65fb66980d hw/acpi: Update GED with vCPU Hotplug VMSD for migration
The ACPI CPU hotplug states must be migrated along with other vCPU
hotplug states to the destination VM. Update the GED's VM State
Description (VMSD) table subsection to conditionally include the CPU
Hotplug VM State Description (VMSD).

bf1ecc8dad hw/acpi: Update ACPI _STA method with QOM vCPU ACPI Hotplug states
Reflect the QOM vCPUs ACPI CPU hotplug states in the `_STA.Present` and
and `_STA.Enabled` bits when the guest kernel evaluates the ACPI
`_STA` method during initialization, as well as when vCPUs are
hot-plugged or hot-unplugged. If the CPU is present then the its
`enabled` status can be fetched using architecture-specific code [1].

2d6cfbaf17 hw/acpi: Make CPUs ACPI presence conditional during vCPU hot-unplug
On most architectures, during vCPU hot-plug and hot-unplug actions, the
firmware or VMM/QEMU can update the OS on vCPU status by toggling the
ACPI method `_STA.Present` bit. However, certain CPU architectures
prohibit [1] modifications to a CPU’s `presence` status after the kernel
has booted.

This limitation [2][3] exists because many per-CPU components, such as
interrupt controllers and various per-CPU features tightly integrated
with CPUs, may not support reconfiguration once the kernel is
initialized. Often, these components cannot be powered down, as they may
belong to an `always-on` power domain. As a result, some architectures
require all CPUs to remain `_STA.Present` after system initialization.

Therefore, it is essential to mirror the exact QOM vCPU status through
ACPI for the Guest kernel. For this, we should determine—via
architecture-specific code[4]—whether vCPUs must always remain present
and whether the associated `AcpiCpuStatus::cpu` object should remain
valid, even following a vCPU hot-unplug operation.

cf2181aef2 hw/acpi: Make storage of node id uint32_t to reduce fragility

The value is handled as a uint32_t so store it in that type.
The value cannot in reality exceed MAX_NODES which is currently
128 but if the types are matched there is no need to rely on that
restriction.

a82fe82916 hw/acpi: Generic Port Affinity Structure support
These are very similar to the recently added Generic Initiators
but instead of representing an initiator of memory traffic they
represent an edge point beyond which may lie either targets or
initiators.  Here we add these ports such that they may
be targets of hmat_lb records to describe the latency and
bandwidth from host side initiators to the port.  A discoverable
mechanism such as UEFI CDAT read from CXL devices and switches
is used to discover the remainder of the path, and the OS can build
up full latency and bandwidth numbers as need for work and data
placement decisions.

f74e78220d acpi/pci: Move Generic Initiator object handling into acpi/pci.*
Whilst ACPI SRAT Generic Initiator Afinity Structures are able to refer to
both PCI and ACPI Device Handles, the QEMU implementation only implements
the PCI Device Handle case.  For now move the code into the existing
hw/acpi/pci.c file and header.  If support for ACPI Device Handles is
added in the future, perhaps this will be moved again.

Also push the struct AcpiGenericInitiator down into the c file as not
used outside pci.c.

d8a4b4c3b4 hw/acpi: Move AML building code for Generic Initiators to aml_build.c
Rather than attempting to create a generic function with mess of the two
different device handle types, use a PCI handle specific variant.  If the
ACPI handle form is needed then that can be introduced alongside this
with little duplicated code.

Drop the PCIDeviceHandle in favor of just passing the bus, devfn
and segment directly.  devfn kept as a single byte because ARI means
that in this case it is just an 8 bit function number.

16c687d845 hw/acpi: Fix ordering of BDF in Generic Initiator PCI Device Handle.
The ordering in ACPI specification [1] has bus number in the lowest byte.
As ACPI tables are little endian this is the reverse of the ordering
used by PCI_BUILD_BDF().  As a minimal fix split the QEMU BDF up
into bus and devfn and write them as single bytes in the correct
order.

6e3c2d58e9 hw/acpi/ich9: Add periodic and swsmi timer
This patch implements the periodic and the swsmi ICH9 chipset timers. They are
especially useful when prototyping UEFI firmware (e.g. with EDK2's OVMF)
using QEMU.

For backwards compatibility, the compat properties "x-smi-swsmi-timer",
and "x-smi-periodic-timer" are introduced.

Additionally, writes to the SMI_STS register are enabled for the
corresponding two bits using a write mask to make future work easier.

efdb43b831 hw/acpi: Update CPUs AML with cpu-(ctrl)dev change
CPUs Control device(\\_SB.PCI0) register interface for the x86 arch is IO port
based and existing CPUs AML code assumes _CRS objects would evaluate to a system
resource which describes IO Port address. But on ARM arch CPUs control
device(\\_SB.PRES) register interface is memory-mapped hence _CRS object should
evaluate to system resource which describes memory-mapped base address. Update
build CPUs AML function to accept both IO/MEMORY region spaces and accordingly
update the _CRS object.

