Considering that features are converted to global properties and
global properties are automatically applied to every new instance
of created CPU (at object_new() time), there is no point in
parsing cpu_model string every time a CPU created. So move
parsing outside CPU creation loop and do it only once.
Parsing also should be done before any CPU is created so that
features would affect the first CPU a well.

Commit "8156d48 pc: allow raising low memory via max-ram-below-4g
option" causes a regression on xen, because it uses a different
memory split.
This patch initializes max-ram-below-4g to zero and leaves the
initialization to the memory initialization functions. That way
they can pick different default values (max-ram-below-4g is zero
still) or use the user supplied value (max-ram-below-4g is non-zero).
Also skip the whole ram split calculation on Xen. xen_ram_init()
does its own split calculation anyway so it is superfluous, also
this way xen_ram_init can actually see whenever max-ram-below-4g
is zero or not.

The port92 device has outgouing IRQ line A20. Currently the IRQ is referenced
by a pointer which normally is set during machine initialization. The
pointer is never changed at runtime. Hence, common GPIO model can be applied
to A20 IRQ line. Note that checking for IRQ to be connected as in
previous version of code is not required qemu_set_irq will do it.

PCMachineState.node_cpu was used for mapping APIC ID
to numa node id as CPU entries in SRAT used to be
built on sparse APIC ID bitmap (up to apic_id_limit).
However since commit
5803fce pc: acpi: SRAT: create only valid processor lapic entries
CPU entries in SRAT aren't build using apic bitmap
but using 0..maxcpus index instead which is also used
for creating numa_info[x].node_cpu map.
So instead of doing useless intermediate conversion from
1. node by cpu index -> node by apic id
i.e. numa_info[x].node_cpu -> PCMachineState.node_cpu
2. apic id -> srat entry PMX
PCMachineState.node_cpu[apic id] -> PMX value
use numa_info[x].node_cpu map directly like ARM does and do
1. numa_info[x].node_cpu -> PMX value using index
in range 0..maxcpus
and drop not necessary PCMachineState.node_cpu and related
code.
That also removes the last (not counting legacy hotplug)
dependency of ACPI code on apic_id_limit and need to allocate
huge sparse PCMachineState.node_cpu array in case of 32-bit
APIC IDs.

This patch extends the functionality of the max-ram-below-4g option
to also allow increasing lowmem. Use case: Give as much memory as
possible to legacy non-PAE guests.
While being at it also rework the lowmem calculation logic and add a
longish comment describing how it works and what the compatibility
constrains are.
Note: This is a incompatible change. When setting max-ram-below-4g to
a value larger than 3.5G (or 3G with gigabyte alignment) it has no
effect on older qemu versions: qemu silently ignores it. With the patch
applied it actually has an effect and changes the ram layout. Highly
unlikely to hit in practive though as there is no reason start old qemu
versions that way.

Entries are inserted in filename order instead of being
appended to the end in case sorting is enabled.
This will avoid any future issues of moving the file creation
around, it doesn't matter what order they are created now,
the will always be in filename order.

Added machine type handling for compatibility. This was
a fairly complex change, this will preserve the order of fw_cfg
for older versions no matter what order the firmware files
actually come in. A list is kept of the correct legacy order
and the entries will be inserted based upon their order in
the list. Except that some entries are ordered (in a specific
area of the list) based upon what order they appear on the
command line. Special handling is added for those entries.

on x86 currently range 0..max_cpus is used to generate
architecture-dependent CPU ID (APIC Id) for each present
and possible CPUs. However architecture-dependent CPU IDs
list could be sparse and code that needs to enumerate
all IDs (ACPI) ended up doing guess work enumerating all
possible and impossible IDs up to
apic_id_limit = x86_cpu_apic_id_from_index(max_cpus).
That leads to creation of MADT entries and Processor
objects in ACPI tables for not possible CPUs.
Fix it by allowing board specify a concrete list of
CPU IDs accourding its own rules (which for x86 depends
on topology). So that code that needs this list could
request it from board instead of trying to guess
what IDs are correct on its own.
This interface will also allow to help making AML
part of CPU hotplug target independent so it could
be reused for ARM target.

32 bits IO port starting from 0x0a18 in guest is reserved for NVDIMM
ACPI emulation. The table, NVDIMM_DSM_MEM_FILE, will be patched into
NVDIMM ACPI binary code
OSPM uses this port to tell QEMU the final address of the DSM memory
and notify QEMU to emulate the DSM method

Make it possible to query the CMOS type of a floppy drive outside of the
source file where it's defined.
It will allow to properly populate the corresponding ACPI objects and
thus enable Windows on BIOS-less systems to access the floppy drives.

