It's just a wrapper around the -display ...,window-close=off parameter,
and the name "no-quit" is rather confusing compared to "window-close"
(since there are still other means to quit the emulator), so we should
rather tell our users to use the "window-close" parameter instead.
While we're at it, update the documentation to state that
"-no-quit" is available for GTK, too, not only for SDL.

According to the QAPI schema, there is a "-" and not a "_" between
"window" and "close", and we're also talking about "window-close"
in the long parameter description in qemu-options.hx, so we should
make sure that we rather use the variant with the "-" by default
instead of only allowing the one with the "_" here. The old way
still stays enabled for compatibility, but we deprecate it, so that
we can switch to a QAPIfied parameter one day more easily.

Type 41 defines the attributes of devices that are onboard. The
original intent was to imply the BIOS had some level of control over
the enablement of the associated devices.
If network devices are present in this table, by default, udev will
name the corresponding interfaces enoX, X being the instance number.
Without such information, udev will fallback to using the PCI ID and
this usually gives ens3 or ens4. This can be a bit annoying as the
name of the network card may depend on the order of options and may
change if a new PCI device is added earlier on the commande line.
Being able to provide SMBIOS type 41 entry ensure the name of the
interface won't change and helps the user guess the right name without
booting a first time.
This can be invoked with:
$QEMU -netdev user,id=internet
-device virtio-net-pci,mac=50:54:00:00:00:42,netdev=internet,id=internet-dev \
-smbios type=41,designation='Onboard LAN',instance=1,kind=ethernet,pcidev=internet-dev
The PCI segment is assumed to be 0. This should hold true for most
cases.

New option -compat lets you configure what to do when deprecated
interfaces get used. This is intended for testing users of the
management interfaces. It is experimental.
-compat deprecated-input=<input-policy> configures what to do when
deprecated input is received. Input policy can be "accept" (accept
silently), or "reject" (reject the request with an error).
-compat deprecated-output=<out-policy> configures what to do when
deprecated output is sent. Output policy can be "accept" (pass on
unchanged), or "hide" (filter out the deprecated parts).
Default is "accept". Policies other than "accept" are implemented
later in this series.
For now, -compat covers only syntactic aspects of QMP, i.e. stuff
tagged with feature 'deprecated'. We may want to extend it to cover
semantic aspects, CLI, and experimental features.
Note that there is no good way for management application to detect
presence of -compat: it's not visible output of query-qmp-schema or
query-command-line-options. Tolerable, because it's meant for
testing. If running with -compat fails, skip the test.

"-action panic=poweroff" should be renamed to "-action panic=shutdown"
on the command line. This is because "-action panic=poweroff" and
"-action watchdog=poweroff" have slightly different semantics, the first
does an unorderly exit while the second goes through qemu_cleanup(). With
this change, -no-shutdown would not have to change "-action panic=pause"

The "XVP" (Xen VNC Proxy) extension defines a mechanism for a VNC client
to issue power control requests to trigger graceful shutdown, reboot, or
hard reset.
This option is not enabled by default, since we cannot assume that users
with VNC access implicitly have administrator access to the guest OS.
Thus is it enabled with a boolean "power-control" option e.g.
-vnc :1,power-control=on
While, QEMU can easily support shutdown and reset, there's no easy way
to wire up reboot support at this time. In theory it could be done by
issuing a shutdown, followed by a reset, but there's no convenient
wiring for such a pairing in QEMU. It also isn't possible to have the
VNC server directly talk to QEMU guest agent, since the agent chardev is
typically owned by an external mgmt app.

The current default action of pausing a guest after a panic event
is received leaves the responsibility to resume guest execution to the
management layer. The reasons for this behavior are discussed here:
https://lore.kernel.org/qemu-devel/52148F88.5000509@redhat.com/
However, in instances like the case of older guests (Linux and
Windows) using a pvpanic device but missing support for the
PVPANIC_CRASHLOADED event, and Windows guests using the hv-crash
enlightenment, it is desirable to allow the guests to continue
running after sending a PVPANIC_PANICKED event. This allows such
guests to proceed to capture a crash dump and automatically reboot
without intervention of a management layer.
Add an option to avoid stopping a VM after a panic event is received,
by passing:
-action panic=none
in the command line arguments, or during runtime by using an upcoming
QMP command.

