c28db9e000 hw/pci-bridge: Make PCIe and CXL PXB Devices inherit from TYPE_PXB_DEV
Previously, PXB_CXL_DEVICE, PXB_PCIE_DEVICE and PXB_DEVICE all
have PCI_DEVICE as their direct parent but share a common state
struct PXBDev. convert_to_pxb() is used to get the PXBDev
instance from which ever of these types it is called on.

This patch switches to an explicit hierarchy based on shared
functionality.  To allow use of OBJECT_DECLARE_SIMPLE_TYPE()
whilst minimizing code changes, all types are renamed to have
the postfix _DEV rather than _DEVICE.  The new heirarchy
has PXB_CXL_DEV with parent PXB_PCIE_DEV which in turn
has parent PXB_DEV which continues to have parent PCI_DEVICE.

This allows simple use of PXB_DEV() etc rather than a custom function
+ removal of duplicated properties and moving the CXL specific
elements out of struct PXBDev.

The type conversion results in the right state structure, but PXB_DEV is
not a parent of PXB_CXL_DEV hence the error. Rather than directly
cleaning up the inheritance, this is the minimal fix which will be
followed by the cleanup.

154070eaf6 hw/pxb-cxl: Support passthrough HDM Decoders unless overridden
The CXL r3.0 specification allows for there to be no HDM decoders on CXL
Host Bridges if they have only a single root port. Instead, all accesses
directed to the host bridge (as specified in CXL Fixed Memory Windows)
are assumed to be routed to the single root port.

Linux currently assumes this implementation choice. So to simplify testing,
make QEMU emulation also default to no HDM decoders under these particular
circumstances, but provide a hdm_for_passthrough boolean option to have
HDM decoders as previously.

Technically this is breaking backwards compatibility, but given the only
known software stack used with the QEMU emulation is the Linux kernel
and this configuration did not work before this change, there are
unlikely to be any complaints that it now works. The option is retained
to allow testing of software that does allow for these HDM decoders to exist,
once someone writes it.

   (its size can be different from 'target_ulong').

65c326ce51 include/hw/cxl: Move typedef PXBDev to cxl.h, and put it to use
hw/cxl/cxl.h uses the PXBDev structure tag instead of the typedef
name.  The typedef name is defined in hw/pci/pci_bridge.h.  Its
inclusion was dropped in the previous commit to break an inclusion
loop.

Move the typedef to hw/cxl/cxl.h, and use it there.  Delete an extra
typedef in hw/pci-bridge/pci_expander_bridge.c.

7bd1900b36 pci/pci_expander_bridge: For CXL HB delay the HB register memory region setup.
As the CXLState will no long be accessible via MachineState
at time of PXB_CXL realization, come back later from the machine specific
code to fill in the missing memory region setup. Only at this stage
is it possible to check if cxl=on, so that check is moved to this
later point.

Note that for multiple host bridges, the allocation order of the
register spaces is changed. This will be reflected in ACPI CEDT.

Stubs are added to handle case of CONFIG_PXB=n for machines that
call these functions.

The bus walking logic is common to all machines so add a utility
function + stub to cxl-host*.

03b39fcf64 hw/cxl: Make the CXL fixed memory window setup a machine parameter.
Paolo Bonzini requested this change to simplify the ongoing
effort to allow machine setup entirely via RPC.

Includes shortening the command line form cxl-fixed-memory-window
to cxl-fmw as the command lines are extremely long even with this
change.

The json change is needed to ensure that there is
a CXLFixedMemoryWindowOptionsList even though the actual
element in the json is never used. Similar to existing
SgxEpcProperties.

Update qemu-options.hx to reflect that this is now a -machine
parameter.  The bulk of -M / -machine parameters are documented
under machine, so use that in preference to M.

Update cxl-test and bios-tables-test to reflect new parameters.

3d6a69b6eb acpi/cxl: Create the CEDT (9.14.1)
The CXL Early Discovery Table is defined in the CXL 2.0 specification as
a way for the OS to get CXL specific information from the system
firmware.

