f0ab6f1096 block/vdi: Add locking for parallel requests
When allocating a new cluster, the first write to it must be the one
doing the allocation, because that one pads its write request to the
cluster size; if another write to that cluster is executed before it,
that write will be overwritten due to the padding.

See https://bugs.launchpad.net/qemu/+bug/1422307 for what can go wrong
without this patch.

0d0d7f47b4 block: remove BLOCK_OPT_NOCOW from vdi_create_opts
In commit 7074786, the need for NOCOW was removed from the vdi driver,
as we removed the the posix calls. However, the BLOCK_OPT_NOCOW was not
removed from vdi_create_opts. This was a mistake - remove the opt from
there as well.

d20418ee51 block/vdi: Limit maximum size even futher
The block layer read and write functions do not like requests which are
bigger than INT_MAX bytes. Since the VDI bmap is read and written in a
single operation, its size is therefore limited accordingly. This
reduces the maximum VDI image size supported by QEMU to half of what it
currently is (down to approximately 512 TB).

The VDI test 084 has to be adapted accordingly. Actually, one could
clearly see that it was broken from the "Could not open
'TEST_DIR/t.IMGFMT': Invalid argument" line for an image which was
supposed to work just fine.

bfb197e0d9 block: Eliminate BlockDriverState member device_name[]
device_name[] can become non-empty only in bdrv_new_root() and
bdrv_move_feature_fields(). The latter is used only to undo damage
done by bdrv_swap(). The former is called only by blk_new_with_bs().
Therefore, when a BlockDriverState's device_name[] is non-empty, then
it's been created with a BlockBackend, and vice versa. Furthermore,
blk_new_with_bs() keeps the two names equal.

Therefore, device_name[] is redundant. Eliminate it.

c2eb918e32 block: round up file size to nearest sector
Currently the file size requested by user is rounded down to nearest
sector, causing the actual file size could be a bit less than the size
user requested. Since some formats (like qcow2) record virtual disk
size in bytes, this can make the last few bytes cannot be accessed.

This patch fixes it by rounding up file size to nearest sector so that
the actual file size is no less than the requested file size.

5839e53bbc block: Use g_new() & friends where that makes obvious sense
g_new(T, n) is neater than g_malloc(sizeof(T) * n). It's also safer,
for two reasons. One, it catches multiplication overflowing size_t.
Two, it returns T * rather than void *, which lets the compiler catch
more type errors.

Patch created with Coccinelle, with two manual changes on top:

* Add const to bdrv_iterate_format() to keep the types straight

* Convert the allocation in bdrv_drop_intermediate(), which Coccinelle
  inexplicably misses

70747862f1 block: vdi - use block layer ops in vdi_create, instead of posix calls
Use the block layer to create, and write to, the image file in the
VDI .bdrv_create() operation.

This has a couple of benefits: Images can now be created over protocols,

the underlying file protocol appropriate for the host OS can be relied
upon.

Also some minor cleanup for error handling.

4ab1559085 qemu-img create: add 'nocow' option
Add 'nocow' option so that users could have a chance to set NOCOW flag to
newly created files. It's useful on btrfs file system to enhance performance.

Btrfs has low performance when hosting VM images, even more when the guest
in those VM are also using btrfs as file system. One way to mitigate this bad
performance is to turn off COW attributes on VM files. Generally, there are
two ways to turn off NOCOW on btrfs: a) by mounting fs with nodatacow, then
all newly created files will be NOCOW. b) per file. Add the NOCOW file
attribute. It could only be done to empty or new files.

This patch tries the second way, according to the option, it could add NOCOW
per file.

For most block drivers, since the create file step is in raw-posix.c, so we
can do setting NOCOW flag ioctl in raw-posix.c only.

But there are some exceptions, like block/vpc.c and block/vdi.c, they are
creating file by calling qemu_open directly. For them, do the same setting
NOCOW flag ioctl work in them separately.

3ac216270a block: change default of .has_zero_init to 0
.has_zero_init defaults to 1 for all formats and protocols.

this is a dangerous default since this means that all
new added drivers need to manually overwrite it to 0 if
they do not ensure that a device is zero initialized
after bdrv_create().

if a driver needs to explicitly set this value to
1 its easier to verify the correctness in the review process.

during review of the existing drivers it turned out
that ssh and gluster had a wrong default of 1.
both protocols support host_devices as backend
which are not by default zero initialized. this
wrong assumption will lead to possible corruption
if qemu-img convert is used to write to such a backend.

vpc and vmdk also defaulted to 1 altough they support
fixed respectively flat extends. this has to be addresses
in separate patches. both formats as well as the mentioned
ssh and gluster are turned to the default of 0 with this
patch for safety.

a similar problem with the wrong default existed for
iscsi most likely because the driver developer did
oversee the default value of 1.

3d46a75aa5 vdi: basic conversion to coroutines
Even a basic conversion changing the bdrv_aio_readv/bdrv_aio_writev calls
to bdrv_co_readv/bdrv_co_writev, and callbacks to goto statements can
eliminate a lot of code. This is because error handling is simplified
and indirections through bottom halves can go away.

After this patch, I/O to the underlying file already happens via
coroutines, but the code still looks a lot like if asynchronous I/O was
being used.

641543b76b block/vdi: Zero unused parts when allocating a new block (fix #919242)
The new block was filled with zero when it was allocated by g_malloc0,
but when it was reused later and only partially used, data from the
previously allocated block were still present and written to the new
block.

This caused the problems reported by bug #919242
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/qemu/+bug/919242).

Now the unused parts of the new block which are before and after the data
are always filled with zero, so it is no longer necessary to zero the whole
block with g_malloc0.

c794b4e0fd Teach block/vdi about "discarded" (no longer allocated) blocks
An entry in the VDI block map will hold an offset to the actual block if
the block is allocated, or one of two specially-interpreted values if
not allocated. Using VirtualBox terminology, value VDI_IMAGE_BLOCK_FREE
(0xffffffff) represents a never-allocated block (semantically arbitrary
content). VDI_IMAGE_BLOCK_ZERO (0xfffffffe) represents a "discarded"
block (semantically zero-filled). block/vdi knows only about
VDI_IMAGE_BLOCK_FREE. Teach it about VDI_IMAGE_BLOCK_ZERO.

Since coroutine operation is now mandatory, convert all bdrv_flush

f21dc3a465 block/vdi: Fix image opening and creation for odd disk sizes
The fix is based on a patch from Kevin Wolf. Here his comment:

"The number of blocks needs to be rounded up to cover all of the virtual hard
disk. Without this fix, we can't even open our own images if their size is not
a multiple of the block size."

While Kevin's patch addressed vdi_create, my modification also fixes
vdi_open which now accepts images with odd disk sizes.

v3:
Don't allow reading of disk images with too large disk sizes.
Neither VBoxManage nor old versions of qemu-img read such images.
This change requires rounding of odd disk sizes before we do the checks.

66f82ceed6 block: Open the underlying image file in generic code
Format drivers shouldn't need to bother with things like file names, but rather
just get an open BlockDriverState for the underlying protocol. This patch
introduces this behaviour for bdrv_open implementation. For protocols which
need to access the filename to open their file/device/connection/... a new
callback bdrv_file_open is introduced which doesn't get an underlying file
opened.

For now, also some of the more obscure formats use bdrv_file_open because they
open() the file themselves instead of using the block.c functions. They need to
be fixed in later patches.
