0cab28b0fc Reorganize (again) the installation system. 
- Remove historical `script' installer, which was provided for
  4MB RAM systems.
 - Instead we provide `floppy-root' installer, which is composed
  of 2 floppies just like the installation system used in the netbsd-1-2
  days; one floppy contains (GENERIC) kernel and the other contains
  the miniroot.
 - The miniroots for both `ramdisk-root' installation system and
  `floppy-root' installation system are identical.

532d121692 Now that mount knows everything, do not link mount_* with ramdiskbin. 
This might be a temporary fix if the traditional mount (possiblly
built in distrib/utils/x_mount?) turned out more space saver.

9bb5785535 Adjust a couple of things to use less temporary space: 
+ build the passwd file before copying in ramdiskbin
 + don't copy MAKEDEV, run it, then delete it - run it in-place from
   ${.CURDIR}/...../etc.i386/MAKEDEV
Also, use LINK instead of SYMLINK for files under /usr - it's not a
separate filesystem.

Fixes PR misc/11473 and port-i386/11504 (until something else grows
again).

9303852347 All sysinst ports automatically set rc_configured=YES now, so delete 
that text after install/upgrade. Hint at disabling/enabling services
in /etc/rc.conf though.

3f3dfb39a3 For filesystem checks, skip any 'noauto' entries. Avoids problems 
when upgrading a system that has a 'noauto' entry for a floppy
or CD device that has type ffs.

42e47203b6 - Use relative paths in the CRUNCHSPECIAL directives. The fixes miniroot 
builds that are not rooted in /usr/src
- Strip all but the ftp services from etc/services on the miniroot. This
  gives just enough air to make the install work without ENOSPC errors...

f898d4a492 Several changes to our release notes, OK'd by Luke Mewburn: 
* mention additional kernels in binary/kernel/ dir: GENERIC_LAPTOP, etc
  * note that we also include firewall software (besides X, ...)
  * don't Xref the BUGS file, as it's gone
  * update some file sizes (source .tgz files) to match BETA2
  * mention that syssrc contains the source for all architectures
  * Sysinst now allows setting root password and timezone - note that.
  * Explain how to actually install binary packages, giving some
    examples that people may want to install.
  * Mention rawrite32 near rawrite.
  * Don't show preparation of install tape on i386
  * update i386 hardware a bit. This needs to be generated automatically...
  * Many minor nits & typos.

4ecd975981 Change the disktype of the diskimage to what the kernel is looking for to 
detect a 'miniroot' disklabel.  Booting from the diskimage will now get
the real disk geometry and adjust the incore disklabel parameters
accordingly.
Also revert back to using a prototype file - disklabel truncates the
disktype to 15 characters when using the disktab entry, but will use 16
characters when using the prototype file.

sysinst:        tsubai-san says that macppc doesn't suffer from install-related
                pcmcia interrupt problems.  removed those for macppc

25555e2770 prep: point to ZTerm as a MacOS terminal emulator 
point out that some MacOS ftp programs default to ASCII mode
        OF 2 systems reset real-base to default when booted into macos

install: add info on how to get OF to always boot
        also mention that users may need to remove non-apple hardware
        to get their systems to boot (in extreme cases)

05cfcd7bcc - for the example dhcp config, use .(disp .. .disp) instead of a huge .Dl 
block, as we're not using any formatting codes in here.
  improve the comments and formatting of the example
- use /etc/rc.d/dhcpd restart as the example for how to restart the
  dhcp server on a 1.5 box.

cc689750bb Sort obsolete file lists in reverse order, so that subdirectories come

bd16884bf3 Add usr/include/i386/*, so that versions older than 1.4.2 will have 
that directory cleaned out before the upgrade. These files aren't
really obsolete, but removing them before installing the new versions
saves the a 'directory was not empty' message in sysinst, which
needlessly worried users.

b03b643f37 Major overhaul. Cleaned up a lot of explanations, clarified instructions, 
provided more detail when necessary and removed extraneous instructions.

hardware: totally revamped to be more readable and include all known
supported hardware, now matches htdocs/Ports/sparc/hardware.html

install: new section on CD-ROM, netboot has instructions on setting up a
NetBSD server, removed disklabel instructions (miniroot/sysboot's
instructions are clear enough and have error-checking anyways)

prep: reorganized, put in cleaner explanation of SCSI target remapping on
OpenBOOT PROM 1 machines, put in instructions on how to figure out names
ROM uses for SCSI device, put in info about 100BaseTX network cards

upgrade: now points to ../common/upgrade

1e92db558a Add a little gdb script to switch off FFS clustering. This avoids 
buffer cache lockups in INSTALL_TINY (it has very little buffers
to spare). This is the least intrusive way of fixing that.

6b7e1b7c52 Boot from floppy now requires two disk images: 
- a bootable bootfs which contains a spartan md-based `ramdisk'
	  filesystem, which loads the tar file image:
	- instfs, which is constructed from the miniroot filesystem
	  and contains all installation utilities.

The current miniroot image also supersedes the former separate
{bootfs,ramdisk}.sysinst tools.

ead80bd575 Stress that if a match is found between a disk device and a BIOS disk, 
you really should not be changing the geometry values, unless they
look totally ridiculous due to some BIOS bug.

Disable manual entering of initial partition label values when doing
a custom label. The step was redundant. Just go to the label edit
directly, leaving everything but the c and d partitions empty.

30b8888d4a * Change the interface of run_prog: use a flags argument instead of 
seperate booleans. Add flags to run as a plain 'system()' command,
  fullscreen (but on a pty), and chrooted, and implement their
  functionality. Add a bit of TIOCPKT handling code to handle
  programs messing with term settings better.
* Ask to set the root password at the end of an install.
* Remove a few unneeded comments.
* Sprinkle some touchwin() calls here and there to make the output cleaner.
  They shouldn't really be needed, but even normal usage (no syslog
  messages) even left the screen messy sometimes.
* Change some messages around that were apparently swapped by accident and
  thus caused confusion.

16d465114d Add target_realpath(), a function that expands a pathname on the 
"target" filesystem, i.e. a filesystem that will probably be
mounted on /mnt during install/upgrade, but will be / when
the system is booted. Needed to deal with absolute symbolic links.
This function is (unfortunately) a verbatim copy of realpath() from libc,
with prefix handling added.
