0b516ef0df w32: Add missing version.o to all executables (fix regression)
QEMU executables for w32, w64 had included meta information built from
version.rc. These rules were changed several times some months ago.

The latest version added version.o to the tools, but not to the system
emulations.

This patch adds the meta information to all system emulations again.

f53ec69992 w32, w64: Add build rule for installer
The new rules in Makefile allow building installers for QEMU on Windows
using NSIS, a package which is also available for Linux distributions
(so cross builds are possible).

The rules for NSIS are in qemu.nsi which also uses two new images.

965f486c21 Makefile: pass include directives to dtc via CPPFLAGS, not CFLAGS
The dtc submodule's makefile expects -I include directives to be
in CPPFLAGS, not CFLAGS. Getting this wrong meant that the include
directive would not be applied when generating the dependency .d
files. This in turn meant that we couldn't build libfdt when
doing an out of tree build with clang. (gcc's dependency output
is slightly different from clang in this situation so it happened
to work.)

8a3e8f7fd8 Makefile: Install qemu-img and qemu-nbd man pages only if built
When splitting openSUSE's qemu and qemu-linux-user packages we noticed
that for linux-user-only builds unrelated man pages got installed.
It's surely possible to delete them before packaging, but not installing
them in the first place seems more logical.

fba90ac1d6 win32: fix compilation again
While commit c02817e5bf fixed compilation
without an installed libtool, moving the dependencies to rules.mak does
not work because the version-*-y variables are not defined yet. Building
in a clean tree thus fails.

Revert the commit and remove the dummy /bin/false assignment to LIBTOOL.
This makes the build work, at the price of slightly worse errors when
there are Makefile bugs.

a540f158db configure/Make: Build libfdt from submodule DTC
Configure to use the DTC submodule to build libfdt when no system libfdt
is found. Prompt to install the DTC submodule if --enable-fdt is set but
no DTC can be found.

DTC has no out-of-tree build capability, so the configure will symlink
the Makefile and scripts directory in the out of tree build directory
and pass in all the needed DTC arguments to make out of tree build happen.
Ideally we fix the DTC make to support out of tree, but did it this way to
avoid commits to DTC.

b1999e87b4 Fix TAGS creation
Currently the Makefile creates TAGS for emacs with the command:
    find "$(SRC_PATH)" -name '*.[hc]' -print0 | xargs -0 etags
That works only if xargs ends up invoking etags just once. If xargs runs
etags several times, as it will if there are enough files, then the later
invocations will overwrite the output from the earlier invocations. This
patch uses the etags --append option to fix the bug.

3bc2f570ec build: replace weak symbols with a static library
Weak symbols were a nice idea, but they turned out not to be a good one.
Toolchain support is just too sparse, in particular llvm-gcc is totally
broken.

This patch uses a surprisingly low-tech approach: a static library.
Symbols in a static library are always overridden by symbols in an
object file. Furthermore, if you place each function in a separate
source file, object files for unused functions will not be taken in.
This means that each function can use all the dependencies that it needs
(especially QAPI stuff such as error_setg).

Thus, all stubs are placed in separate object files and put together in
a static library. The library then is linked to all programs.

54c2e50205 build: Fix linking failure for qemu-ga
This patch will fix the following linking failed:

  LINK qemu-ga
gcc: error: qga/../qapi-generated/qga-qapi-types.o: No such file or directory
gcc: error: qga/../qapi-generated/qga-qapi-visit.o: No such file or directory
gcc: error: qga/../qapi-generated/qga-qmp-marshal.o: No such file or directory
make: *** [qemu-ga] Error 1

Commit cdc976b040 changes the
dependencies of qemu-ga to depend "../qapi-generated/qga-qapi-types.o",
which will be expanded to "qga/../qapi-generated/qga-qapi-types.o" when
building qemu-ga.

In top-level Makefile, we defined a target "qapi-generated/qga-qapi-types.o"
which was not equal to "qga/../qapi-generated/qga-qapi-types" in the
Makefile world. So "No such file" error happened when qemu-ga was linking.

The easy approach to fix is to change the target name to
"qga/../qapi-generated/qga-qapi-types.o", but it is weird.

So, in order to solve it more graciously, I move those temporary
files(qga-qapi-*.{c,h}) qemu-ga depends on to qemu-ga/qapi-generated,
this makes dependencies more clearer.

3d9b49254f consolidate qemu_iovec_memset{,_skip}() into single function and use existing iov_memset()
This patch combines two functions into one, and replaces
the implementation with already existing iov_memset() from
iov.c.

The new prototype of qemu_iovec_memset():
  size_t qemu_iovec_memset(qiov, size_t offset, int fillc, size_t bytes)
It is different from former qemu_iovec_memset_skip(), and
I want to make other functions to be consistent with it
too: first how much to skip, second what, and 3rd how many
of it. It also returns actual number of bytes filled in,
which may be less than the requested `bytes' if qiov is
smaller than offset+bytes, in the same way iov_memset()
does.

While at it, use utility function iov_memset() from
iov.h in posix-aio-compat.c, where qiov was used.

Autoconf concept of "datadir" is supposed to be "$prefix/share", not

3179d694a8 Support utf8 chars in pod docs
We've at least one UTF8 char in the qemu texi doc:

 $ grep Tibor qemu-doc.texi
 by Tibor "TS" Schütz.
 $ man ./qemu.1 | grep Tibor
        by Tibor "TS" SchA~Xtz.

This patch allows utf8 in man/pod docs.

Initially it was split into two parts and sent on 2012-02-02.
Resending it again (3rd time) now in merged form. If any
other generalizations of $(POD2MAN) are needed it can be done
in a separate patch. Current form of $(POD2MAN) is choosen
to be able to easily change it if some implementation does
not support utf8 or resulting output has issues with local
man(1) program/macros.

First, add @documentencoding in scripts/texi2pod.pl:

Currently our texi2pod ignores @documentencoding even if it is set
properly in *.texi files. This results in a mojibake in documents
generated from qemu.pod (which is generated from qemu-doc.texi by
texi2pod), because the rest of the tools assumes ASCII encoding.

This patch recognizes first @documentencoding in input and places
it at the beginning of output as =encoding directive.

Second, run pod2man with --utf8 option to enable utf8 in manpages:

This option makes no difference for manpages which contains only
ascii chars. But for manpages with actual UTF8 characters (qemu
docs contains these), this change allows to see real characters
instead of mojibakes or substitutes.

7b93fadf3a Add basic version of bridge helper
This patch adds a helper that can be used to create a tap device attached to
a bridge device. Since this helper is minimal in what it does, it can be
given CAP_NET_ADMIN which allows qemu to avoid running as root while still
satisfying the majority of what users tend to want to do with tap devices.

The way this all works is that qemu launches this helper passing a bridge
name and the name of an inherited file descriptor. The descriptor is one
end of a socketpair() of domain sockets. This domain socket is used to
transmit a file descriptor of the opened tap device from the helper to qemu.

The helper can then exit and let qemu use the tap device.

8d3bc5178f Fix qapi code generation wrt parallel build
Make's multiple output syntax

  x.c x.h: x.template
       gen < x.template

actually invokes the command once for x.c and once for x.h (with differing $@
in each invocation). During a parallel build, the two commands may be invoked
in parallel; this opens up a race, where the second invocation trashes a file
supposedly produced during the first, and now in use by a dependent command.

The various qapi code generators are susceptible to this; fix by making them
generate just one file per invocation.
