0210b39d0e qom/object: Add a new function object_initialize_child()
A lot of code is using the object_initialize() function followed by a call
to object_property_add_child() to add the newly initialized object as a child
of the current object. Both functions increase the reference counter of the
new object, but many spots that call these two functions then forget to drop
one of the superfluous references. So the newly created object is often not
cleaned up correctly when the parent is destroyed. In the worst case, this
can cause crashes, e.g. because device objects are not correctly removed from
their parent_bus.

Since this is a common pattern between many code spots, let's introduce a
new function that takes care of calling all three required initialization
functions, first object_initialize(), then object_property_add_child() and
finally object_unref(). And since the function does a similar job like
object_new_with_props(), also allow to set additional properties via
varargs, and use user_creatable_complete() to make sure that the functions
can be used similarly.

And while we're at object.h, also fix some copy-n-paste errors in the
comments there ("to store the area" --> "to store the error").

1f871c5e6b exec.c: Handle IOMMUs in address_space_translate_for_iotlb()
Currently we don't support board configurations that put an IOMMU
in the path of the CPU's memory transactions, and instead just
assert() if the memory region fonud in address_space_translate_for_iotlb()
is an IOMMUMemoryRegion.

Remove this limitation by having the function handle IOMMUs.
This is mostly straightforward, but we must make sure we have
a notifier registered for every IOMMU that a transaction has
passed through, so that we can flush the TLB appropriately
when any of the IOMMUs change their mappings.

265b578c58 object: fix OBJ_PROP_LINK_UNREF_ON_RELEASE ambivalence
A link property can be set during creation, with
object_property_add_link() and later with object_property_set_link().

add_link() doesn't add a reference to the target object, while
set_link() does.

Furthemore, OBJ_PROP_LINK_UNREF_ON_RELEASE flags, set during add_link,
says whether a reference must be released when the property is destroyed.
This can lead to leaks if the property was later set_link(), as the
added reference is never released.

Instead, rename OBJ_PROP_LINK_UNREF_ON_RELEASE to OBJ_PROP_LINK_STRONG
and use that has an indication on how the link handle reference
management in set_link().

2278b93941 Use cpu_create(type) instead of cpu_init(cpu_model)
With all targets defining CPU_RESOLVING_TYPE, refactor
cpu_parse_cpu_model(type, cpu_model) to parse_cpu_model(cpu_model)
so that callers won't have to know internal resolving cpu
type. Place it in exec.c so it could be called from both
target independed vl.c and *-user/main.c.

That allows us to stop abusing cpu type from
  MachineClass::default_cpu_type
as resolver class in vl.c which were confusing part of
cpu_parse_cpu_model().

Also with new parse_cpu_model(), the last users of cpu_init()
in null-machine.c and bsd/linux-user targets could be switched
to cpu_create() API and cpu_init() API will be removed by
follow up patch.

With no longer users left remove MachineState::cpu_model field,
new code should use MachineState::cpu_type instead and
leave cpu_model parsing to generic code in vl.c.

961c47bb8b qmp: Add qom-list-properties to list QOM object properties
There is already 'device-list-properties' which does most of the job,
however it does not handle everything returned by qom-list-types such
as machines as they inherit directly from TYPE_OBJECT and not TYPE_DEVICE.
It does not handle abstract classes either.

This adds a new qom-list-properties command which prints properties
of a specific class and its instance. It is pretty much a simplified copy
of the device-list-properties handler.

Since it creates an object instance, device properties should appear
in the output as they are copied to QOM properties at the instance_init
hook.

This adds a object_class_property_iter_init() helper to allow class
properties enumeration uses it in the new QMP command to allow properties
listing for abstract classes.

eb815e248f qapi: Move qapi-schema.json to qapi/, rename generated files
Move qapi-schema.json to qapi/, so it's next to its modules, and all

Consistently name the generated files qapi-MODULE.EXT:
qmp-commands.[ch] become qapi-commands.[ch], qapi-event.[ch] become
qapi-events.[ch], and qmp-introspect.[ch] become qapi-introspect.[ch].
This gets rid of the temporary hacks in scripts/qapi/commands.py,

9af2398977 Include less of the generated modular QAPI headers
In my "build everything" tree, a change to the types in
qapi-schema.json triggers a recompile of about 4800 out of 5100
objects.

