We have lacked expressive support for memory sizes larger
than 64-bits for a while. Fixing that requires adjustment
to several points where we used this for array indexing,
and two places that develop -Wswitch warnings after the change.

Let's enable storage keys lazily under TCG, just as we do under KVM.
Only fairly old Linux versions actually make use of storage keys, so it
can be kind of wasteful to allocate quite some memory and track
changes and references if nobody cares.
We have to make sure to flush the TLB when enabling storage keys after
the VM was already running: otherwise it might happen that we don't
catch references or modifications afterwards.
Add proper documentation to all callbacks.
The kvm-unit-tests skey tests keeps on working with this change.

Let's move address validation into mmu_translate() and
mmu_translate_real(). This allows for checking whether an absolute
address is valid before looking up the storage key. We can now get rid of
the ram_size check.
Interestingly, we're already handling LOAD REAL ADDRESS wrong, because
a) We're not supposed to touch storage keys
b) We're not supposed to convert to an absolute address
Let's use a fake, negative MMUAccessType to teach mmu_translate() to
fix that handling and to not perform address validation.

Let's replace the ram_size check by a proper physical address space
check (for example, to prepare for memory hotplug), trigger addressing
exceptions and trace the return value of the storage key getter/setter.
Provide an helper mmu_absolute_addr_valid() to be used in other context
soon. Always test for "read" instead of "write" as we are not actually
modifying the page itself.

For RRBE, SSKE, and ISKE, we're dealing with real addresses, so we have to
convert to an absolute address first.
In the future, when adding EDAT1 support, we'll have to pay attention to
SSKE handling, as we'll be dealing with absolute addresses when the
multiple-block control is one.

Right now we could set an 8-bit storage key via SSKE and retrieve it
again via ISKE, which is against the architecture description:

We not only invalidate the translation of the range 0x0-0x2000, we also
invalidate the translation of the new prefix range and the translation
of the old prefix range -- because real2abs would return different
results for all of these ranges when changing the prefix location.
This fixes the kvm-unit-tests "edat" test that just hangs before this
patch because we end up clearing the new prefix area instead of the old
prefix area.
While at it, let's not do anything in case the prefix doesn't change.

Always provide the atomic interface using TCGMemOpIdx oi
and uintptr_t retaddr. Rename from helper_* to cpu_* so
as to (mostly) match the exec/cpu_ldst.h functions, and
to emphasize that they are not callable from TCG directly.

We have not needed to end a TB for I/O since ba3e792669
("icount: clean up cpu_can_io at the entry to the block").
In use_goto_tb, the check for singlestep_enabled is in the
generic translator_use_goto_tb. In s390x_tr_tb_stop, the
check for singlestep_enabled is in the preceding do_debug test.
Which leaves only FLAG_MASK_PER: fold that test alone into
the two callers of use_exit tb.

Add a target-specific Kconfig. We need the definitions in Kconfig so
the minikconf tool can verify they exits. However CONFIG_FOO is only
enabled for target foo via the meson.build rules.
Two architecture have a particularity, ARM and MIPS. As their
translators have been split you can potentially build a plain 32 bit
build along with a 64-bit version including the 32-bit subset.

The element size is located in m5, not in m4. As there is no m4, qemu
currently crashes with an assertion, trying to lookup that field.
Reproduced and tested via GO, which ends up using VMSL once the
Vector enhancements facility is around for verifying certificates with
elliptic curves.

The FP-to-integer conversion instructions need to set CC 3 whenever
a "special case" occurs; this is the case whenever the instruction
also signals the IEEE invalid exception. (See e.g. figure 19-18
in the Principles of Operation.)
However, qemu currently will set CC 3 only in the case where the
input was a NaN. This is indeed one of the special cases, but
there are others, most notably the case where the input is out
of range of the target data type.
This patch fixes the problem by switching these instructions to
the "static" CC method and computing the correct result directly
in the helper. (It cannot be re-computed later as the information
about the invalid exception is no longer available.)
This fixes a bug observed when running the wasmtime test suite
under the s390x-linux-user target.

This defines 5 new facilities and the new 3931 and 3932 machines.
As before the name is not yet known and we do use gen16a and gen16b.
The new features are part of the full model.
The default model is still empty (same as z15) and will be added
in a separate patch at a later point in time.
Also add the dependencies of new facilities and as a fix for z15 add
a dependency from S390_FEAT_VECTOR_PACKED_DECIMAL_ENH to
S390_VECTOR_PACKED_DECIMAL.

For IEEE functions, we can reuse the softfloat implementations. For the
other functions, implement it generically for 32bit/64bit/128bit -
carefully taking care of all weird special cases according to the tables

Let's rework our macros and simplify. We still need helper functions in
most cases due to the different parameters types.
Next, we'll only have 32/128bit variants for vfi and vfsq, so special
case the others.
Note that for vfsq, the XxC and erm passed in the simd_data() will never be
set, resulting in the same behavior.