The man page does not contain all the chapters from the System Emulation
Users Guide, so some of the links that we've put into the qemu options
descriptions can not be resolved and thus the link names are used in the
man pages instead. These link names currently contain weird "_005f" letters
in the middle and just do not make any sense for the users. To avoid this
situation, replace the link names with more descriptive, natural text.

The option has never been mentioned in our documentation, it's been
deprecated since years, it's marked with QEMU_ARCH_I386 (which does
not make sense anymore since KVM is available on other architectures,
too), it does not do anything by default in upstream QEMU (since TCG
is the default here anyway), and we're spending too much precious time
each year discussing whether it makes sense to keep this option as a
nice suger or not... let's finally put an end on this and remove it.

According to
<https://docutils.sourceforge.io/docs/ref/rst/directives.html#parsed-literal>,
"inline markup is recognized and there is no protection from parsing.
Backslash-escapes may be necessary to prevent unintended parsing".
The qemu(1) manual page (formatted with Sphinx 2.2.2) has several overlong
lines on my system. A stand-alone backslash at EOL serves as line
continuation in a "parsed-literal" block. Therefore, escape the
backslashes that we want to appear as such in the formatted documentation.

Common VM users sometimes care about CPU speed, so we add two new
options to allow VM vendors to present CPU speed to their users.
Normally these information can be fetched from host smbios.
Strictly speaking, the "max speed" and "current speed" in type 4
are not really for the max speed and current speed of processor, for
"max speed" identifies a capability of the system, and "current speed"
identifies the processor's speed at boot (see smbios spec), but some
applications do not tell the differences.

Purpose of this patch:
We want to print guest name for errors, warnings and info messages. This
was the first of two patches the second being MCE errors targeting a VM
with guest name prepended. But in a large fleet we see many other
errors that disable a VM or crash it. In a large fleet and centralized

On the host OS, various aspects of TLS operation are configurable.
In particular it is possible for the sysadmin to control the TLS
cipher/protocol algorithms that applications are permitted to use.
* Any given crypto library has a built-in default priority list
defined by the distro maintainer of the library package (or by
upstream).
* The "crypto-policies" RPM (or equivalent host OS package)
provides a config file such as "/etc/crypto-policies/config",
where the sysadmin can set a high level (library-independent)
policy.
The "update-crypto-policies --set" command (or equivalent) is
used to translate the global policy to individual library
representations, producing files such as
"/etc/crypto-policies/back-ends/*.config". The generated files,
if present, are loaded by the various crypto libraries to
override their own built-in defaults.
For example, the GNUTLS library may read
"/etc/crypto-policies/back-ends/gnutls.config".
* A management application (or the QEMU user) may overide the
system-wide crypto-policies config via their own config, if
they need to diverge from the former.
Thus the priority order is "QEMU user config" > "crypto-policies
system config" > "library built-in config".
Introduce the "tls-cipher-suites" object for exposing the ordered
list of permitted TLS cipher suites from the host side to the
guest firmware, via fw_cfg. The list is represented as an array
of bytes.
The priority at which the host-side policy is retrieved is given
by the "priority" property of the new object type. For example,
"priority=@SYSTEM" may be used to refer to
"/etc/crypto-policies/back-ends/gnutls.config" (given that QEMU
uses GNUTLS).
The firmware uses the IANA_TLS_CIPHER array for configuring
guest-side TLS, for example in UEFI HTTPS Boot.