The previous commit split up qmp-commands.h, qmp-event.h, qmp-visit.h,
qapi-types.h. Each of these headers still includes all its shards.
Reduce compile time by including just the shards we actually need.

To illustrate the benefits: adding a type to qapi/migration.json now
recompiles some 2300 instead of 4800 objects. The next commit will
improve it further.

98670d47cd accel/tcg: add size paremeter in tlb_fill()
The MC68040 MMU provides the size of the access that
triggers the page fault.

This size is set in the Special Status Word which
is written in the stack frame of the access fault
exception.

So we need the size in m68k_cpu_unassigned_access() and
m68k_cpu_handle_mmu_fault().

To be able to do that, this patch modifies the prototype of
handle_mmu_fault handler, tlb_fill() and probe_write().
do_unassigned_access() already includes a size parameter.

This patch also updates handle_mmu_fault handlers and
tlb_fill() of all targets (only parameter, no code change).

c97d6d2cdf i386: hvf: add code base from Google's QEMU repository
This file begins tracking the files that will be the code base for HVF
support in QEMU. This code base is part of Google's QEMU version of
their Android emulator, and can be found at
https://android.googlesource.com/platform/external/qemu/+/emu-master-dev

This code is based on Veertu Inc's vdhh (Veertu Desktop Hosted
Hypervisor), found at https://github.com/veertuinc/vdhh. Everything is
appropriately licensed under GPL v2-or-later, except for the code inside
x86_task.c and x86_task.h, which, deriving from KVM (the Linux kernel),
is licensed GPL v2-only.

This code base already implements a very great deal of functionality,
although Google's version removed from Vertuu's the support for APIC
page and hyperv-related stuff. According to the Android Emulator Release
Notes, Revision 26.1.3 (August 2017), "Hypervisor.framework is now
enabled by default on macOS for 32-bit x86 images to improve performance
and macOS compatibility", although we better use with caution for, as the
same Revision warns us, "If you experience issues with it specifically,
please file a bug report...". The code hasn't seen much update in the
last 5 months, so I think that we can further develop the code with
occasional visiting Google's repository to see if there has been any
update.

On top of Google's code, the following changes were made:

- add code to the configure script to support the --enable-hvf argument.
If the OS is Darwin, it checks for presence of HVF in the system. The
patch also adds strings related to HVF in the file qemu-options.hx.
QEMU will only support the modern syntax style '-M accel=hvf' no enable
hvf; the legacy '-enable-hvf' will not be supported.

- fix styling issues

- add glue code to cpus.c

- move HVFX86EmulatorState field to CPUX86State, changing the
the emulation functions to have a parameter with signature 'CPUX86State *'
instead of 'CPUState *' so we don't have to get the 'env'.

2dda635410 qom: move CPUClass.tcg_initialize to a global
55c3cee ("qom: Introduce CPUClass.tcg_initialize", 2017-10-24)
introduces a per-CPUClass bool that we check so that the target CPU
is initialized for TCG only once. This works well except when
we end up creating more than one CPUClass, in which case we end
up incorrectly initializing TCG more than once, i.e. once for
each CPUClass.

This can be replicated with:
  $ aarch64-softmmu/qemu-system-aarch64 -machine xlnx-zcu102 -smp 6 \
      -global driver=xlnx,,zynqmp,property=has_rpu,value=on
In this case the class name of the "RPUs" is prefixed by "cortex-r5-",
whereas the "regular" CPUs are prefixed by "cortex-a53-". This
results in two CPUClass instances being created.

Fix it by introducing a static variable, so that only the first
target CPU being initialized will initialize the target-dependent
part of TCG, regardless of CPUClass instances.

ed860129ac boards.h: Define new flag ignore_memory_transaction_failures
Define a new MachineClass field ignore_memory_transaction_failures.
If this is flag is true then the CPU will ignore memory transaction
failures which should cause the CPU to take an exception due to an
access to an unassigned physical address; the transaction will
instead return zero (for a read) or be ignored (for a write). This
should be set only by legacy board models which rely on the old
RAZ/WI behaviour for handling devices that QEMU does not yet model.
New board models should instead use "unimplemented-device" for all
memory ranges where the guest will attempt to probe for a device that
QEMU doesn't implement and a stub device is required.