In case we encounter a NaN, we have to return the smallest possible
number, corresponding to either 0 or the maximum negative number. This
seems to differ from IEEE handling as implemented in softfloat, whereby
we return the biggest possible number.
While at it, use float32_to_uint64() in the CLGEB handler.

With commit 0280b3eb7c ("s390x/kvm: use cpu model for gscb on
compat machines"), we removed any calls to kvm_s390_get_gs()
in favour of a different mechanism.
Let's remove the unused kvm_s390_get_gs(), and with it the now
unneeded cap_gs as well.

There are two ways to handle migration for
a CPU object:
(1) like any other device, so it has a dc->vmsd that covers
migration for the whole object. As usual for objects that are a
subclass of a parent that has state, the first entry in the
VMStateDescription field list is VMSTATE_CPU(), which migrates
the cpu_common fields, followed by whatever the CPU's own migration
fields are.
(2) a backwards-compatible mechanism for CPUs that were
originally migrated using manual "write fields to the migration
stream structures". The on-the-wire migration format
for those is based on the 'env' pointer (which isn't a QOM object),
and the cpu_common part of the migration data is elsewhere.
cpu_exec_realizefn() handles both possibilities:
* for type 1, dc->vmsd is set and cc->vmsd is not,
so cpu_exec_realizefn() does nothing, and the standard
"register dc->vmsd for a device" code does everything needed
* for type 2, dc->vmsd is NULL and so we register the
vmstate_cpu_common directly to handle the cpu-common fields,
and the cc->vmsd to handle the per-CPU stuff
You can't change a CPU from one type to the other without breaking
migration compatibility, which is why some guest architectures
are stuck on the cc->vmsd form. New targets should use dc->vmsd.
To avoid new targets to start using type (2), rename cc->vmsd as
cc->legacy_vmsd. The correct field to implement is dc->vmsd (the
DeviceClass one).

Hitting an uretprobe in a s390x TCG guest causes a SIGSEGV. What
happens is:
* uretprobe maps a userspace page containing an invalid instruction.
* uretprobe replaces the target function's return address with the
address of that page.
* When tb_gen_code() is called on that page, tb->size ends up being 0
(because the page starts with the invalid instruction), which causes
virt_page2 to point to the previous page.
* The previous page is not mapped, so this causes a spurious
translation exception.
tb->size must never be 0: even if there is an illegal instruction, the
instruction bytes that have been looked at must count towards tb->size.
So adjust s390x's translate_one() to act this way for both illegal
instructions and instructions that are known to generate exceptions.

We can remove PAGE_WRITE when (internally) marking a page read-only
because it contains translated code. This can get confused when we are

The definition S390_ADAPTER_SUPPRESSIBLE was moved to "cpu.h", per
suggestion of Thomas Huth. From interface design perspective, IMHO, not
a good thing as it belongs to the public interface of
css_register_io_adapters(). We did this because CONFIG_KVM requeires
NEED_CPU_H and Thomas, and other commenters did not like the
consequences of that.
Moving the interrupt related declarations to s390_flic.h was suggested
by Cornelia Huck.

The PoP states:
When EDAT-1 does not apply, and a program interruption due to a
page-translation exception is recognized by the MOVE PAGE
instruction, the contents of the R1 field of the instruction are
stored in bit positions 0-3 of location 162, and the contents of
the R2 field are stored in bit positions 4-7.
If [...] an ASCE-type, region-first-translation,
region-second-translation, region-third-translation, or
segment-translation exception was recognized, the contents of
location 162 are unpredictable.
So we have to write r1/r2 into the lowcore on page-translation
exceptions. Simply handle all exceptions inside our mvpg helper now.

If the CCO bit is set, MVPG should not generate an exception but
report page translation faults via a CC code.
Create a new helper, access_prepare_nf, which can use probe_access_flags
in non-faulting mode, and then handle watchpoints.

legacy_s390_alloc() was required for dealing with the absence of the ESOP
feature -- on old HW (< gen 10) and old z/VM versions (< 6.3).
As z/VM v6.2 (and even v6.3) is no longer supported since 2017 [1]
and we don't expect to have real users on such old hardware, let's drop
legacy_s390_alloc().
Still check+report an error just in case someone still runs on
such old z/VM environments, or someone runs under weird nested KVM
setups (where we can manually disable ESOP via the CPU model).
No need to check for KVM_CAP_GMAP - that should always be around on
kernels that also have KVM_CAP_DEVICE_CTRL (>= v3.15).

