Meson doesn't enjoy the same flexibility we have with Make in choosing
the include path. In particular the tracing headers are using
$(build_root)/$(<D).
In order to keep the include directives unchanged,
the simplest solution is to generate headers with patterns like
"trace/trace-audio.h" and place forwarding headers in the source tree
such that for example "audio/trace.h" includes "trace/trace-audio.h".
This patch is too ugly to be applied to the Makefiles now. It's only
a way to separate the changes to the tracing header files from the
Meson rewrite of the tracing logic.

QEMU allows to create SD card with unrealistic sizes. This could
work, but some guests (at least Linux) consider sizes that are not
a power of 2 as a firmware bug and fix the card size to the next
power of 2.
While the possibility to use small SD card images has been seen as
a feature, it became a bug with CVE-2020-13253, where the guest is
able to do OOB read/write accesses past the image size end.
In a pair of commits we will fix CVE-2020-13253 as:
Read command is rejected if BLOCK_LEN_ERROR or ADDRESS_ERROR
occurred and no data transfer is performed.
Write command is rejected if BLOCK_LEN_ERROR or ADDRESS_ERROR
occurred and no data transfer is performed.
WP_VIOLATION errors are not modified: the error bit is set, we
stay in receive-data state, wait for a stop command. All further
data transfer is ignored. See the check on sd->card_status at the
beginning of sd_read_data() and sd_write_data().
While this is the correct behavior, in case QEMU create smaller SD
cards, guests still try to access past the image size end, and QEMU
considers this is an invalid address, thus "all further data transfer
is ignored". This is wrong and make the guest looping until
eventually timeouts.
Fix by not allowing invalid SD card sizes (suggesting the expected
size as a hint):
$ qemu-system-arm -M orangepi-pc -drive file=rootfs.ext2,if=sd,format=raw
qemu-system-arm: Invalid SD card size: 60 MiB
SD card size has to be a power of 2, e.g. 64 MiB.
You can resize disk images with 'qemu-img resize <imagefile> <new-size>'
(note that this will lose data if you make the image smaller than it currently is).

If we want to check error after errp-function call, we need to
introduce local_err and then propagate it to errp. Instead, use
the ERRP_GUARD() macro, benefits are:
1. No need of explicit error_propagate call
2. No need of explicit local_err variable: use errp directly
3. ERRP_GUARD() leaves errp as is if it's not NULL or
&error_fatal, this means that we don't break error_abort
(we'll abort on error_set, not on error_propagate)
If we want to add some info to errp (by error_prepend() or
error_append_hint()), we must use the ERRP_GUARD() macro.
Otherwise, this info will not be added when errp == &error_fatal
(the program will exit prior to the error_append_hint() or
error_prepend() call). No such cases are being fixed here.

Not exactly elegant, I'm afraid.
The "when != lbl:" is necessary to avoid transforming
if (fun(args, &err)) {
goto out
}
...
out:
error_propagate(errp, err);
even though other paths to label out still need the error_propagate().
For an actual example, see sclp_realize().
Without the "when strict", Coccinelle transforms vfio_msix_setup(),
incorrectly. I don't know what exactly "when strict" does, only that
it helps here.
The match of return is narrower than what I want, but I can't figure
out how to express "return where the operand doesn't use @err". For
an example where it's too narrow, see vfio_intx_enable().

The FROM_SSI_SLAVE() macro predates QOM and is used as a typesafe way
to cast from an SSISlave* to the instance struct of a subtype of
TYPE_SSI_SLAVE. Switch to using the QOM cast macros instead, which
have the same effect (by writing the QOM macros if the types were
previously missing them.)
(The FROM_SSI_SLAVE() macro allows the SSISlave member of the
subtype's struct to be anywhere as long as it is named "ssidev",
whereas a QOM cast macro insists that it is the first thing in the
subtype's struct. This is true for all the types we convert here.)
This removes all the uses of FROM_SSI_SLAVE() so we can delete the
definition.