We need this for ARM boards, where we're about to implement support for
generating external aborts on memory transaction failures. Too many
of our legacy board models rely on the RAZ/WI behaviour and we
would break currently working guests when their "probe for device"
code provoked an external abort rather than a RAZ.

0dff0939f6 cpu: Define new cpu_transaction_failed() hook
Currently we have a rather half-baked setup for allowing CPUs to
generate exceptions on accesses to invalid memory: the CPU has a
cpu_unassigned_access() hook which the memory system calls in
unassigned_mem_write() and unassigned_mem_read() if the current_cpu
pointer is non-NULL. This was originally designed before we
implemented the MemTxResult type that allows memory operations to
report a success or failure code, which is why the hook is called
right at the bottom of the memory system. The major problem with
this is that it means that the hook can be called even when the
access was not actually done by the CPU: for instance if the CPU
writes to a DMA engine register which causes the DMA engine to begin
a transaction which has been set up by the guest to operate on
invalid memory then this will casue the CPU to take an exception
incorrectly. Another minor problem is that currently if a device
returns a transaction error then this won't turn into a CPU exception
at all.

The right way to do this is to have allow the CPU to respond
to memory system transaction failures at the point where the
CPU specific code calls into the memory system.

Define a new QOM CPU method and utility function
cpu_transaction_failed() which is called in these cases.
The functionality here overlaps with the existing
cpu_unassigned_access() because individual target CPUs will
need some work to convert them to the new system. When this
transition is complete we can remove the old cpu_unassigned_access()
code.

f7abe0ecd4 qapi: Change data type of the FOO_lookup generated for enum FOO
Currently, a FOO_lookup is an array of strings terminated by a NULL
sentinel.

A future patch will generate enums with "holes". NULL-termination
will cease to work then.

To prepare for that, store the length in the FOO_lookup by wrapping it
in a struct and adding a member for the length.

The sentinel will be dropped next.

d01c05c955 trace: Allocate cpu->trace_dstate in place
There's little point in dynamically allocating the bitmap if we
know at compile-time the max number of events we want to support.
Thus, make room in the struct for the bitmap, which will make things
easier later: this paves the way for upcoming changes, in which
we'll use a u32 to fully capture cpu->trace_dstate.

This change also increases performance by saving a dereference and
improving locality--note that this is important since upcoming work
makes reading this bitmap fairly common.

bd88c780e6 qom/cpu: remove host_tid field
This was only used by the gdbstub and even then was only being set for
subsequent threads. Rather the continue duplicating the number just
make the gdbstub get the information from TaskState structure.

Now the tid is correctly reported for all threads the bug I was seeing
with "vCont;C04:0;c" packets is fixed as the correct tid is reported
to gdb.

I moved cpu_gdb_index into the gdbstub to facilitate easy access to
the TaskState which is used elsewhere in gdbstub.

To prevent BSD failing to build I've included ts_tid into its
TaskStruct but not populated it - which was the same state as the old
cpu->host_tid. I'll leave it up to the BSD maintainers to actually
populate this properly if they want a working gdbstub with
user-threads.

f3ced3c592 tcg: consistently access cpu->tb_jmp_cache atomically
Some code paths can lead to atomic accesses racing with memset()
on cpu->tb_jmp_cache, which can result in torn reads/writes
and is undefined behaviour in C11.

These torn accesses are unlikely to show up as bugs, but from code
inspection they seem possible. For example, tb_phys_invalidate does:
    /* remove the TB from the hash list */
    h = tb_jmp_cache_hash_func(tb->pc);
    CPU_FOREACH(cpu) {
        if (atomic_read(&cpu->tb_jmp_cache[h]) == tb) {
            atomic_set(&cpu->tb_jmp_cache[h], NULL);
        }
    }
Here atomic_set might race with a concurrent memset (such as the
ones scheduled via "unsafe" async work, e.g. tlb_flush_page) and
therefore we might end up with a torn pointer (or who knows what,
because we are under undefined behaviour).

