ioport_read()
in "hw/timer/mc146818rtc.c".)

However, FADT.CENTURY is left at zero currently:

  [06Ch 0108   1]            RTC Century Index : 00

which -- according to analysis done by Ruiyu Ni at Intel -- should cause
Linux and Windows 8+ to think the RTC centenary feature is unavailable,
and cause Windows 7 to (incorrectly) assume that the offset to use is
constant 0x32. (0x32 happens to be the right value on QEMU, but Windows 7
is wrong to assume anything at all).

Exposing the right nonzero offset in FADT.CENTURY informs Linux and
Windows 8+ about the right capabilities of the hardware, plus it retrofits
our FADT to Windows 7's behavior.

Regression tested with the following guests (all UEFI installs):
- i386 Q35: Fedora 21 ("Fedlet" edition)
- x86_64:
  - i440fx:
    - Fedora 21
    - RHEL 6 and 7
    - Windows 7 and 10
    - Windows Server 2008 R2 and 2012 R2
  - Q35:
    - Fedora 22
    - Windows 8.1

87252e1b61 nvdimm acpi: build ACPI NFIT table
NFIT is defined in ACPI 6.0: 5.2.25 NVDIMM Firmware Interface Table (NFIT)

Currently, we only support PMEM mode. Each device has 3 structures:
- SPA structure, defines the PMEM region info

- MEM DEV structure, it has the @handle which is used to associate specified
  ACPI NVDIMM device we will introduce in later patch.
  Also we can happily ignored the memory device's interleave, the real
  nvdimm hardware access is hidden behind host

- DCR structure, it defines vendor ID used to associate specified vendor
  nvdimm driver. Since we only implement PMEM mode this time, Command
  window and Data window are not needed

The NVDIMM functionality is controlled by the parameter, 'nvdimm', which
is introduced for the machine, there is a example to enable it:
-machine pc,nvdimm -m 8G,maxmem=100G,slots=100  -object \
memory-backend-file,id=mem1,share,mem-path=/tmp/nvdimm1,size=10G -device \
nvdimm,memdev=mem1,id=nv1

It is disabled on default

3f8752b4e5 fw_cfg: remove offset argument from callback prototype
Read callbacks are now only invoked at item selection, before any
data is read. As such, the value of the offset argument passed to
the callback will always be 0. Also, the two callback instances
currently in use both leave their offset argument unused.

This patch removes the offset argument from the fw_cfg read callback
prototype, and from the currently available instances. The unused
(write) callback prototype is also removed (write support was removed
earlier, in commit 023e3148).

4ebc736e99 i386/acpi-build: fix PXB workarounds for unsupported BIOSes
The patch

  apci: fix PXB behaviour if used with unsupported BIOS

uses the following condition to see if a "PXB mem/IO chunk" has *not* been
configured by the BIOS:

  (!range_base || range_base > range_limit)

When this condition evaluates to true, said patch *omits* the
corresponding entry from the _CRS.

Later on the patch checks for the opposite condition (with the intent of
*adding* entries to the _CRS if the "PXB mem/IO chunks" *have* been
configured). Unfortunately, the condition was negated incorrectly: only
the first ! operator was removed, which led to the nonsensical expression

  (range_base || range_base > range_limit)

leading to bogus entries in the _CRS, and causing BSOD in Windows Server
2012 R2 when it runs on OVMF.

The correct negative of the condition seen at the top is

  (range_base && range_base <= range_limit)

Fix the expressions.

c96d9286a6 i386/acpi-build: more traditional _UID and _HID for PXB root buses
The ACPI specification permits the _HID and _UID objects to evaluate to
strings. (See "6.1.5 _HID (Hardware ID)" and "6.1.12 _UID (Unique ID)" in
the ACPI v6.0 spec.)

With regard to related standards, the UEFI specification can also express
a device address composed from string _HID and _UID identifiers, inside
the Expanded ACPI Device Path Node. (See "9.3.3 ACPI Device Path", Table
49, in the UEFI v2.5 spec.)