The Error ** argument must be NULL, &error_abort, &error_fatal, or a
pointer to a variable containing NULL. Passing an argument of the
latter kind twice without clearing it in between is wrong: if the
first call sets an error, it no longer points to NULL for the second
call.
milkymist_memcard_realize() is wrong that way: it passes &err to
qdev_prop_set_drive_err() and qdev_realize_and_unref(). Currently
harmless, because the latter uses it only as first argument of
error_propagate().
Making qdev_prop_set_drive_err() fail involves abuse of -global.
Leave handling that to qdev_prop_set_drive(), like we do elsewhere.

Commit 260bc9d8aa "hw/sd/sd.c: QOMify" QOMified only the device
itself, not its users. It kept sd_init() around for non-QOMified
users.
More than four years later, three such users remain: omap1 (machines
cheetah, sx1, sx1-v1) and omap2 (machines n800, n810) are not
QOMified, and pl181 (machines integratorcp, realview-eb,
realview-eb-mpcore, realview-pb-a8 realview-pbx-a9, versatileab,
versatilepb, vexpress-a15, vexpress-a9) is not QOMified properly.
The issue I presently have with this: an "sd-card" device should plug
into an "sd-bus" (its DeviceClass member bus_type says so), but
sd_init() leaves it unplugged. This is normally a bug (I just fixed
some instances), and I'd like to assert proper pluggedness to prevent
regressions. However, the qdev-but-not-quite thing returned by
sd_init() would fail the assertion. Meh.
Make sd_init() hide it from QOM/qdev. Visible in "info qom-tree",

realize it. Affects machines akita, borzoi, connex, mainstone, spitz,
terrier, tosa, verdex, and z2.
In theory, a device becomes real only on realize. In practice, the
transition from unreal to real is a fuzzy one. The work to make a
device real can be spread between realize methods (fine),
instance_init methods (wrong), and board code wiring up the device
(fine as long as it effectively happens on realize). Depending on
what exactly is done where, a device can work even when we neglect
to realize it.
This one appears to work. Nevertheless, it's a clear misuse of the
interface. Even when it works today (more or less by chance), it can
break tomorrow.

Devices may have component devices and buses.
Device realization may fail. Realization is recursive: a device's
realize() method realizes its components, and device_set_realized()
realizes its buses (which should in turn realize the devices on that
bus, except bus_set_realized() doesn't implement that, yet).
When realization of a component or bus fails, we need to roll back:
unrealize everything we realized so far. If any of these unrealizes
failed, the device would be left in an inconsistent state. Must not
happen.
device_set_realized() lets it happen: it ignores errors in the roll
back code starting at label child_realize_fail.
Since realization is recursive, unrealization must be recursive, too.
But how could a partly failed unrealize be rolled back? We'd have to
re-realize, which can fail. This design is fundamentally broken.
device_set_realized() does not roll back at all. Instead, it keeps
unrealizing, ignoring further errors.
It can screw up even for a device with no buses: if the lone
dc->unrealize() fails, it still unregisters vmstate, and calls
listeners' unrealize() callback.
bus_set_realized() does not roll back either. Instead, it stops
unrealizing.
Fortunately, no unrealize method can fail, as we'll see below.
To fix the design error, drop parameter @errp from all the unrealize
methods.
Any unrealize method that uses @errp now needs an update. This leads
us to unrealize() methods that can fail. Merely passing it to another
unrealize method cannot cause failure, though. Here are the ones that
do other things with @errp:
* virtio_serial_device_unrealize()
Fails when qbus_set_hotplug_handler() fails, but still does all the
other work. On failure, the device would stay realized with its
resources completely gone. Oops. Can't happen, because
qbus_set_hotplug_handler() can't actually fail here. Pass
&error_abort to qbus_set_hotplug_handler() instead.
* hw/ppc/spapr_drc.c's unrealize()
Fails when object_property_del() fails, but all the other work is
already done. On failure, the device would stay realized with its
vmstate registration gone. Oops. Can't happen, because
object_property_del() can't actually fail here. Pass &error_abort
to object_property_del() instead.
* spapr_phb_unrealize()
Fails and bails out when remove_drcs() fails, but other work is
already done. On failure, the device would stay realized with some
of its resources gone. Oops. remove_drcs() fails only when
chassis_from_bus()'s object_property_get_uint() fails, and it can't
here. Pass &error_abort to remove_drcs() instead.
Therefore, no unrealize method can fail before this patch.
device_set_realized()'s recursive unrealization via bus uses
object_property_set_bool(). Can't drop @errp there, so pass
&error_abort.
We similarly unrealize with object_property_set_bool() elsewhere,
always ignoring errors. Pass &error_abort instead.
Several unrealize methods no longer handle errors from other unrealize
methods: virtio_9p_device_unrealize(),
virtio_input_device_unrealize(), scsi_qdev_unrealize(), ...
Much of the deleted error handling looks wrong anyway.
One unrealize methods no longer ignore such errors:
usb_ehci_pci_exit().
Several realize methods no longer ignore errors when rolling back:
v9fs_device_realize_common(), pci_qdev_unrealize(),
spapr_phb_realize(), usb_qdev_realize(), vfio_ccw_realize(),
virtio_device_realize().