CXL 2.0 specification adds an _HID, ACPI0016, for CXL capable host
bridges, with a _CID of PNP0A08 (PCIe host bridge). CXL aware software
is able to use this initiate the proper _OSC method, and get the _UID
which is referenced by the CEDT. Therefore the existence of an ACPI0016
device allows a CXL aware driver perform the necessary actions. For a
CXL capable OS, this works. For a CXL unaware OS, this works.

CEDT awaremess requires more. The motivation for ACPI0017 is to provide
the possibility of having a Linux CXL module that can work on a legacy
Linux kernel. Linux core PCI/ACPI which won't be built as a module,
will see the _CID of PNP0A08 and bind a driver to it. If we later loaded
a driver for ACPI0016, Linux won't be able to bind it to the hardware
because it has already bound the PNP0A08 driver. The ACPI0017 device is
an opportunity to have an object to bind a driver will be used by a
Linux driver to walk the CXL topology and do everything that we would
have preferred to do with ACPI0016.

There is another motivation for an ACPI0017 device which isn't
implemented here. An operating system needs an attach point for a
non-volatile region provider that understands cross-hostbridge
interleaving. Since QEMU emulation doesn't support interleaving yet,
this is more important on the OS side, for now.

As of CXL 2.0 spec, only 1 sub structure is defined, the CXL Host Bridge
Structure (CHBS) which is primarily useful for telling the OS exactly
where the MMIO for the host bridge is.

6e4e3ae936 hw/cxl/component: Implement host bridge MMIO (8.2.5, table 142)
CXL host bridges themselves may have MMIO. Since host bridges don't have
a BAR they are treated as special for MMIO.  This patch includes
i386/pc support.
Also hook up the device reset now that we have have the MMIO
space in which the results are visible.

Note that we duplicate the PCI express case for the aml_build but
the implementations will diverge when the CXL specific _OSC is
introduced.

4f8db8711c hw/pxb: Allow creation of a CXL PXB (host bridge)
This works like adding a typical pxb device, except the name is
'pxb-cxl' instead of 'pxb-pcie'. An example command line would be as
follows:
  -device pxb-cxl,id=cxl.0,bus="pcie.0",bus_nr=1

A CXL PXB is backward compatible with PCIe. What this means in practice
is that an operating system that is unaware of CXL should still be able
to enumerate this topology as if it were PCIe.

One can create multiple CXL PXB host bridges, but a host bridge can only
be connected to the main root bus. Host bridges cannot appear elsewhere
in the topology.

Note that as of this patch, the ACPI tables needed for the host bridge
(specifically, an ACPI object in _SB named ACPI0016 and the CEDT) aren't
created. So while this patch internally creates it, it cannot be
properly used by an operating system or other system software.

Also necessary is to add an exception to scripts/device-crash-test
similar to that for exiting pxb as both must created on a PCIexpress
host bus.

9dccb1216b hw/pci/cxl: Create a CXL bus type
The easiest way to differentiate a CXL bus, and a PCIE bus is using a
flag. A CXL bus, in hardware, is backward compatible with PCIE, and
therefore the code tries pretty hard to keep them in sync as much as
possible.

The other way to implement this would be to try to cast the bus to the
correct type. This is less code and useful for debugging via simply
looking at the flags.

e609301b45 hw/pci-bridge/pxb: Fix missing swizzle
pxb_map_irq_fn() handled the necessary removal of the swizzle
applied to the PXB interrupts by the bus to which it was attached
but neglected to apply the normal swizzle for PCI root ports
on the expander bridge.

Result of this was on ARM virt, the PME interrupts for a second
RP on a PXB instance were miss-routed to #45 rather than #46.

Tested with a selection of different configurations with 1 to 5
RP per PXB instance.  Note on my x86 test setup the PME interrupts
are not triggered so I haven't been able to test this.

