When we add a new entry to the ARMCPRegInfo hash table in
add_cpreg_to_hashtable(), we allocate memory for tehe
ARMCPRegInfo struct itself, and we also g_strdup() the
name string. So the hashtable's value destructor function
must free the name string as well as the struct.
Spotted by clang's leak sanitizer. The leak here is a
small one-off leak at startup, because we don't support
CPU hotplug, and so the only time when we destroy
hash table entries is for the case where ARM_CP_OVERRIDE
means we register a wildcard entry and then override it later.

In commit 8a0fc3a29f we tried to implement HCR_EL2.{VI,VF},
but we got it wrong and had to revert it.
In that commit we implemented them as simply tracking whether there
is a pending virtual IRQ or virtual FIQ. This is not correct -- these
bits cause a software-generated VIRQ/VFIQ, which is distinct from
whether there is a hardware-generated VIRQ/VFIQ caused by the
external interrupt controller. So we need to track separately
the HCR_EL2 bit state and the external virq/vfiq line state, and
OR the two together to get the actual pending VIRQ/VFIQ state.

Currently we track the state of the four irq lines from the GIC
only via the cs->interrupt_request or KVM irq state. That means
that we assume that an interrupt is asserted if and only if the
external line is set. This assumption is incorrect for VIRQ
and VFIQ, because the HCR_EL2.{VI,VF} bits allow assertion
of VIRQ and VFIQ separately from the state of the external line.
To handle this, start tracking the state of the external lines
explicitly in a CPU state struct field, as is common practice
for devices.
The complicated part of this is dealing with inbound migration
from an older QEMU which didn't have this state. We assume in
that case that the older QEMU did not implement the HCR_EL2.{VI,VF}
bits as generating interrupts, and so the line state matches
the current state in cs->interrupt_request. (This is not quite
true between commit 8a0fc3a29f and its revert, but
that commit is broken and never made it into any released QEMU
version.)

The Cortex-M CPU and its NVIC are two intimately intertwined parts of
the same hardware; it is not possible to use one without the other.
Unfortunately a lot of our board models don't do any sanity checking
on the CPU type the user asks for, so a command line like
qemu-system-arm -M versatilepb -cpu cortex-m3
will create an M3 without an NVIC, and coredump immediately.
In the other direction, trying a non-M-profile CPU in an M-profile
board won't blow up, but doesn't do anything useful either:
qemu-system-arm -M lm3s6965evb -cpu arm926
Add some checking in the NVIC and CPU realize functions that the
user isn't trying to use an NVIC without an M-profile CPU or
an M-profile CPU without an NVIC, so we can produce a helpful
error message rather than a core dump.

set_link() does.
Furthemore, OBJ_PROP_LINK_UNREF_ON_RELEASE flags, set during add_link,

This can lead to leaks if the property was later set_link(), as the

Currently we query the host CPU features in the class init function
for the TYPE_ARM_HOST_CPU class, so that we can later copy them
from the class object into the instance object in the object
instance init function. This is awkward for implementing "-cpu max",
which should work like "-cpu host" for KVM but like "cpu with all
implemented features" for TCG.
Move the place where we store the information about the host CPU from
a class object to static variables in kvm.c, and then in the instance
init function call a new kvm_arm_set_cpu_features_from_host()
function which will query the host kernel if necessary and then
fill in the CPU instance fields.
This allows us to drop the special class struct and class init
function for TYPE_ARM_HOST_CPU entirely.
We can't delay the probe until realize, because the ARM
instance_post_init hook needs to look at the feature bits we
set, so we need to do it in the initfn. This is safe because
the probing doesn't affect the actual VM state (it creates a
separate scratch VM to do its testing), but the probe might fail.
Because we can't report errors in retrieving the host features
in the initfn, we check this belatedly in the realize function
(the intervening code will be able to cope with the relevant
fields in the CPU structure being zero).

triggers the page fault.
This size is set in the Special Status Word which
is written in the stack frame of the access fault
exception.
So we need the size in m68k_cpu_unassigned_access() and
m68k_cpu_handle_mmu_fault().
To be able to do that, this patch modifies the prototype of
handle_mmu_fault handler, tlb_fill() and probe_write().
do_unassigned_access() already includes a size parameter.
This patch also updates handle_mmu_fault handlers and
tlb_fill() of all targets (only parameter, no code change).

