The CXL r3.0 specification allows for there to be no HDM decoders on CXL
Host Bridges if they have only a single root port. Instead, all accesses
directed to the host bridge (as specified in CXL Fixed Memory Windows)
are assumed to be routed to the single root port.
Linux currently assumes this implementation choice. So to simplify testing,
make QEMU emulation also default to no HDM decoders under these particular
circumstances, but provide a hdm_for_passthrough boolean option to have
HDM decoders as previously.
Technically this is breaking backwards compatibility, but given the only
known software stack used with the QEMU emulation is the Linux kernel
and this configuration did not work before this change, there are
unlikely to be any complaints that it now works. The option is retained
to allow testing of software that does allow for these HDM decoders to exist,
once someone writes it.

The way that Xen handles MSI PIRQs is kind of awful.
There is a special MSI message which targets a PIRQ. The vector in the
low bits of data must be zero. The low 8 bits of the PIRQ# are in the
destination ID field, the extended destination ID field is unused, and
instead the high bits of the PIRQ# are in the high 32 bits of the address.
Using the high bits of the address means that we can't intercept and
translate these messages in kvm_send_msi(), because they won't be caught
by the APIC — addresses like 0x1000fee46000 aren't in the APIC's range.
So we catch them in pci_msi_trigger() instead, and deliver the event
channel directly.
That isn't even the worst part. The worst part is that Xen snoops on
writes to devices' MSI vectors while they are *masked*. When a MSI
message is written which looks like it targets a PIRQ, it remembers
the device and vector for later.
When the guest makes a hypercall to bind that PIRQ# (snooped from a
marked MSI vector) to an event channel port, Xen *unmasks* that MSI
vector on the device. Xen guests using PIRQ delivery of MSI don't
ever actually unmask the MSI for themselves.
Now that this is working we can finally enable XENFEAT_hvm_pirqs and
let the guest use it all.
Tested with passthrough igb and emulated e1000e + AHCI.

When ACPI PCI hotplug for Q35 was introduced (6.1), it was implemented
by hiding HPC capability on PCIE slot. That however led to a number of

That reduced meaning of x-native-hotplug to a compat knob [2] for

pci_bus_irqs() coupled together the assignment of pci_set_irq_fn and
pci_map_irq_fn to a PCI bus. This coupling gets in the way when the
pci_map_irq_fn is board-specific while the pci_set_irq_fn is device-
specific.
For example, both of QEMU's PIIX south bridge models have different
pci_map_irq_fn implementations which are board-specific rather than
device-specific. These implementations should therefore reside in board
code. The pci_set_irq_fn's, however, should stay in the device models
because they access memory internal to the model.
Factoring out pci_bus_map_irqs() from pci_bus_irqs() allows the
assignments to be decoupled, resolving the problem described above.
Note also how pci_vpb_realize() which gets touched in this commit
assigns different pci_map_irq_fn's depending on the board.

This patch introduce ECAP_PASID via "x-pasid-mode". Based on the
existing support for scalable mode, we need to implement the following
missing parts:
1) tag VTDAddressSpace with PASID and support IOMMU/DMA translation
with PASID
2) tag IOTLB with PASID
3) PASID cache and its flush
4) PASID based IOTLB invalidation
For simplicity PASID cache is not implemented so we can simply
implement the PASID cache flush as a no and leave it to be implemented
in the future. For PASID based IOTLB invalidation, since we haven't
had L1 stage support, the PASID based IOTLB invalidation is not
implemented yet. For PASID based device IOTLB invalidation, it
requires the support for vhost so we forbid enabling device IOTLB when
PASID is enabled now. Those work could be done in the future.
Note that though PASID based IOMMU translation is ready but no device
can issue PASID DMA right now. In this case, PCI_NO_PASID is used as
PASID to identify the address without PASID. vtd_find_add_as() has
been extended to provision address space with PASID which could be
utilized by the future extension of PCI core to allow device model to
use PASID based DMA translation.
This feature would be useful for:
1) prototyping PASID support for devices like virtio
2) future vPASID work
3) future PRS and vSVA work

There were several different ways to deal with the situation where the
vector specified for a msix function is out of bound:
- early return a function and keep progresssing
- propagate the error to the caller
- mark msix unusable
- assert it is in bound
- just ignore
An out-of-bound vector should not be specified if the device
implementation is correct so let msix functions always assert that the
specified vector is in range.
An exceptional case is virtio-pci, which allows the guest to configure
vectors. For virtio-pci, it is more appropriate to introduce its own
checks because it is sometimes too late to check the vector range in
msix functions.