163f384752 qdev: Make DeviceState.id independent of QemuOpts
DeviceState.id is a pointer to a string that is stored in the QemuOpts
object DeviceState.opts and freed together with it. We want to create
devices without going through QemuOpts in the future, so make this a
separately allocated string.

Add a bypass_iommu property for pci_expander_bridge, the property
is used to indicate whether pxb root bus will bypass iommu. By
default the bypass_iommu is disabled, and it can be enabled with:
qemu -device pxb-pcie,bus_nr=0x10,addr=0x1,bypass_iommu=true

Some typedefs and macros are defined after the type check macros.
This makes it difficult to automatically replace their
definitions with OBJECT_DECLARE_TYPE.

Patch generated using:

which will split "typdef struct { ... } TypedefName"
declarations.

a27bd6c779 Include hw/qdev-properties.h less
In my "build everything" tree, changing hw/qdev-properties.h triggers
a recompile of some 2700 out of 6600 objects (not counting tests and
objects that don't depend on qemu/osdep.h).

Many places including hw/qdev-properties.h (directly or via hw/qdev.h)
actually need only hw/qdev-core.h.  Include hw/qdev-core.h there
instead.

hw/qdev.h is actually pointless: all it does is include hw/qdev-core.h
and hw/qdev-properties.h, which in turn includes hw/qdev-core.h.
Replace the remaining uses of hw/qdev.h by hw/qdev-properties.h.

While there, delete a few superfluous inclusions of hw/qdev-core.h.

Touching hw/qdev-properties.h now recompiles some 1200 objects.

b0e5196a52 pci: Simplify pci_bus_is_root()
pci_bus_is_root() currently relies on a method in the PCIBusClass.
But it's always known if a PCI bus is a root bus when we create it, so
using a dynamic method is overkill.

This replaces it with an IS_ROOT bit in a new flags field, which is set on
root buses and otherwise clear.  As a bonus this removes the special
is_root logic from pci_expander_bridge, since it already creates its bus
as a root bus.

fd56e0612b pci: Eliminate redundant PCIDevice::bus pointer
The bus pointer in PCIDevice is basically redundant with QOM information.
It's always initialized to the qdev_get_parent_bus(), the only difference
is the type.

Therefore this patch eliminates the field, instead creating a pci_get_bus()
helper to do the type mangling to derive it conveniently from the QOM
Device object underneath.

1115ff6d26 pci: Rename root bus initialization functions for clarity
pci_bus_init(), pci_bus_new_inplace(), pci_bus_new() and pci_register_bus()
are misleadingly named.  They're not used for initializing *any* PCI bus,
but only for a root PCI bus.

Non-root buses - i.e. ones under a logical PCI to PCI bridge - are instead
created with a direct qbus_create_inplace() (see pci_bridge_initfn()).

This patch renames the functions to make it clear they're only used for
a root bus.

2) base-pci-bridge

Not all PCI bridges are Conventional PCI devices, so
INTERFACE_CONVENTIONAL_PCI_DEVICE is added only to the subtypes
that are actually Conventional PCI:

* dec-21154-p2p-bridge
* i82801b11-bridge
* pbm-bridge
* pci-bridge

The direct subtypes of base-pci-bridge not touched by this patch
are:

* xilinx-pcie-root: Already marked as PCIe-only.
* pcie-pci-bridge: Already marked as PCIe-only.
* pcie-port: all non-abstract subtypes of pcie-port are already
  marked as PCIe-only devices.

3) megasas-base

Not all megasas devices are Conventional PCI devices, so the
interface names are added to the subclasses registered by
megasas_register_types(), according to information in the
megasas_devices[] array.

"megasas-gen2" already implements INTERFACE_PCIE_DEVICE, so add
INTERFACE_CONVENTIONAL_PCI_DEVICE only to "megasas".

e90f2a8c3e qdev: Replace cannot_instantiate_with_device_add_yet with !user_creatable
cannot_instantiate_with_device_add_yet was introduced by commit
efec3dd631 to replace no_user. It was
supposed to be a temporary measure.