However, numeric (integer) contents for both _HID and _UID are more
traditional. They are recommended by the UEFI spec for size reasons:

  [...] the ACPI Device Path node is smaller and should be used if
  possible to reduce the size of device paths that may potentially be
  stored in nonvolatile storage [...]

External tools support them better (for example the --acpi_hid and
--acpi_uid options of "efibootmgr" only take numeric identifiers).
Finally, numeric _HID and _UID contents are existing practice in the QEMU
source.

This patch was tested with a Fedora 20 LiveCD and a preexistent Windows
Server 2012 R2 guest. Using "acpidump" and "iasl" in the Fedora guest, we
get, in the SSDT:

> Scope (\_SB)
> {
>   Device (PC04)
>   {
> Name (_UID, 0x04) // _UID: Unique ID
> Name (_HID, EisaId ("PNP0A03") /* PCI Bus */) // _HID: Hardware ID

0f6dd8e1d5 apci: fix PXB behaviour if used with unsupported BIOS
PXB does not work with unsupported bioses, but should
not interfere with normal OS operation.
We don't ship them anymore, but it's reasonable
to keep the work-around until we update the bios in qemu.

Fix this by not adding PXB mem/IO chunks to _CRS
if they weren't configured by BIOS.

2332333c97 pc: acpi: fix pvpanic for buggy guests
In the old times, we always had pvpanic in ACPI and a _STA method told
the guest not to use it. Automatic generation dropped the _STA method
as the specification says that missing _STA means enabled and working.
Some guests (Linux) had buggy drivers and this change made them unable
to utilize pvpanic.

A Linux patch is posted as well, but I think it's worth to make pvpanic
useable on old guests at the price of three lines and few bytes of SSDT.

The old _STA method was
  Method (_STA, 0, NotSerialized) {
      Store (PEST, Local0)
      If (LEqual (Local0, Zero)) {
          Return (Zero) }
      Else {
          Return (0x0F) }}

Igor pointed out that we don't need to use a method to return a constant
and that 0xB (don't show in UI) is the common definition now.

Also, the device used to be PEVT. (PEVT as in "panic event"?)

impl. detail:
Windows XP can't handle /BSODs/ OperationRegion
declaration in DSDT when variable from SSDT is used
for specifying its address/length and also when
Field declared in DSDT with OperationRegion from
SSDT if DSDT is being parsed before SSDT.
But it works just fine when referencing named
fields from another table. Hence OperationRegion
and Field declaration are moved to SSDT to make
XP based editions work.

42d859001d acpi-build: fix ACPI RAM management
This fixes multiple issues around ACPI RAM management:

RSDP and linker RAM aren't currently marked dirty
on update, so they won't be migrated correctly.

Let's handle all tables in the same way: set correct size (assert if
too big), update, mark RAM dirty.

This also drops assert checking that table size didn't change: table
size is fundamentally dynamic and depends on hw configuration,
just set the correct size and use that (memory core asserts if size is
too large).

This also means we can drop tracking table size, memory core does this
for us now.

Fixes migration regression from QEMU-1.7 to a newer QEMUs.
SSDT table size in QEMU-1.7 doesn't change regardless of
a number of PCI bridge devices present at startup.

However in QEMU-2.0 since addition of hotplug on PCI bridges,
each PCI bridge adds ~1875 bytes to SSDT table, including
pc-i440fx-1.7 machine type where PCI bridge hotplug disabled
via compat property.
It breaks migration from "QEMU-1.7" to "QEMU-2.[01] -M pc-i440fx-1.7"
since RAMBlock size of ACPI tables on target becomes larger
then on source and migration fails with:

"Length mismatch: /rom@etc/acpi/tables: 2000 in != 3000"

error.

Fix this by generating AML only for PCI0 bus if
hotplug on PCI bridges is disabled and preserves PCI brigde
description in AML as it was done in QEMU-1.7 for pc-i440fx-1.7.

It will help to maintain size of SSDT static regardless of
number of PCI bridges on startup for pc-i440fx-1.7 machine type.