Similar to the previous patch, it's nice to have all functions
in the tree that involve a visitor and a name for conversion to
or from QAPI to consistently stick the 'name' parameter next
to the Visitor parameter.
Done by manually changing include/qom/object.h and qom/object.c,
then running this Coccinelle script and touching up the fallout
(Coccinelle insisted on adding some trailing whitespace).

JSON uses "name":value, but many of our visitor interfaces were
called with visit_type_FOO(v, &value, name, errp). This can be
a bit confusing to have to mentally swap the parameter order to
match JSON order. It's particularly bad for visit_start_struct(),
where the 'name' parameter is smack in the middle of the
otherwise-related group of 'obj, kind, size' parameters! It's
time to do a global swap of the parameter ordering, so that the
'name' parameter is always immediately after the Visitor argument.
Additional reason in favor of the swap: the existing include/qjson.h
prefers listing 'name' first in json_prop_*(), and I have plans to
unify that file with the qapi visitors; listing 'name' first in
qapi will minimize churn to the (admittedly few) qjson.h clients.
Later patches will then fix docs, object.h, visitor-impl.h, and
those clients to match.
Done by first patching scripts/qapi*.py by hand to make generated
files do what I want, then by running the following Coccinelle
script to affect the rest of the code base:

I then had to apply some touchups (Coccinelle insisted on TAB
indentation in visitor.h, and botched the signature of
visit_type_enum() by rewriting 'const char *const strings[]' to

movement of parameters is sufficient to provoke compiler errors
if any callers were missed.

Replace the uint32 softfloat-specific typedef with uint32_t.
This change was made with
find include hw fpu target-* -name '*.[ch]' | xargs sed -i -e 's/\buint32\b/uint32_t/g'
together with manual removal of the typedef definition,
manual undoing of various mis-hits, and another couple of
fixes found via test compilation.
All the uses in hw/ were using the wrong type by mistake.

This patch enables migrating vcpu's TSC rate. If KVM on the
destination machine supports TSC scaling, guest programs will
observe a consistent TSC rate across the migration.
If TSC scaling is not supported on the destination machine, the
migration will not be aborted and QEMU on the destination will
not set vcpu's TSC rate to the migrated value.
If vcpu's TSC rate specified by CPU option 'tsc-freq' on the
destination machine is inconsistent with the migrated TSC rate,
the migration will be aborted.
For backwards compatibility, the migration of vcpu's TSC rate is
disabled on pc-*-2.5 and older machine types.

The arguments of error_report() should yield a short error string
without newlines.
A few places try to print additional help after the error message by
embedding newlines in the error string. That's nice, but let's do it
the right way. Commit 474c213 cleaned up some, but they keep coming
back. Offenders tracked down with the Coccinelle semantic patch from
commit 312fd5f.

NFIT is defined in ACPI 6.0: 5.2.25 NVDIMM Firmware Interface Table (NFIT)
Currently, we only support PMEM mode. Each device has 3 structures:
- SPA structure, defines the PMEM region info
- MEM DEV structure, it has the @handle which is used to associate specified
ACPI NVDIMM device we will introduce in later patch.
Also we can happily ignored the memory device's interleave, the real
nvdimm hardware access is hidden behind host
- DCR structure, it defines vendor ID used to associate specified vendor
nvdimm driver. Since we only implement PMEM mode this time, Command
window and Data window are not needed
The NVDIMM functionality is controlled by the parameter, 'nvdimm', which
is introduced for the machine, there is a example to enable it:
-machine pc,nvdimm -m 8G,maxmem=100G,slots=100 -object \
memory-backend-file,id=mem1,share,mem-path=/tmp/nvdimm1,size=10G -device \
nvdimm,memdev=mem1,id=nv1
It is disabled on default

This patch adds support for split IRQ chip mode. When
KVM_CAP_SPLIT_IRQCHIP is enabled:
1.) The PIC, PIT, and IOAPIC are implemented in userspace while
the LAPIC is implemented by KVM.
2.) The software IOAPIC delivers interrupts to the KVM LAPIC via
kvm_set_irq. Interrupt delivery is configured via the MSI routing
table, for which routes are reserved in target-i386/kvm.c then
configured in hw/intc/ioapic.c
3.) KVM delivers IOAPIC EOIs via a new exit KVM_EXIT_IOAPIC_EOI,
which is handled in target-i386/kvm.c and relayed to the software
IOAPIC via ioapic_eoi_broadcast.