Secure execution (aka protected virtualization) guests cannot be
migrated at the moment. If the unpack facility is provided in the cpu
model, a guest may choose to transition to secure mode, making the
guest unmigratable at that point in time. If the machine was explicitly
started with --only-migratable, we would get a failure only when the
guest actually tries to transition; instead, explicitly disallow the
unpack facility if --only-migratable was specified to avoid late
surprises.

An SEV-ES guest does not allow register state to be altered once it has
been measured. When an SEV-ES guest issues a reboot command, Qemu will
reset the vCPU state and resume the guest. This will cause failures under
SEV-ES. Prevent that from occuring by introducing an arch-specific
callback that returns a boolean indicating whether vCPUs are resettable.

Use g2h_untagged in contexts that have no cpu, e.g. the binary
loaders that operate before the primary cpu is created. As a
colollary, target_mmap and friends must use untagged addresses,
since they are used by the loaders.
Use g2h_untagged on values returned from target_mmap, as the
kernel never applies a tag itself.
Use g2h_untagged on all pc values. The only current user of
tags, aarch64, removes tags from code addresses upon branch,
so "pc" is always untagged.
Use g2h with the cpu context on hand wherever possible.
Use g2h_untagged in lock_user, which will be updated soon.

we cannot in principle make the TCG Operations field definitions
conditional on CONFIG_TCG in code that is included by both common_ss
and specific_ss modules.
Therefore, what we can do safely to restrict the TCG fields to TCG-only
builds, is to move all tcg cpu operations into a separate header file,
which is only included by TCG, target-specific code.
This leaves just a NULL pointer in the cpu.h for the non-TCG builds.
This also tidies up the code in all targets a bit, having all TCG cpu
operations neatly contained by a dedicated data struct.

The TCG-specific CPU methods will be moved to a separate struct,
to make it easier to move accel-specific code outside generic CPU
code in the future. Start by moving tcg_initialize().
The new CPUClass.tcg_opts field may eventually become a pointer,
but keep it an embedded struct for now, to make code conversion
easier.

Using strncpy with length equal to the size of target array, GCC 11
reports following warning:
warning: '__builtin_strncpy' specified bound 256 equals destination size [-Wstringop-truncation]
We can prevent this warning by using strpadcpy that copies string
up to specified length, zeroes target array after copied string
and does not raise warning when length is equal to target array
size (and ending '\0' is discarded).

Using get_address() with register identifiers comming from an "r" field
is wrong: if the "r" field designates "r0", we don't read the content
and instead assume 0 - which should only be applied when the register
was specified via "b" or "x".
PoP 5-11 "Operand-Address Generation":
"A zero in any of the B1, B2, X2, B3, or B4 fields indicates the absence
of the corresponding address component. For the absent component, a zero
is used in forming the intermediate sum, regardless of the contents of
general register 0. A displacement of zero has no special significance."
This BUG became visible for CSPG as generated by LLVM-12 in the upstream
Linux kernel (v5.11-rc2), used while creating the linear mapping in
vmem_map_init(): Trying to store to address 0 results in a Low Address
Protection exception.
Debugging this was more complicated than it could have been: The program
interrupt handler in the kernel will try to crash the kernel: doing so, it
will enable DAT. As the linear mapping is not created yet (asce=0), we run
into an addressing exception while tring to walk non-existant DAT tables,
resulting in a program exception loop.
This allows for booting upstream Linux kernels compiled by clang-12. Most
of these cases seem to be broken forever.

Let's interpret values of i3/i4 as documented in the PoP and make
computation of "mask" only based on i3 and i4 and use "pmask" only at the
very end to make sure wrapping is only applied to the high/low doubleword.
With this patch, I can successfully boot a v5.11-rc2 kernel built with
clang-11, and gcc builds keep on working.

The resulting cc is only dependent on the result and the carry-out.
Carry-out and borrow-out are inverses, so are trivially converted.
With tcg ops, it is easier to compute borrow-out than carry-out, so
save result and borrow-out rather than the inputs.
Borrow-out for 64-bit inputs is had via tcg_gen_sub2_i64 directly
into cc_src. Borrow-out for 32-bit inputs is had via extraction
from a normal 64-bit sub (with zero-extended inputs).

Anywhere we create a list of just one item or by prepending items
(typically because order doesn't matter), we can use
QAPI_LIST_PREPEND(). But places where we must keep the list in order
by appending remain open-coded until later patches.
Note that as a side effect, this also performs a cleanup of two minor
issues in qga/commands-posix.c: the old code was performing
new = g_malloc0(sizeof(*ret));
which 1) is confusing because you have to verify whether 'new' and
'ret' are variables with the same type, and 2) would conflict with C++
compilation (not an actual problem for this file, but makes
copy-and-paste harder).