The documentation of our -s and -gdb options is quite old; in
particular it still claims that it will cause QEMU to stop and wait
for the gdb connection, when this has not been true for some time:
you also need to pass -S if you want to make QEMU not launch the
guest on startup.
Improve the documentation to mention this requirement in the
executable's --help output, the documentation of the -gdb option in
the manual, and in the "GDB usage" chapter.
Includes some minor tweaks to these paragraphs of documentation
since I was editing them anyway (such as dropping the description
of our gdb support as "primitive").

This commit contains hand-written fixes for some issues with the
autogenerated rST fragments in qemu-options.hx:
* Sphinx complains about the UTF-8 art table in the documentation of
the -drive option. Replace it with a proper rST format table.
* rST does not like definition list entries with no actual
definition, but it is possible to work around this by putting a
single escaped literal space as the definition line.
* The "-g widthxheight" option documentation suffers particularly
badly from losing the distinction between italics and fixed-width
as a result of the auto conversion, so put it back in again.
* The script missed some places that use the |qemu_system| etc
macros and need to be marked up as parsed-literal blocks.
* The script autogenerated an expanded out version of the
contents of qemu-option-trace.texi; replace it with an
qemu-option-trace.rst.inc include.
This is sufficient that we can enable inclusion of the
option documentation from invocation.rst.

The qemu-block-drivers documentation is currently in
docs/qemu-block-drivers.texi in Texinfo format, which we present
to the user as:
* a qemu-block-drivers manpage
* a section of the main qemu-doc HTML documentation
Convert the documentation to rST format, and present it to
the user as:
* a qemu-block-drivers manpage
* part of the system/ Sphinx manual
This follows the same pattern we've done for qemu-ga and qemu-nbd.
We have to drop a cross-reference from the documentation of the
-cdrom option back to the qemu-block-drivers documentation, since
they're no longer within the same texinfo document.
As noted in a comment, the manpage output is slightly compromised
due to limitations in Sphinx. In an ideal world, the HTML output
would have the various headings like 'Disk image file formats'
as top-level section headings (which then appear in the overall
system manual's table-of-contents), and it would not have the
section headings which make sense only for the manpage like
'synopsis', 'description', and 'see also'. Unfortunately, the
mechanism Sphinx provides for restricting pieces of documentation
is limited to the point of being flawed: the 'only::' directive
is implemented as a filter that is applied at a very late stage
in the document processing pipeline, rather than as an early
equivalent of an #ifdef. This means that Sphinx's process of
identifying which section heading markup styles are which levels
of heading gets confused if the 'only::' directive contains
section headings which would affect the heading-level of a
later heading. I have opted to prioritise making the HTML format
look better, with the compromise being that in the manpage
the 'Disk image file formats' &c headings are top-level headings
rather than being sub-headings under the traditional 'Description'
top-level section title.

The initiator represents processor which access to memory. And in 5.2.27.3
Memory Proximity Domain Attributes Structure, the attached initiator is
defined as where the memory controller responsible for a memory proximity
domain. With attached initiator information, the topology of heterogeneous
memory can be described. Add new machine property 'hmat' to enable all
HMAT specific options.
Extend CLI of "-numa node" option to indicate the initiator numa node-id.
In the linux kernel, the codes in drivers/acpi/hmat/hmat.c parse and report
the platform's HMAT tables. Before using initiator option, enable HMAT with
-machine hmat=on.

-msg parameter "timestamp" defaults to "off" if you don't specify msg,
and to "on" if you do. Messed up right in commit 5e2ac51917 "add
timestamp to error_report()". Mostly harmless, because "timestamp" is
the only parameter, so "if you do" is "-msg ''", which nobody does.
Change the default to "off" no matter what.
While there, rename enable_timestamp_msg to error_with_timestamp, and
polish documentation.

The first machine property to fall is Xen's Intel integrated graphics
passthrough. The "-machine igd-passthru" option does not set anymore
a property on the machine object, but desugars to a GlobalProperty on
accelerator objects.
The setter is very simple, since the value ends up in a
global variable, so this patch also provides an example before the more
complicated cases that follow it.

