e4ada29e90 Make default boot order machine specific
This patch makes default boot order machine specific instead of
set globally. The default boot order can be set per machine in
QEMUMachine boot_order. This also allows a machine to receive a
NULL boot order when -boot isn't used and take an appropriate action
accordingly. This helps machine boots from the devices as set in
guest's non-volatile memory location in case no boot order is
provided by the user.

1422e32db5 net: reorganize headers
Move public headers to include/net, and leave private headers in net/.
Put the virtio headers in include/net/tap.h, removing the multiple copies
that existed.  Leave include/net/tap.h as the interface for NICs, and
net/tap_int.h as the interface for OS-specific parts of the tap backend.

2d0d2837dc Support default block interfaces per QEMUMachine
There are QEMUMachines that have neither IF_IDE nor IF_SCSI as a
default/standard interface to their block devices / drives. Therefore,
this patch introduces a new field default_block_type per QEMUMachine
struct. The prior use_scsi field becomes thereby obsolete and is
replaced through .default_block_type = IF_SCSI.

This patch also changes the default for s390x to IF_VIRTIO and
removes an early hack that converts IF_IDE drives.
Other parties have already claimed interest (e.g. IF_SD for exynos)

To create a sane default, for machines that dont specify a
default_block_type, this patch makes IF_IDE = 0 and IF_NONE = 1.
I checked all users of IF_NONE (blockdev.c and ww/device-hotplug.c)
as well as IF_IDE and it seems that it is ok to change the defines -
in other words, I found no obvious (to me) assumption in the code
regarding IF_NONE==0. IF_NONE is only set if there is an
explicit if=none. Without if=* the interface becomes IF_DEFAULT.

I would suggest to have some additional care, e.g. by letting
this patch sit some days in the block tree.

8c7c3c58e3 s390: Fix ram_size updating in machine init
The global variable 'ram_size' is hidden by the local variable
declaration in s390_init(). Since we want to update the global
ram size in certain cases we must not use a local ram_size
variable.
- This fixes booting with unusual ram sizes like -m 67001
- This changes behaviour back to the situation before commit
  5f072e1f30
  (create struct for machine initialization arguments)

559a17a143 s390: sclp event support
Several SCLP features are considered to be events. Those events don't
provide SCLP commands on their own, instead they are all based on
Read Event Data, Write Event Data, Write Event Mask and the service
interrupt. Follow-on patches will provide SCLP's Signal Quiesce (via
system_powerdown) and the ASCII console.
Further down the road the sclp line mode console and configuration
change events (e.g. cpu hotplug) can be implemented.

a8170e5e97 Rename target_phys_addr_t to hwaddr
target_phys_addr_t is unwieldly, violates the C standard (_t suffixes are
reserved) and its purpose doesn't match the name (most target_phys_addr_t
addresses are not target specific).  Replace it with a finger-friendly,
standards conformant hwaddr.

Outstanding patchsets can be fixed up with the command

  git rebase -i --exec 'find -name "*.[ch]"
                        | xargs s/target_phys_addr_t/hwaddr/g' origin

5f072e1f30 create struct for machine initialization arguments
This should help us to:
- More easily add or remove machine initialization arguments without
  having to change every single machine init function;
- More easily make mechanical changes involving the machine init
  functions in the future;
- Let machine initialization forward the init arguments to other
  functions more easily.

This change was half-mechanical process: first the struct was added with
the local ram_size, boot_device, kernel_*, initrd_*, and cpu_model local
variable initialization to all functions. Then the compiler helped me
locate the local variables that are unused, so they could be removed.

This patch simply disables CDROM, SD card and floppy support for the

get added which has currently no backing on s390.

118a897743 S390: fix error handling on kernel and initrd failures
If the user specifies a non-existing or non-accessable kernel or initrd
qemu does not fail, instead it ipls into the system, which then falls
into a program check loop due to the zeroed memory with no kernel.
Lets add some sanity checks.