read back as written.
When the CPU definition for Cortex-M33 is eventually

there are 2 use cases to deal with:
1: fixed CPU models per board/soc
2: boards with user configurable cpu_model and fallback to
default cpu_model if user hasn't specified one explicitly
For the 1st
drop intermediate cpu_model parsing and use const cpu type
directly, which replaces:
typename = object_class_get_name(
cpu_class_by_name(TYPE_ARM_CPU, cpu_model))
object_new(typename)
with
object_new(FOO_CPU_TYPE_NAME)
or
cpu_generic_init(BASE_CPU_TYPE, "my cpu model")
with
cpu_create(FOO_CPU_TYPE_NAME)
as result 1st use case doesn't have to invoke not necessary
translation and not needed code is removed.
For the 2nd
1: set default cpu type with MachineClass::default_cpu_type and
2: use generic cpu_model parsing that done before machine_init()
is run and:
2.1: drop custom cpu_model parsing where pattern is:
typename = object_class_get_name(
cpu_class_by_name(TYPE_ARM_CPU, cpu_model))
[parse_features(typename, cpu_model, &err) ]
2.2: or replace cpu_generic_init() which does what
2.1 does + create_cpu(typename) with just
create_cpu(machine->cpu_type)
as result cpu_name -> cpu_type translation is done using
generic machine code one including parsing optional features
if supported/present (removes a bunch of duplicated cpu_model
parsing code) and default cpu type is defined in an uniform way
within machine_class_init callbacks instead of adhoc places
in boadr's machine_init code.

Make the CCR register banked if v8M security extensions are enabled.
This is slightly more complicated than the other "add banking"
patches because there is one bit in the register which is not
banked. We keep the live data in the NS copy of the register,
and adjust it on register reads and writes. (Since we don't
currently implement the behaviour that the bit controls, there
is nowhere else that needs to care.)
This patch includes the enforcement of the bits which are newly

As part of ARMv8M, we need to add support for the PMSAv8 MPU
architecture.
PMSAv8 differs from PMSAv7 both in register/data layout (for instance
using base and limit registers rather than base and size) and also in
behaviour (for example it does not have subregions); rather than
trying to wedge it into the existing PMSAv7 code and data structures,
we define separate ones.
This commit adds the data structures which hold the state for a
PMSAv8 MPU and the register interface to it. The implementation of
the MPU behaviour will be added in a subsequent commit.

We currently store the M profile CPU register state PRIMASK and
FAULTMASK in the daif field of the CPU state in its I and F
bits. This is a legacy from the original implementation, which
tried to share the cpu_exec_interrupt code between A profile
and M profile. We've since separated out the two cases because
they are significantly different, so now there is no common
code between M and A profile which looks at env->daif: all the
uses are either in A-only or M-only code paths. Sharing the state
fields now is just confusing, and will make things awkward
when we implement v8M, where the PRIMASK and FAULTMASK
registers are banked between security states.
Switch M profile over to using v7m.faultmask and v7m.primask
fields for these registers.

a configurable option for the hardware). Make the default value of

ARM CPUs come in two flavours:
* proper MMU ("VMSA")
* only an MPU ("PMSA")
For PMSA, the MPU may be implemented, or not (in which case there
is default "always acts the same" behaviour, but it isn't guest
programmable).
QEMU is a bit confused about how we indicate this: we have an
ARM_FEATURE_MPU, but it's not clear whether this indicates
"PMSA, not VMSA" or "PMSA and MPU present" , and sometimes we
use it for one purpose and sometimes the other.
Currently trying to implement a PMSA-without-MPU core won't
work correctly because we turn off the ARM_FEATURE_MPU bit
and then a lot of things which should still exist get
turned off too.
As the first step in cleaning this up, rename the feature
bit to ARM_FEATURE_PMSA, which indicates a PMSA CPU (with
or without MPU).

short, since bytes are swapped within words at load time for BE32

This patch un-swaps those pairs of instructions again, both for execution,
and for disassembly. (The previous version of the patch always read four
bytes in arm_read_memory_func and then extracted the proper two bytes,
in a probably misguided attempt to match the behaviour of actual hardware

in a helpful exception.)
Registers r0 to r12 and the flags are architecturally UNKNOWN on
reset, so we leave those at zero.