The Control Program Name Code (CPNC) portion of the diag318
info must be set within the SIE block of each VCPU in the
configuration. The handler will iterate through each VCPU
and dirty the diag318_info reg to be synced with KVM on a
subsequent sync_regs call.
Additionally, the diag318 info resets must be handled via
userspace. As such, QEMU will reset this value for each
VCPU during a modified clear, load normal, and load clear
reset event.

Recent upstream Linux uses the MONITOR CALL instruction for things like
BUG_ON() and WARN_ON(). We currently inject an operation exception when
we hit a MONITOR CALL instruction - which is wrong, as the instruction
is not glued to specific CPU features.

DIAGNOSE 0x318 (diag318) is an s390 instruction that allows the storage
of diagnostic information that is collected by the firmware in the case
of hardware/firmware service events.
QEMU handles the instruction by storing the info in the CPU state. A
subsequent register sync will communicate the data to the hypervisor.
QEMU handles the migration via a VM State Description.
This feature depends on the Extended-Length SCCB (els) feature. If
els is not present, then a warning will be printed and the SCLP bit
that allows the Linux kernel to execute the instruction will not be
set.
Availability of this instruction is determined by byte 134 (aka fac134)
bit 0 of the SCLP Read Info block. This coincidentally expands into the
space used for CPU entries, which means VMs running with the diag318
capability may not be able to read information regarding all CPUs
unless the guest kernel supports an extended-length SCCB.
This feature is not supported in protected virtualization mode.

As more features and facilities are added to the Read SCP Info (RSCPI)
response, more space is required to store them. The space used to store
these new features intrudes on the space originally used to store CPU
entries. This means as more features and facilities are added to the
RSCPI response, less space can be used to store CPU entries.
With the Extended-Length SCCB (ELS) facility, a KVM guest can execute
the RSCPI command and determine if the SCCB is large enough to store a
complete reponse. If it is not large enough, then the required length
will be set in the SCCB header.
The caller of the SCLP command is responsible for creating a
large-enough SCCB to store a complete response. Proper checking should
be in place, and the caller should execute the command once-more with
the large-enough SCCB.
This facility also enables an extended SCCB for the Read CPU Info
(RCPUI) command.
When this facility is enabled, the boundary violation response cannot
be a result from the RSCPI, RSCPI Forced, or RCPUI commands.
In order to tolerate kernels that do not yet have full support for this
feature, a "fixed" offset to the start of the CPU Entries within the
Read SCP Info struct is set to allow for the original 248 max entries
when this feature is disabled.
Additionally, this is introduced as a CPU feature to protect the guest
from migrating to a machine that does not support storing an extended
SCCB. This could otherwise hinder the VM from being able to read all
available CPU entries after migration (such as during re-ipl).

clang's C11 atomic_fetch_*() functions only take a C11 atomic type
pointer argument. QEMU uses direct types (int, etc) and this causes a
compiler error when a QEMU code calls these functions in a source file
that also included <stdatomic.h> via a system header file:

used by <stdatomic.h>. Prefix QEMU's APIs with 'q' so that atomic.h
and <stdatomic.h> can co-exist. I checked /usr/include on my machine and
searched GitHub for existing "qatomic_" users but there seem to be none.
This patch was generated using:

One of the goals of having less boilerplate on QOM declarations
is to avoid human error. Requiring an extra argument that is
never used is an opportunity for mistakes.
Remove the unused argument from OBJECT_DECLARE_TYPE and
OBJECT_DECLARE_SIMPLE_TYPE.

Some typedefs and macros are defined after the type check macros.
This makes it difficult to automatically replace their
definitions with OBJECT_DECLARE_TYPE.
Patch generated using:
$ ./scripts/codeconverter/converter.py -i \
--pattern=QOMStructTypedefSplit $(git grep -l '' -- '*.[ch]')
which will split "typdef struct { ... } TypedefName"
declarations.
Followed by:
$ ./scripts/codeconverter/converter.py -i --pattern=MoveSymbols \
$(git grep -l '' -- '*.[ch]')
which will:
- move the typedefs and #defines above the type check macros
- add missing #include "qom/object.h" lines if necessary

Instead of setting CPUState::halted to 1 in s390_cpu_initfn(), use the
start-powered-off property which makes cpu_common_reset() initialize it
to 1 in common code.
Note that this changes behavior by setting cs->halted to 1 on reset, which
didn't happen before.

The binaries move to the root directory, e.g. qemu-system-i386 or
qemu-arm. This requires changes to qtests, CI, etc.

Similar to hw_arch, each architecture defines two sourceset which are placed in
dictionaries target_arch and target_softmmu_arch. These are then picked up
from there when building the per-emulator static_library.