It's been deprecated since QEMU v3.1. We've explicitly asked in the
deprecation message that people should speak up on qemu-devel in case
they are still actively using the bluetooth part of QEMU, but nobody
ever replied that they are really still using it.
I've tried it on my own to use this bluetooth subsystem for one of my
guests, but I was also not able to get it running anymore: When I was
trying to pass-through a real bluetooth device, either the guest did
not see the device at all, or the guest crashed.
Even worse for the emulated device: When running
qemu-system-x86_64 -bt device:keyboard
QEMU crashes once you hit a key.
So it seems like the bluetooth stack is not only neglected, it is
completely bitrotten, as far as I can tell. The only attention that
this code got during the past years were some CVEs that have been
spotted there. So this code is a burden for the developers, without
any real benefit anymore. Time to remove it.
Note: hw/bt/Kconfig only gets cleared but not removed here yet.
Otherwise there is a problem with the *-softmmu/config-devices.mak.d
dependency files - they still contain a reference to this file which
gets evaluated first on some build hosts, before the file gets
properly recreated. To avoid breaking these builders, we still need
the file around for some time. It will get removed in a couple of
weeks instead.

This will allow us to disable mixeng when we use a decent backend.
Disabling mixeng have a few advantages:
* we no longer convert the audio output from one format to another, when
the underlying audio system would just convert it to a third format.
We no longer convert, only the underlying system, when needed.
* the underlying system probably has better resampling and sample format
converting methods anyway...
* we may support formats that the mixeng currently does not support (S24
or float samples, more than two channels)
* when using an audio server (like pulseaudio) different sound card
outputs will show up as separate streams, even if we use only one
backend
Disadvantages:
* audio capturing no longer works (wavcapture, and vnc audio extension)
* some backends only support a single playback stream or very picky
about the audio format. In this case we can't disable mixeng.
Originally thw two main use cases of the disabled option was: using
unsupported audio formats (5.1 and 7.1 audio) and having different
pulseaudio streams per audio frontend. Since we can have multiple
-audiodevs, the latter is not that important, so currently you only need
this option if you want to use 5.1 or 7.1 audio (implemented in a later
patch), otherwise it's probably better to stick to the old and tried
mixeng, since it's less picky about the backends.
The ideal solution would be to port as much as possible to gstreamer,
but this is currently out of scope:

'warn' (default): Only log an error message (once) on host if more than one
device is shared by same export, except of that just ignore this config
error though. This is the default behaviour for not breaking existing
installations implying that they really know what they are doing.
'forbid': Like 'warn', but except of just logging an error this
also denies access of guest to additional devices.
'remap': Allows to share more than one device per export by remapping
inodes from host to guest appropriately. To support multiple devices on the
9p share, and avoid qid path collisions we take the device id as input to
generate a unique QID path. The lowest 48 bits of the path will be set
equal to the file inode, and the top bits will be uniquely assigned based
on the top 16 bits of the inode and the device id.

Using the UUID that qemu generates probably isn't the best thing
to do, allow it to be passed in via properties, and use QemuUUID
for the type.
If the UUID is not set, return an unsupported command error. This
way we are not providing an all-zero (or randomly generated) GUID
to the IPMI user. This lets the host fall back to the other
method of using the get device id command to determind the BMC
being accessed.

In our documentation, we use a mix of "$QEMU", "qemu-system-i386" and
"qemu-system-x86_64" when we give examples to the users how to run
QEMU. Some more consistency would be good here. Also some distributions
use different names for the QEMU binary (e.g. "qemu-kvm" in RHEL), so
providing more flexibility here would also be good. Thus let's define
some variables for the names of the QEMU command and use those in the
documentation instead: @value{qemu_system} for generic examples, and
@value{qemu_system_x86} for examples that only work with the x86
binaries.