pcie_doe_{read/write}_config() must be appended to corresponding PCI

This patch implements initial support for Single Root I/O Virtualization
on an NVMe device.
Essentially, it allows to define the maximum number of virtual functions
supported by the NVMe controller via sriov_max_vfs parameter.
Passing a non-zero value to sriov_max_vfs triggers reporting of SR-IOV
capability by a physical controller and ARI capability by both the
physical and virtual function devices.
NVMe controllers created via virtual functions mirror functionally
the physical controller, which may not entirely be the case, thus
consideration would be needed on the way to limit the capabilities of
the VF.
NVMe subsystem is required for the use of SR-IOV.

The CXL Early Discovery Table is defined in the CXL 2.0 specification as
a way for the OS to get CXL specific information from the system
firmware.
CXL 2.0 specification adds an _HID, ACPI0016, for CXL capable host
bridges, with a _CID of PNP0A08 (PCIe host bridge). CXL aware software
is able to use this initiate the proper _OSC method, and get the _UID
which is referenced by the CEDT. Therefore the existence of an ACPI0016
device allows a CXL aware driver perform the necessary actions. For a
CXL capable OS, this works. For a CXL unaware OS, this works.
CEDT awaremess requires more. The motivation for ACPI0017 is to provide
the possibility of having a Linux CXL module that can work on a legacy
Linux kernel. Linux core PCI/ACPI which won't be built as a module,
will see the _CID of PNP0A08 and bind a driver to it. If we later loaded
a driver for ACPI0016, Linux won't be able to bind it to the hardware
because it has already bound the PNP0A08 driver. The ACPI0017 device is
an opportunity to have an object to bind a driver will be used by a
Linux driver to walk the CXL topology and do everything that we would
have preferred to do with ACPI0016.
There is another motivation for an ACPI0017 device which isn't
implemented here. An operating system needs an attach point for a
non-volatile region provider that understands cross-hostbridge
interleaving. Since QEMU emulation doesn't support interleaving yet,
this is more important on the OS side, for now.
As of CXL 2.0 spec, only 1 sub structure is defined, the CXL Host Bridge
Structure (CHBS) which is primarily useful for telling the OS exactly
where the MMIO for the host bridge is.

A CXL memory device (AKA Type 3) is a CXL component that contains some
combination of volatile and persistent memory. It also implements the
previously defined mailbox interface as well as the memory device
firmware interface.
Although the memory device is configured like a normal PCIe device, the
memory traffic is on an entirely separate bus conceptually (using the
same physical wires as PCIe, but different protocol).
Once the CXL topology is fully configure and address decoders committed,
the guest physical address for the memory device is part of a larger
window which is owned by the platform. The creation of these windows
is later in this series.
The following example will create a 256M device in a 512M window:
-object "memory-backend-file,id=cxl-mem1,share,mem-path=cxl-type3,size=512M"
-device "cxl-type3,bus=rp0,memdev=cxl-mem1,id=cxl-pmem0"

This works like adding a typical pxb device, except the name is
'pxb-cxl' instead of 'pxb-pcie'. An example command line would be as
follows:
-device pxb-cxl,id=cxl.0,bus="pcie.0",bus_nr=1
A CXL PXB is backward compatible with PCIe. What this means in practice
is that an operating system that is unaware of CXL should still be able
to enumerate this topology as if it were PCIe.
One can create multiple CXL PXB host bridges, but a host bridge can only
be connected to the main root bus. Host bridges cannot appear elsewhere
in the topology.
Note that as of this patch, the ACPI tables needed for the host bridge
(specifically, an ACPI object in _SB named ACPI0016 and the CEDT) aren't
created. So while this patch internally creates it, it cannot be
properly used by an operating system or other system software.
Also necessary is to add an exception to scripts/device-crash-test
similar to that for exiting pxb as both must created on a PCIexpress
host bus.

The easiest way to differentiate a CXL bus, and a PCIE bus is using a
flag. A CXL bus, in hardware, is backward compatible with PCIE, and
therefore the code tries pretty hard to keep them in sync as much as
possible.
The other way to implement this would be to try to cast the bus to the
correct type. This is less code and useful for debugging via simply
looking at the flags.