549c9a9dcb hw/acpi: Update GED _EVT method AML with CPU scan
OSPM evaluates _EVT method to map the event. The CPU hotplug event eventually
results in start of the CPU scan. Scan figures out the CPU and the kind of
event(plug/unplug) and notifies it back to the guest. Update the GED AML _EVT
method with the call to method \\_SB.CPUS.CSCN (via \\_SB.GED.CSCN)

Architecture specific code [1] might initialize its CPUs AML code by calling
common function build_cpus_aml() like below for ARM:

06f1f4958b hw/acpi: Update ACPI GED framework to support vCPU Hotplug
ACPI GED (as described in the ACPI 6.4 spec) uses an interrupt listed in the
_CRS object of GED to intimate OSPM about an event. Later then demultiplexes the
notified event by evaluating ACPI _EVT method to know the type of event. Use
ACPI GED to also notify the guest kernel about any CPU hot(un)plug events.

Note, GED interface is used by many hotplug events like memory hotplug, NVDIMM
hotplug and non-hotplug events like system power down event. Each of these can
be selected using a bit in the 32 bit GED IO interface. A bit has been reserved
for the CPU hotplug event.

ACPI CPU hotplug related initialization should only happen if ACPI_CPU_HOTPLUG
support has been enabled for particular architecture. Add cpu_hotplug_hw_init()
stub to avoid compilation break.

74e2845c5f hmat acpi: Fix out of bounds access due to missing use of indirection
With a numa set up such as

-numa nodeid=0,cpus=0 \
-numa nodeid=1,memdev=mem \
-numa nodeid=2,cpus=1

and appropriate hmat_lb entries the initiator list is correctly
computed and writen to HMAT as 0,2 but then the LB data is accessed
using the node id (here 2), landing outside the entry_list array.

Stash the reverse lookup when writing the initiator list and use
it to get the correct array index index.

2eb6672cfd hmat acpi: Do not add Memory Proximity Domain Attributes Structure targetting non existent memory.
If qemu is started with a proximity node containing CPUs alone,
it will provide one of these structures to say memory in this
node is directly connected to itself.

This description is arguably pointless even if there is memory
in the node.  If there is no memory present, and hence no SRAT
entry it breaks Linux HMAT passing and the table is rejected.

0a5b5acdf2 hw/acpi: Implement the SRAT GI affinity structure
ACPI spec provides a scheme to associate "Generic Initiators" [1]
(e.g. heterogeneous processors and accelerators, GPUs, and I/O devices with
integrated compute or DMA engines GPUs) with Proximity Domains. This is
achieved using Generic Initiator Affinity Structure in SRAT. During bootup,
Linux kernel parse the ACPI SRAT to determine the PXM ids and create a NUMA
node for each unique PXM ID encountered. Qemu currently do not implement
these structures while building SRAT.

Add GI structures while building VM ACPI SRAT. The association between
device and node are stored using acpi-generic-initiator object. Lookup
presence of all such objects and use them to build these structures.

The structure needs a PCI device handle [2] that consists of the device BDF.
The vfio-pci device corresponding to the acpi-generic-initiator object is
located to determine the BDF.

b64b7ed8bb qom: new object to associate device to NUMA node
NVIDIA GPU's support MIG (Mult-Instance GPUs) feature [1], which allows
partitioning of the GPU device resources (including device memory) into
several (upto 8) isolated instances. Each of the partitioned memory needs
a dedicated NUMA node to operate. The partitions are not fixed and they
can be created/deleted at runtime.

Unfortunately Linux OS does not provide a means to dynamically create/destroy
NUMA nodes and such feature implementation is not expected to be trivial. The
nodes that OS discovers at the boot time while parsing SRAT remains fixed. So
we utilize the Generic Initiator (GI) Affinity structures that allows
association between nodes and devices. Multiple GI structures per BDF is
possible, allowing creation of multiple nodes by exposing unique PXM in each
of these structures.

Implement the mechanism to build the GI affinity structures as Qemu currently
does not. Introduce a new acpi-generic-initiator object to allow host admin
link a device with an associated NUMA node. Qemu maintains this association
and use this object to build the requisite GI Affinity Structure.

When multiple NUMA nodes are associated with a device, it is required to
create those many number of acpi-generic-initiator objects, each representing
a unique device:node association.

An admin can provide a range of acpi-generic-initiator objects, each
associating a device (by providing the id through pci-dev argument)
to the desired NUMA node (using the node argument). Currently, only PCI
device is supported.