When QEMU exposes a VirtIO-RNG device to the guest, that device needs a
source of entropy, and that source needs to be "non-blocking", like
`/dev/urandom`. However, currently QEMU defaults to the problematic
`/dev/random`, which on Linux is "blocking" (as in, it waits until
sufficient entropy is available).
Why prefer `/dev/urandom` over `/dev/random`?
---------------------------------------------
The man pages of urandom(4) and random(4) state:
"The /dev/random device is a legacy interface which dates back to a
time where the cryptographic primitives used in the implementation
of /dev/urandom were not widely trusted. It will return random
bytes only within the estimated number of bits of fresh noise in the
entropy pool, blocking if necessary. /dev/random is suitable for
applications that need high quality randomness, and can afford
indeterminate delays."
Further, the "Usage" section of the said man pages state:
"The /dev/random interface is considered a legacy interface, and
/dev/urandom is preferred and sufficient in all use cases, with the
exception of applications which require randomness during early boot
time; for these applications, getrandom(2) must be used instead,
because it will block until the entropy pool is initialized.
"If a seed file is saved across reboots as recommended below (all
major Linux distributions have done this since 2000 at least), the
output is cryptographically secure against attackers without local
root access as soon as it is reloaded in the boot sequence, and
perfectly adequate for network encryption session keys. Since reads
from /dev/random may block, users will usually want to open it in
nonblocking mode (or perform a read with timeout), and provide some
sort of user notification if the desired entropy is not immediately
available."
And refer to random(7) for a comparison of `/dev/random` and
`/dev/urandom`.
What about other OSes?
----------------------
`/dev/urandom` exists and works on OS-X, FreeBSD, DragonFlyBSD, NetBSD
and OpenBSD, which cover all the non-Linux platforms we explicitly
support, aside from Windows.
On Windows `/dev/random` doesn't work either so we don't regress.
This is actually another argument in favour of using the newly
proposed 'rng-builtin' backend by default, as that will work on
Windows.
- - -
Given the above, change the entropy source for VirtIO-RNG device to
`/dev/urandom`.

Currently any client which can complete the TLS handshake is able to use
a chardev server. The server admin can turn on the 'verify-peer' option
for the x509 creds to require the client to provide a x509
certificate. This means the client will have to acquire a certificate
from the CA before they are permitted to use the chardev server. This is
still a fairly low bar.
This adds a 'tls-authz=OBJECT-ID' option to the socket chardev backend
which takes the ID of a previously added 'QAuthZ' object instance. This
will be used to validate the client's x509 distinguished name. Clients
failing the check will not be permitted to use the chardev server.
For example to setup authorization that only allows connection from a
client whose x509 certificate distinguished name contains 'CN=fred', you
would use:
$QEMU -object tls-creds-x509,id=tls0,dir=/home/berrange/qemutls,\

The VNC server has historically had support for ACLs to check both the
SASL username and the TLS x509 distinguished name. The VNC server was
responsible for creating the initial ACL, and the client app was then
responsible for populating it with rules using the HMP 'acl_add' command.
This is not satisfactory for a variety of reasons. There is no way to
populate the ACLs from the command line, users are forced to use the
HMP. With multiple network services all supporting TLS and ACLs now, it
is desirable to be able to define a single ACL that is referenced by all
services.
To address these limitations, two new options are added to the VNC
server CLI. The 'tls-authz' option takes the ID of a QAuthZ object to
use for checking TLS x509 distinguished names, and the 'sasl-authz'
option takes the ID of another object to use for checking SASL usernames.
In this example, we setup two authorization rules. The first allows any
client with a certificate issued by the 'RedHat' organization in the
'London' locality. The second ACL allows clients with either the
'joe@REDHAT.COM' or 'fred@REDHAT.COM' kerberos usernames. Both checks
must pass for the user to be allowed.

