f9309d965a fifo8: rename fifo8_peekpop_buf() to fifo8_peekpop_bufptr()
This is to emphasise that the function returns a pointer to the
internal FIFO buffer.

Add the fifo8_drop() helper for clarity.
It is a simple wrapper over fifo8_pop_buf().

23ad571173 util/fifo8: Expose fifo8_pop_buf()
Extract fifo8_pop_buf() from hw/scsi/esp.c and expose
it as part of the <qemu/fifo8.h> API. This function takes
care of non-contiguous (wrapped) FIFO buffer (which is an
implementation detail).

06252bf512 util/fifo8: Rename fifo8_pop_buf() -> fifo8_pop_bufptr()
Since fifo8_pop_buf() return a const buffer (which points
directly into the FIFO backing store). Rename it using the
'bufptr' suffix to better reflect that it is a pointer to
the internal buffer that is being returned. This will help
differentiate with methods *copying* the FIFO data.

d645427057 Include migration/vmstate.h less
In my "build everything" tree, changing migration/vmstate.h triggers a
recompile of some 2700 out of 6600 objects (not counting tests and
objects that don't depend on qemu/osdep.h).

hw/hw.h supposedly includes it for convenience. Several other headers
include it just to get VMStateDescription. The previous commit made
that unnecessary.

Include migration/vmstate.h only where it's still needed. Touching it
now recompiles only some 1600 objects.

59046ec29a migration: consolidate VMStateField.start
The member VMStateField.start is used for two things, partial data
migration for VBUFFER data (basically provide migration for a
sub-buffer) and for locating next in QTAILQ.

The implementation of the VBUFFER feature is broken when VMSTATE_ALLOC
is used. This however goes unnoticed because actually partial migration
for VBUFFER is not used at all.

Let's consolidate the usage of VMStateField.start by removing support
for partial migration for VBUFFER.

8f1e884b38 savevm: Remove all the unneeded version_minimum_id_old (arm)
After commit 767adce2d, they are redundant. This way we don't assign them
except when needed. Once there, there were lots of cases where the ".fields"
indentation was wrong:

     .fields = (VMStateField []) {
and
     .fields =      (VMStateField []) {

Change all the combinations to:

     .fields = (VMStateField[]){

The biggest problem (apart from aesthetics) was that checkpatch complained
when we copy&pasted the code from one place to another.

c4e57af852 util/fifo8: implement push/pop of multiple bytes
The patch adds functions fifo8_push_all() and fifo8_pop_buf() which
can be used respectively to push the content of a memory buffer to the
fifo and to pop multiple bytes obtaining a pointer to the fifo backing
buffer.

In addition, it implements fifo8_num_free() and fifo8_num_used() which
allow to check if a multi-byte operation can be performed.