1edb493490 s390: Rework kernel loading: supports elf and newer kernels
This reworks the image loading on s390.

Newer kernels will not always have a 0dd0 (basr 13,0) at address 0x10000.
We must not rely on specific code at certain  addresses. This check was
introduced to warn users that tried to load vmlinux, since ELF loading
was not supported. Lets wire that up. If elf loading fails, we assume
that this is a standard kernel image and load that via load_image_targphys.
This patch also changes all other users of load_image to
load_image_targphys to be consistent. (the elf loader registers the kernel
as rom).

c5705a7728 vmstate, memory: decouple vmstate from memory API
Currently creating a memory region automatically registers it for
live migration.  This differs from other state (which is enumerated
in a VMStateDescription structure) and ties the live migration code
into the memory core.

Decouple the two by introducing a separate API, vmstate_register_ram(),
for registering a RAM block for migration.  Currently the same
implementation is reused, but later it can be moved into a separate list,
and registrations can be moved to VMStateDescription blocks.

854e42f3e8 s390: Fix cpu shutdown for KVM
On s390 a shutdown is the state of all CPUs being either stopped
or disabled (for interrupts) waiting. We have to track the overall
number of running CPUs to call the shutdown sequence accordingly.
This patch implements the counting and shutdown handling for the
kvm path in qemu.
Lets also wrap changes to env->halted and env->exception_index.

When overriding this line, we have to ensure to also copy the \0 to
avoid false lines, for example, -append "root=/dev/vda" will result in

22486aa04a s390x: fix memory detection for guests > 64GB
the s390 memory detection has a 16bit field that specifies the amount of
increments. This patch adopts the memory size to always fit into that
scheme. This also fixes virtio detection for these guests, since the
descriptor page is located after the main memory.

8d5192ee15 s390x: virtio machine storage keys
For emulation (and migration) we need to know about the guest's storage keys.
These are separate from actual RAM contents, so we need to allocate them in
parallel to RAM.

While touching the file, this patch also adjusts the hypercall function
to a new syntax that aligns better with tcg emulated code.

54f7b4a396 Replace cpu_physical_memory_rw were possible
Using cpu_physical_memory_read, cpu_physical_memory_write and ldub_phys
improves readability and allows removing some type casts.

lduw_phys and ldl_phys were not used because both require aligned
addresses. Therefore it is not possible to simply replace existing
calls by one of these functions.

1724f04985 qemu_ram_alloc: Add DeviceState and name parameters
These will be used to generate unique id strings for ramblocks.  The name
field is required, the device pointer is optional as most callers don't
have a device.  When there's no device or the device isn't a child of
a bus implementing BusInfo.get_dev_path, the name should be unique for
the platform.

18846dee1a block: Catch attempt to attach multiple devices to a blockdev
For instance, -device scsi-disk,drive=foo -device scsi-disk,drive=foo
happily creates two SCSI disks connected to the same block device.
It's all downhill from there.

Device usb-storage deliberately attaches twice to the same blockdev,
which fails with the fix in place.  Detach before the second attach
there.

Also catch attempt to delete while a guest device model is attached.

f8b6cc0070 qdev: Decouple qdev_prop_drive from DriveInfo
Make the property point to BlockDriverState, cutting out the DriveInfo
middleman.  This prepares the ground for block devices that don't have
a DriveInfo.

Currently all user-defined ones have a DriveInfo, because the only way
to define one is -drive & friends (they go through drive_init()).
DriveInfo is closely tied to -drive, and like -drive, it mixes
information about host and guest part of the block device.  I'm
working towards a new way to define block devices, with clean
host/guest separation, and I need to get DriveInfo out of the way for
that.

Fortunately, the device models are perfectly happy with
BlockDriverState, except for two places: ide_drive_initfn() and
scsi_disk_initfn() need to check the DriveInfo for a serial number set
with legacy -drive serial=...  Use drive_get_by_blockdev() there.

