We can't use our normal Debian based compilers as Alpha isn't an

and fortunately cross compilers for all these targets are included in

5aa632d5d9 tests/tcg/multiarch: don't hard code paths/ports for linux-test
The fixed path and ports get in the way of running our tests and
builds in parallel. Instead of using TESTPATH we use mkdtemp() and
instead of a fixed port we allow the kernel to assign one and query it
afterwards.

Ideally test directory creation should be common functionally across
all TCG tests but this could complicate an already huge patch series
so we mark it as a TODO for next time.

875fcce661 tests/tcg/multiarch: enable additional linux-test tests
Un-comment the remaining tests.

I removed the itimer value tests because I'm fairly sure a re-arming
timer will always have a different value in it when you grab it.

I've also fixed up the clone thread flags as QEMU will only allow a
clone to use flags which match glibc. However the test is still racey
so it remains disabled by default - it can be run by passing any
additional parameters on the command line.

d0ce7e9cfc target/xtensa: fix timers test
The value of CCOUNT special register is calculated as time elapsed
since CCOUNT == 0 multiplied by the core frequency. In icount mode time
increment between consecutive instructions that don't involve time
warps is constant, but unless the result of multiplication of this
constant by the core frequency is a whole number the CCOUNT increment
between these instructions may not be constant. E.g. with icount=7 each
instruction takes 128ns, with core clock of 10MHz CCOUNT values for
consecutive instructions are:

  502: (128 * 502 * 10000000) / 1000000000 = 642.56
  503: (128 * 503 * 10000000) / 1000000000 = 643.84
  504: (128 * 504 * 10000000) / 1000000000 = 645.12

I.e.the CCOUNT increments depend on the absolute time. This results in
varying CCOUNT differences for consecutive instructions in tests that
involve time warps and don't set CCOUNT explicitly.

Change frequency of the core used in tests so that clock cycle takes
exactly 64ns. Change icount power used in tests to 6, so that each
instruction takes exactly 1 clock cycle. With these changes CCOUNT
increments only depend on the number of executed instructions and that's
what timer tests expect, so they work correctly.

2562755ee7 maint: Fix macros with broken 'do/while(0); ' usage
The point of writing a macro embedded in a 'do { ... } while (0)'
loop (particularly if the macro has multiple statements or would
otherwise end with an 'if' statement) is so that the macro can be
used as a drop-in statement with the caller supplying the
trailing ';'. Although our coding style frowns on brace-less 'if':
  if (cond)
    statement;
  else
    something else;
that is the classic case where failure to use do/while(0) wrapping
would cause the 'else' to pair with any embedded 'if' in the macro
rather than the intended outer 'if'. But conversely, if the macro
includes an embedded ';', then the same brace-less coding style
would now have two statements, making the 'else' a syntax error
rather than pairing with the outer 'if'. Thus, even though our
coding style with required braces is not impacted, ending a macro
with ';' makes our code harder to port to projects that use
brace-less styles.

The change should have no semantic impact. I was not able to
fully compile-test all of the changes (as some of them are
examples of the ugly bit-rotting debug print statements that are
completely elided by default, and I didn't want to recompile
with the necessary -D witnesses - cleaning those up is left as a
bite-sized task for another day); I did, however, audit that for
all files touched, all callers of the changed macros DID supply
a trailing ';' at the callsite, and did not appear to be used
as part of a brace-less conditional.

Found mechanically via: $ git grep -B1 'while (0);' | grep -A1 \\\\

b43671f80c tests: Avoid non-portable 'echo -ARG'
POSIX says that backslashes in the arguments to 'echo', as well as
any use of 'echo -n' and 'echo -e', are non-portable; it recommends
people should favor 'printf' instead. This is definitely true where
we do not control which shell is running (such as in makefile snippets
or in documentation examples). But even for scripts where we
require bash (and therefore, where echo does what we want by default),
it is still possible to use 'shopt -s xpg_echo' to change bash's
behavior of echo. And setting a good example never hurts when we are
not sure if a snippet will be copied from a bash-only script to a
general shell script (although I don't change the use of non-portable
\e for ESC when we know the running shell is bash).

Replace 'echo -n "..."' with 'printf %s "..."', and 'echo -e "..."'
with 'printf %b "...\n"', with the optimization that the %s/%b
argument can be omitted if the string being printed is a strict
literal with no '%', '$', or '`' (we could technically also make
this optimization when there are $ or `` substitutions but where
we can prove their results will not be problematic, but proving
that such substitutions are safe makes the patch less trivial
compared to just being consistent).

In the qemu-iotests check script, fix unusual shell quoting
that would result in word-splitting if 'date' outputs a space.

In test 051, take an opportunity to shorten the line.

In test 068, get rid of a pointless second invocation of bash.

fcf5ef2ab5 Move target-* CPU file into a target/ folder
We've currently got 18 architectures in QEMU, and thus 18 target-xxx
folders in the root folder of the QEMU source tree. More architectures
(e.g. RISC-V, AVR) are likely to be included soon, too, so the main
folder of the QEMU sources slowly gets quite overcrowded with the
target-xxx folders.
To disburden the main folder a little bit, let's move the target-xxx
folders into a dedicated target/ folder, so that target-xxx/ simply
becomes target/xxx/ instead.

85b3ed1db5 tests: cris: remove check_time1
This test, borrowed from the GDB simulator test suite, checks that every
syscall increments the time returned by gettimeofday() by exactly 1 ms.
This is not guaranteed or even desirable on QEMU so remove this test.

d10a0102b3 tests: cris: remove openpf4 test
This test, borrowed from the GDB simulator test suite, is meant to test
the GDB simulator's --sysroot feature and always fails in QEMU. Remove
it. openpf3 tests the same sequence of system calls (without assuming
the precence of --sysroot).

f278d5cbe5 tests: cris: fix syscall inline asm
Add the appropriate register constraints for the inline asm for the
write and exit system calls. Without the correct constraints for the
write() function, correct failure messages are not printed succesfully
on newer version of GCC.

21ce148c7e tests: cris: force inlining
The CRIS tests expect that functions marked inline are always inline.
With newer versions of GCC, building them results warnings like the
following and spurious failures when they are run.

In file included from tests/tcg/cris/check_moveq.c:5:0:
tests/tcg/cris/crisutils.h:66:20: warning: inlining failed in call to
'cris_tst_cc.constprop.0': call is unlikely and code size would grow [-Winline]
tests/tcg/cris/check_moveq.c:28:13: warning: called from here [-Winline]

Use the always_inline attribute when building them to fix this.