After CPU hotplug has been converted to BUS-less hot-plug infrastructure,
the only function ICC bus performs is to propagate reset to LAPICs. However
LAPIC could be reset by registering its reset handler after all device are
initialized.
Do so and drop ~30LOC of not needed anymore ICCBus related code.

During reset some devices (such as hpet, rtc) might send IRQ to APIC
which changes APIC's state from default one it's supposed to have
at machine startup time.
Fix this by resetting APIC after devices have been reset to cancel
any changes that qemu_devices_reset() might have done to its state.

When ICC bus/bridge is removed, APIC MMIO will be left
unmapped since it was mapped into system's address space
indirectly by ICC bridge.
Fix it by moving mapping into APIC code, so it would be
possible to remove ICC bus/bridge code later.

upstream-qemu: cannot set up guest memory 'pc.ram': Cannot allocate memory
Aborted (core dumped)
Root cause: commit ef701d7 screwed up handling of out-of-memory
conditions. Before the commit, we report the error and exit(1), in
one place, ram_block_add(). The commit lifts the error handling up
the call chain some, to three places. Fine. Except it uses
&error_abort in these places, changing the behavior from exit(1) to
abort(), and thus undoing the work of commit 3922825 "exec: Don't
abort when we can't allocate guest memory".
The three places are:
* memory_region_init_ram()
Commit 4994653 (right after commit ef701d7) lifted the error
handling further, through memory_region_init_ram(), multiplying the
incorrect use of &error_abort. Later on, imitation of existing
(bad) code may have created more.
* memory_region_init_ram_ptr()
The &error_abort is still there.
* memory_region_init_rom_device()
Doesn't need fixing, because commit 33e0eb5 (soon after commit
ef701d7) lifted the error handling further, and in the process
changed it from &error_abort to passing it up the call chain.
Correct, because the callers are realize() methods.
Fix the error handling after memory_region_init_ram() with a
Coccinelle semantic patch:

When the last argument is &error_abort, it gets replaced by
&error_fatal. This is the fix.
If the last argument is anything else, its position is reported. This
lets us check the fix is complete. Four positions get reported:
* ram_backend_memory_alloc()
Error is passed up the call chain, ultimately through
user_creatable_complete(). As far as I can tell, it's callers all
handle the error sanely.
* fsl_imx25_realize(), fsl_imx31_realize(), dp8393x_realize()
DeviceClass.realize() methods, errors handled sanely further up the
call chain.
We're good. Test case again behaves:

reserved-memory-end tells firmware address from which
it could start treating memory as PCI address space
and map PCI BARs after it to avoid collisions with
RAM.
Currently it is incorrectly pointing to address where
hotplugged memory range starts which could redirect
hotplugged RAM accesses to PCI BARs when firmware
maps them over RAM or viceverse.
Fix this by pointing reserved-memory-end to the end
of memory hotplug area.

To share smbios among different architectures, this patch moves SMBIOS
code (smbios.c and smbios.h) from x86 specific folders into new
hw/smbios directories. As a result, CONFIG_SMBIOS=y is defined in
x86 default config files.

Current smbios builds type 19 table from e820, which is x86 specific.
This patch removes smbios' dependency on e820 by passing an array
of memory area to smbios_get_tables().

The only PC machines that didn't call pc_default_machine_options() were
isaps and xenfv. Both were already overwriting max_cpus, and only isapc
was not overwriting hot_add_cpu.
After making isapc set hot_add_cpu to NULL, we can move the
pc_default_machine_options() code the PC common class_init.

Thanks to the last patch, pc_cmos_init() doesn't need the (optional)
board-default FDC any longer as an input parameter. Update
pc_basic_device_init() not to hand it back to pc_init1() / pc_q35_init(),
and update the latter not to carry the FDC to pc_cmos_init(). This
simplifies the code.

With the pc-q35-2.4 machine type, if the user creates an ISA FDC manually:
-device isa-fdc,driveA=drive-fdc0-0-0 \
-drive file=...,if=none,id=drive-fdc0-0-0,format=raw
then the board-default FDC will be skipped, and only the explicitly
requested FDC will exist. qtree-wise, this is correct; however such an FDC
is currently not registered in the CMOS, because that code is only reached
for the board-default FDC.
The pc_cmos_init_late() one-shot reset handler -- one-shot because the
CMOS is not reprogrammed during warm reset -- should search for any ISA
FDC devices, created implicitly (by board code) or explicitly, and set the
CMOS accordingly to the ISA FDC(s) with iobase=0x3f0:
- if there is no such FDC, report both drives absent,
- if there is exactly one such FDC, report its drives in the CMOS,
- if there are more than one such FDCs, then pick one (it is not specified
which one), and print a warning about the ambiguity.

