7bd9b0b41d hw/audio/virtio-snd: Remove unnecessary "exec/tswap.h" header
We were including the "exec/tswap.h" header to get
target_words_bigendian() declaration, but since commit a276ec8e26
("hw/audio/virtio-snd: Always use little endian audio format")
removed this method call, we don't need this header anymore.

7fc6611cad hw/audio/virtio-sound: fix heap buffer overflow
Currently, the guest may write to the device configuration space,
whereas the virtio sound device specification in chapter 5.14.4
clearly states that the fields in the device configuration space
are driver-read-only.

Remove the set_config function from the virtio_snd class.

This also prevents a heap buffer overflow. See QEMU issue #2296.

7d14471a12 hw/audio/virtio-snd: fix invalid param check
Commit 9b6083465f ("virtio-snd: check for invalid param shift
operands") tries to prevent invalid parameters specified by the
guest. However, the code is not correct.

Change the code so that the parameters format and rate, which are
a bit numbers, are compared with the bit size of the data type.

9b6083465f virtio-snd: check for invalid param shift operands
When setting the parameters of a PCM stream, we compute the bit flag
with the format and rate values as shift operand to check if they are
set in supported_formats and supported_rates.

If the guest provides a format/rate value which when shifting 1 results
in a value bigger than the number of bits in
supported_formats/supported_rates, we must report an error.

Previously, this ended up triggering the not reached assertions later
when converting to internal QEMU values.

98e77e3dd8 virtio-snd: add max size bounds check in input cb
When reading input audio in the virtio-snd input callback,
virtio_snd_pcm_in_cb(), we do not check whether the iov can actually fit
the data buffer. This is because we use the buffer->size field as a
total-so-far accumulator instead of byte-size-left like in TX buffers.

This triggers an out of bounds write if the size of the virtio queue
element is equal to virtio_snd_pcm_status, which makes the available
space for audio data zero. This commit adds a check for reaching the
maximum buffer size before attempting any writes.

731655f87f virtio-snd: rewrite invalid tx/rx message handling
The current handling of invalid virtqueue elements inside the TX/RX virt
queue handlers is wrong.

They are added in a per-stream invalid queue to be processed after the
handler is done examining each message, but the invalid message might
not be specifying any stream_id; which means it's invalid to add it to
any stream->invalid queue since stream could be NULL at this point.

This commit moves the invalid queue to the VirtIOSound struct which
guarantees there will always be a valid temporary place to store them
inside the tx/rx handlers. The queue will be emptied before the handler
returns, so the queue must be empty at any other point of the device's
lifetime.

a45f09935c virtio-snd: Enhance error handling for invalid transfers
This patch improves error handling in virtio_snd_handle_tx_xfer()
and virtio_snd_handle_rx_xfer() in the VirtIO sound driver. Previously,
'goto' statements were used for error paths, leading to unnecessary
processing and potential null pointer dereferences. Now, 'continue' is
used to skip the rest of the current loop iteration for errors such as
message size discrepancies or null streams, reducing crash risks.

551ef0fa05 hw/audio/virtio-sound: mark the device as unmigratable
The virtio-sound device is currently not migratable. QEMU crashes
on the source machine at some point during the migration with a
segmentation fault.

Even with this bug fixed, the virtio-sound device doesn't migrate
the state of the audio streams. For example, running streams leave
the device on the destination machine in a broken condition.

Mark the device as unmigratable until these issues have been fixed.

f785618184 virtio-sound: add realize() error cleanup path
QEMU crashes on exit when a virtio-sound device has failed to
realise. Its vmstate field was not cleaned up properly with
qemu_del_vm_change_state_handler().

This patch changes the realize() order as

1. Validate the given configuration values (no resources allocated
by us either on success or failure)
2. Try AUD_register_card() and return on failure (no resources allocated
   by us on failure)
3. Initialize vmstate, virtio device, heap allocations and stream
   parameters at once.
If error occurs, goto error_cleanup label which calls
virtio_snd_unrealize(). This cleans up all resources made in steps
   1-3.

18a752810f virtio-sound: implement audio output (TX)
Handle output IO messages in the transmit (TX) virtqueue.

It allocates a VirtIOSoundPCMBuffer for each IO message and copies the
data buffer to it. When the IO buffer is written to the host's sound
card, the guest will be notified that it has been consumed.

The lifetime of an IO message is:

1. Guest sends IO message to TX virtqueue.
2. QEMU adds it to the appropriate stream's IO buffer queue.
3. Sometime later, the host audio backend calls the output callback,
virtio_snd_pcm_out_cb(), which is defined with an AUD_open_out()
call. The callback gets an available number of bytes the backend can
receive. Then it writes data from the IO buffer queue to the backend.
If at any time a buffer is exhausted, it is returned to the guest as
   completed.
4. If the guest releases the stream, its buffer queue is flushed by
attempting to write any leftover data to the audio backend and
releasing all IO messages back to the guest. This is how according to
the spec the guest knows the release was successful.

eb9ad377bb virtio-sound: handle control messages and streams
Receive guest requests in the control (CTRL) queue of the virtio sound
device and reply with a NOT SUPPORTED error to all control commands.

The receiving handler is virtio_snd_handle_ctrl(). It stores all control
messages in the queue in the device's command queue. Then it calls
virtio_snd_process_cmdq() to handle each message.

The handler is process_cmd() which replies with VIRTIO_SND_S_NOT_SUPP.