them. Downgrade two more to qapi/qapi-types-run-state.h, and move one
from char/serial.h to char/serial.c.
hw/semihosting/config.c, monitor/monitor.c, qdev-monitor.c, and
stubs/semihost.c define variables declared in sysemu/sysemu.h without
including it. The compiler is cool with that, but include it anyway.
This doesn't reduce actual use much, as it's still included into
widely included headers. The next commit will tackle that.

s->iomem that sdhci_common_realize() performs. However we
don't destroy the old memory region before reinitializing
it, which means that the memory allocated for mr->name in

Since sdhci_initfn() already initializes s->io_ops to
&sdhci_mmio_ops, always use that in sdhci_common_realize()

DeviceClass::reset models a "cold power-on" reset which can
also be used to powercycle a device; but there is no "hot reset"
(a.k.a. soft-reset) method available.
The OMAP MMC Power-Up Control bit is not designed to powercycle
a card, but to disable it without powering it off (pseudo-reset):
Multimedia Card (MMC/SD/SDIO) Interface [SPRU765A]
MMC_CON[11] Power-Up Control (POW)
This bit must be set to 1 before any valid transaction to either
MMC/SD or SPI memory cards.
When 1, the card is considered powered-up and the controller core
is enabled.
When 0, the card is considered powered-down (system dependent),
and the controller core logic is in pseudo-reset state. This is,
the MMC_STAT flags and the FIFO pointers are reset, any access to
MMC_DATA[DATA] has no effect, a write into the MMC.CMD register
is ignored, and a setting of MMC_SPI[STR] to 1 is ignored.
By splitting the 'pseudo-reset' code out of the 'power-on' reset
function, this patch fixes a latent bug in omap_mmc_write(MMC_CON)i
recently exposed by ecd219f7ab.

We don't actually implement SD command CRC checking, because
for almost all of our SD controllers the CRC generation is
done in hardware, and so modelling CRC generation and checking
would be a bit pointless. (The exception is that milkymist-memcard
makes the guest software compute the CRC.)
As a result almost all of our SD controller models don't bother
to set the SDRequest crc field, and the SD card model doesn't
check it. So the tracing of it in sdbus_do_command() provokes
Coverity warnings about use of uninitialized data.

The initial implementation is based on the Specs v1.10 (see a1bb27b1e9).
However the SCR is anouncing the card being v1.01.
The new chapters added in version 1.10 are:
4.3.10 Switch function command
Switch function command (CMD6) 1 is used to switch or expand
memory card functions. [...]
This is a new feature, introduced in SD physical Layer
Specification Version 1.10. Therefore, cards that are
compatible with earlier versions of the spec do not support
it. The host shall check the "SD_SPEC" field in the SCR
register to recognize what version of the spec the card
complies with before using CMD6. It is mandatory for SD
memory card of Ver1.10 to support CMD6.
4.3.11 High-Speed mode (25MB/sec interface speed)
Though the Rev 1.01 SD memory card supports up to 12.5MB/sec
interface speed, the speed of 25MB/sec is necessary to support
increasing performance needs of the host and because of memory
size which continues to grow.
To achieve 25MB/sec interface speed, clock rate is increased to
50MHz and CLK/CMD/DAT signal timing and circuit conditions are
reconsidered and changed from Physical Layer Specification
Version 1.01.
4.3.12 Command system (This chapter is newly added in version 1.10)
SD commands CMD34-37, CMD50, CMD57 are reserved for SD command
system expansion via the switch command.
[These commands] will be considered as illegal commands (as
defined in revision 1.01 of the SD physical layer specification).
The SWITCH_FUNCTION is implemented since the first commit, a1bb27b1e9.
The 25MB/sec High-Speed mode was already updated in d7ecb86752.
The current implementation does not implements CMD34-37, CMD50 and
CMD57, thus these commands already return ILLEGAL.
With this patch, the SCR register now matches the description of the header:
* SD Memory Card emulation as defined in the "SD Memory Card Physical
* layer specification, Version 1.10."

