christos 505573954e Unfortunately (as I expected) the previous change broke: 
sleep
    cmd='set `type "sleep"`; eval echo \$$#'
    which=`eval $cmd`
    echo $which

because the region did not get recorded at all, and it was interpreted as
a single word. I modified the code to keep track when the result of a
backquote expansion has been recorded to avoid recording it twice. I still
feel that this is not the right fix... More to come.

lukem 40d4d52cce * add extra arg to fparseln() - int flags - which is a bitmask. 
current flags allow the `un-escaping' of escaped arguments (i.e,
  don't prefix an escaped argument with the escape char)

This always happens when lo0 is not configured and confuses new users.

tv 070c43b239 accept -c silently with -d; fixes GNU autoconf (among others) that assume 
you can use -c with -d
...but this is NOT a reason for those of you making install procedures
to think this behaviour is `correct'... <grin>

christos b7e4df7784 PR/4547: Joern Clausen: Incorrect argument expansion in backquote variable 
assignment. E.g.
	echo ${foo:=`echo 1 2 3 4`}
prints:
	1 2 3 1 2 3 4
because when the arquments are not quoted, the backquote result
gets recorded twice.  The fix right now is to comment out the
record_region() call in expbackq().  I hope that it does not break
anything else.

briggs 8e1428e600 Support for the Lapis ProColorServer 8 PDS on the SE/30. This prevents 
hangs when trying to use this video card in conjunction with an ethernet
card.  Thanks to David Condon <david@apk.net> for information and testing.

fvdl 0cd2d70c37 * Check for an existing MBR not by looking at the geometry, but by looking 
at used partitions. fdisk may report the number of cylinders > 1024
  correctly if no translation is used.
* Print out the end of the partition as well as the size when editing things.
* Enable the user to specify the BIOS geometry if he/she wishes.
* Fix 1023 / 1024 mixup. The reason BIOSs will return 1023 is an old IBM
  convention to use the last cylinder as diagnostic cylinder. The user
  can still skip the last ('real') cylinder if specified.
* Make some messages more verbose.

pk 46f604677d Avoid several race conditions, especially when a transaction ends in error. 
Guard sw_reg_start() against synchronous completions of the device
strategy routines, avoiding possibly boundless recursion.

  of client disappearing in pasv mode (usually browsers)''
* main() doesn't need envp argument

mhitch f018043286 Fix driver bug when using an RZ23 (and very likely any other drive that 
does a "restore data pointers" when reselected after disconnecting in
the middle of a DMA transfer).  The driver needs a different way to know
which script to continue the DMA transfer.  The message-in for the "restore
data pointers" loses the original "resume" script, and the driver would
attempt to continue the DMA transfer at the beginning of the current DMA
chunk, rather than at the point the disconnect occured.  The result was a
spurious console message, and a trashed filesystem.
