82f5181777 kconfig: introduce kconfig files
The Kconfig files were generated mostly with this script:

  for i in `grep -ho CONFIG_[A-Z0-9_]* default-configs/* | sort -u`; do
    set fnord `git grep -lw $i -- 'hw/*/Makefile.objs' `
    shift
    if test $# = 1; then
      cat >> $(dirname $1)/Kconfig << EOF
config ${i#CONFIG_}
    bool

EOF
      git add $(dirname $1)/Kconfig
    else
      echo $i $*
    fi
  done
  sed -i '$d' hw/*/Kconfig
  for i in hw/*; do
    if test -d $i && ! test -f $i/Kconfig; then
      touch $i/Kconfig
      git add $i/Kconfig
    fi
  done

Whenever a symbol is referenced from multiple subdirectories, the
script prints the list of directories that reference the symbol.
These symbols have to be added manually to the Kconfig files.

Kconfig.host and hw/Kconfig were created manually.

b2c929f02b virtio-net: Allow qemu_announce_self to trigger virtio announcements
Expose the virtio-net self announcement capability and allow
qemu_announce_self() to call it.

These announces are caused by something external (i.e. the
announce-self command); they won't trigger if the migration
counter is triggering announces at the same time.

9d8c6a258c virtio-net: Switch to using announce timer
Switch virtio's self announcement to use the AnnounceTimer.
It keeps it's own AnnounceTimer (per device), and starts running it
using a migration post-load and a virtual clock; that way the
announce happens once the guest is actually running.
The timer uses the migration parameters to set the timing of
the repeats.

af3bba761a vhost-net: compile it on all targets that have virtio-net.
This shows a preexisting bug: if a KVM target did not have virtio-net enabled,
it would fail with undefined symbols when vhost was enabled. This must now
be fixed, lest targets that have no virtio-net fail to compile.

56f41de737 vhost-net-user: add stubs for when no virtio-net device is present
hw/net/vhost_net.c needs functions that are declared in net/vhost-user.c: the
vhost-user code is always compiled into QEMU, only the constructor
net_init_vhost_user is unreachable. Also, net/vhost-user.c needs functions
declared in hw/virtio/vhost-stub.c even if no virtio device exists.

Break this dependency. First, add a minimal version of net/vhost-user.c,
with no functionality and no dependency on vhost code. Second, #ifdef out
the calls back to net/vhost-user.c from hw/net/vhost_net.c.

While at it, this patch fixes the CONFIG_VHOST_NET_USE*D* typo.

7b28c61524 vhost-net: move stubs to a separate file
There is no reason for CONFIG_VHOST_NET to be specific to a single target;
it is a host feature that can be add to all targets, as long as they support
the virtio-net device. Currently CONFIG_VHOST_NET depends on CONFIG_KVM,
but ioeventfd support is present in the core memory API and works with
other accelerators as well.

As a first step, move the vhost-net stubs to a separate file. Later, they
will become conditional on CONFIG_VIRTIO_NET, which is not available in .c
files.

2974e916df virtio-net: support RSC v4/v6 tcp traffic for Windows HCK
This commit adds implementation of RX packets
coalescing, compatible with requirements of Windows
Hardware compatibility kit.

The device enables feature VIRTIO_NET_F_RSC_EXT in
host features if it supports extended RSC functionality
as defined in the specification.
This feature requires at least one of VIRTIO_NET_F_GUEST_TSO4,
VIRTIO_NET_F_GUEST_TSO6. Windows guest driver acks
this feature only if VIRTIO_NET_F_CTRL_GUEST_OFFLOADS
is also present.

If the guest driver acks VIRTIO_NET_F_RSC_EXT feature,
the device coalesces TCPv4 and TCPv6 packets (if
respective VIRTIO_NET_F_GUEST_TSO feature is on,
populates extended RSC information in virtio header
and sets VIRTIO_NET_HDR_F_RSC_INFO bit in header flags.
The device does not recalculate checksums in the coalesced
packet, so they are not valid.

In this case:
All the data packets in a tcp connection are cached
to a single buffer in every receive interval, and will
be sent out via a timer, the 'virtio_net_rsc_timeout'
controls the interval, this value may impact the
performance and response time of tcp connection,
50000(50us) is an experience value to gain a performance
improvement, since the whql test sends packets every 100us,
so '300000(300us)' passes the test case, it is the default
value as well, tune it via the command line parameter
'rsc_interval' within 'virtio-net-pci' device, for example,
to launch a guest with interval set as '500000':

'virtio-net-pci,netdev=hostnet1,bus=pci.0,id=net1,mac=00,
guest_rsc_ext=on,rsc_interval=500000'

The timer will only be triggered if the packets pool is not empty,
and it'll drain off all the cached packets.

'NetRscChain' is used to save the segments of IPv4/6 in a
VirtIONet device.

A new segment becomes a 'Candidate' as well as it passed sanity check,
the main handler of TCP includes TCP window update, duplicated
ACK check and the real data coalescing.