Per the Physical Layer Simplified Spec. "4.3.10.4 Switch Function Status":
The block length is predefined to 512 bits
and "4.10.2 SD Status":
The SD Status contains status bits that are related to the SD Memory Card
proprietary features and may be used for future application-specific usage.
The size of the SD Status is one data block of 512 bit. The content of this
register is transmitted to the Host over the DAT bus along with a 16-bit CRC.
Thus the 16-bit CRC goes at offset 64.

The Linux bcm2835_sdhost driver doesn't work on QEMU, because our
model raises spurious data interrupts. Our function
bcm2835_sdhost_fifo_run() will flag an interrupt any time it is
called with s->datacnt == 0, even if the host hasn't actually issued
a data read or write command yet. This means that the driver gets a
spurious data interrupt as soon as it enables IRQs and then does
something else that causes us to call the fifo_run routine, like
writing to SDHCFG, and before it does the write to SDCMD to issue the
read. The driver's IRQ handler then spins forever complaining that
there's no data and the SD controller isn't in a state where there's
going to be any data:
[ 41.040738] sdhost-bcm2835 3f202000.mmc: fsm 1, hsts 00000000
[ 41.042059] sdhost-bcm2835 3f202000.mmc: fsm 1, hsts 00000000
(continues forever).
Move the interrupt flag setting to more plausible places:
* for BUSY, raise this as soon as a BUSYWAIT command has executed
* for DATA, raise this when the FIFO has any space free (for a write)
or any data in it (for a read)
* for BLOCK, raise this when the data count is 0 and we've
actually done some reading or writing
This is pure guesswork since the documentation for this hardware is
not public, but it is sufficient to get the Linux bcm2835_sdhost
driver to work.

A known data block ("Tuning block") can be used to tune sampling

the timing budget including process, voltage and different PCB
loads and skews. [...]

Failing to do this mostly didn't affect the guest since the

In the case of sd-ssi, we have to implement an entire
reset function since there wasn't one previously, and
that requires a QOM cast macro that got omitted when this
device was QOMified.

Add INTERFACE_CONVENTIONAL_PCI_DEVICE to all direct subtypes of
TYPE_PCI_DEVICE, except:
1) The ones that already have INTERFACE_PCIE_DEVICE set:
* base-xhci
* e1000e
* nvme
* pvscsi
* vfio-pci
* virtio-pci
* vmxnet3
2) base-pci-bridge
Not all PCI bridges are Conventional PCI devices, so
INTERFACE_CONVENTIONAL_PCI_DEVICE is added only to the subtypes
that are actually Conventional PCI:
* dec-21154-p2p-bridge
* i82801b11-bridge
* pbm-bridge
* pci-bridge
The direct subtypes of base-pci-bridge not touched by this patch
are:
* xilinx-pcie-root: Already marked as PCIe-only.
* pcie-pci-bridge: Already marked as PCIe-only.
* pcie-port: all non-abstract subtypes of pcie-port are already
marked as PCIe-only devices.
3) megasas-base
Not all megasas devices are Conventional PCI devices, so the
interface names are added to the subclasses registered by
megasas_register_types(), according to information in the
megasas_devices[] array.
"megasas-gen2" already implements INTERFACE_PCIE_DEVICE, so add
INTERFACE_CONVENTIONAL_PCI_DEVICE only to "megasas".

