d74523a3b3 crypto: Modify the qcrypto_block_create to support creation flags
Expand the signature of qcrypto_block_create to enable the
formation of LUKS volumes with detachable headers. To accomplish
that, introduce QCryptoBlockCreateFlags to instruct the creation
process to set the payload_offset_sector to 0.

a4b740db5e block: Take graph lock for most of .bdrv_open
Most implementations of .bdrv_open first open their file child (which is
an operation that internally takes the write lock and therefore we
shouldn't hold the graph lock while calling it), and afterwards many
operations that require holding the graph lock, e.g. for accessing
bs->file.

This changes block drivers that follow this pattern to take the graph
lock after opening the child node.

79a5586648 block: Add missing GRAPH_RDLOCK annotations
This adds GRAPH_RDLOCK to some driver callbacks that are already called
with the graph lock held, and which will need the annotation because
they access bs->file, but don't have it yet.

This also covers a few callbacks that were not marked GRAPH_RDLOCK
before, but where updating BlockDriver is trivially possible.

e0ee3a8ff7 cpr: relax blockdev migration blockers
Some blockdevs block migration because they do not support sharing across
hosts and/or do not support dirty bitmaps. These prohibitions do not apply
if the old and new qemu processes do not run concurrently, and if new qemu
starts on the same host as old, which is the case for cpr. Narrow the scope
of these blockers so they only apply to normal mode. They will not block
cpr modes when they are added in subsequent patches.

No functional change until a new mode is added.

c8a7fc5179 migration: simplify blockers
Modify migrate_add_blocker and migrate_del_blocker to take an Error **
reason. This allows migration to own the Error object, so that if
an error occurs in migrate_add_blocker, migration code can free the Error
and clear the client handle, simplifying client code. It also simplifies
the migrate_del_blocker call site.

In addition, this is a pre-requisite for a proposed future patch that would
add a mode argument to migration requests to support live update, and
maintain a list of blockers for each mode. A blocker may apply to a single
mode or to multiple modes, and passing Error** will allow one Error object
to be registered for multiple modes.

No functional change.

2848289168 block: add BDRV_BLOCK_COMPRESSED flag for bdrv_block_status()
Functions qcow2_get_host_offset(), get_cluster_offset(),
vmdk_co_block_status() explicitly report compressed cluster types when data
is compressed. However, this information is never passed further. Let's
make use of it by adding new BDRV_BLOCK_COMPRESSED flag for
bdrv_block_status(), so that caller may know that the data range is
compressed. In particular, we're going to use this flag to tweak
"qemu-img map" output.

This new flag is only being utilized by qcow, qcow2 and vmdk formats, as only
those support compression.

4db7ba3b87 block: Call .bdrv_co_create(_opts) unlocked
These are functions that modify the graph, so they must be able to take
a writer lock. This is impossible if they already hold the reader lock.
If they need a reader lock for some of their operations, they should
take it internally.

Many of them go through blk_*(), which will always take the lock itself.
Direct calls of bdrv_*() need to take the reader lock. Note that while
locking for bdrv_co_*() calls is checked by TSA, this is not the case
for the mixed_coroutine_fns bdrv_*(). Holding the lock is still required
when they are called from coroutine context like here!

This effectively reverts 4ec8df0183, but adds some internal locking
instead.

54fde4ff06 qapi block: Elide redundant has_FOO in generated C
The has_FOO for pointer-valued FOO are redundant, except for arrays.
They are also a nuisance to work with. Recent commit "qapi: Start to
elide redundant has_FOO in generated C" provided the means to elide
them step by step. This is the step for qapi/block*.json.

Said commit explains the transformation in more detail.

There is one instance of the invariant violation mentioned there:
qcow2_signal_corruption() passes false, "" when node_name is an empty
string. Take care to pass NULL then.

The previous two commits cleaned up two more.

Additionally, helper bdrv_latency_histogram_stats() loses its output
parameters and returns a value instead.

8393078032 block: introduce bdrv_open_file_child() helper
Almost all drivers call bdrv_open_child() similarly. Let's create a
helper for this.

The only not updated drivers that call bdrv_open_child() to set
bs->file are raw-format and snapshot-access:
    raw-format sometimes want to have filtered child but
        don't set drv->is_filter to true.
    snapshot-access wants only DATA | PRIMARY

Possibly we should implement drv->is_filter_func() handler, to consider
raw-format as filter when it works as filter.. But it's another story.

Note also, that we decrease assignments to bs->file in code: it helps
us restrict modifying this field in further commit.

expensive, so we need a hint from the user to avoid costly checks.