This patch converts parallel accesses to cpu->tb_jmp_cache to use
atomic primitives, thereby bringing these accesses back to defined
behaviour. The price to pay is to potentially execute more instructions
when clearing cpu->tb_jmp_cache, but given how infrequently they happen
and the small size of the cache, the performance impact I have measured
is within noise range when booting debian-arm.

Note that under "safe async" work (e.g. do_tb_flush) we could use memset
because no other vcpus are running. However I'm keeping these accesses
atomic as well to keep things simple and to avoid confusing analysis
tools such as ThreadSanitizer.

e3b9ca8109 cputlb: introduce tlb_flush_* async work.
Some architectures allow to flush the tlb of other VCPUs. This is not a problem
when we have only one thread for all VCPUs but it definitely needs to be an
asynchronous work when we are in true multithreaded work.

We take the tb_lock() when doing this to avoid racing with other threads
which may be invalidating TB's at the same time. The alternative would
be to use proper atomic primitives to clear the tlb entries en-mass.

This patch doesn't do anything to protect other cputlb function being

8d04fb55de tcg: drop global lock during TCG code execution
This finally allows TCG to benefit from the iothread introduction: Drop
the global mutex while running pure TCG CPU code. Reacquire the lock
when entering MMIO or PIO emulation, or when leaving the TCG loop.

We have to revert a few optimization for the current TCG threading
model, namely kicking the TCG thread in qemu_mutex_lock_iothread and not
kicking it in qemu_cpu_kick. We also need to disable RAM block
reordering until we have a more efficient locking mechanism at hand.

Still, a Linux x86 UP guest and my Musicpal ARM model boot fine here.
These numbers demonstrate where we gain something:

The guest CPU was fully loaded, but the iothread could still run mostly
independent on a second core. Without the patch we don't get beyond

32206 jan       20   0  330m  73m 7036 R   82  0.9   1:06.00 qemu-system-arm

We don't benefit significantly, though, when the guest is not fully
loading a host CPU.

4061200059 arm: Correctly handle watchpoints for BE32 CPUs
In BE32 mode, sub-word size watchpoints can fail to trigger because the
address of the access is adjusted in the opcode helpers before being

adjustment before performing the comparison with the help of a new CPUClass
hook.

This version of the patch augments and tidies up comments a little.

e0eeb4a21a cpus: pass CPUState to run_on_cpu helpers
CPUState is a fairly common pointer to pass to these helpers. This means
if you need other arguments for the async_run_on_cpu case you end up
having to do a g_malloc to stuff additional data into the routine. For
the current users this isn't a massive deal but for MTTCG this gets
cumbersome when the only other parameter is often an address.

This adds the typedef run_on_cpu_func for helper functions which has an
explicit CPUState * passed as the first parameter. All the users of
run_on_cpu and async_run_on_cpu have had their helpers updated to use
CPUState where available.

62a48a2a57 cpu: Use CPUClass->parse_features() as convertor to global properties
Currently CPUClass->parse_features() is used to parse -cpu

But considering that features specified by -cpu apply to every

features string for every CPU created. It also makes every target

CPUClass->parse_features() parser, which gets in a way if we
consider using generic device_add for CPU hotplug as device_add
has not a clue about CPU specific hooks.

Turns out we can use global properties mechanism to set
properties on every created CPU instance for a given type. That
way it's possible to convert CPU features into a set of global
properties for CPU type specified by -cpu cpu_model and common
Device.device_post_init() will apply them to CPU of given type

6f789be56d tcg: Rework tb_invalidated_flag
'tb_invalidated_flag' was meant to catch two events:
 * some TB has been invalidated by tb_phys_invalidate();
 * the whole translation buffer has been flushed by tb_flush().

Then it was checked:
 * in cpu_exec() to ensure that the last executed TB can be safely
   linked to directly call the next one;
 * in cpu_exec_nocache() to decide if the original TB should be provided
   for further possible invalidation along with the temporarily
   generated TB.