commit 33cd52b5d7 unset
cannot_instantiate_with_device_add_yet in TYPE_SYSBUS, making all
sysbus devices appear on "-device help" and lack the "no-user"
flag in "info qdm".
To fix this, we can set user_creatable=false by default on
TYPE_SYS_BUS_DEVICE, but this requires setting
user_creatable=true explicitly on the sysbus devices that
actually work with -device.
Fortunately today we have just a few has_dynamic_sysbus=1
machines: virt, pc-q35-*, ppce500, and spapr.
virt, ppce500, and spapr have extra checks to ensure just a few
device types can be instantiated:
* virt supports only TYPE_VFIO_CALXEDA_XGMAC, TYPE_VFIO_AMD_XGBE.
* ppce500 supports only TYPE_ETSEC_COMMON.
* spapr supports only TYPE_SPAPR_PCI_HOST_BRIDGE.
This patch sets user_creatable=true explicitly on those 4 device
classes.
Now, the more complex cases:
pc-q35-*: q35 has no sysbus device whitelist yet (which is a
separate bug). We are in the process of fixing it and building a
sysbus whitelist on q35, but in the meantime we can fix the
"-device help" and "info qdm" bugs mentioned above. Also, despite
not being strictly necessary for fixing the q35 bug, reducing the
list of user_creatable=true devices will help us be more
confident when building the q35 whitelist.
xen: We also have a hack at xen_set_dynamic_sysbus(), that sets
has_dynamic_sysbus=true at runtime when using the Xen
accelerator. This hack is only used to allow xen-backend devices
to be dynamically plugged/unplugged.
This means today we can use -device with the following 22 device
types, that are the ones compiled into the qemu-system-x86_64 and
qemu-system-i386 binaries:
* allwinner-ahci
* amd-iommu
* cfi.pflash01
* esp
* fw_cfg_io
* fw_cfg_mem
* generic-sdhci
* hpet
* intel-iommu
* ioapic
* isabus-bridge
* kvmclock
* kvm-ioapic
* kvmvapic
* SUNW,fdtwo
* sysbus-ahci
* sysbus-fdc
* sysbus-ohci
* unimplemented-device
* virtio-mmio
* xen-backend
* xen-sysdev
This patch adds user_creatable=true explicitly to those devices,
temporarily, just to keep 100% compatibility with existing
behavior of q35. Subsequent patches will remove
user_creatable=true from the devices that are really not meant to
user-creatable on any machine, and remove the FIXME comment from
the ones that are really supposed to be user-creatable. This is
being done in separate patches because we still don't have an
obvious list of devices that will be whitelisted by q35, and I
would like to get each device reviewed individually.

cannot_instantiate_with_device_add_yet was introduced by commit
efec3dd631 to replace no_user. It was
supposed to be a temporary measure.
When it was introduced, we had 54
cannot_instantiate_with_device_add_yet=true lines in the code.
Today (3 years later) this number has not shrunk: we now have
57 cannot_instantiate_with_device_add_yet=true lines. I think it
is safe to say it is not a temporary measure, and we won't see
the flag go away soon.
Instead of a long field name that misleads people to believe it
is temporary, replace it a shorter and less misleading field:
user_creatable.

The member VMStateField.start is used for two things, partial data
migration for VBUFFER data (basically provide migration for a
sub-buffer) and for locating next in QTAILQ.
The implementation of the VBUFFER feature is broken when VMSTATE_ALLOC

for VBUFFER is not used at all.
Let's consolidate the usage of VMStateField.start by removing support

This patch replaces get_ticks_per_sec() calls with the macro
NANOSECONDS_PER_SECOND. Also, as there are no callers, get_ticks_per_sec()
is then removed. This replacement improves the readability and
understandability of code.
For example,
timer_mod(fdctrl->result_timer,
qemu_clock_get_ns(QEMU_CLOCK_VIRTUAL) + (get_ticks_per_sec() / 50));
NANOSECONDS_PER_SECOND makes it obvious that qemu_clock_get_ns

