50989d04d6 hw/arm: Use MachineClass->default_nic in the virt machine
Mark the default NIC via the new MachineClass->default_nic setting
so that the machine-defaults code in vl.c can decide whether the
default NIC is usable or not (for example when compiling with the
"--without-default-devices" configure switch).

d009607d08 Revert "arm/kvm: add support for MTE"
This reverts commit b320e21c48,
which accidentally broke TCG, because it made the TCG -cpu max
report the presence of MTE to the guest even if the board hadn't
enabled MTE by wiring up the tag RAM. This meant that if the guest
then tried to use MTE QEMU would segfault accessing the
non-existent tag RAM:

It's also not clear that the KVM logic is correct either:
MTE defaults to on there, rather than being only on if the
board wants it on.

Revert the whole commit for now so we can sort out the issues.

(We didn't catch this in CI because we have no test cases in
avocado that use guests with MTE support.)

b320e21c48 arm/kvm: add support for MTE
Extend the 'mte' property for the virt machine to cover KVM as
well. For KVM, we don't allocate tag memory, but instead enable the
capability.

If MTE has been enabled, we need to disable migration, as we do not
yet have a way to migrate the tags as well. Therefore, MTE will stay
off with KVM unless requested explicitly.

6c8a108dea target/arm: Use "max" as default cpu for the virt machine with KVM
Now that the cortex-a15 is under CONFIG_TCG, use as default CPU for a
KVM-only build the 'max' cpu.

Note that we cannot use 'host' here because the qtests can run without
any other accelerator (than qtest) and 'host' depends on KVM being
enabled.

5e91b9e03f hw/arm/virt: Make accels in GIC finalize logic explicit
Let's explicitly list out all accelerators that we support when trying to
determine the supported set of GIC versions. KVM was already separate, so
the only missing one is HVF which simply reuses all of TCG's emulation
code and thus has the same compatibility matrix.

a3495d11c4 hw/arm/virt: Consolidate GIC finalize logic
Up to now, the finalize_gic_version() code open coded what is essentially
a support bitmap match between host/emulation environment and desired
target GIC type.

This open coding leads to undesirable side effects. For example, a VM with
KVM and -smp 10 will automatically choose GICv3 while the same command
line with TCG will stay on GICv2 and fail the launch.

This patch combines the TCG and KVM matching code paths by making
everything a 2 pass process. First, we determine which GIC versions the
current environment is able to support, then we go through a single
state machine to determine which target GIC mode that means for us.

After this patch, the only user noticable changes should be consolidated
error messages as well as TCG -M virt supporting -smp > 8 automatically.

The Cortex-A55 is one of the newer armv8.2+ CPUs; in particular
it supports the Privileged Access Never (PAN) feature. Add
a model of this CPU, so you can use a CPU type on the virt
board that models a specific real hardware CPU, rather than
having to use the QEMU-specific "max" CPU type.

Use the base_memmap to build the SMBIOS 19 table which provides the address
mapping for a Physical Memory Array (from spec [1] chapter 7.20).

This was present on i386 from commit c97294ec1b
("SMBIOS: Build aggregate smbios tables and entry point").

The absence of this table is a breach of the specs and is
detected by the FirmwareTestSuite (FWTS), but it doesn't

6a48c64eec hw/arm/virt: Add properties to disable high memory regions
The 3 high memory regions are usually enabled by default, but they may
be not used. For example, VIRT_HIGH_GIC_REDIST2 isn't needed by GICv2.
This leads to waste in the PA space.

Add properties ("highmem-redists", "highmem-ecam", "highmem-mmio") to
allow users selectively disable them if needed. After that, the high
memory region for GICv3 or GICv4 redistributor can be disabled by user,
the number of maximal supported CPUs needs to be calculated based on
'vms->highmem_redists'. The follow-up error message is also improved
to indicate if the high memory region for GICv3 and GICv4 has been
enabled or not.

applied, the memory layout can be changed, introducing possible
migration breakage. For example, VIRT_HIGH_PCIE_MMIO memory region
is disabled or enabled when the optimization is applied or not, with

modifying the source code until more properties are added to allow
users selectively disable those high memory regions.

4a4ff9edc6 hw/arm/virt: Improve high memory region address assignment
There are three high memory regions, which are VIRT_HIGH_REDIST2,
VIRT_HIGH_PCIE_ECAM and VIRT_HIGH_PCIE_MMIO. Their base addresses
are floating on highest RAM address. However, they can be disabled
in several cases.

(1) One specific high memory region is likely to be disabled by
    code by toggling vms->highmem_{redists, ecam, mmio}.

(2) VIRT_HIGH_PCIE_ECAM region is disabled on machine, which is
    'virt-2.12' or ealier than it.

(3) VIRT_HIGH_PCIE_ECAM region is disabled when firmware is loaded
    on 32-bits system.

(4) One specific high memory region is disabled when it breaks the
    PA space limit.

The current implementation of virt_set_{memmap, high_memmap}() isn't
optimized because the high memory region's PA space is always reserved,
regardless of whatever the actual state in the corresponding
vms->highmem_{redists, ecam, mmio} flag. In the code, 'base' and
'vms->highest_gpa' are always increased for case (1), (2) and (3).
It's unnecessary since the assigned PA space for the disabled high
memory region won't be used afterwards.

Improve the address assignment for those three high memory region by
skipping the address assignment for one specific high memory region if
it has been disabled in case (1), (2) and (3). The memory layout may
be changed after the improvement is applied, which leads to potential
migration breakage. So 'vms->highmem_compact' is added to control if
the improvement should be applied. For now, 'vms->highmem_compact' is
set to false, meaning that we don't have memory layout change until it
becomes configurable through property 'compact-highmem' in next patch.