A CXL component is a hardware entity that implements CXL component
registers from the CXL 2.0 spec (8.2.3). Currently these represent 3
general types.
1. Host Bridge
2. Ports (root, upstream, downstream)
3. Devices (memory, other)
A CXL component can be conceptually thought of as a PCIe device with
extra functionality when enumerated and enabled. For this reason, CXL
does here, and will continue to add on to existing PCI code paths.
Host bridges will typically need to be handled specially and so they can
implement this newly introduced interface or not. All other components
should implement this interface. Implementing this interface allows the
core PCI code to treat these devices as special where appropriate.

In x86/ACPI world, linux distros are using predictable
network interface naming since systemd v197. Which on
QEMU based VMs results into path based naming scheme,
that names network interfaces based on PCI topology.
With itm on has to plug NIC in exactly the same bus/slot,
which was used when disk image was first provisioned/configured
or one risks to loose network configuration due to NIC being
renamed to actually used topology.
That also restricts freedom to reshape PCI configuration of
VM without need to reconfigure used guest image.
systemd also offers "onboard" naming scheme which is
preferred over PCI slot/topology one, provided that
firmware implements:
"
PCI Firmware Specification 3.1
4.6.7. DSM for Naming a PCI or PCI Express Device Under
Operating Systems
"
that allows to assign user defined index to PCI device,
which systemd will use to name NIC. For example, using
-device e1000,acpi-index=100
guest will rename NIC to 'eno100', where 'eno' is default
prefix for "onboard" naming scheme. This doesn't require
any advance configuration on guest side to com in effect
at 'onboard' scheme takes priority over path based naming.
Hope is that 'acpi-index' it will be easier to consume by
management layer, compared to forcing specific PCI topology
and/or having several disk image templates for different
topologies and will help to simplify process of spawning
VM from the same template without need to reconfigure
guest NIC.
This patch adds, 'acpi-index'* property and wires up
a 32bit register on top of pci hotplug register block
to pass index value to AML code at runtime.
Following patch will add corresponding _DSM code and
wire it up to PCI devices described in ACPI.

migration purposes. The VM will fail to start if the ROM is too large,
and migration compatibility will not be broken if the ROM is too small.
Note that even though romsize is a uint32_t, it has to be between 1

than the file) and 2^31 (because values above are not powers of two and

These changes introduces models for the PCIe Host Bridge (PHB4) of the
POWER9 processor. It includes the PowerBus logic interface (PBCQ),
IOMMU support, a single PCIe Gen.4 Root Complex, and support for MSI
and LSI interrupt sources as found on a POWER9 system using the XIVE
interrupt controller.
POWER9 processor comes with 3 PHB4 PEC (PCI Express Controller) and
each PEC can have several PHBs. By default,
* PEC0 provides 1 PHB (PHB0)
* PEC1 provides 2 PHBs (PHB1 and PHB2)
* PEC2 provides 3 PHBs (PHB3, PHB4 and PHB5)
Each PEC has a set "global" registers and some "per-stack" (per-PHB)
registers. Those are organized in two XSCOM ranges, the "Nest" range
and the "PCI" range, each range contains both some "PEC" registers and
some "per-stack" registers.
No default device layout is provided and PCI devices can be added on
any of the available PCIe Root Port (pcie.0 .. 2 of a Power9 chip)
with address 0x0 as the firwware (skiboot) only accepts a single
device per root port. To run a simple system with a network and a
storage adapters, use a command line options such as :
-device e1000e,netdev=net0,mac=C0:FF:EE:00:00:02,bus=pcie.0,addr=0x0
-netdev bridge,id=net0,helper=/usr/libexec/qemu-bridge-helper,br=virbr0,id=hostnet0
-device megasas,id=scsi0,bus=pcie.1,addr=0x0
-drive file=$disk,if=none,id=drive-scsi0-0-0-0,format=qcow2,cache=none
-device scsi-hd,bus=scsi0.0,channel=0,scsi-id=0,lun=0,drive=drive-scsi0-0-0-0,id=scsi0-0-0-0,bootindex=2
If more are needed, include a bridge.
Multi chip is supported, each chip adding its set of PHB4 controllers
and its PCI busses. The model doesn't emulate the EEH error handling.
This model is not ready for hotplug yet.