Commit 57cb38b included qapi/error.h into qemu/osdep.h to get the
Error typedef. Since then, we've moved to include qemu/osdep.h
everywhere. Its file comment explains: "To avoid getting into
possible circular include dependencies, this file should not include
any other QEMU headers, with the exceptions of config-host.h,
compiler.h, os-posix.h and os-win32.h, all of which are doing a
similar job to this file and are under similar constraints."
qapi/error.h doesn't do a similar job, and it doesn't adhere to
similar constraints: it includes qapi-types.h. That's in excess of
100KiB of crap most .c files don't actually need.
Add the typedef to qemu/typedefs.h, and include that instead of
qapi/error.h. Include qapi/error.h in .c files that need it and don't
get it now. Include qapi-types.h in qom/object.h for uint16List.
Update scripts/clean-includes accordingly. Update it further to match
reality: replace config.h by config-target.h, add sysemu/os-posix.h,
sysemu/os-win32.h. Update the list of includes in the qemu/osdep.h
comment quoted above similarly.
This reduces the number of objects depending on qapi/error.h from "all
of them" to less than a third. Unfortunately, the number depending on
qapi-types.h shrinks only a little. More work is needed for that one.

The SD card object is not a SysBusDevice, so don't create it with
qdev_create() if we're not assigning it to a specific bus; use
object_new() instead.
This was causing 'info qtree' to segfault on boards with SD cards,
because qdev_create(NULL, TYPE_FOO) puts the created object on the
system bus, and then we may try to run functions like sysbus_dev_print()
on it, which fail when casting the object to SysBusDevice.
(This is the same mistake that we made with the NAND device
and fixed in commit 6749695eaaf346c1.)

This quirk is a workaround for the following hardware behaviour, on
which UEFI (specifically, the bootloader for Windows on Pi2) depends:
1. at boot with an SD card present, the interrupt status/enable
registers are initially zero
2. upon enabling it in the interrupt enable register, the card insert
bit in the interrupt status register is immediately set
3. after a subsequent controller reset, the card insert interrupt does
not fire, even if enabled in the interrupt enable register

This reverts commit 723697551a.
This change was poorly tested on my part. It squelched card insertion
interrupts on reset, but that was not necessary because sdhci_reset()
clears all the registers (via the call to memset), so the subsequent
sdhci_insert_eject_cb() call never sees the card insert interrupt
enabled. However, not calling the insert_eject_cb results in prnsts
remaining 0, when it actually needs to be updated to indicate card
presence and R/O status.

The SD spec for ACMD41 says that a zero argument is an "inquiry"
ACMD41, which does not start initialisation and is used only for
retrieving the OCR. However, Tianocore EDK2 (UEFI) has a bug [1]: it
first sends an inquiry (zero) ACMD41. If that first request returns an
OCR value with the power up bit (0x80000000) set, it assumes the card
is ready and continues, leaving the card in the wrong state. (My
assumption is that this works on hardware, because no real card is
immediately powered up upon reset.)
This change models a delay of 0.5ms from the first ACMD41 to the power
being up. However, it also immediately sets the power on upon seeing a
non-zero (non-enquiry) ACMD41. This speeds up UEFI boot, it should
also account for guests that simply delay after card reset and then
issue an ACMD41 that they expect will succeed.

Note that since sd_enable() is used only by one board and there
only as part of a broken implementation, we do not provide it in
the SDBus API (but instead add a warning comment about the old
function). Whoever converts OMAP and the nseries boards to QOM
will need to either implement the card switch properly or move
the enable hack into the OMAP MMC controller model.
In the SDBus API, the old-style use of sd_set_cb to register some
qemu_irqs for notification of card insertion and write-protect
toggling is replaced with methods in the SDBusClass which the
card calls on status changes and methods in the SDClass which
the controller can call to find out the current status. The
query methods will allow us to remove the abuse of the 'register
irqs' API by controllers in their reset methods to trigger
the card to tell them about the current status again.

This check was conditionalising SD card operation on the card being
powered by the SDHCI host controller. It is however possible
(particularly in embedded systems) for the power control of the SD card
to be managed outside of SDHCI. This can be as trivial as hard-wiring
the SD slot VCC to a constant power-rail.
This means the guest SDHCI can validly opt-out of the SDHCI power
control feature while still using the card. So delete this check to
allow operation of the card with SDHCI power control.
This is needed for at least Xilinx Zynq and Raspberry Pi, and
also makes Freescale i.MX25 work for me. The digilent Zybo board
has a public schematic which shows SD VCC hardwiring:

"sdhci-pci" (which already attached the backend), and then we don't
want to attach a second time. If we ever create another failure mode,
we're setting up ourselves to using the same backend from multiple
frontends, which is likely to end in tears. Can't clean this up this
close to the release, so mark it FIXME.

