903cb1bf39 tests/qemu-iotests: Explicit usage of Python 3 (scripts with __main__)
Use the program search path to find the Python 3 interpreter.

Patch created mechanically by running:

  $ sed -i "s,^#\!/usr/bin/\(env\ \)\?python$,#\!/usr/bin/env python3," \
       $(git grep -l 'if __name__.*__main__')

103cbc771e iotests: Restrict file Python tests to file
Most of our Python unittest-style tests only support the file protocol.
You can run them with any other protocol, but the test will simply
ignore your choice and use file anyway.

We should let them signal that they require the file protocol so they
are skipped when you want to test some other protocol.

f03d9d243f iotests: add pause_wait
Split out the pause command into the actual pause and the wait.
Not every usage presently needs to resubmit a pause request.

The intent with the next commit will be to explicitly disallow
redundant or meaningless pause/resume requests, so the tests
need to become more judicious to reflect that.

bc11aee2ac iotests: Make 055 less flaky
First of all, test 055 does a valiant job of invoking pause_drive()
sometimes, but that is worth nothing without blkdebug. So the first
thing to do is to sprinkle a couple of "blkdebug::" in there -- with the
exception of the transaction tests, because the blkdebug break points
make the transaction QMP command hang (which is bad). In that case, we
can get away with throttling the block job that it effectively is
paused.

Then, 055 usually does not pause the drive before starting a block job
that should be cancelled. This means that the backup job might be
completed already before block-job-cancel is invoked; thus making the
test either fail (currently) or moot if cancel_and_wait() ignored this
condition. Fix this by pausing the drive before starting the job.

2c93c5cb43 qemu-iotests: Avoid unnecessary sleeps
Test cases 030, 041 and 055 used to sleep for a second after calling
block-job-pause to make sure that the block job had time to actually
get into paused state. We can instead poll its status and use that one
second only as a timeout.

The tests also slept a second for checking that the block jobs don't
make progress while being paused. Half a second is more than enough for
this.

These changes reduce the total time for the three tests by 25 seconds on
my laptop (from 155 seconds to 130).

4e9e4323d5 backup: Use real permissions in backup block job
The backup block job doesn't have very complicated requirements: It
needs to read from the source and write to the target, but it's fine
with either side being changed. The only restriction is that we can't
resize the image because the job uses a cached value.

qemu-iotests 055 needs to be changed because it used a target which was
already attached to a virtio-blk device. The permission system correctly
forbids this (virtio-blk can't accept another writer with its default
share-rw=off).

819cec0114 iotest 055: refactor and speed up
Source disk is created and filled with test data before each test case.
Instead initialize it once for the whole unit.

Test disk filling patterns are merged into one pattern.

Also TestSetSpeed used different image_len for source and target (by
mistake) - this is automatically fixed here.

b7e4fa2242 block: Accept node-name for drive-backup
In order to remove the necessity to use BlockBackend names in the
external API, we want to allow node-names everywhere. This converts
drive-backup and the corresponding transaction action to accept a
node-name without lifting the restriction that we're operating at a root
node.

In case of an invalid device name, the command returns the GenericError
error class now instead of DeviceNotFound, because this is what
qmp_get_root_bs() returns.

b53169eae0 blockdev: add sync mode to drive-backup QMP command
The drive-backup command is similar to the drive-mirror command, except
no guest data written after the command executes gets copied. Add a
sync mode argument which determines whether the entire disk is copied,
just allocated clusters, or only clusters being written to by the guest.

Currently only sync mode 'full' is supported - it copies the entire disk.
For read-only point-in-time snapshots we may only need sync mode 'none'
since the target can be a qcow2 file using the guest's disk as its
backing file (no need to copy the entire disk). Finally, sync mode
'top' is useful if we wish to preserve the backing chain.

Note that this patch just adds the sync mode argument to drive-backup.
It does not implement sync modes 'top' or 'none'. This patch is
necessary so we can add a drive-backup HMP command that behaves like the
existing drive-mirror HMP command and takes a sync mode.