An 'Candidate' segment means:
1. Segment is within current window and the sequence is the expected one.
2. 'ACK' of the segment is in the valid window.

Sanity check includes:
1. Incorrect version in IP header
2. An IP options or IP fragment
3. Not a TCP packet
4. Sanity size check to prevent buffer overflow attack.
5. An ECN packet

Even though, there might more cases should be considered such as
ip identification other flags, while it breaks the test because
windows set it to the same even it's not a fragment.

Normally it includes 2 typical ways to handle a TCP control flag,
'bypass' and 'finalize', 'bypass' means should be sent out directly,
while 'finalize' means the packets should also be bypassed, but this
should be done after search for the same connection packets in the
pool and drain all of them out, this is to avoid out of order fragment.

All the 'SYN' packets will be bypassed since this always begin a new'
connection, other flags such 'URG/FIN/RST/CWR/ECE' will trigger a
finalization, because this normally happens upon a connection is going
to be closed, an 'URG' packet also finalize current coalescing unit.

Statistics can be used to monitor the basic coalescing status, the
'out of order' and 'out of window' means how many retransmitting packets,
thus describe the performance intuitively.

Difference between ip v4 and v6 processing:
Fragment length in ipv4 header includes itself, while it's not
included for ipv6, thus means ipv6 can carry a real 65535 payload.

Note that main goal of implementing this feature in software
is to create reference setup for certification tests. In such
setups guest migration is not required, so the coalesced packets
not yet delivered to the guest will be lost in case of migration.

2d0ed5e642 xen: re-name XenDevice to XenLegacyDevice...
...and xen_backend.h to xen-legacy-backend.h

Rather than attempting to convert the existing backend infrastructure to
be QOM compliant (which would be hard to do in an incremental fashion),
subsequent patches will introduce a completely new framework for Xen PV
backends. Hence it is necessary to re-name parts of existing code to avoid
name clashes. The re-named 'legacy' infrastructure will be removed once all
backends have been ported to the new framework.

This patch is purely cosmetic. No functional change.

317639aafd vmxnet3: Move some definitions to header file
pvrdma setup requires vmxnet3 device on PCI function 0 and PVRDMA device
on PCI function 1.
pvrdma device needs to access vmxnet3 device object for several reasons:
1. Make sure PCI function 0 is vmxnet3.
2. To monitor vmxnet3 device state.
3. To configure node_guid accoring to vmxnet3 device's MAC address.

To be able to access vmxnet3 device the definition of VMXNET3State is
moved to a new header file.

1001cf45a7 e1000: indicate dropped packets in HW counters
The e1000 emulation silently discards RX packets if there's
insufficient space in the ring buffer. This leads to errors
on higher-level protocols in the guest, with no indication
about the error cause.

This patch increments the "Missed Packets Count" (MPC) and
"Receive No Buffers Count" (RNBC) HW counters in this case.
As the emulation has no FIFO for buffering packets that can't
immediately be pushed to the guest, these two registers are
practically equivalent (see 10.2.7.4, 10.2.7.33 in
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/embedded/products/networking/82574l-gbe-controller-datasheet.html).

On a Linux guest, the register content will be reflected in
the "rx_missed_errors" and "rx_no_buffer_count" stats from
"ethtool -S", and in the "missed" stat from "ip -s -s link show",
giving at least some hint about the error cause inside the guest.

If the cause is known, problems like this can often be avoided
easily, by increasing the number of RX descriptors in the guest

b187e20f9b hw/net/pcnet-pci: Unify pcnet_ioport_read/write and pcnet_mmio_read/write
The only difference between our implementation of the pcnet ioport
accessors and the mmio accessors is that the former check BCR_DWIO to
see what access widths are permitted for addresses in the aprom range
(0x0..0xf). In fact our failure to do this in the mmio accessors
is a bug (one which was fixed for the ioport accessors in
commit 7ba7974197 in 2011).

The data sheet for the Am79C970A does not describe the DWIO
bit as only applying for I/O space mapped I/O resources and
not memory mapped I/O resources, and our MMIO accessors already
honour DWIO for accesses in the 0x10..0x1f range (since the
pcnet_ioport_{read,write}{w,l} functions check it).

The data sheet for the later but compatible Am79C976 is clearer:
it states specifically "DWIO mode applies to both I/O- and
memory-mapped acceses." This seems to be reasonable evidence
in favour of interpretating the Am79C970A spec as being the same.

(NB: Linux's pcnet driver only supports I/O accesses, so the
MMIO access part of this device is probably untested anyway.)

5d026de8b6 hw/net/pcnet-pci: Convert away from old_mmio accessors
Convert the pcnet-pci device away from using the old_mmio
MemoryRegionOps accessor functions.

This commit is a no-behaviour-change API conversion.
(Since PCNET_PNPMMIO_SIZE is 0x20, the old "addr & 0x10"
check and the new "addr < 0x10" check are exact opposites;
the new code is phrased to be parallel with the
pcnet_io_read/write functions.)

I have left a TODO comment marker because the similarity
between the MMIO and IO accessor behaviour is suspicious
and they could be combined, but this will be left to a
different patch.