It is always safe to patch an invalidated TB since it is not going to be
used anyway. It is also safe to call tb_phys_invalidate() for an already
invalidated TB. Thus, setting this flag in tb_phys_invalidate() is
simply unnecessary. Moreover, it can prevent from pretty proper linking
of TBs, if any arbitrary TB has been invalidated. So just don't touch it
in tb_phys_invalidate().

If this flag is only used to catch whether tb_flush() has been called
then rename it to 'tb_flushed'. Declare it as 'bool' and stick to using
only 'true' and 'false' to set its value. Also, instead of setting it in
tb_gen_code(), just after tb_flush() has been called, do it right inside
of tb_flush().

In cpu_exec(), this flag is used to track if tb_flush() has been called
and have made 'next_tb' (a reference to the last executed TB) invalid
for linking it to directly call the next TB. tb_flush() can be called
during the CPU execution loop from tb_gen_code(), during TB execution or
by another thread while 'tb_lock' is released. Catch for translation
buffer flush reliably by resetting this flag once before first TB lookup
and each time we find it set before trying to add a direct jump. Don't
touch in in tb_find_physical().

Each vCPU has its own execution loop in multithreaded mode and thus
should have its own copy of the flag to be able to reset it with its own
'next_tb' and don't affect any other vCPU execution thread. So make this
flag per-vCPU and move it to CPUState.

In cpu_exec_nocache(), we only need to check if tb_flush() has been
called from tb_gen_code() called by cpu_exec_nocache() itself. To do
this reliably, preserve the old value of the flag, reset it before
calling tb_gen_code(), check afterwards, and combine the saved value
back to the flag.

This patch is based on the patch "tcg: move tb_invalidated_flag to
CPUState" from Paolo Bonzini <pbonzini@redhat.com>.

qemu_opts_foreach() to after it. Here's a typical hunk:

	 if (qemu_opts_foreach(qemu_find_opts("object"),
    -                          object_create,
    -                          object_create_initial, NULL)) {
    +                          user_creatable_add_opts_foreach,
    +                          object_create_initial, &err)) {
    +        error_report_err(err);
	     exit(1);
	 }

Before, object_create() reports from within qemu_opts_foreach(), using
the option's location. Afterwards, we do it after
qemu_opts_foreach(), using whatever location happens to be current
there.  Commonly a "none" location.

This is because Error objects don't have location information.
Problematic.

Reproducer:

    $ qemu-system-x86_64 -nodefaults -display none -object secret,id=foo,foo=bar
    qemu-system-x86_64: Property '.foo' not found

Note no location. This commit restores it:

    qemu-system-x86_64: -object secret,id=foo,foo=bar: Property '.foo' not found

Note that the qemu_opts_foreach() bug just fixed could mask the bug
here: if the location it leaves dangling hasn't been clobbered, yet,
it's the correct one.

da34e65cb4 include/qemu/osdep.h: Don't include qapi/error.h
Commit 57cb38b included qapi/error.h into qemu/osdep.h to get the
Error typedef. Since then, we've moved to include qemu/osdep.h
everywhere. Its file comment explains: "To avoid getting into
possible circular include dependencies, this file should not include
any other QEMU headers, with the exceptions of config-host.h,
compiler.h, os-posix.h and os-win32.h, all of which are doing a
similar job to this file and are under similar constraints."
qapi/error.h doesn't do a similar job, and it doesn't adhere to
similar constraints: it includes qapi-types.h. That's in excess of
100KiB of crap most .c files don't actually need.

Add the typedef to qemu/typedefs.h, and include that instead of
qapi/error.h. Include qapi/error.h in .c files that need it and don't
get it now. Include qapi-types.h in qom/object.h for uint16List.

Update scripts/clean-includes accordingly. Update it further to match
reality: replace config.h by config-target.h, add sysemu/os-posix.h,
sysemu/os-win32.h. Update the list of includes in the qemu/osdep.h
comment quoted above similarly.

This reduces the number of objects depending on qapi/error.h from "all
of them" to less than a third. Unfortunately, the number depending on
qapi-types.h shrinks only a little. More work is needed for that one.