Add an authorization backend that talks to PAM to check whether the user
identity is allowed. This only uses the PAM account validation facility,
which is essentially just a check to see if the provided username is permitted
access. It doesn't use the authentication or session parts of PAM, since
that's dealt with by the relevant part of QEMU (eg VNC server).
Consider starting QEMU with a VNC server and telling it to use TLS with
x509 client certificates and configuring it to use an PAM to validate
the x509 distinguished name. In this example we're telling it to use PAM
for the QAuthZ impl with a service name of "qemu-vnc"
$ qemu-system-x86_64 \
-object tls-creds-x509,id=tls0,dir=/home/berrange/security/qemutls,\
endpoint=server,verify-peer=yes \
-object authz-pam,id=authz0,service=qemu-vnc \
-vnc :1,tls-creds=tls0,tls-authz=authz0
This requires an /etc/pam/qemu-vnc file to be created with the auth
rules. A very simple file based whitelist can be setup using
$ cat > /etc/pam/qemu-vnc <<EOF
account requisite pam_listfile.so item=user sense=allow file=/etc/qemu/vnc.allow
EOF
The /etc/qemu/vnc.allow file simply contains one username per line. Any
username not in the file is denied. The usernames in this example are
the x509 distinguished name from the client's x509 cert.
$ cat > /etc/qemu/vnc.allow <<EOF
CN=laptop.berrange.com,O=Berrange Home,L=London,ST=London,C=GB
EOF
More interesting would be to configure PAM to use an LDAP backend, so
that the QEMU authorization check data can be centralized instead of
requiring each compute host to have file maintained.
The main limitation with this PAM module is that the rules apply to all
QEMU instances on the host. Setting up different rules per VM, would
require creating a separate PAM service name & config file for every
guest. An alternative approach for the future might be to not pass in
the plain username to PAM, but instead combine the VM name or UUID with
the username. This requires further consideration though.

Add a QAuthZListFile object type that implements the QAuthZ interface. This
built-in implementation is a proxy around the QAuthZList object type,
initializing it from an external file, and optionally, automatically
reloading it whenever it changes.
To create an instance of this object via the QMP monitor, the syntax
used would be:
{
"execute": "object-add",
"arguments": {
"qom-type": "authz-list-file",
"id": "authz0",
"props": {
"filename": "/etc/qemu/vnc.acl",
"refresh": true
}
}
}
If "refresh" is "yes", inotify is used to monitor the file,
automatically reloading changes. If an error occurs during reloading,
all authorizations will fail until the file is next successfully
loaded.
The /etc/qemu/vnc.acl file would contain a JSON representation of a
QAuthZList object
{
"rules": [
{ "match": "fred", "policy": "allow", "format": "exact" },
{ "match": "bob", "policy": "allow", "format": "exact" },
{ "match": "danb", "policy": "deny", "format": "glob" },
{ "match": "dan*", "policy": "allow", "format": "exact" },
],
"policy": "deny"
}
This sets up an authorization rule that allows 'fred', 'bob' and anyone
whose name starts with 'dan', except for 'danb'. Everyone unmatched is
denied.
The object can be loaded on the comand line using
-object authz-list-file,id=authz0,filename=/etc/qemu/vnc.acl,refresh=yes

For this to work, it will set up Spice server with a unix socket, and
register a VC chardev that will be exposed as Spice ports. A QMP

fuller qemu control and state handling.
- doesn't handle VC set_echo() - this doesn't seem a strong

The upper limit on the L2 cache size is increased from 1 MB to 32 MB
on Linux platforms, and to 8 MB on other platforms (this difference is
caused by the ability to set intervals for cache cleaning on Linux
platforms only).
This is done in order to allow default full coverage with the L2 cache
for images of up to 256 GB in size (was 8 GB). Note, that only the
needed amount to cover the full image is allocated. The value which is
changed here is just the upper limit on the L2 cache size, beyond which
it will not grow, even if the size of the image will require it to.

