32a561a5d1 Changed traverse() and display() so that errors are reported when 
they are first detected in display(), rather than waiting until later
in traverse().

The old code allowed "Can not read directory" error messages to be
left unreported unless the -R (recurse) option was used.

12f28a9ba6 PC relative segment relocations don't need to be looked at at run-time (such 
relocations occur on the ns32k).

dce8f4f821 add support for being user-mounted. add support for setting uid and 
gid of files, as well as mask for file perms.  this code desperately needs
cleanup.