6b2f3ac945 hw/arm/virt: Use "msi-map" devicetree property for PCI
The "msi-parent" property can be used on the PCI node when MSIs do not
contain sideband data (device IDs) [1]. In QEMU, MSI transactions
contain the requester ID, so the PCI node should use the "msi-map"
property instead of "msi-parent". In our case the property describes an
identity map between requester ID and sideband data.

This fixes a warning when passing the DTB generated by QEMU to dtc,
following a recent change to the GICv3 node:

The devicetree specification requires a 'model' property in the root
node. Fix the corresponding dt-validate warning:

In 60592cfed2 ("hw/arm/virt: dt: add kaslr-seed property"), the
kaslr-seed property was added, but the equally as important rng-seed
property was forgotten about, which has identical semantics for a
similar purpose. This commit implements it in exactly the same way as
kaslr-seed. It then changes the name of the disabling option to reflect
that this has more to do with randomness vs determinism, rather than
something particular about kaslr.

e8ca920f3d hw/arm/virt: Fix incorrect non-secure flash dtb node name
In the virt board with secure=on we put two nodes in the dtb
for flash devices: one for the secure-only flash, and one
for the non-secure flash. We get the reg properties for these
correct, but in the DT node name, which by convention includes
the base address of devices, we used the wrong address. Fix it.

Spotted by dtc, which will complain

When CPU-to-NUMA association isn't explicitly provided by users,
the default one is given by mc->get_default_cpu_node_id(). However,
the CPU topology isn't fully considered in the default association
and this causes CPU topology broken warnings on booting Linux guest.

With current implementation of mc->get_default_cpu_node_id(),
CPU#0 to CPU#5 are associated with NODE#0 to NODE#5 separately.
That's incorrect because CPU#0/1/2 should be associated with same
NUMA node because they're seated in same socket.

This fixes the issue by considering the socket ID when the default
CPU-to-NUMA association is provided in virt_possible_cpu_arch_ids().
With this applied, no more CPU topology broken warnings are seen
from the Linux guest. The 6 CPUs are associated with NODE#0/1, but
there are no CPUs associated with NODE#2/3/4/5.

c9ec4cb5e4 hw/arm/virt: Consider SMP configuration in CPU topology
Currently, the SMP configuration isn't considered when the CPU
topology is populated. In this case, it's impossible to provide
the default CPU-to-NUMA mapping or association based on the socket
ID of the given CPU.

This takes account of SMP configuration when the CPU topology
is populated. The die ID for the given CPU isn't assigned since
it's not supported on arm/virt machine. Besides, the used SMP
configuration in qtest/numa-test/aarch64_numa_cpu() is corrcted
to avoid testing failure

7cf3f8d243 hw/arm/virt: Support TCG GICv4
Add support for the TCG GICv4 to the virt board. For the board,
the GICv4 is very similar to the GICv3, with the only difference
being the size of the redistributor frame. The changes here are thus:
 * calculating virt_redist_capacity correctly for GICv4
 * changing various places which were "if GICv3" to be "if not GICv2"
 * the commandline option handling

Note that using GICv4 reduces the maximum possible number of CPUs on
the virt board from 512 to 317, because we can now only fit half as
many redistributors into the redistributor regions we have defined.

f31985a77a hw/arm/virt: Abstract out calculation of redistributor region capacity
In several places in virt.c we calculate the number of redistributors that
fit in a region of our memory map, which is the size of the region
divided by the size of a single redistributor frame. For GICv4, the
redistributor frame is a different size from that for GICv3. Abstract
out the calculation of redistributor region capacity so that we have
one place we need to change to handle GICv4 rather than several.

5a389a9aec hw/arm/virt: Use VIRT_GIC_VERSION_* enum values in create_gic()
Everywhere we need to check which GIC version we're using, we look at
vms->gic_version and use the VIRT_GIC_VERSION_* enum values, except
in create_gic(), which copies vms->gic_version into a local 'int'
variable and makes direct comparisons against values 2 and 3.

For consistency, change this function to check the GIC version
the same way we do elsewhere. This includes not implicitly relying
on the enumeration type values happening to match the integer
'revision' values the GIC device object wants.

78255ce392 hw/arm/virt: Check for attempt to use TrustZone with KVM or HVF
It's not possible to provide the guest with the Security extensions
(TrustZone) when using KVM or HVF, because the hardware
virtualization extensions don't permit running EL3 guest code.
However, we weren't checking for this combination, with the result
that QEMU would assert if you tried it:

$ qemu-system-aarch64 -enable-kvm -machine virt,secure=on -cpu host -display none
Unexpected error in object_property_find_err() at ../../qom/object.c:1304:
qemu-system-aarch64: Property 'host-arm-cpu.secure-memory' not found
Aborted

Check for this combination of options and report an error, in the
same way we already do for attempts to give a KVM or HVF guest the
Virtualization or MTE extensions. Now we will report:

qemu-system-aarch64: mach-virt: KVM does not support providing Security extensions (TrustZone) to the guest CPU

299b4a3ecf hw/arm/virt: Fix gic-version=max when CONFIG_ARM_GICV3_TCG is unset
In TCG mode, if gic-version=max we always select GICv3 even if
CONFIG_ARM_GICV3_TCG is unset. We shall rather select GICv2.
This also brings the benefit of fixing qos tests errors for tests
using gic-version=max with CONFIG_ARM_GICV3_TCG unset.

0942820408 hw/arm/virt: Disable LPA2 for -machine virt-6.2
There is a Linux kernel bug present until v5.12 that prevents
booting with FEAT_LPA2 enabled.  As a workaround for TCG,
disable this feature for machine versions prior to 7.0.