The generated qapi_event_send_FOO() take an Error ** argument. They

265b578c58 object: fix OBJ_PROP_LINK_UNREF_ON_RELEASE ambivalence
A link property can be set during creation, with
object_property_add_link() and later with object_property_set_link().

add_link() doesn't add a reference to the target object, while
set_link() does.

Furthemore, OBJ_PROP_LINK_UNREF_ON_RELEASE flags, set during add_link,
says whether a reference must be released when the property is destroyed.
This can lead to leaks if the property was later set_link(), as the
added reference is never released.

Instead, rename OBJ_PROP_LINK_UNREF_ON_RELEASE to OBJ_PROP_LINK_STRONG
and use that has an indication on how the link handle reference
management in set_link().

When we're using the subsection we migrate both
the 'props' and 'tso_props' data; when we're not using
the subsection (to migrate to 2.11 or old machine types) we've
got to choose what to migrate in the main structure.

If we're using the subsection migrate 'props' in the main structure.
If we're not using the subsection then migrate the last one
that changed, which gives behaviour similar to the old behaviour.

A bunch of new TSO fields were introduced by d62644b4 and this bumped
the VMState version; however it's easier for those trying to keep
backwards migration compatibility if these fields are added in a

Move the new fields to a subsection.

94b52958b7 virtio_net: flush uncompleted TX on reset
If the backend could not transmit a packet right away for some reason,
the packet is queued for asynchronous sending. The corresponding vq
element is tracked in the async_tx.elem field of the VirtIONetQueue,
for later freeing when the transmission is complete.

If a reset happens before completion, virtio_net_tx_complete() will push
async_tx.elem back to the guest anyway, and we end up with the inuse flag
of the vq being equal to -1. The next call to virtqueue_pop() is then
likely to fail with "Virtqueue size exceeded".

This can be reproduced easily by starting a guest with an hubport backend
that is not connected to a functional network, eg,

 -device virtio-net-pci,netdev=hub0 -netdev hubport,id=hub0,hubid=0

and no other -netdev hubport,hubid=0 on the command line.

The appropriate fix is to ensure that such an asynchronous transmission
cannot survive a device reset. So for all queues, we first try to send
the packet again, and eventually we purge it if the backend still could
not deliver it.

6461d7e267 fsl-imx6: Swap Ethernet interrupt defines
The sabrelite machine model used by qemu-system-arm is based on the
Freescale/NXP i.MX6Q processor. This SoC has an on-board ethernet
controller which is supported in QEMU using the imx_fec.c module
(actually called imx.enet for this model.)

The include/hw/arm/fsm-imx6.h file defines the interrupt vectors for the
imx.enet device like this:

 #define FSL_IMX6_ENET_MAC_1588_IRQ 118
 #define FSL_IMX6_ENET_MAC_IRQ 119

According to https://www.nxp.com/docs/en/reference-manual/IMX6DQRM.pdf,
page 225, in Table 3-1. ARM Cortex A9 domain interrupt summary,
interrupts are as follows.

150 ENET MAC 0 IRQ
151 ENET MAC 0 1588 Timer interrupt

where

150 - 32 == 118
151 - 32 == 119

In other words, the vector definitions in the fsl-imx6.h file are reversed.

Fixing the interrupts alone causes problems with older Linux kernels:
The Ethernet interface will fail to probe with Linux v4.9 and earlier.
Linux v4.1 and earlier will crash due to a bug in Ethernet driver probe
error handling. This is a Linux kernel problem, not a qemu problem:
the Linux kernel only worked by accident since it requested both interrupts.

For backward compatibility, generate the Ethernet interrupt on both interrupt
lines. This was shown to work from all Linux kernel releases starting with
v3.16.

9473939ed7 virtio-net: add linkspeed and duplex settings to virtio-net
Although linkspeed and duplex can be set in a linux guest via 'ethtool -s',
this requires custom ethtool commands for virtio-net by default.

Introduce a new feature flag, VIRTIO_NET_F_SPEED_DUPLEX, which allows
the hypervisor to export a linkspeed and duplex setting. The user can
subsequently overwrite it later if desired via: 'ethtool -s'.

Linkspeed and duplex settings can be set as:
'-device virtio-net,speed=10000,duplex=full'

where speed is [0...INT_MAX], and duplex is ["half"|"full"].

b20219b645 hw/net: Remove unnecessary header includes
Headers like "hw/loader.h" and "qemu/sockets.h" are not needed in
the hw/net/*.c files. And Some other headers are included via other
headers already, so we can drop them, too.

9af2398977 Include less of the generated modular QAPI headers
In my "build everything" tree, a change to the types in
qapi-schema.json triggers a recompile of about 4800 out of 5100
objects.

The previous commit split up qmp-commands.h, qmp-event.h, qmp-visit.h,
qapi-types.h. Each of these headers still includes all its shards.
Reduce compile time by including just the shards we actually need.

To illustrate the benefits: adding a type to qapi/migration.json now
recompiles some 2300 instead of 4800 objects. The next commit will
improve it further.