07fb61760c pc: hack for migration compatibility from QEMU 2.0
Changing the ACPI table size causes migration to break, and the memory
hotplug work opened our eyes on how horribly we were breaking things in
2.0 already.

The ACPI table size is rounded to the next 4k, which one would think
gives some headroom. In practice this is not the case, because the user
can control the ACPI table size (each CPU adds 97 bytes to the SSDT and
8 to the MADT) and so some "-smp" values will break the 4k boundary and
fail to migrate. Similarly, PCI bridges add ~1870 bytes to the SSDT.

This patch concerns itself with fixing migration from QEMU 2.0. It
computes the payload size of QEMU 2.0 and always uses that one.
The previous patch shrunk the ACPI tables enough that the QEMU 2.0 size
should always be enough; non-AML tables can change depending on the
configuration (especially MADT, SRAT, HPET) but they remain the same
between QEMU 2.0 and 2.1, so we only compute our padding based on the
sizes of the SSDT and DSDT.

Migration from QEMU 1.7 should work for guests that have a number of CPUs
other than 12, 13, 14, 54, 55, 56, 97, 98, 139, 140.  It was already
broken from QEMU 1.7 to QEMU 2.0 in the same way, though.

Even with this patch, QEMU 1.7 and 2.0 have two different ideas of
"-M pc-i440fx-2.0" when there are PCI bridges. Igor sent a patch to
adopt the QEMU 1.7 definition. I think distributions should apply
it if they move directly from QEMU 1.7 to 2.1+ without ever packaging
version 2.0.

b4f4d54812 acpi: make SSDT 1.0 spec compliant when possible
The ACPI specification says:

The ASL compiler can emit two different AML opcodes for a Package
declaration, either PackageOp or VarPackageOp. For small, fixed-length
packages, the PackageOp is used and this opcode is compatible with ACPI
1.0. A VarPackageOp will be emitted if any of the following conditions
are true:
. The NumElements argument is a TermArg that can only be resolved at
runtime.
. At compile time, NumElements resolves to a constant that is larger than
255.
. The PackageList contains more than 255 initializer elements.
Note: The ability to create variable-sized packages was first introduced
in ACPI 2.0. ACPI 1.0 only allowed fixed-size packages with up to 255 elements.

So the spec seems to say a fixed value up to 255 must always
be used with PackageOp and not VarPackageOp, and some guests
(windows up to win2k8) seem to interpret it like this.

Let's do just this, choosing the encoding depending on
the number of elements.

Fixes 9bcc80cd71
(i386/acpi-build: allow more than 255 elements in CPON).

9bcc80cd71 i386/acpi-build: allow more than 255 elements in CPON
The build_ssdt() function builds a number of AML objects that are related
to CPU hotplug, and whose IDs form a contiguous sequence of APIC IDs.
(APIC IDs are in fact discontiguous, but this is the traditional
interface: build a contiguous sequence from zero up that covers all
possible APIC IDs.) These objects are:

- a Processor() object for each VCPU,
- a NTFY method, with one branch for each VCPU,
- a CPON package with one element (hotplug status byte) for each VCPU.

The build_ssdt() function currently limits the *count* of processor
objects, and NTFY branches, and CPON elements, in 0xFF (see the assignment
to "acpi_cpus"). This allows for an inclusive APIC ID range of [0..254].
This is incorrect, because the highest APIC ID that we otherwise allow a
VCPU to take is 255.

In order to extend the maximum count to 256, and the traversed APIC ID
range correspondingly to [0..255]:
- the Processor() objects need no change,
- the NTFY method also needs no change,
- the CPON package must be updated, because it is defined with a
  DefPackage, and the number of elements in such a package can be at most
  255. We pick a DefVarPackage instead.