Extract the pc_cmos_init_floppy() function from pc_cmos_init(). The
function sets two RTC registers: floppy drive types (0x10), overwriting
the earlier value in there), and REG_EQUIPMENT_BYTE (0x14), setting bits
in the prior value.

pc_dimm_plug() has code that will be needed for memory plug handlers
in other archs too. Extract code from pc_dimm_plug() into a generic
routine pc_dimm_memory_plug() that resides in pc-dimm.c. Also
correspondingly refactor re-usable unplug code into pc_dimm_memory_unplug().

Remove cpu_smm_register and cpu_smm_update. Instead, each CPU
address space gets an extra region which is an alias of
/machine/smram. This extra region is enabled or disabled
as the CPU enters/exits SMM.

Setting the parent bus of a device increases its ref count, which we
ultimately want to level out. However it is only safe to do so after the
last reference to the device in local code, as qom-set or similar operations
might decrease the ref count.
Therefore move the object_unref() from pc_new_cpu() into its callers.
The APIC operations on the last CPU in pc_cpus_init() are still potentially
insecure, but that is beyond the scope of this code movement.

Even if board code decides not to request the creation of the FDC (keyed
off board-level factors, to be determined later), we should create the FDC
nevertheless if the user passes '-drive if=floppy' on the command line.
Otherwise '-drive if=floppy' would break without explicit '-device
isa-fdc' on such boards.

This patch introduces no observable change, but it allows the callers of
pc_basic_device_init(), ie. pc_init1() and pc_q35_init(), to request (or
not request) the creation of the FDC explicitly.
At the moment both callers pass constant create_fdctrl=true (hence no
observable change).
Assuming a board passes create_fdctrl=false, "floppy" will be NULL on
output, and (beyond the FDC not being created) that NULL will be passed on
to pc_cmos_init(). Luckily, pc_cmos_init() already handles that case.

This patch adds unplug cb for memory device. It resets memory status
"is_enabled" in acpi_memory_unplug_cb(), removes the corresponding
memory region, unregisters vmstate, and unparents the object.

is_removing boolean field to MemStatus. This field is used to indicate
whether the memory device in slot has been requested to be ejected.

The fw_cfg documentation says this of the revision key (0x0001, FW_CFG_ID):

arm/virt doesn't. It could be argued that that's an error in
"hw/arm/virt.c"; on the other hand, all of the other fw_cfg providing
boards set the interface version to 1 manually, despite the device
coming from the same, shared implementation. Therefore, instead of
adding
fw_cfg_add_i32(fw_cfg, FW_CFG_ID, 1);
to arm/virt, consolidate all such existing calls in the fw_cfg
initialization code.

Since commit
dd0247e0 pc: acpi: mark all possible CPUs as enabled in SRAT
Linux kernel actually tries to use CPU to Node mapping from
QEMU provided SRAT table instead of discarding it, and that
in some cases breaks build_sched_domains() which expects
sane mapping where cores/threads belonging to the same socket
are on the same NUMA node.
With current default round-robin mapping of VCPUs to nodes
guest ends-up with cores/threads belonging to the same socket
being on different NUMA nodes.
For example with following CLI:
qemu-system-x86_64 -m 4G \
-cpu Opteron_G3,vendor=AuthenticAMD \
-smp 5,sockets=1,cores=4,threads=1,maxcpus=8 \
-numa node,nodeid=0 -numa node,nodeid=1
2.6.32 based kernels will hang on boot due to incorrectly built
sched_group-s list in update_sd_lb_stats()
Replacing default mapping with a manual, where VCPUs belonging to
the same socket are on the same NUMA node, fixes the issue for
guests which can't handle nonsense topology i.e. changing CLI to:
-numa node,nodeid=0,cpus=0-3 -numa node,nodeid=1,cpus=4-7
So instead of simply scattering VCPUs around nodes, provide
callback to map the same socket VCPUs to the same NUMA node,
which is what guests would expect from a sane hardware/BIOS.

Instead of passing icc_bridge from the PC initialization code to
cpu_x86_create(), make the PC initialization code attach the CPU to
icc_bridge.
The only difference here is that icc_bridge attachment will now be done
after x86_cpu_parse_featurestr() is called. But this shouldn't make any
difference, as property setters shouldn't depend on icc_bridge.