Sufficient L2 cache can noticeably improve the performance when using
large images with frequent I/O.
Previously, unless 'cache-size' was specified and was large enough, the
L2 cache was set to a certain size without taking the virtual image size
into account.
Now, the L2 cache assignment is aware of the virtual size of the image,
and will cover the entire image, unless the cache size needed for that is
larger than a certain maximum. This maximum is set to 1 MB by default
(enough to cover an 8 GB image with the default cluster size) but can
be increased or decreased using the 'l2-cache-size' option. This option
was previously documented as the *maximum* L2 cache size, and this patch
makes it behave as such, instead of as a constant size. Also, the
existing option 'cache-size' can limit the sum of both L2 and refcount
caches, as previously.

This boolean option 'pmem' allows users to specify whether the backend

Pre-Shared Keys (PSK) is a simpler mechanism for enabling TLS
connections than using certificates. It requires only a simple secret
key:
$ mkdir -m 0700 /tmp/keys
$ psktool -u rjones -p /tmp/keys/keys.psk
$ cat /tmp/keys/keys.psk
rjones:d543770c15ad93d76443fb56f501a31969235f47e999720ae8d2336f6a13fcbc
The key can be secretly shared between clients and servers. Clients
must specify the directory containing the "keys.psk" file and a
username (defaults to "qemu"). Servers must specify only the
directory.
Example NBD client:
$ qemu-img info \
--object tls-creds-psk,id=tls0,dir=/tmp/keys,username=rjones,endpoint=client \
--image-opts \
file.driver=nbd,file.host=localhost,file.port=10809,file.tls-creds=tls0,file.export=/
Example NBD server using qemu-nbd:
$ qemu-nbd -t -x / \
--object tls-creds-psk,id=tls0,endpoint=server,dir=/tmp/keys \
--tls-creds tls0 \
image.qcow2
Example NBD server using nbdkit:
$ nbdkit -n -e / -fv \
--tls=on --tls-psk=/tmp/keys/keys.psk \
file file=disk.img

With this flag, kvm allows guest to control host CPU power state. This
increases latency for other processes using same host CPU in an
unpredictable way, but if decreases idle entry/exit times for the
running VCPU, so to use it QEMU needs a hint about whether host CPU is
overcommitted, hence the flag name.
Follow-up patches will expose this capability to guest

We currently have got three ways of turning on the HAX accelerator:
"-machine accel=hax", "-accel hax" and "-enable-hax". That's really
confusing and overloaded. Since "-accel" is our preferred way to enable
an accelerator nowadays, and "-accel hax" is even less to type than
"-enable-hax", let's deprecate the "-enable-hax" option now.
Note: While "-enable-kvm" is available since a long time and can hardly be
removed since it is used in a lot of upper layer tools and scripts, the
"-enable-hax" option is still rather new and not very widespread yet, so
I think that it should be OK if we remove this in a couple of releases again
(we'll see whether someone complains after seeing the deprecation message -
then we could still reconsider to keep it if there a well-founded reasons).

This option allows pausing QEMU in the new RUN_STATE_PRECONFIG state,
allowing the configuration of QEMU from QMP before the machine jumps
into board initialization code of machine_run_board_init()
The intent is to allow management to query machine state and additionally
configure it using previous query results within one QEMU instance
(i.e. eliminate the need to start QEMU twice, 1st to query board specific
parameters and 2nd for actual VM start using query results for
additional parameters).
The new option complements -S option and could be used with or without
it. The difference is that -S pauses QEMU when the machine is completely
initialized with all devices wired up and ready to execute guest code
(QEMU needs only to unpause VCPUs to let guest execute its code),
while the "preconfig" option pauses QEMU early before board specific init
callback (machine_run_board_init) is executed and allows the configuration
of machine parameters which will be used by board init code.
When early introspection/configuration is done, command 'exit-preconfig'
should be used to exit RUN_STATE_PRECONFIG and transition to the next
requested state (i.e. if -S is used then QEMU will pause the second
time when board/device initialization is completed or start guest
execution if -S isn't provided on CLI)
PS:
Initially 'preconfig' is planned to be used for configuring numa
topology depending on board specified possible cpus layout.