90998d5896 qom: add helpers for UserCreatable object types
The QMP monitor code has two helper methods object_add
and qmp_object_del that are called from several places
in the code (QMP, HMP and main emulator startup).

The HMP and main emulator startup code also share
further logic that extracts the qom-type & id
values from a qdict.

We soon need to use this logic from qemu-img, qemu-io
and qemu-nbd too, but don't want those to depend on
the monitor, nor do we want to duplicate the code.

To avoid this, move some code out of qmp.c and hmp.c
adding new methods to qom/object_interfaces.c

 - user_creatable_add - takes a QDict holding a full
   object definition & instantiates it
 - user_creatable_add_type - takes an ID, type name,
   and QDict holding object properties & instantiates
   it
 - user_creatable_add_opts - takes a QemuOpts holding
   a full object definition & instantiates it
 - user_creatable_add_opts_foreach - variant on
   user_creatable_add_opts which can be directly used
   in conjunction with qemu_opts_foreach.
 - user_creatable_del - takes an ID and deletes the
   corresponding object

The existing code is updated to use these new methods.

7746abd8e9 qom: Change object property iterator API contract
Currently the ObjectProperty iterator API works as follows:

  ObjectPropertyIterator *iter;

  iter = object_property_iter_init(obj);
  while ((prop = object_property_iter_next(iter))) {
     ...
  }
  object_property_iter_free(iter);

This has the benefit that the ObjectPropertyIterator struct
can be opaque, but has the downside that callers need to
explicitly call a free function. It is also not in keeping
with iterator style used elsewhere in QEMU/GLib2.

This patch changes the API to use stack allocation instead:

  ObjectPropertyIterator iter;

  object_property_iter_init(&iter, obj);

16bf7f522a qom: Allow properties to be registered against classes
When there are many instances of a given class, registering
properties against the instance is wasteful of resources. The
majority of objects have a statically defined list of possible
properties, so most of the properties are easily registerable
against the class. Only those properties which are conditionally
registered at runtime need be recorded against the klass.

Registering properties against classes also makes it possible
to provide static introspection of QOM - currently introspection
is only possible after creating an instance of a class, which
severely limits its usefulness.

This impl only supports simple scalar properties. It does not
attempt to allow child object / link object properties against
the class. There are ways to support those too, but it would
make this patch more complicated, so it is left as an exercise
for the future.

There is no equivalent to object_property_del() provided, since
classes must be immutable once they are defined.

b604a854e8 qom: Replace object property list with GHashTable
ARM GICv3 systems with large number of CPUs create lots of IRQ pins. Since
every pin is represented as a property, number of these properties becomes
very large. Every property add first makes sure there's no duplicates.
Traversing the list becomes very slow, therefore QEMU initialization takes
significant time (several seconds for e. g. 16 CPUs).

This patch replaces list with GHashTable, making lookup very fast. The only
drawback is that object_child_foreach() and object_child_foreach_recursive()
cannot add or remove properties during traversal, since GHashTableIter does
not have modify-safe version. However, the code seems not to modify objects
via these functions.

a00c948241 qom: Introduce ObjectPropertyIterator struct for iteration
Some users of QOM need to be able to iterate over properties
defined against an object instance. Currently they are just
directly using the QTAIL macros against the object properties
data structure.

This is bad because it exposes them to changes in the data
structure used to store properties, as well as changes in
functionality such as ability to register properties against
the class.

This provides an ObjectPropertyIterator struct which will
insulate the callers from the particular data structure
used to store properties. It can be used thus

  ObjectProperty *prop;
  ObjectPropertyIterator *iter;

  iter = object_property_iter_init(obj);

from cpu_reload_memory_map() (which is renamed accordingly to
cpu_reloading_memory_map() as it is only responsible for breaking
cpu-exec.c's RCU critical section now). This lets us keep the definition
of the CPUAddressSpace struct private to exec.c.

e0c382113f tcg: signal-free qemu_cpu_kick
Signals are slow and do not exist on Win32. The previous patches
have done most of the legwork to introduce memory barriers (some
of them were even there already for the sake of Windows!) and
we can now set the flags directly in the iothread.

