a310b283e3 s390x/kvm: passing max memory size to accelerator
With "KVM: s390: Allow userspace to limit guest memory size" KVM is able to
do some optimizations based on the guest memory limit.

The guest memory limit is computed by the initial definition and with the notion of
hotplugged memory.

18ff949474 s390x/kvm: implement handling of new SIGP orders
This patch adds handling code for the following SIGP orders:
- SIGP SET ARCHITECTURE
- SIGP SET PREFIX
- SIGP STOP
- SIGP STOP AND STORE STATUS
- SIGP STORE STATUS AT ADDRESS

SIGP STOP (AND STORE STATUS) are the only orders that can stay pending forever
(and may only be interrupted by resets), so special care has to be taken about
them. Their status also has to be tracked within QEMU. This patch takes
care of migrating this status (e.g. if migration happens during a SIGP STOP).

Due to the BQL, only one VCPU is currently able to execute SIGP handlers at a
time. According to the PoP, BUSY should be returned if another SIGP order is
currently being executed on a VCPU. This can only be implemented when the BQL
does not protect all handlers. For now, all SIGP orders on all VCPUs will be
serialized, which will be okay for the first shot.

Change the TSCH handler to use the new logical memory access functions.
Since the channel should not be updated in case of a protection or access
exception while writing to the guest memory, the css_do_tsch() has to be
split up into two parts, one for retrieving the IRB and one for the update.

c3edd62851 s390x/mmu: Add function for accessing guest memory
According to the POP specification, the parameter blocks of various
functions like the IO instructions are accessed with logical addresses.
Thus we need a function that can read or write a buffer from/to the
guest's logical address space.

This patch now provides a function that can be used to access virtual
guest memory by using the mmu_translate function of QEMU to convert
the virtual addresses to physical.

Program access exceptions are defined to deliver a translation exception
code in the low-core. Add a function trigger_access_exception() that
generates the proper program interrupt on both KVM and non-KVM systems
and switch the existing code to use it.

e3e09d87c6 s390x/mmu: Skip exceptions properly when translating addresses for debug
When a fault occurs during the MMU lookup in s390_cpu_get_phys_page_debug(),
the trigger_page_fault() function writes the translation exception code
into the lowcore - something you would not expect during a memory access
by the debugger. Ease this problem by adding an additional parameter to
mmu_translate() which can be used to specify whether a program check and
the translation exception code should be injected or not.

ec53b45bcd exec.c: Drop TARGET_HAS_ICE define and checks
The TARGET_HAS_ICE #define is intended to indicate whether a target-*
guest CPU implementation supports the breakpoint handling. However,
all our guest CPUs have that support (the only two which do not
define TARGET_HAS_ICE are unicore32 and openrisc, and in both those
cases the bp support is present and the lack of the #define is just
a bug). So remove the #define entirely: all new guest CPU support
should include breakpoint handling as part of the basic implementation.

This patch reuses kvm_s390_reset_vcpu() to get rid of some CONFIG_KVM and
CONFIG_USER_ONLY ifdefs in cpu.c.

In order to get rid of CONFIG_USER_ONLY, kvm_s390_reset_vcpu() has to provide a
dummy implementation - the two definitions are moved to the proper section in
cpu.h.

c9e659c9ee s390x/kvm: propagate s390 cpu state to kvm
Let QEMU propagate the cpu state to kvm. If kvm doesn't yet support it, it is
silently ignored as kvm will still handle the cpu state itself in that case.

The state is not synced back, thus kvm won't have a chance to actively modify
the cpu state. To do so, control has to be given back to QEMU (which is already
done so in all relevant cases).

Setting of the cpu state can fail either because kvm doesn't support the
interface yet, or because the state is invalid/not supported. Failed attempts
will be traced

eb24f7c689 s390x/kvm: proper use of the cpu states OPERATING and STOPPED
This patch makes sure that halting a cpu and stopping a cpu are two different
things. Stopping a cpu will also set the cpu halted - this is needed for common
infrastructure to work (note that the stop and stopped flag cannot be used for
our purpose because they are already used by other mechanisms).

A cpu can be halted ("waiting") when it is operating. If interrupts are
disabled, this is called a "disabled wait", as it can't be woken up anymore. A
stopped cpu is treated like a "disabled wait" cpu, but in order to prepare for a
proper cpu state synchronization with the kvm part, we need to track the real
logical state of a cpu.

75973bfe41 s390x/kvm: introduce proper states for s390 cpus
Until now, when a s390 cpu was stopped or halted, the number of running
CPUs was tracked in a global variable. This was problematic for migration,
so Jason came up with a per-cpu running state.
As it turns out, we want to track the full logical state of a target vcpu,
so we need real s390 cpu states.

