b6aed193e5 python: use vm.cmd() instead of vm.qmp() where appropriate
In many cases we just want an effect of qmp command and want to raise
on failure. Use vm.cmd() method which does exactly this.

The commit is generated by command

  git grep -l '\.qmp(' | xargs ./scripts/python_qmp_updater.py

And then, fix self.assertRaises to expect ExecuteError exception in
tests/qemu-iotests/124

d5699c0d4b iotests: Fix status checks
An iotest's 'paused' condition is fickle; it will be reported as true
whenever the job is drained, for example, or when it is in the process
of completing.

030 and 041 contain such checks, we should replace them by checking the
job status instead. (As was done for 129 in commit f9a6256b48
for the 'busy' condition.)

Additionally, when we want to test that a job is paused on error, we
might want to give it some time to actually switch to the paused state.
Do that by waiting on the corresponding JOB_STATUS_CHANGE event. (But
only if they are not already paused; the loops these places are in fetch
all VM events, so they may have already fetched that event from the
queue.)

1670ae7af6 iotests: add qemu_img_map() function
Add a qemu_img_map() function by analogy with qemu_img_measure(),
qemu_img_check(), and qemu_img_info() that all return JSON information.

Replace calls to qemu_img_pipe('map', '--output=json', ...) with this
new function, which provides better diagnostic information on failure.

Note: The output for iotest 211 changes, because logging JSON after it
was deserialized by Python behaves a little differently than logging the
raw JSON document string itself.
(iotests.log() sorts the keys for Python 3.6 support.)

497a30dbb0 qemu-img: Require -F with -b backing image
Back in commit d9f059aa6c (qemu-img: Deprecate use of -b without -F),
we deprecated the ability to create a file with a backing image that
requires qemu to perform format probing. Qemu can still probe older
files for backwards compatibility, but it is time to finish off the
ability to create such images, due to the potential security risk they
present. Update a couple of iotests affected by the change.

b66ff2c298 iotests: Specify explicit backing format where sensible
There are many existing qcow2 images that specify a backing file but
no format. This has been the source of CVEs in the past, but has
become more prominent of a problem now that libvirt has switched to
-blockdev. With older -drive, at least the probing was always done by
qemu (so the only risk of a changed format between successive boots of
a guest was if qemu was upgraded and probed differently). But with
newer -blockdev, libvirt must specify a format; if libvirt guesses raw
where the image was formatted, this results in data corruption visible
to the guest; conversely, if libvirt guesses qcow2 where qemu was
using raw, this can result in potential security holes, so modern
libvirt instead refuses to use images without explicit backing format.

The change in libvirt to reject images without explicit backing format
has pointed out that a number of tools have been far too reliant on
probing in the past. It's time to set a better example in our own
iotests of properly setting this parameter.

iotest calls to create, rebase, and convert are all impacted to some
degree. It's a bit annoying that we are inconsistent on command line
- while all of those accept -o backing_file=...,backing_fmt=..., the
shortcuts are different: create and rebase have -b and -F, while
convert has -B but no -F. (amend has no shortcuts, but the previous
patch just deprecated the use of amend to change backing chains).

86fae10c64 mirror: Fail gracefully for source == target
blockdev-mirror with the same node for source and target segfaults
today: A node is in its own backing chain, so mirror_start_job() decides
that this is an active commit. When adding the intermediate nodes with
block_job_add_bdrv(), it starts the iteration through the subchain with
the backing file of source, though, so it never reaches target and
instead runs into NULL at the base.

While we could fix that by starting with source itself, there is no
point in allowing mirroring a node into itself and I wouldn't be
surprised if this caused more problems later.

So just check for this scenario and error out.

d3c8c67469 block: Skip implicit nodes in query-block/blockstats
Commits 0db832f and 6cdbceb introduced the automatic insertion of filter
nodes above the top layer of mirror and commit block jobs. The
assumption made there was that since libvirt doesn't do node-level
management of the block layer yet, it shouldn't be affected by added
nodes.

This is true as far as commands issued by libvirt are concerned. It only
uses BlockBackend names to address nodes, so any operations it performs
still operate on the root of the tree as intended.

However, the assumption breaks down when you consider query commands,
which return data for the wrong node now. These commands also return
information on some child nodes (bs->file and/or bs->backing), which
libvirt does make use of, and which refer to the wrong nodes, too.

One of the consequences is that oVirt gets wrong information about the
image size and stops the VM in response as long as a mirror or commit
job is running:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1470634

This patch fixes the problem by hiding the implicit nodes created
automatically by the mirror and commit block jobs in the output of
query-block and BlockBackend-based query-blockstats as long as the user
doesn't indicate that they are aware of those nodes by providing a node
name for them in the QMP command to start the block job.

The node-based commands query-named-block-nodes and query-blockstats
with query-nodes=true still show all nodes, including implicit ones.
This ensures that users that are capable of node-level management can
still access the full information; users that only know BlockBackends
won't use these commands.

476fb028bf qemu-iotests/041: Avoid blockdev-add with id
We want to remove the 'id' option for blockdev-add. This removes one

0524e93a3f block: Accept node-name for drive-mirror
In order to remove the necessity to use BlockBackend names in the
external API, we want to allow node-names everywhere. This converts
drive-mirror to accept a node-name without lifting the restriction that
we're operating at a root node.

In case of an invalid device name, the command returns the GenericError
error class now instead of DeviceNotFound, because this is what
qmp_get_root_bs() returns.

b880481579 mirror: Allow target that already has a BlockBackend
We had to forbid mirroring to a target BDS that already had a BB
attached because the node swapping at job completion would add a second
BB and we didn't support multiple BBs on a single BDS at the time. Now
we do, so we can lift the restriction.

As we allow additional BlockBackends for the target, we must expect
other users to be sending requests. There may no requests be in flight
during the graph modification, so we have to drain those users now.

The core part of this patch is a revert of commit 40365552.

Block nodes are now assigned names automatically, therefore the test

0ed82f7a09 iotests: Respect -nodefaults in tests 41 and 55
While -nodefaults is set in $QEMU_OPTIONS, this is currently (wrongly)

on it being created automatically.

1d3ba15acc iotests: Omit length/offset test in 040 and 041
As of a follow-up patch to this one, the length of a mirror block job
will no longer directly depend on the size of the block device;
therefore, drop these checks from this test. Instead, just check whether
the final offset equals the block job length.

As 041 uses the wait_until_completed function from iotests.py, the same
applies there as well which in turn affects tests 030, 055 and 056. On
the other hand, a block job's length does not have to be related to the
length of the image file in the first place, so that check was
questionable anyway.