qemu_cpu_kick_thread is not used anymore on TCG, since the TCG thread is
never outside usermode while the CPU is running (not halted). Instead run
the content of the signal handler (now in qemu_cpu_kick_no_halt) directly.
qemu_cpu_kick_no_halt is also used in qemu_mutex_lock_iothread to avoid
the overhead of qemu_cond_broadcast.

b7bca73334 cpu: Convert cpu_index into a bitmap
Currently CPUState::cpu_index is monotonically increasing and a newly
created CPU always gets the next higher index. The next available
index is calculated by counting the existing number of CPUs. This is
fine as long as we only add CPUs, but there are architectures which
are starting to support CPU removal, too. For an architecture like PowerPC
which derives its CPU identifier (device tree ID) from cpu_index, the
existing logic of generating cpu_index values causes problems.

With the currently proposed method of handling vCPU removal by parking
the vCPU fd in QEMU
(Ref: http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/qemu-devel/2015-02/msg02604.html),
generating cpu_index this way will not work for PowerPC.

This patch changes the way cpu_index is handed out by maintaining
a bit map of the CPUs that tracks both addition and removal of CPUs.

The CPU bitmap allocation logic is part of cpu_exec_init(), which is
called by instance_init routines of various CPU targets. Newly added
cpu_exec_exit() API handles the deallocation part and this routine is
called from generic CPU instance_finalize.

Note: This new CPU enumeration is for !CONFIG_USER_ONLY only.
CONFIG_USER_ONLY continues to have the old enumeration logic.

a3590dacce qom: Don't pass string table to object_get_enum() function
Now that properties can be explicitly registered as an enum
type, there is no need to pass the string table to the

In changing this method signature, the hostmem backend object
has to be converted to use the new enum property registration

a8e3fbedc8 qom: Add an object_property_add_enum() helper function
A QOM property can be parsed as enum using the visit_type_enum()
helper function, but this forces callers to use the more complex
generic object_property_add() method when registering it. It
also requires that users of that object have access to the
string map when they want to read the property value.

This patch introduces a specialized object_property_add_enum()
method which simplifies the use of enum properties, so the
setters/getters directly get passed the int value.

  typedef enum {
     MYDEV_TYPE_FROG,
     MYDEV_TYPE_ALLIGATOR,
     MYDEV_TYPE_PLATYPUS,

     MYDEV_TYPE_LAST
  } MyDevType;

Then provide a table of enum <-> string mappings

  static const char *const mydevtypemap[MYDEV_TYPE_LAST + 1] = {
     [MYDEV_TYPE_FROG] = "frog",
     [MYDEV_TYPE_ALLIGATOR] = "alligator",
     [MYDEV_TYPE_PLATYPUS] = "platypus",
     [MYDEV_TYPE_LAST] = NULL,
  };

Assuming an object struct of

   typedef struct {
      Object parent_obj;
      MyDevType devtype;
      ...other fields...
   } MyDev;

The property can then be registered as follows:

   static int mydev_prop_get_devtype(Object *obj,
                                     Error **errp G_GNUC_UNUSED)
   {
       MyDev *dev = MYDEV(obj);

       return dev->devtype;
   }

   static void mydev_prop_set_devtype(Object *obj,
                                      int value,
                                      Error **errp G_GNUC_UNUSED)
   {
       MyDev *dev = MYDEV(obj);

       dev->devtype = value;
   }

   object_property_add_enum(obj, "devtype",
                            mydevtypemap, "MyDevType",
                            mydev_prop_get_devtype,
                            mydev_prop_set_devtype,
                            NULL);

Note there is no need to check the range of 'value' in
the setter, because the string->enum conversion code will
have already done that and reported an error as required.

a31bdae5a7 qom: Add object_new_with_props() / object_new_withpropv() helpers
It is reasonably common to want to create an object, set a
number of properties, register it in the hierarchy and then
mark it as complete (if a user creatable type). This requires
quite a lot of error prone, verbose, boilerplate code to achieve.