When it was introduced, we had 54
cannot_instantiate_with_device_add_yet=true lines in the code.
Today (3 years later) this number has not shrunk: we now have
57 cannot_instantiate_with_device_add_yet=true lines. I think it
is safe to say it is not a temporary measure, and we won't see
the flag go away soon.

Instead of a long field name that misleads people to believe it
is temporary, replace it a shorter and less misleading field:
user_creatable.

We have agreed that OpenFirmware device paths in the "bootorder" fw_cfg
file should follow the pattern

  /pci@i0cf8,%x/...

for devices that live behind an extra root bus. The extra root bus in
question is the %x'th among the extra root buses. (In other words, %x
gives the position of the affected extra root bus relative to the other
extra root buses, in bus_nr order.) %x starts at 1, and is formatted in
hex.

The portion of the unit address that comes before the comma is dynamically
taken from the main host bridge, similarly to sysbus_get_fw_dev_path().

d10dda2d60 hw/pci-bridge: disable SHPC in PXB
OVMF downloads the ACPI linker/loader script from QEMU when the edk2 PCI
Bus driver globally signals the firmware that PCI enumeration and resource
allocation have completed. At this point QEMU regenerates the ACPI payload
in an fw_cfg read callback, and this is when the PXB's _CRS gets
populated.

Unfortunately, when this happens, the PCI_COMMAND_MEMORY bit is clear in
the root bus's command register, *unlike* under SeaBIOS. The consequences
unfold as follows:

- When build_crs() fetches dev->io_regions[i].addr, it is all-bits-one,
  because pci_update_mappings() --> pci_bar_address() calculated it as
  PCI_BAR_UNMAPPED, due to the PCI_COMMAND_MEMORY bit being clear.

- Consequently, the SHPC MMIO BAR (bar 0) of the bridge is not added to
  the _CRS, *despite* having been programmed in PCI config space.

- Similarly, the SHPC MMIO BAR of the PXB is not removed from the main
  root bus's DWordMemory descriptor.

- Guest OSes (Linux and Windows alike) notice the pre-programmed SHPC BAR
  within the PXB's config space, and notice that it conflicts with the
  main root bus's memory resource descriptors. Linux reports

This issue was apparently encountered earlier, see the "hack" in:

and the current hole-punching logic in build_crs() and build_ssdt() is
probably supposed to remedy exactly that problem -- however, for OVMF they
don't work, because at the end of the PCI enumeration and resource
allocation, which cues the ACPI linker/loader client, the command register
is clear.

The "shpc" property of "pci-bridge", introduced in the previous patches,
allows us to disable the standard hotplug controller cleanly, eliminating
the SHPC bar and the conflict.

The bios does not index the pxb slot number when
it computes the IRQ because it resides on bus 0
and not on the current bus.
However Qemu routes the irq through bus 0 and adds
the pxb slot to the IRQ computation of the PXB device.

pxb's effect.

40d14bef80 hw/pci: introduce PCI Expander Bridge (PXB)
PXB is a "light-weight" host bridge whose purpose is to enable
the main host bridge to support multiple PCI root buses
for pc machines.

As oposed to PCI-2-PCI bridge's secondary bus, PXB's bus
is a primary bus and can be associated with a NUMA node
(different from the main host bridge) allowing the guest OS
to recognize the proximity of a pass-through device to
other resources as RAM and CPUs.

The PXB is composed from:
 - A primary PCI bus (can be associated with a NUMA node)
   Acts like a normal pci bus and from the functionality point
   of view is an "expansion" of the bus behind the
   main host bridge.
 - A pci-2-pci bridge behind the primary PCI bus where the actual
   devices will be attached.
 - A host-bridge PCI device
   Situated on the bus behind the main host bridge, allows
   the BIOS to configure the bus number and IO/mem resources.
   It does not have its own config/data register for configuration
   cycles, this being handled by the main host bridge.
-  A host-bridge sysbus to comply with QEMU current design.