For M profile CPUs, FAULTMASK should be 0 on reset, like PRIMASK.
QEMU stores FAULTMASK in the PSTATE F bit, so (as with PRIMASK in the
I bit) we have to clear these to undo the A profile default of 1.
Update the comment accordingly and move it so that it's closer to the
code it's referring to.

We only use the IS_M() macro in two places, and it's a bit of a
namespace grab to put in cpu.h. Drop it in favour of just explicitly
calling arm_feature() in the places where it was used.

For v7m we need to catch attempts to execute from special
addresses at 0xfffffff0 and above. Previously we did this
with the aid of a hacky special purpose lump of memory
in the address space and a check in translate.c for whether
we were translating code at those addresses.
We can implement this more cleanly using a CPU
unassigned access handler which throws the exception
if the unassigned access is for one of the special addresses.

* drop the deletion of the "don't interrupt if PC is magic"

Enable the ARM_FEATURE_EL2 bit on Cortex-A52 and
Cortex-A57, since this is all now sufficiently implemented
to work with the GICv3. We provide the usual CPU property
to disable it for backwards compatibility with the older
virt boards.
In this commit, we disable the EL2 feature on the
virt and ZynpMP boards, so there is no overall effect.
Another commit will expose a board-level property to
allow the user to enable EL2.

The GICv3 support for virtualization includes an outbound
maintenance interrupt signal which is asserted when the
CPU interface wants to signal to the hypervisor that it
needs attention. Expose this as an outbound GPIO line from
the CPU object which can be wired up as a physical interrupt
line by the board code (as we do already for the CPU timers).

It is a common thing amongst the various cpu reset functions want to
flush the SoftMMU's TLB entries. This is done either by calling
tlb_flush directly or by way of a general memset of the CPU
structure (sometimes both).
This moves the tlb_flush call to the common reset function and
additionally ensures it is only done for the CONFIG_SOFTMMU case and
when tcg is enabled.
In some target cases we add an empty end_of_reset_fields structure to the
target vCPU structure so have a clear end point for any memset which
is resetting value in the structure before CPU_COMMON (where the TLB
structures are).
While this is a nice clean-up in general it is also a precursor for
changes coming to cputlb for MTTCG where the clearing of entries
can't be done arbitrarily across vCPUs. Currently the cpu_reset
function is usually called from the context of another vCPU as the
architectural power up sequence is run. By using the cputlb API
functions we can ensure the right behaviour in the future.

Address Register, but currently, qemu only adds VBAR support to ARMv7
CPUs. Fix this by adding a new feature ARM_FEATURE_VBAR which can used
for ARMv7 and ARM1176 CPUs.
The VBAR feature is always set for ARMv7 because some legacy boards
require it even if this is not architecturally correct.

The value of the MVFR1 (Media and VFP Feature Register 1) register for
the Cortex-A8 appears to be incorrect (according to the TRM, DDI0344K),
with the "full denormal arithmetic" and "propagation of NaN" fields
holding both 0 instead of both 1.
I had a go tracing the history of the use of this value, and it seems
it's always just been wrong in QEMU: maybe it was derived from early
documentation, or guessed based on the use of a "VFP Lite" implementation
in the Cortex-A8.
Depending on the startup/early-boot code in use, this can manifest as
failure to perform denormal arithmetic properly: in our case, selecting
a Cortex-A8 CPU when using QEMU as an instruction-set simulator for
bare-metal GCC testing caused tests using denormal arithmetic to
fail. Problems might be masked (or not occur) when using a full OS kernel
with suitable trap handlers (I'm not sure).

We've currently got 18 architectures in QEMU, and thus 18 target-xxx
folders in the root folder of the QEMU source tree. More architectures
(e.g. RISC-V, AVR) are likely to be included soon, too, so the main
folder of the QEMU sources slowly gets quite overcrowded with the
target-xxx folders.
To disburden the main folder a little bit, let's move the target-xxx
folders into a dedicated target/ folder, so that target-xxx/ simply
becomes target/xxx/ instead.