First a pair of functions object_set_props() / object_set_propv()
are added which allow for a list of objects to be set in
one single API call.

Then object_new_with_props() / object_new_with_propv() constructors
are added which simplify the sequence of calls to create an
object, populate properties, register in the object composition
tree and mark the object complete, into a single method call.

Usage would be:

   Error *err = NULL;
   Object *obj;
   obj = object_new_with_propv(TYPE_MEMORY_BACKEND_FILE,
                               object_get_objects_root(),
                               "hostmem0",
                               &err,
                               "share", "yes",
                               "mem-path", "/dev/shm/somefile",
                               "prealloc", "yes",
                               "size", "1048576",
                               NULL);

Note all property values are passed in string form and will
be parsed into their required data types, using normal QOM
semantics for parsing from string format.

9d82b5a792 exec: make iotlb RCU-friendly
After the previous patch, TLBs will be flushed on every change to
the memory mapping. This patch augments that with synchronization
of the MemoryRegionSections referred to in the iotlb array.

With this change, it is guaranteed that iotlb_to_region will access
the correct memory map, even once the TLB will be accessed outside
the BQL.

2472b6c07b gdbstub: Allow target CPUs to specify watchpoint STOP_BEFORE_ACCESS flag
GDB assumes that watchpoint set via the gdbstub remote protocol will
behave in the same way as hardware watchpoints for the target. In
particular, whether the CPU stops with the PC before or after the insn
which triggers the watchpoint is target dependent. Allow guest CPU
code to specify which behaviour to use. This fixes a bug where with
guest CPUs which stop before the accessing insn GDB would manually
step forward over what it thought was the insn and end up one insn
further forward than it should be.

We set this flag for the CPU architectures which set
gdbarch_have_nonsteppable_watchpoint in gdb 7.7:
ARM, CRIS, LM32, MIPS and Xtensa.

05068c0dfb exec.c: Relax restrictions on watchpoint length and alignment
The current implementation of watchpoints requires that they
have a power of 2 length which is not greater than TARGET_PAGE_SIZE
and that their address is a multiple of their length. Watchpoints
on ARM don't fit these restrictions, so change the implementation
so they can be relaxed.

64607d0881 qom: add a generic mechanism to resolve paths
It may be desirable to have custom link<> properties that do more
than just store an object. Even the addition of a "check"
function is not enough if setting the link has side effects
or if a non-standard reference counting is preferrable.

Avoid the assumption that the opaque field of a link<> is a
LinkProperty struct, by adding a generic "resolve" callback
to ObjectProperty. This fixes aliases of link properties.

ef7c7ff6d4 qom: add object_property_add_alias()
Sometimes an object needs to present a property which is actually on
another object, or it needs to provide an alias name for an existing
property.

Examples:
  a.foo -> b.foo
  a.old_name -> a.new_name

The new object_property_add_alias() API allows objects to alias a
property on the same object or another object. The source and target
names can be different.

bf7663c4bd cpu: introduce CPUClass::virtio_is_big_endian()
If we want to support targets that can change endianness (modern PPC and
ARM for the moment), we need to add a per-CPU class method to be called
from the virtio code. The virtio_ prefix in the name is a hint for people
to avoid misusage (aka. anywhere but from the virtio code).

The default behaviour is to return the compile-time default target
endianness.

0d6d1ab499 cpu: Avoid QOM casts for CPU()
CPU address spaces touching load and store helpers as well as the
movement of (almost) all fields from CPU_COMMON to CPUState have led to
a noticeable increase of CPU() usage in "hot" paths for both TCG and KVM.

While CPU()'s OBJECT_CHECK() might help detect development errors, i.e.
in form of crashes due to QOM vs. non-QOM mismatches rather than QOM
type mismatches, it is not really needed at runtime since mostly used in
CPU-specific paths, coming from a target-specific CPU subtype. If that
pointer is damaged, other errors are highly likely to occur elsewhere
anyway.

Keep the CPU() macro for a consistent developer experience and for
flexibility to exchange its implementation, but turn it into a pure,
unchecked C cast for now.

Compare commit 6e42be7cd1.