We replace the Op byte, and the encoding of the number of elements.
Compare:

DefPackage := PackageOp PkgLength NumElements PackageElementList
DefVarPackage := VarPackageOp PkgLength VarNumElements PackageElementList

PackageOp      := 0x12
VarPackageOp   := 0x13

NumElements    := ByteData
VarNumElements := TermArg => Integer

The build_append_int() function implements precisely the following TermArg
encodings (a subset of what the ACPI spec describes):

  TermArg             := DataObject
  DataObject          := ComputationalData
  ComputationalData   := ConstObj | ByteConst | WordConst | DWordConst

  directly encoded in the function, with build_append_byte():
    ConstObj          := ZeroOp | OneOp
      ZeroOp          := 0x00
      OneOp           := 0x01

  call to build_append_value(..., 1):
    ByteConst         := BytePrefix ByteData
      BytePrefix      := 0x0A
      ByteData        := 0x00 - 0xFF

    WordConst         := WordPrefix WordData
      WordPrefix      := 0x0B

15bce1b7c5 Add DSDT node for AppleSMC
AppleSMC (-device isa-applesmc) is required to boot OS X guests.
OS X expects a SMC node to be present in the ACPI DSDT. This patch
adds a SMC node to the DSDT, and dynamically patches the return value
of SMC._STA to either 0x0B if the chip is present, or otherwise to 0x00,
before booting the guest.

53db092ad1 acpi: strip compiler info in built-in DSDT
IASL stores it's revision in each table header it generates.
That's not nice since guests will see a change each time they move
between hypervisors. We generally fill our own info for tables, but we
(and seabios) forgot to do this for the built-in DSDT.

Modifications in DSDT table:
 OEM ID: "BXPC" -> "BOCHS "
 OEM Table ID: "BXDSDT" -> "BXPCDSDT"
 Compiler ID:       "INTL" -> "BXPC"
 Compiler Version:  0x20130823 -> 0x00000001

867d898ccf acpi-build: Fix compiler warning (missing gnu_printf format attribute)
gcc 4.8.2 reports this warning when extra warnings are enabled (-Wextra):

 function might be possible candidate for ‘gnu_printf’ format attribute [-Werror=suggest-attribute=format]

     ^

When this warning is fixed, there is a new compiler warning:

This is fixed here, too.

72c194f7e7 i386: ACPI table generation code from seabios
This adds C code for generating ACPI tables at runtime,
imported from seabios git tree
    commit 51684b7ced75fb76776e8ee84833fcfb6ecf12dd

Although ACPI tables come from a system BIOS on real hw,
it makes sense that the ACPI tables are coupled with the
virtual machine, since they have to abstract the x86 machine to
the OS's.

This is widely desired as a way to avoid the churn
and proliferation of QEMU-specific interfaces
associated with ACPI tables in bios code.

Notes:
As BIOS can reprogram devices prior to loading
ACPI tables, we pre-format ACPI tables but defer loading
hardware configuration there until tables are loaded.

The code structure was intentionally kept as close
to the seabios original as possible, to simplify
comparison and making sure we didn't lose anything
in translation.

Minor code duplication results, to help ensure there are no functional
regressions, I think it's better to merge it like this and do more code
changes in follow-up patches.

Cross-version compatibility concerns have been addressed:
    ACPI tables are exposed to guest as FW_CFG entries.
    When running with -M 1.5 and older, this patch disables ACPI
    table generation, and doesn't expose ACPI
    tables to guest.

    As table content is likely to change over time,
    the following measures are taken to simplify
    cross-version migration:
    - All tables besides the RSDP are packed in a single FW CFG entry.
      This entry size is currently 23K. We round it up to 64K
      to avoid too much churn there.
    - Tables are placed in special ROM blob (not mapped into guest memory)
      which is automatically migrated together with the guest, same
      as BIOS code.
    - Offsets where hardware configuration is loaded in ACPI tables
      are also migrated, this is in case future ACPI changes make us
      rearrange the tables in memory.

This patch reuses some code from SeaBIOS, which was originally under
LGPLv2 and then relicensed to GPLv3 or LGPLv3, in QEMU under GPLv2+. This
relicensing has been acked by all contributors that had contributed to the
code since the v2->v3 relicense. ACKs approving the v2+ relicensing are
listed below. The list might include ACKs from people not holding
copyright on any parts of the reused code, but it's better to err on the
side of caution and include them.