For the grace hopper system, create a range of 8 nodes and associate that
with the device using the acpi-generic-initiator object. While a configuration
of less than 8 nodes per device is allowed, such configuration will prevent
utilization of the feature to the fullest. The following sample creates 8
nodes per PCI device for a VM with 2 PCI devices and link them to the
respecitve PCI device using acpi-generic-initiator objects:

45e48809d3 hw/acpi: propagate vcpu hotplug after switch to modern interface
If a vcpu with an apic-id that is not supported by the legacy
interface (>255) is hot-plugged, the legacy code will dynamically switch
to the modern interface. However, the hotplug event is not forwarded to
the new interface resulting in the vcpu not being fully/properly added
to the machine config. This BUG is evidenced by OVMF when it
it attempts to count the vcpus and reports an inconsistent vcpu count
reported by the fw_cfg interface and the modern hotpug interface.

Fix is to propagate the hotplug event after making the switch from
the legacy interface to the modern interface.

40a6b8935d hw/acpi/core: Trace enable and status registers of GPE separately
The bit positions of both registers are related. Tracing the registers
independently results in the same offsets across these registers which
eases debugging.

c461f3e382 hw/acpi/acpi_dev_interface: Remove now unused madt_cpu virtual method
This virtual method was always set to the x86-specific pc_madt_cpu_entry(),
even in piix4 which is also used in MIPS. The previous changes use
pc_madt_cpu_entry() otherwise, so madt_cpu can be dropped.

Since pc_madt_cpu_entry() is now only used in x86-specific code, the stub
in hw/acpi/acpi-x86-stub can be removed as well.

9a4fedcf12 hw/acpi/cpu: Have build_cpus_aml() take a build_madt_cpu_fn callback
build_cpus_aml() is architecture independent but needs to create architecture-
specific CPU AML. So far this was achieved by using a virtual method from
TYPE_ACPI_DEVICE_IF. However, build_cpus_aml() would resolve this interface from
global (!) state. This makes it quite incomprehensible where this interface
comes from (TYPE_PIIX4_PM?, TYPE_ICH9_LPC_DEVICE?, TYPE_ACPI_GED_X86?) an can
lead to crashes when the generic code is ported to new architectures.

So far, build_cpus_aml() is only called in architecture-specific code -- and
only in x86. We can therefore simply pass pc_madt_cpu_entry() as callback to
build_cpus_aml(). This is the same callback that would be used through
TYPE_ACPI_DEVICE_IF.

-Wshadow flags. Enabling -Wshadow catches cases of local variables shadowing
other local variables or parameters. These makes the code confusing and/or adds

3a1258399b nvdimm: Reject writing label data to ROM instead of crashing QEMU
Currently, when using a true R/O NVDIMM (ROM memory backend) with a label
area, the VM can easily crash QEMU by trying to write to the label area,
because the ROM memory is mmap'ed without PROT_WRITE.

    [root@vm-0 ~]# ndctl disable-region region0
    disabled 1 region
    [root@vm-0 ~]# ndctl zero-labels nmem0
    -> QEMU segfaults

Let's remember whether we have a ROM memory backend and properly
reject the write request:

    [root@vm-0 ~]# ndctl disable-region region0
    disabled 1 region
    [root@vm-0 ~]# ndctl zero-labels nmem0
    zeroed 0 nmem

In comparison, on a system with a R/W NVDIMM:

    [root@vm-0 ~]# ndctl disable-region region0
    disabled 1 region
    [root@vm-0 ~]# ndctl zero-labels nmem0
    zeroed 1 nmem

For ACPI, just return "unsupported", like if no label exists. For spapr,
return "H_P2", similar to when no label area exists.

Could we rely on the "unarmed" property? Maybe, but it looks cleaner to
only disallow what certainly cannot work.

After all "unarmed=on" primarily means: cannot accept persistent writes. In
theory, there might be setups where devices with "unarmed=on" set could
be used to host non-persistent data (temporary files, system RAM, ...); for
example, in Linux, admins can overwrite the "readonly" setting and still
write to the device -- which will work as long as we're not using ROM.
Allowing writing label data in such configurations can make sense.

42b1b9d7db hw/acpi: Fix PM control register access
On pegasos2 which has ACPI as part of VT8231 south bridge the board
firmware writes PM control register by accessing the second byte so
addr will be 1. This wasn't handled correctly and the write went to
addr 0 instead. Remove the acpi_pm1_cnt_write() function which is used
only once and does not take addr into account and handle non-zero
address in acpi_pm_cnt_{read|write}. This fixes ACPI shutdown with
pegasos2 firmware.

The issue below is possibly related to the same memory core bug.

de6cd7599b meson: Replace softmmu_ss -> system_ss
We use the user_ss[] array to hold the user emulation sources,
and the softmmu_ss[] array to hold the system emulation ones.
Hold the latter in the 'system_ss[]' array for parity with user
emulation.