Add a BDRV_REQ_REGISTERED_BUF request flag to indicate that all
QEMUIOVector elements in an I/O request are known to be within
previously registered buffers.

Always pass the flag through to driver read/write functions. There is
little harm in passing the flag to a driver that does not use it.
Passing the flag to drivers avoids changes across many block drivers.
Filter drivers would need to explicitly support the flag and pass
through to their children when the children support it. That's a lot of
code changes and it's hard to remember to do that everywhere, leading to
silent reduced performance when the flag is accidentally dropped.

The only problematic scenario with the approach in this patch is when a
driver passes the flag through to internal I/O requests that don't use
the same I/O buffer. In that case the hint may be set when it should
actually be clear. This is a rare case though so the risk is low.

Some drivers have assert(!flags), which no longer works when
BDRV_REQ_REGISTERED_BUF is passed in. These assertions aren't very
useful anyway since the functions are called almost exclusively by
bdrv_driver_preadv/pwritev() so if we get flags handling right there
then the assertion is not needed.

  qcow2_co_pwritev_compressed_task() pass the request (or part of the

 do_perform_cow_read() has uint64_t argument. And a lot of things in

    ...
    ret = bdrv_replace_test_co_preadv(bs, 0, 1, &qiov, 0);

344acbd62f qcow: Tolerate backing_fmt=
qcow has no space in the metadata to store a backing format, and there
are existing qcow images backed both by raw or by other formats
(usually qcow) images, reliant on probing to tell the difference. On
the bright side, because we probe every time, raw files are marked as
probed and we thus forbid a commit action into the backing file where
guest-controlled contents could change the result of the probe next
time around (the iotest added here proves that).

Still, allowing the user to specify the backing format during
creation, even if we can't record it, is a good thing. This patch
blindly allows any value that resolves to a known driver, even if the
user's request is a mismatch from what probing finds; then the next
patch will further enhance things to verify that the user's request
matches what we actually probe. With this and the next patch in
place, we will finally be ready to deprecate the creation of images
where a backing format was not explicitly specified by the user.

Note that this is only for QemuOpts usage; there is no change to the
QAPI to allow a format through -blockdev.

Add a new iotest 301 just for qcow, to demonstrate the latest
behavior, and to make it easier to show the improvements made in the
next patch.

even though other paths to label out still need the error_propagate().
For an actual example, see sclp_realize().

Without the "when strict", Coccinelle transforms vfio_msix_setup(),
incorrectly. I don't know what exactly "when strict" does, only that
it helps here.

The match of return is narrower than what I want, but I can't figure
out how to express "return where the operand doesn't use @err". For
an example where it's too narrow, see vfio_intx_enable().

Silently fails to convert hw/arm/armsse.c, because Coccinelle gets
confused by ARMSSE being used both as typedef and function-like macro
there.  Converted manually.

Line breaks tidied up manually. One nested declaration of @local_err

7b8e485742 block: Add flags to bdrv(_co)_truncate()
Now that block drivers can support flags for .bdrv_co_truncate, expose
the parameter in the node level interfaces bdrv_co_truncate() and
bdrv_truncate().

b92902dfea block: pass BlockDriver reference to the .bdrv_co_create
This will allow the reuse of a single generic .bdrv_co_create
implementation for several drivers.
No functional changes.

c80d8b06cf block: Add @exact parameter to bdrv_co_truncate()
We have two drivers (iscsi and file-posix) that (in some cases) return
success from their .bdrv_co_truncate() implementation if the block
device is larger than the requested offset, but cannot be shrunk. Some
callers do not want that behavior, so this patch adds a new parameter
that they can use to turn off that behavior.

This patch just adds the parameter and lets the block/io.c and
block/block-backend.c functions pass it around. All other callers
always pass false and none of the implementations evaluate it, so that
this patch does not change existing behavior. Future patches take care
of that.

26536c7fc2 block: Do not truncate file node when formatting
There is no reason why the format drivers need to truncate the protocol
node when formatting it. When using the old .bdrv_co_create_ops()
interface, the file will be created with no size option anyway, which
generally gives it a size of 0. (Exceptions are block devices, which
cannot be truncated anyway.)

When using blockdev-create, the user must have given the file node some
size anyway, so there is no reason why we should override that.

qed is an exception, it needs the file to start completely empty (as
explained by c743849bee).

d861ab3acf block: Add BlockBackend.ctx
This adds a new parameter to blk_new() which requires its callers to
declare from which AioContext this BlockBackend is going to be used (or
the locks of which AioContext need to be taken anyway).

The given context is only stored and kept up to date when changing
AioContexts. Actually applying the stored AioContext to the root node
is saved for another commit.
