christos 39f224af48 PR/18995: David Laight: libedit fixes for posix conformant sh
The posix 'sh' specification defines vi-mode editing quite tightly.
The netbsd libedit code (used by sh to do this) was missing several
features, there were also minor errors in others.

Compare netbsd sh to the definition available from:
http://www.opengroup.org/onlinepubs/007904975/utilities/sh.html
In particular the following were not supported:
U - undo all changes to line
	| - goto column
Y - yank to end of line
	y - yank
	# - comment out current line
@ - take input from shell alias [1]
G - goto numbered line in history buffer
v - edit history line with vi
_ - append word from last input line
	. - redo last command
Other minor changes have also been made.

[1] This needs the shell to define an appropriate routine to
return the text of the alias. There is no requirement that
such a function exist.

that can be used to block a process after fork(2) or exec(2) calls. The

This feature is designed so that it is esay to attach the process using gdb

thorpej c10a556f9b Change basename(3) and dirname(3) to return a pointer to static
storage, rather than modifying their input arguments. While not
reentrant, this is explcitly allowed by IEEE Std 1003.1-2001 (which
allows either behavior, stating that it is implementation-dependent).

The new semantics are considered less hostile/more useful by most programs
which use basename(3) and/or dirname(3) (several programs in the NetBSD
tree reimplement basename()/dirname() themselves to avoid modification
of the input argument).

This new implementation truncates results to PATH_MAX. The Std does
not address this in the static storage case. However since PATH_MAX
is the maximum pathname length in the Std, this should not be a problem
in practice. Nontheless, it is noted in the BUGS section.

See the basename(3)/dirname(3) regression tests in src/regress/lib/libc.

Inspired by discussion with Niels Provos, related to PR 18647.

thorpej 09a0767aa9 Only use the MKDYNAMICROOT semantics (i.e. -rpath=/lib,/usr/lib and
-dynamic-linker=/libexec/ld.elf_so) if the BINDIR of the program being
built is /bin or /sbin.

The reason we do this is because now all programs *except* those in
/bin and /sbin (i.e. the "special cases") match the default the compiler
uses, which is what is used for things in e.g. xsrc, pkgsrc, and other
random 3rd party programs.

This is done by decoupling where a shlib is installed from how it
is located. Two new variables, SHLIBINSTALLDIR and SHLINKINSTALLDIR,
contain the former information, and key off MKDYNAMICROOT only. SHLIBDIR
and SHLINKDIR contain the latter, and key off MKDYNAMICROOT and BINDIR.

The SHLIBINSTALLDIR, SHLIBDIR, _LIBSODIR, SHLINKINSTALLDIR, and
SHLINKDIR parameters are moved to a new <bsd.shlib.mk>; see bsd.README
for usage details.

tshiozak 19debadf5c fix a bug of setlocale when changing locales with LC_ALL for the first
argunemt and with a string containing many slashes for the second argument.
This bug may cause setlocale() to destroy static datas.

If a setuid program calls this function as 'setlocale(LC_ALL, "");',
this might be vulnerable, although there are few programs having such
vulnerability. This bug probably affects every versions of NetBSD,
including 1.4, 1.5 and 1.6.

XXX: This part of setlocale is unseemly, thus we had better rewrite it in
the future.