This patch is based on an initial patch by Jason Herne, but was heavily
rewritten when adding the cpu states STOPPED and OPERATING. On the way we
move add_del_running to cpu.c (the declaration is already in cpu.h) and
modify the users where appropriate.

Please note that the cpu is still set to be stopped when it is
halted, which is wrong. This will be fixed in the next patch. The LOAD and
CHECK-STOP state will not be used in the first step.

73d510c9d3 s390x/gdb: generate target.xml and handle fp/ac as coprocessors
This patch reduces the core registers to the psw and the general purpose
registers. The fpc and ac registers are handled as coprocessors registers by gdb.
This allows to reuse the feature xml files taken from gdb without further
modification and is what other architectures do.

The target.xml is now generated and provided to the gdb client. Therefore, the
client doesn't have to guess which registers are available at which logical
register number.

85ca3371f6 s390x/kvm: run guest triggered resets on the target vcpu thread
Currently, load_normal_reset() and modified_clear_reset() as triggered
by a guest vcpu will initiate cpu resets on the current vcpu thread for
all cpus. The reset should happen on the individual vcpu thread
instead, so let's use run_on_cpu() for this.

This avoids calls to synchronize_rcu() in the kernel.

66ad0893f0 s390x/kvm: add alternative injection interface
Add kvm_s390_{vcpu,floating}_interrupt, which offer the possibility
to inject interrupts with larger payloads (when a kvm backend becomes
available).

Moreover, kvm_s390_floating_interrupt() does no longer have the bogus
requirement for a vcpu.

4cb88c3c37 s390x/kvm: enable/reset cmma via vm attributes
Exploit the new api for userspace-controlled cmma. If supported, enable
cmma during kvm initialization and register a reset handler for cmma,
which is also called directly from the load IPL code.

The reset functionality is needed to reset the cmma state of the guest
pages, e.g. if a system reset is triggered via qemu monitor; otherwise
this could result in data corruption.

A guest triggered reboot may now lead to multiple cmma resets; this is
OK, however, as this is slowpath anyway and the simplest way to achieve
the intended effects.

50a2c6e55f kvm: reset state from the CPU's reset method
Now that we have a CPU object with a reset method, it is better to
keep the KVM reset close to the CPU reset.  Using qemu_register_reset
as we do now keeps them far apart.

With this patch, PPC no longer calls the kvm_arch_ function, so
it can get removed there.  Other arches call it from their CPU
reset handler, and the function gets an ARMCPU/X86CPU/S390CPU.

Note that ARM- and s390-specific functions are called kvm_arm_*
and kvm_s390_*, while x86-specific functions are called kvm_arch_*.
That follows the convention used by the different architectures.
Changing that is the topic of a separate patch.

With the EDAT-1 facility, the MMU translation can stop at the
segment table already, pointing to a 1 MB block. And while we're
at it, move the page table entry handling to a separate function,

44c68de044 s390x/kvm: cleanup partial register handling
The partial register handling (introduced with commits
420840e58b and
3474b67948 ) aimed to improve intercept
handling performance.

It made the code more complicated though. During development for life
migration/init/reset etc it turned out that this might cause several
hard to debug programming errors. With the introduction of ioeventfd
(and future irqfd patches) the qemu intercept handlers are no longer
hot-path. And therefore the partial register handling can be
removed to simplify the code.

7f7f975295 s390: wire up nmi command to raise a RESTART interrupt on S390
There is the 'nmi' command that is used to trigger a guest dump via kdump feature on x86.
s390 uses RESTART interrupt to trigger kdump.
So, this patch provides a mean to use 'nmi' command on s390 to raise RESTART interrupt.

The CPU to receive the RESTART interrupt is the "default" one.

There is an infrastructure to select the "default" CPU using 'cpu' command.
The 'info cpus' command can be used to see which one is the "default".

In order to wire up the RESTART to 'nmi' command we had to:
1. implement the kvm_s390_cpu_restart function by exporting the existing code
2. implement s390_cpu_restart function as kvm-aware wrapper
3. modify the qmp_inject_nmi function to enable (for s390) the scan for
   "default" CPU and call s390_cpu_restart for it;
3. fix some messages.

6291ad77d7 linux-user: Move cpu_clone_regs() and cpu_set_tls() into linux-user
The functions cpu_clone_regs() and cpu_set_tls() are not purely CPU
related -- they are specific to the TLS ABI for a a particular OS.
Move them into the linux-user/ tree where they belong.

target-lm32 had entirely unused implementations, since it has no
linux-user target; just drop them.