We currently fuse controller and card into a single device model, but
we intend qomify things properly and separate the two. The properties
that really belong to the card would then have to somehow pass-through
to the card's properties. To avoid that complication, either mark
them experimental or drop them.
Properties "capareg", "maxcurr" and the usual PCI device properties
belong to the controller. Property "drive" belongs to the card;
rename it to "x-drive". Properties "logical_block_size",
"physical_block_size", "min_io_size", "opt_io_size",
"discard_granularity" belong to the card, but have no effect; drop

For onboard devices, board code sets them.
A number of sysbus devices pick up block backends in their init() /
instance_init() methods with drive_get_next() instead: sl-nand,
milkymist-memcard, pl181, generic-sdhci.
Likewise, a number of sysbus devices pick up character backends in
their init() / realize() methods with qemu_char_get_next_serial():
cadence_uart, digic-uart, etraxfs,serial, lm32-juart, lm32-uart,

All these mistakes are already marked FIXME. See the commit that

drive_get_next() instead. Already marked FIXME. See the commit that

We can't fix this in time for the release, but since the device is new
in 2.3, we can set cannot_instantiate_with_device_add_yet to disable
it before this mistake becomes ABI, and we have to support command
lines like
$ qemu -drive if=sd -drive if=sd,file=sd.img -device sdhci-pci -device sdhci-pci
forever.

Drives defined with if!=none are for board initialization to wire up.
Board code calls drive_get() or similar to find them, and creates
devices with their qdev drive properties set accordingly.
Except a few devices go on a fishing expedition for a suitable backend
instead of exposing a drive property for board code to set: they call
driver_get() or drive_get_next() in their realize() or init() method
to implicitly connect to the "next" backend with a certain interface
type.
Picking up backends that way works when the devices are created by
board code. But it's inappropriate for -device or device_add. Not
only is this inconsistent with how the other block device models work
(they connect to a backend explicitly identified by a "drive"
property), it breaks when the "next" backend has been picked up by the
board already.
Example:
$ qemu-system-arm -S -M connex -pflash flash.img -device ssi-sd
Aborted (core dumped)

Device models should access their block backends only through the
block-backend.h API. Convert them, and drop direct includes of
inappropriate headers.
Just four uses of BlockDriverState are left:
* The Xen paravirtual block device backend (xen_disk.c) opens images
itself when set up via xenbus, bypassing blockdev.c. I figure it
should go through qmp_blockdev_add() instead.
* Device model "usb-storage" prompts for keys. No other device model
does, and this one probably shouldn't do it, either.
* ide_issue_trim_cb() uses bdrv_aio_discard() instead of
blk_aio_discard() because it fishes its backend out of a BlockAIOCB,
which has only the BlockDriverState.
* PC87312State has an unused BlockDriverState[] member.

In an ideal world, machines can be built by wiring devices together
with configuration, not code. Unfortunately, that's not the world we
live in right now. We still have quite a few devices that need to be
wired up by code. If you try to device_add such a device, it'll fail
in sometimes mysterious ways. If you're lucky, you get an
unmysterious immediate crash.
To protect users from such badness, DeviceClass member no_user used to
make device models unavailable with -device / device_add, but that
regressed in commit 18b6dad. The device model is still omitted from
help, but is available anyway.
Attempts to fix the regression have been rejected with the argument
that the purpose of no_user isn't clear, and it's prone to misuse.
This commit clarifies no_user's purpose. Anthony suggested to rename
it cannot_instantiate_with_device_add_yet_due_to_internal_bugs, which
I shorten somewhat to keep checkpatch happy. While there, make it
bool.
Every use of cannot_instantiate_with_device_add_yet gets a FIXME
comment asking for rationale. The next few commits will clean them
all up, either by providing a rationale, or by getting rid of the use.
With that done, the regression fix is hopefully acceptable.