Device model code should now use DriveInfo only when explicitly
dealing with drives defined the old way, i.e. without -device.

fe270d044d target-s390: add firmware code
This patch adds a firmware blob to the S390 target. The blob is a simple
implementation of a virtio client that tries to read the second stage
bootloader from sectors described as of offset 0x20 in the MBR.

In combination with an updated zipl this allows for booting from virtio
block devices. This firmware is built from the same sources as the second
stage bootloader. You can find a virtio capable s390-tools in this repo:

ea375f9ab8 KVM: Rework VCPU state writeback API
This grand cleanup drops all reset and vmsave/load related
synchronization points in favor of four(!) generic hooks:

- cpu_synchronize_all_states in qemu_savevm_state_complete
  (initial sync from kernel before vmsave)
- cpu_synchronize_all_post_init in qemu_loadvm_state
  (writeback after vmload)
- cpu_synchronize_all_post_init in main after machine init
- cpu_synchronize_all_post_reset in qemu_system_reset
  (writeback after system reset)

These writeback points + the existing one of VCPU exec after
cpu_synchronize_state map on three levels of writeback:

- KVM_PUT_RUNTIME_STATE (during runtime, other VCPUs continue to run)
- KVM_PUT_RESET_STATE   (on synchronous system reset, all VCPUs stopped)
- KVM_PUT_FULL_STATE    (on init or vmload, all VCPUs stopped as well)

This level is passed to the arch-specific VCPU state writing function
that will decide which concrete substates need to be written. That way,
no writer of load, save or reset functions that interact with in-kernel
KVM states will ever have to worry about synchronization again. That
also means that a lot of reasons for races, segfaults and deadlocks are
eliminated.

cpu_synchronize_state remains untouched, just as Anthony suggested. We
continue to need it before reading or writing of VCPU states that are
also tracked by in-kernel KVM subsystems.

Consequently, this patch removes many cpu_synchronize_state calls that
are now redundant, just like remaining explicit register syncs.

98b19252cf virtio-console: qdev conversion, new virtio-serial-bus
This commit converts the virtio-console device to create a new
virtio-serial bus that can host console and generic serial ports. The
file hosting this code is now called virtio-serial-bus.c.

The virtio console is now a very simple qdev device that sits on the
virtio-serial-bus and communicates between the bus and qemu's chardevs.

This commit also includes a few changes to the virtio backing code for
pci and s390 to spawn the virtio-serial bus.

As a result of the qdev conversion, we get rid of a lot of legacy code.
The old-style way of instantiating a virtio console using

    -virtioconsole ...

is maintained, but the new, preferred way is to use

    -device virtio-serial -device virtconsole,chardev=...

With this commit, multiple devices as well as multiple ports with a
single device can be supported.

For multiple ports support, each port gets an IO vq pair. Since the
guest needs to know in advance how many vqs a particular device will
need, we have to set this number as a property of the virtio-serial
device and also as a config option.

In addition, we also spawn a pair of control IO vqs. This is an internal
channel meant for guest-host communication for things like port
open/close, sending port properties over to the guest, etc.

This commit is a part of a series of other commits to get the full
implementation of multiport support. Future commits will add other
support as well as ride on the savevm version that we bump up here.

Currently only the S390 KVM target works. To keep users from accidently not
using KVM, let's not even initialize the machine when KVM is not used.

a1e4b07f04 S390: Loop through virtio console devices
We used to always create one single virtio console device. This breaks when
either zero of multiple virtio console devices are requested, so let's use
the same code as on x86.

986c5f7854 Set default console to virtio on S390x
All "normal" system emulation targets in qemu I'm aware of display
output on either VGA or serial output.

Our S390x virtio machine doesn't have such kind of legacy hardware. So
instead we need to default to a virtio console.

Add flags to QEMUMachine to indicate which kind of default devices make
sense for the machine in question.  Use it for S390x: enable virtcon,
disable serial, parallel and vga.