With the next patch, the memory API will complain if the
TARGET_PHYS_ADDR_SPACE_BITS gets dangerously close to an
overflow.  s390x can handle up to 64 bit of physical address
space from its page tables, but we never use that much.  Just
decrease the value.

420840e58b Allow selective runtime register synchronization
We want to avoid expensive register synchronization IOCTL's on the hot path so
a new kvm_s390_get_registers_partial() is introduced as a compliment to
kvm_arch_get_registers().  The new function is called on the hot path, and
kvm_arch_get_registers() is called when we need the complete runtime register
state.

kvm_arch_put_registers() is updated to only sync the partial runtime set when
we've only dirtied the partial runtime set.  This is to avoid sending bad data
back to KVM if we've only partially synced the runtime register set.

determining the last subchannel.

If we fail to take this into account, removal of a subchannel in

91b0a8f334 s390: Fix handling of iscs.
There are two ways to express an interruption subclass:
- As a bitmask, as used in cr6.
- As a number, as used in the I/O interruption word.

Unfortunately, we have treated to I/O interruption word as if it
contained the bitmask as well, which went unnoticed so far as
- (queued-for-next) kvm made the same mistake, and
- Linux guest kernels don't check the isc value in the I/O interruption
  word for subchannel interrupts.

Make sure that we treat the I/O interruption word correctly.

Despite cautioning that S390CPU is needed for upcoming CPUState
refactorings, commit 5d69c547d9 (s390:
I/O interrupt and machine check injection.) added functions
cpu_inject_io() and cpu_inject_crw_mchk() with CPUS390XState argument,
claiming consistency with cpu_inject_ext().

This complicates making cpu_interrupt() take a CPUState even more and it
required to pass &cpu->env from some S390CPU-aware call sites already,
creating inconsistency elsewhere. Address that.

This also eliminates the need for CPUS390XState in s390_virtio_irq().

a158986d85 s390x: Remove inline function ebcdic_put and related data from cpu.h
The function is only used in misc_helper.c, so move it to that file.

This reduces the size of debug executables (compiled without optimization)
because they get unused code and data for each compilation which includes
cpu.h.

Executables with optimization don't change their size.

ebcdic2ascii is currently unused and could be removed (not done here).

The array ascii2ebcdic must be accessed with an unsigned index, therefore
(int)ascii[i] was replaced by (uint8_t)ascii[i]. The old code would have
failed for a signed char less than 0. The current code only converts
"QEMU" and spaces to EBCDIC, so there is no problem today.

904e5fd5c2 S390: Enable -cpu help and QMP query-cpu-definitions
This enables qemu -cpu help to return a list of supported CPU models
on s390 and also to query for cpu definitions in the monitor.
Initially only cpu model = host is returned. This needs to be reworked
into a full-fledged CPU model handling later on.
This change is needed to allow libvirt exploiters (like OpenStack)
to specify a CPU model.

Use a new "retxl" member of CPUS290XState to return the "eXtra Low" part
of a 128-bit value.  That said, this will get used when two independent
values need returning (e.g. quotient+remainder) as well.

At the same time, shuffle the elements of CPUS390XState to get this new
space from existing padding in the structure.

The real gdb protocol doesn't split out pc or cc as real registers.
Those are pseudos that are extracted as needed from the PSW.  Don't
modify env->cc_op during read -- that way lies heisenbugs.

Fill in the XXX for the fp registers.

Remove duplicated defines in cpu.h.

f6c98f9286 s390: sclp base support
This adds a more generic infrastructure for handling Service-Call
requests on s390. Currently we only support a small subset of Read
SCP Info directly in target-s390x. This patch provides the base
infrastructure for supporting more commands and moves Read SCP
Info.

a8170e5e97 Rename target_phys_addr_t to hwaddr
target_phys_addr_t is unwieldly, violates the C standard (_t suffixes are
reserved) and its purpose doesn't match the name (most target_phys_addr_t
addresses are not target specific).  Replace it with a finger-friendly,
standards conformant hwaddr.

Outstanding patchsets can be fixed up with the command

  git rebase -i --exec 'find -name "*.[ch]"
                        | xargs s/target_phys_addr_t/hwaddr/g' origin

000a1a3800 s390: provide interface for service interrupt/introduce interrupt.c
This patch creates interrupt.c. The first user is a callback for hw/*
code to trigger an service interrupt for a given sccb value. Several
interrupt types for s390 are floating (can be delivered to all CPUs).
so this code does not belong to a specific CPU.
Other interrupts (like the virtio one) are also floating and can be
moved here later on.
